The New IRIS by Lowes Security System Review

I have had the IRIS security system form lows for a couple of years now. I was forced to up grade to the new hub. You know that saying. "If it is not broken, do not touch it." But I was forced to upgrade due to IRIS was not going to support the old system after June 30th 2016.

First It took about 3 hrs to get to work. The customer service was even not able to help. There excuse was that there systems were down. which could explain my difficulty on setting up. However I was able to migrate over to the new hub.

I am not too happy with he new look, plus thew did away with the IRIS web browser. I can no longer monitor the iris hub through the internet. It only works with a smart device. Android or Apple. there is no Windows app.

Scott Yancey Reviews - Is it a Scam or Legit?

Based on the TV show’s success, “Flipping Vegas” star Scott Yancey launched his line of real estate investing seminars hosted all across the country, so that he could help others achieve success. How? By teaching proven investment strategies about how to make “your money work for you.” While each of these seminars can teach vastly different content, Scott typically focuses on four key areas:

Residential real estate
Commercial real estate
Tax liens & tax deeds
Multiple income streams

Is this what you’ll really get, though? If you just started researching Scott Yancey and his seminars, we’ll be totally upfront: you’re going to come across a lot of negative reviews—including here on HighYa, many of which continually reference the same problems. But is this feedback necessarily warranted? What can we learn from it (here’s a hint: If your main goal is to get a free lunch or learn everything you need to know from the free seminar, you might end up disappointed.)? And using this information, who might these seminars work best for?

We’ll address all these important questions—and explain why we came to the conclusions we did—in this review. Let’s begin by talking about Scott Yancey himself.

Who Is Scott Yancey?

As we mentioned above, Scott Yancey originally rose to fame as star of the A&E TV show “Flipping Vegas,” which follows him and his wife Amie (a designer by trade and prolific real estate agent in her own right) around the city as they buy, renovate, and then sell different homes for profit. Currently, the show is in its fifth season (on air since 2011).

Before becoming a reality TV personality, Scott was involved in real estate at a very early age. In fact, he purchased a second deed of trust for a home mortgage when he was just 14, and became a runner for real estate attorney Walter J. Plumb III while in college.

Although he’s lived in Las Vegas since 1994, it wasn’t until 2008 that Scott founded his real estate brokerage and investment firm Goliath Company, which “focuses on investment properties buy and hold approach,” including retail department stores Las Vegas, NV, Provo, UT, and Tempe, AZ.

What about Scott Yancey’s seminars, though? We had a unique opportunity to attend one, take some notes, and speak with the man himself, which is what we’ll discuss next.

Our Scott Yancey Seminar Experience

Based on the amount of customer feedback here on HighYa (we’ll talk more about this in a second), Scott Yancey and his team invited us out to one of their seminars in January 2016, with the goal of giving us a better idea of what they’re all about, what their attendees experience, and more. We’ll cover some of the highlights in this section.

Note: In the interest of full disclosure, the company paid for our airfare and hotel stay, although some of the students in attendance may have received the same. And other than a little extra time with Scott, we were afforded no special treatment and we received no compensation in return.

Different Types of Events

Before we dive in, it’s important to outline that there are two basic types of Scott Yancey events: free (also known as “preview”) events and paid events, each of which focuses on different information. For example, preview events concentrate on:

Getting your real estate investment off the ground
Choosing the best areas to invest in
Ensuring your investments always remain profitable
Generating passive monthly income, or “big monthly paydays”

On the other hand, Scott’s paid events and services focus on a much broader range of topics, including:

Boots on the Ground
The Buying Summit
Inner Circle
On-Demand Training, which includes:
- Seller Financing Boot Camp
- Residential Rentals Boot Camp
- Quick Cash Boot Camp
- Cash Flow Boot Camp
- PropTrend Real Estate Software

Of these, we were invited to attend a Buying Summit event.

Buying Summit Event, Day 1

During the initial meet and greet/networking session, our first impression was that everyone attending the event seemed friendly, optimistic, and energetic. The vibe was laid back and a lot of people were smiling and laughing.

Important note: Even though these seminars bear his name, Scott Yancey is not the main spotlight. Instead, they’re operated by a company based out of Utah, who utilizes Scott’s strategies and brand for marketing purposes.

During this time—as well as other times throughout the day—we noticed a fair amount of upselling, although we always found it relevant to the topic. In addition, the room adjacent to the conference room was filled with more relevant resources (different companies had their own booth to help you expand your business), so attendees could visit at their leisure. Here, it appears the parent company partnered with Lear Capital, so there was a lot of talk about precious metals, IRAs, insurance—and even brain supplements!

