I have been posting so much information on Pomeranian training, but there is just so much ground to be covered here that I don't feel right just leaving it at that.

The truth is, while I have very little experience in house training a Pomeranians, I'm not an expert in the specific field of Pomeranian training. But there is a man named Dean Rankin, who is.

I don't know if you have heard of him or not but, Dean is the owner of a Pomeranian Training Guide. In his guide, he reveals some amazing facts about training Poms, such as:

1. Why scolding and punishing does NOT work with a Pomeranian, and why it can make the puppy harder to train!

2. How to easily housebreak a Pomeranian - while the techniques or methods you are using right now could completely backfire!

3. You will learn about a special mental "trigger" that really gives you complete control for your Pomeranian.

The Fast Easy Way to Housebreak a Pomeranian Dog

Housebreak a Pomeranian puppy the easy way. Expert Pomeranian breeders have devised a fast, easy, and foolproof method to have your Pomeranian dog or puppy housebroken in record time.

Simply stated, consistency is the key to housebreaking. More important than any other factor, one must be methodical in their methods by reinforcing the same routine each and every time.

To begin, it's imperative that you bring your puppy directly from its crate to the outdoors consistently using the same path and door. Once outside, place your puppy in the same spot, every time. Next, you must use the same words each time. "Potty,' "Go,' "Go Potty." It doesn't matter which phrase you use, provided it's the same one each time. Remain outside until your Pomeranian has fully completed its business. Don't pick the dog up after three minutes because you're tired and want to go indoors. Wait patiently outside, using consistent words of positive reinforcement, until your dog is ready.

Once inside again, you're halfway completed with the routine of housebreaking your Pomeranian puppy. Next, set the buzzer on your kitchen stove for twenty minutes. When the buzzer goes off, take your puppy outside again using the same doorway as before. Again, patiently wait and encourage your dog using the same words as before. Your positive tone of voice and body language will work wonders in the housebreaking process. Before you know, your Pomeranian will be accustomed to the routine and will be willing to let you know when it needs to go.

Ideally, you should not even consider getting a puppy unless you have the time to devote to its training. If you must resort, however, to leaving it in a crate for ten to twelve hours a day, make sure the crate is large enough to accommodate a bed, food and water, and a potty-pee pad all spread out with ample space. When the dog uses the potty-pee pad, do not encourage it but do not punish, either. Simply ignore the fact that he's gone on the potty-pee pad while you were at work. It's acceptable, but it's certainly not praiseworthy.

When you do return home after a long day at work immediately take your Pomeranian from its crate and carry it outside. Make certain you carry your puppy outdoors, because his small bladder will likely be so full that he'll be unable walk for long. Then, complete the housebreaking process described above ensuring you set the kitchen stove buzzer and take go outside again twenty minutes later.

Do not become discouraged with the amount of time it can take to housebreak your Pomeranian. The breed is notoriously difficulty to housebreak, and each dog will require a different amount of time to train.

While such advice works well for puppies, it can also be applied to second-home or rescue Pomeranians. Such older dogs are likely already housebroken, but they still need to be shown the proper area and pathway to use. By consistently carrying them outdoors and using the stove timer method, your older dog can be housebroken in its new environment in a matter of days.

Simply stated, housebreaking your Pomeranian doesn't need to be a tedious practice. By consistently applying the method mentioned above, you will find that housebreaking can be a fast and easy process.

How My Pomeranian Trained Me!

Some people have found that Pomeranian training is a very easy task. I know Poms are very small and many people think small dogs are untrainable; at least that is what I used to think. I thought, gee small dogs are such a pain, they bark all the time, they don’t listen and they pee all over the house.

My wife bought this Pomeranian, from a Pomeranian breeder who she knew. I was used to big dogs, but they had all died or they were dognapped, so my wife thought I would enjoy this Pomeranian. First of all, he was a pretty little Pomeranian and very beautiful.

I did think, what have I gotten myself into, but it turned out to be a blessing in disquise. He is the smartest little dog that I have ever known but, he is hard headed. It only takes one or two commands to get him to understand what you want but, it does takes some time. He is utterly brilliant but, it's not that easy to train him.

He is four months old and very timid. He quickly found that we do love him and are kind to him. He is very willing to please, so maybe he is learning quicker than many Pomeranians, but training this Pom seems to be easy but, not simple.

He knows how he is supposed to walk, he knows when he is supposed to pee, he is learning the commands no and stop. I guess I am beginning to spoil my first small dog; but I must say that training my Pomeranian is fun and rewarding.

So to anyone who says Pomeranian training is very difficult, I would definitely have to disagree. I know you just need kindness and not too much sternness in your commands.

Pomeranian Training Tips

All dogs need different ways of training. In the training of a Pomeranian puppy for example, there are specific qualities to consider. These animals are small, full of energy, get overwhelmingly excited and loud. This group of toy breeds along with other small breeds of dogs is best trained while young.

These adorable explosive dogs can become well behaved when properly trained. Therefore, you want to start by allowing him to socialize with people and other animals. This should let the pup know that you will not always be the person they will be accompanied by all the time.

Next, you want to put specific boundaries so you maintain a proper control. This includes no barking when friends or family arrive, no begging for food (you have to do your part in not feeding him when you eat), so pretty much when “No” is no.

