Love & Light - Squarepeg (Custard JimRemix)

custardjim@gmail.com (Custardjim) — Wed, 25 Apr 2012 14:14:00 +1000

Hello Friends,

A remix of mine has been released exclusively on Beatport and if you like what goes on around this blog why dont you get into it and support it!!!

Unfortunately due to all the music piracy its very hard to gauge how Minimal/Tech House like this is received so support on Beatport is crucial to say the least. It would be hugely appreciated and i promise i wont forget you at the Grammys unless Kanye loses his shit again and i have to unleash the inner beast...oh and to the Junkbeats Label Group inparticular East point Sounds who have so far been giving me lots of love and attention...bless em, thanks and Cheers

Now click that link and check my remix,

http://www.beatport.com/#track/love-and-light-remix/3435382

Or just check out the soundcloud snippet and click threw to the buy link.

Consuela - January 20th @ The Burdekin

custardjim@gmail.com (Custardjim) — Tue, 3 Jan 2012 23:47:00 +1100

This party is free and is for lovers of the new Acid House, Dub Techno and Deep House sounds. It's totally free and will feature own works from Squarepeg and Myself and hopefully Bassism aswell.

Not having done a party at this venue since 07 i am very excited about returning to the Mini Bar on the 1st level of the Burdekin on January 20th 2012. It's a very exciting time at the moment musically without a lot of support for Acid House and Dub Techno in the Sydney scene at the moment so i cant wait to play some new grooves.

Oh and it's free so make sure you make it.

( How good is saying things repetitively to get your point across)

Here is a track you are sure to hear on the night.

Acid House Of The Week is "Jus Acid" by Abstraxion

custardjim@gmail.com (Custardjim) — Fri, 16 Sep 2011 16:04:00 +1000

This image is so Electro House.

Have to say there is a lot of shit Electro / Electro House being labeled and tagged as Acid House at the moment. This is clearly an attempt to try and repackage an old sound that has had it's day. Think i am over reacting? Well the other day i got on the bus with a large triple shot Latte and accidentally spilt it all over A small asian cleaning lady. The whole bus gasped, her skin audibly crackling, she lay on her seat slightly convulsing and looked up at me with her minimum wage eyes and she whispered quietly and in great pain "Dude... that was so electro house!'

I rest my case.

Gui Boratto Drop's new album.

custardjim@gmail.com (Custardjim) — Fri, 16 Sep 2011 15:03:00 +1000

Below is a blurb taken from the Kompakt.fm website. My two fave's here are 'Stems From Hell' and 'Destination:Education'. Personally i used to find his music over produced and lifeless (07-08) my tastes just didn't enjoy his music very much at all back then. However Lately in the past year or so he has become a completely different Sanchez (Sanchez is the name i am using to replace the word 'Dude' in my vocabulary.) His music has soul and imagination along with that crazy production, check it out... Sanchez.

Gui Boratto is truly that success story that aspiring dance producers dream of. From his Brazilian home of São Paolo as a student of architecture and design, he quickly found himself in the position as one of the countries primary pop/rock producers (including work for Steel Pulse). It was with his 2005 debut Kompakt release on the K2 sub-label "Arquipélago" that shot him into prominence and paved a strong path of singles that led to the now classic full length "Chromophobia". The lead singles "Mr. Decay" and "Beautiful Life" remain two of the most unforgettable tracks in Kompakt history - the latter official video with well over a million views on YouTube. It was his sophomore album, the 2009 breakthrough, "Take My Breath Away" which evolved him as a dance producer further into a realm of his own right as one of Brazil's most established musicians.

Acid House of the Week is......

custardjim@gmail.com (Custardjim) — Fri, 5 Aug 2011 19:32:00 +1000

Martin Buttrich - Hunter (Roman Flügel Remix)

Good stuff here. Sorry i havent been blogging more but my stupid MAC blew up. Wish we had a third option other than PC or MAC.

Now as for Roman Flugel his 'Gets Noch'from a couple of years ago was quite the anthem during the Electro house years but i gotta say, i never got it. BUt now he has blown up into this guy who has great sounds, production and beats that make you wanna dance. HIs past eight tunes have been killer. So he deserves this award clearly.

Ming D

custardjim@gmail.com (Custardjim) — Wed, 13 Jul 2011 18:00:00 +1000

Ming D is a legend of the early nineties Sydney Rave scene.Either in a dirty warehouse in Sydney's south or in a Valley or Field a few hours drive from Sydney you could guarantee Ming would deliver at any Rave you were heading to. One of his most memorable gigs would have to be at the series of 'Happy Valley' parties (a party which is 20 yrs ago now) his sets so amazing i could personally blame him for the muscle damage in my legs at that time or the lack of nutrition in my diet, Juries out.

Now Happy Valley is having a reunion Friday, November 11 · 11:00pm - 11:30am at an undisclosed location. The whole Rave reunion thing has been done before and it wasn't Bad. But the fact that Ming didn't go on to sell out like so many big rave DJ's of that time kinda makes this edgy. Coupled with the fact that DJ Abel (who is also playing) who fell out of the scenes good graces for trying to run over a parking cop in his 4WD kinda makes this party deliciously irresistible.

Now to his mix, its downbeat it's twisted its quite IDM and I'm rocking out to it write now. Have a listen, if i can fault it at all it it's that a mix nearly two hours long is a lot to ask in this age of social media, but it's worth it, unlike so many hum drum mixes you hear these days that sound like it's being held together by masking tape the mixing, recording and tune selection of psychil - 38 makes this worth it.

ACID HOUSE of the WEEK: Acid In My Soul (KiNK Remix)

custardjim@gmail.com (Custardjim) — Wed, 6 Jul 2011 00:42:00 +1000

And once again the prestigious and highly coveted award of 'Acid House of the Week' goes to 'Dj KiNK'. Well played sir, actually this is the snuff crew edit of a King Cosmic track so i think its only fair all three parties share the packet of mint slices and bottle of lemonade between them. This is big dance floor stuff and excites me threw and threw.

Ladies and Gentlemen i give you, Acid (in my soul).