But here’s our take: Personally, the HighYa team is pretty tough on upselling, so we’re especially sensitive to when it’s occurring. In this instance though, we didn’t feel pressured to buy at any point, and the vibe remained laid back.

After watching a few clips of ”Flipping Vegas,” Scott and Amie walked onstage, he began talking about how he got started, why he does what he does, along with explaining his “your network is your net-worth” motto, all in a nice, humble manner.

The “Meat” of Scott Yancey’s Seminar

After his introduction, Scott dug into the meat of his presentation, where he discussed buying low, selling high, what factors trigger the housing market to go up and down, as well as riding massive waves of growth. He also talked about diversifying your real estate portfolio between options like single family homes, land, apartment buildings, and even stock options.

Then, Scott moved on to discussing real estate fundamentals, like:

Location
Quality
Price
Market stability
Unemployment rates (if there are jobs, then the housing market goes up, and vice-versa)
The housing industry (new to old)
Rentability
Comparables in the area
Rising sale prices
Shrinking inventory

Sprinkled here and there, attendees also learned about tax regulations, dos and don’ts, how to file for non-profit status, and more. There were lenders on-hand to help attendees finance different deals (regardless of credit score), and other tools to help them obtain their first property.

Our takeaway was that, even as non-real estate investors ourselves, this information really helped put things in perspective.

Our Time with Scott Yancey

After lunch, which was flavorful and delicious (the dessert was phenomenal!), we were able to meet with Scott for 20-30 minutes, where we were able to hang out, hear about his events in his own words, and share what we do here at HighYa. He’s definitely not a jerk like “Flipping Vegas” often makes him out to be (hey, drama sells!), and he seemed humble, down to earth, and genuine, yet high-energy.

When we inquired about the useful of real estate seminars like his, Scott likened his service to a gym membership. By paying for one, you’re gaining access to a suite of professionals who can provide coaching, mentorship, and accountability, which can truly help people achieve their goals.

But in order to achieve these goals, you have to put in the effort; you have to work out. If you choose to pay for your membership but not utilize all the tools it provides access to, you won’t get results. And it’s the exact same with Scott’s seminars and other services.

Talking With Other Seminar Attendees

Finally, everyone was able to have a Q&A with Scott, where we discussed just about anything real estate-related, along with a few members from the Creative Wealth team and co-stars from the TV show “Renovate to Rent.”

I also had a few opportunities to talk with other attendees and see what they thought about the overall experience:

One woman in her late 40s mentioned that about 20% of the seminar provided valuable information, but the remaining 80% was hype and motivation. She said she didn’t need the motivation (but could see where it might be useful for some people), and felt that it was a good overall value and she didn’t have any regrets. Her only recommendation would be to cut down on “all that yelling.”
Another woman in her mid-60s with no real estate background mentioned that she was happy as well, but that should would like more “literature.” She said she also felt out of the loop and a little lost, and wished the information was a bit more “digested” and “tangible.”
Two ladies in their late 40s or early 50s who came together told me that this was their first real estate experience, and so far they thought it was informative. There were happy with no regrets.
A man in his 60s who was attending the even with his daughter, claimed that he had 35+ years of experience in real estate. Overall, they were both happy and found the information valuable.

Our Final Thoughts About Scott Yancey Events & Seminars

When you’re searching for Scott Yancey reviews online (including here on HighYa), you’re sure to encounter a lot of complaints about his events, the most common of which seem to reference:

High-pressure sales tactics.
Basic information you could probably find elsewhere for free (or for a minimal amount of money, such as the cost of a book).

To this first complaint, although there was admittedly a lot of upselling (even one of the attendees we spoke with mentioned it), none would be what we’d consider “high-pressure.” To the second complaint, although we’re not real estate investors, we definitely didn’t find the information basic. In fact, unless you’ve got some solid experience already, you might feel left behind, as one of the others who we spoke with mentioned.

However, the Buying Summit we attended is a higher-level event, and there are dozens of packages and tiers that would probably act as a solid foundation building up to this point.

Could you find this information elsewhere? We don’t think Scott claims that his methods and strategies are proprietary, so it’s certainly possible. But if you’re not the DIY type, are looking for built-in mentorship (again, depending on the package) and networking opportunities,--and have the money, we think his events and seminars could provide a decent bang for your buck, even compared to other real estate mentorship programs we’ve reviewed.

Again though, anything you learn at these events won’t generate money on their own; you have to utilize the tools and work the system.

Bottom line? There is certainly a lot of selling going on at some of Scott Yancey’s seminars, which, based on personal preference, might not be your cup of tea. But in our opinion, they’re definitely not a scam and could very well help you get your real estate investing career off the ground, or take it to new height—you just have to commit to putting in the work.

Many people are waking up Friday with their cell phones and internet not working. No, your phone and internet is not broken; there are thousands of reports of outages from AT&T customers across Tampa Bay counties.
AT&T reports other outages in the country including recent reports from Duluth, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Anchorage, Chicago, Saint Louis, Cloquet, Austin, and Dallas.
AT&T released the following statement: “We are aware of a service issue affecting some AT&T customers in the Tampa area, and engineers are working to restore service as quickly as possible. We apologize for this inconvenience.”

US Crystal Lagoon Pasco County

Pasco County is on track to be first in the United States to be home to a Crystal Lagoon community.

The lagoons are basically gigantic swimming pools, surrounded by sandy beaches and, in the case of Pasco County, homes.

Metro Development Group partnered with Crystal Lagoons for the project, announced in late 2014.

The development group says the project has had a slower start because of the details regarding the lagoon and getting an Army Corps of Engineers permit.

Work began about six months ago, with clearing land and building a road on the old Epperson Ranch property. Within the next 30 days, crews will begin digging the Crystal Lagoon itself.

The gigantic pool will be up to nine feet at its deepest point, more than seven football fields in size, and will have a ultrasonic filtration system.

“It's water you can actually drink," said Metro Development Group president Greg Singleton. "It doesn't have a salty taste to it, it doesn't have a chlorinated taste to it, it doesn't burn your eyes, it's like swimming in bottled water."
Clarke Hobby, attorney for Standard Pacific, said the company is planning to offer homes at a higher price point, similar to the style of homes available now in Estancia at Wiregrass Ranch, where home prices top out in the $800,000 range.

The pool will be surrounded by beaches and a community of about 2,000 single family homes.

It will also be a gated community, and the lagoon will be an amenity just for residents and their guests.

The first model homes are expected to be built by the end of summer, with the lagoon coming next year.

The total project will cost over $100 million.

The development group plans to build two more "Crystal Lagoons" communities in the Tampa Bay Area -- another in Pasco and one in Hillsborough -- as well as one in Fort Myers, Florida.

Hot dogs can be such a pleasant thing to eat at a baseball game or at a party.

However, do you know how sausages are made? Once you know, you will never want to touch another hot dog in your life!

This video shows the grim reality of how hot dogs are made and it is not a pretty sight...

The process is simply. First, there are three animals that are typically ground up in the sausage: pigs, chickens and cows. The “bad” parts of the meat are all thrown into a grinder to ensure that everything is crushed to perfection.

In summary, what you find in your hot dogs are the leftover meat from the animals. It’s a long ways away from a big juicy steak!

The sad part in all this is how everything is processed. Employees don’t seem to care much as they know everything will be ground up as if it were garbage…

A Cannabis Gold Rush is coming to Florida

According to the Small Business Association (SBA) small business recently created 2 million jobs. It was not large corporations driving this train. Small business created nearly 2 million of the roughly 3 million private sector jobs generated in 2014. More than 7 million of the 11 million jobs created during our recovery have been generated by startups and small enterprise. “U.S. Small Business Administration studies show small firms employ just over half of the private-sector workforce, and created nearly two-thirds of the nation’s net new jobs over the past decade and a half.” Small business should be promoted in Florida, but instead it is suppressed within the medical marijuana business. Representative Matt Gaetz and Senator Rob Bradley continue to pick the winners and the losers in this nascent market. Is this democracy or small business at work?

If job creation is the goal in Florida shouldn’t Florida House and Senate members be promoting small business in Florida? Governor Scott’s goal is to create 1 million jobs in Florida, and put out in a December 18, 2015 press release “Thanks to our focus on cutting taxes and making it easier for job creators to succeed, our businesses are creating jobs faster than we expected.” Is that correct? In Broward and Miami-Dade counties, where Scott inked deals to create 5,456 jobs in exchange for $25.2 million in tax incentives and breaks only 61 jobs have been created. Medical marijuana in Florida would create over 50,000 jobs within a free market.

If Representative Gaetz and Senator Bradley were not tag teaming to keep Florida’s medical marijuana market limited to just five growers, and imposing patient caps before allowing other growers, we could create 50,000 jobs post a successful Amendment Two ballot vote in November. Florida’s Financial Impact Estimating Conference, put together by economists, and presented to the Governor, proclaims the following estimates.

The estimates were based upon 440,552 patients, 130,844 caregivers, and 1,993 registered treatment centers. Based upon these projections and a reasonable application fee of $15,000 for treatment centers, $100 for registered caregivers, and a biannual fee of $2,500 the Department of Health could take in the following.

• $29,895,000 application fee for treatment centers

• $13,084,400 caregiver registration fees

• $4,982,500 in treatment center renewal fees

The Economic Impact projection was the Department of Health – Office of Compassionate Use would require $2.9 million in 2017 and $2.7 million in 2018. With an expanded market they would have an overage of $40,079,400 dollars.

To date the Office of Compassionate Use has taken in $1,820,000 when 28 nurseries submitted $65,000 each on a non-refundable license application. With an expanded program, recommended application fees, the Office of compassionate Use could instead take in $42,979,400 in the first year. In essence the DOH’s Office of Compassionate Use would be more than self-funded.

Passage of Amendment Two, and allowing a free market, would generate thousands of jobs to include edible creator, concentrates processor, courier and delivery, security, reviewers, trimmers, administration, regulations and inspectors, web and software, dispensary owner, cultivation, seed harvester and sales, consulting, and training. Ancillary jobs such as air conditioning repairman, horticulture supplies, plumbers, solar panel sales, logistics, greenhouse sales, and real estate sales would all prosper. A sales tax projection of between $11.8 million to a maximum of $356.8 million has been forecasted. According to SimpleHired, a web based hiring group, the average salary in the cannabis field is $47,000 dollars.

Allowing a medical marijuana free market in Florida is exactly what Governor Scott has called for…jobs. You have to wonder why Representative Gaetz and Senator Bradley are blocking jobs in Florida by refusing to hear amendments to bills like those put forth by Senator Clemens and others.

Requirements for $65,000 application fees, 400,000 plant counts, $5 million performance bond, 250,000 patient caps before allowing only three more growers, coupling all business under these growers, and limiting the number to five growers does not promote small business, the biggest creator of jobs in this nation.

Oprah Winfrey stated it best when she said “Every time you state what you want or believe, you’re the first to hear it. It’s a message to both you and others about what you think is possible. Don’t put a ceiling on yourself.”

Vote Yes on Amendment 2 in November, and demand Representative Gaetz and SenatorBradley to allow for an open market in Florida where jobs are created and small business thrives.

Social media is being used to lure new victims into an old get-rich-quick scam. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram users are advertising ways to turn $100 into $1,000 by "flipping money." The pitch suggests investors can take advantage of quirks in the monetary system to leverage additional cash and turn a few hundred dollars into thousands. Want proof? The websites come complete with pictures of happy investors posing with stacks of cash and testimonials about how easy it is to make money. But fraud experts warn that the only people making money on this are the scam artists, who take the debit cards and never look back. "You're giving a prepaid debit-card number to someone you don't know. (You're) not sure how they're going to flip the money, not sure if it's legal or not," Felicia Thompson, spokeswoman for the Better Business Bureau of Central, Northern and Western Arizona, said. "Really, you're not going to hear from them again because they have what they want." The BBB is one of several consumer-protection agencies warning of the scam. Authorities in several other states also have posted warnings about flipping cash. The National Consumer League details on its website, fraud.org, how the scam works. Flipping scams are not new, but the use of social media and classified listings on Craigslist to promote them mark "a worrying trend," according to the bulletin, because of the ease and speed with which victims are lured into the scheme. "A recent complaint filed to fraud.org from a 26-year-old victim in California listed the scammer's name, Martez Brands, and his phone number," the bulletin said. "This information led to a website called OnInstagram, where the victim had originally found the scammer and eventually lost $300. Websites such as OnInstagram and Iconosquare are comprised of multiple pages of scammers' profiles and postings about flipping money." The scheme is simple. The victim loads the debit card and then contacts the scammers, usually through a phone number or message, to provide the PIN. Once con artists have access to the cash, they often block "the victim from contacting them via social media network or phone number, according to fraud.org. Still tempted? Consumer protection advocates suggest taking these steps before committing any cash: • Do a quick search. Before making contact, do a Web search of their username or phone number. If it's a scam, chances are that other victims have posted complaints and information online. • Be wary of prepaid debit cards. Wire transfers used to be a scammer's favorite way to collect payment, but prepaid debit cards are the new preferred method. Treat prepaid debit cards like cash. Once you give away the account info, you will not be able to get that money back. • Don't trust your online friends. It might not actually be them "liking" or sharing scam posts. Their accounts may have been hacked.

I just want to say thank you for a wonderful meal. I just came home with a full stomach and I am so happy, that I had to write a good review. The steak was fabulous cooked to perfection and the service was outstanding. Cody's is my favorite steak house in Pinellas County. My family and I really enjoyed our dinner. My son calls it the peanut place. I my self love eating the fresh roasted peanuts. The best part is you can through the peanut shells right on the floor. My wife ordered the long island ice tea, 2-4-1 drinks are incredible and strong! Cody's is a very casual, fun place to eat and drink. We will definitely come back.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — As much as people may hate paying taxes, they do love their refunds.

Normally, the IRS cuts its refunds checks pretty quickly. But this year, because of budget cuts, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen has warned that there could be a delay in issuing them.

People who file paper tax returns could wait an extra week for their refund — “or possibly longer,” wrote IRS Commissioner John Koskinen in a memo to employees Tuesday. And filers with errors or questions that require additional review will also face delays.

Last month, Congress approved a $10.9 billion budget for the IRS for fiscal year 2015, which ends in June. That’s the lowest level of funding since 2008, Koskinen said.

Koskinen said the budget cuts would result in several other changes at the agency, including:

Fewer audits. Due to cuts in enforcement staff, collection efforts for individuals and businesses will be reduced.

Hiring freeze. The freeze, plus normal attrition rates, will result in 3,000 to 4,000 fewer full-time employees at the agency by the end of June. Including the headcount losses incurred since 2010, that means the agency’s full-time staff will be reduced by as many as 17,000 employees over the course of five years.

Less taxpayer help. Cuts in overtime and temporary staff hours will not only delay refunds, but hurt correspondence with taxpayers as well. Koskinen said it’s likely that fewer than half the taxpayers that call the agency will be able to get through.

A possible two-day shutdown after tax season. To minimize disruptions, Koskinen said a temporary shutdown, if needed, would likely occur closer to June. But, he added, the agency will do what it can to avoid this option, which he called a “last resort.”

Delays in IT investments. Among the delays, will be technologies that offer new taxpayer protections against identity theft.

But they had 2005 Dodge mini van with 47,000 miles for $10,400. they also had a big sign that said Drive/ Push or tow any vehicle trade-in for $3,000. which is a Big Lie. They only wanted to give me $1,200. for my 1998 Toyota with only 90,000 miles. They also treated us with no respect. The sales person was very rude and was standing firm on the $10,400. price. Plus they wanted to charge a $650 dealers fee.

Judge Says Facebook Must Face Class Action Lawsuit Over Message Scanning

Facebook must face a class action lawsuit filed in California claiming the social networking site sifted through users’ private messages for targeted advertising purposes, violating both federal and state law.

Lead plaintiff Matthew Campbell and two others sued Facebook in December 2013, alleging the company scanned user messages for web links, translating them to “likes” on the user’s Facebook profile. Data lifted from the private messages was then used for targeted advertising, the plaintiffs claimed.

“Facebook’s practice of scanning the content of these messages violates the federal Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA also referred to as the Wiretap Act), as well as California’s Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), and section 17200 of California’s Business and Professions Code,” the plaintiffs said.

On Tuesday, US District Judge Phyllis Hamilton denied Facebook’s motion to dismiss the ECPA and CIPA section 631 claims, while granting dismissal of claims pertaining to section 632 of the CIPA and section 17200 of the CaliforniaBusiness & Professions Code, according to Tech Times.

Facebook “has not offered a sufficient explanation of how the challenged practice falls within the ordinary course of itsbusiness,” Judge Hamilton said.

The court said Facebook’s terms of service is too vague to surmise whether users ultimately consented to the company’s scan of their private messages for advertising uses.

Plaintiffs said they have a reasonable expectation of privacy within their user-to-user messaging.

Though it said it stopped the practice in question in late 2012, Facebook said in an October motion hearing, accordingto Courthouse News, that it has the right to analyze user messages, as it still does to some degree protect against viruses and helps filter out spam.

“The fact that Facebook can configure its code to scan message content for certain purposes, but not for others, leaves open the possibility that the challenged practice constitutes a separate ‘interception,’” Judge Hamilton wrote on Tuesday.

“Facebook moves to strike plaintiffs’ request for injunctive relief, arguing that it ceased the challenged practice ‘nearly two years ago,‘” Hamilton wrote. “However, plaintiffs have adequately alleged that there is a ‘sufficient likelihood’ that Facebook could resume the practice, so the court denies Facebook’s request to strike the injunctive relief at this time.”

Neither Facebook nor attorneys for the plaintiffs responded to Reuters’ immediate request for comment.

In addition to Facebook, Yahoo! and Earthlink have faced similar lawsuits. Google’s Gmail is currently appealing accusations that it violated the Wiretap Act as it scanned Gmail messages for targeted-ad purposes.

Meanwhile, in Europe, Facebook is fighting off a class action lawsuit filed in August, which claims Facebook violated users’ privacy by cooperating with the National Security Agency’s PRISM surveillance program.