Get your Pomeranian in the habit of obeying your commands like “come” “sit” and “stay.” This will take time and at the beginning, you will need to hold him down, but it is very do-able. Repeat yourself loud and clear and most importantly have a firm voice.

Do not treat you Pomeranian puppy to a treat when his behavior amuses you, when his hungry, or because you may feel like it. Instead, reward him when he obeys you and when he does the right things.

Allow your puppy to become familiar with certain items like a brush or noisy bigger object like a vacuum cleaner. When using the brush tell him something like “Brush-time” so he will know what needs to be done. When using loud objects do not scare your pup he should feels safe.

The last thing your Pomeranian puppy training and any dog training should include is the proper way to relieve himself. Take him outdoors and wait with him until this is done. Do this occasionally and when successful reward your Pomeranian. If an accident occurs in the home make sure it is cleaned right away so scent leave immediately.

Training Your Highly Intelligent Pomeranian

Training a Pomeranian should be a fairly easy job because they are fiercely intelligent little creatures. They are usually very loyal to their owner and have a tendency to want to please their master which makes training sessions quite fun.

To start training your Pomeranian puppy it is best to begin within days of bringing the puppy into your home. You will most normally want to begin potty training as a first session. Because Pomeranians are small dogs even when full grown, many owners opt to paper train their puppy instead of teaching them to potty outdoors.

To paper train your puppy it is wise to place a piece of plastic or other water proof material under the papers. Begin by placing the puppy gently on the newspaper and try to have it remain on the paper until it has gone potty. When this happens be sure to praise the puppy.

Giving a small treat may also speed the process of paper training. The key to success in paper training your Pomeranian is to be consistent by placing the puppy on the paper quite a few times per day until he or she gets the hang of the idea. Also never move the papers. This will only confuse the dog.

Training a Pomeranian to sit might be the next lesson you choose to teach. If so you can begin by showing the puppy that you have a treat. Let it see the treat and smell it. Tell the puppy to "Sit" while gently pushing the hindquarters into the sitting position.

Praise the dog and give it a small piece of the treat. By doing this several times a day you will more then likely see quick results. Training a Pomeranian is often times much easier then training other types of small dogs because this breed is usually very intelligent.

Why Pomeranian Potty Training Can Be Such A Difficult Task

Anybody who owns one knows that Pomeranians are extremely intelligent animals. Sometimes it can almost seem like they understand exactly what we're saying and they never miss a thing around the house.

Despite their obvious intelligence, house training a pomeranian can be quite difficult. The key to Pomeranian potty training is planning and organization, along with an understanding of the instinctive behaviors that can make dogs so tough to train.

All dogs have an innate reluctance to use the bathroom near where they actually spend most of their time, but small dogs can be tough to potty train because of their size, and the size of their surroundings. To a big dog, the inside of a house can seem like a very small and confining area, so they will be more eager to use the bathroom outside.

To a small dog like a Pomeranian, the inside of a house can seem huge, so you may find that your Pomeranian puppy is perfectly comfortable sleeping in one area of the house, and using the bathroom in another. Large dogs can also develop these sorts of behavior patterns, but smaller dogs are more comfortable with this kind of arrangement and they can be harder to break from it.

Because of this issue, many people choose to use crate training pomeranians methods in their initial raising of a new Pomeranian puppy. The idea is to watch the dog every single minute, and use the crate in the situations where you can't watch it. This way, the dog never gets comfortable with the idea of using the house.

Dogs are very reliant on smell when it comes to determining the right place to use the bathroom, and if they get used to the whole house smelling like one of their bathroom places, it can be much tougher to break the habit. Using a crate is the first step to successful Pomeranian potty training. It can be a long and arduous process, but if you start in the right place, everything will be much easier.

The Importance of Training Pomeranian Puppies

If you have a Pomeranian puppy, then you know they are little balls of energy! They are intelligent, very social animals and love to have lots of room to run and explore. If you don't have a Pomeranian puppy, you may want to consider getting one. They make great additions to most families and will become your best friend in no time. The first thing you'll want to learn about after getting your Pomeranian is training Pomeranian puppies.

Your Pomeranian puppy will need to be house trained, leash trained, will need to be taught some basic obedience such as the "come" command, and may need some discipline concerning barking. Pomeranians do tend to bark a lot, so you'll want to know how to quiet them down when it's necessary. Thankfully, these dogs are super intelligent and eager to please so it shouldn't take you long to teach them all of the above.

When puppy training Pomeranians, or any other type of dog, the most important thing you must have is patience with the animal. It's true that old dogs can learn new tricks, but it's much easier if you start when they are puppies. Once your dog gives you the desired result during training, be sure to reward them with a treat and bestow lots of praise on them. One last thing to keep in mind before training Pomeranian puppies is to try not to get frustrated with the animal. If you feel frustrated, stop the training session and pick it back up when you're more relaxed. Animals easily pick up on their owner's emotions and they'll know if you're unhappy with them.

Our Pomeranian "Leo"

This is our new family member. He is a Pomeranian and we named him "Leo". We just got him about three weeks ago and let me tell you, he is a bundle of joy. He's only four months old and it didn't take long for him to get use to us. My little grand daughter loves him a lot and so do we.

I was never one for wanting a house dog but, I must say I truly love him. The reason I didn't want a puppy in the house "again" is because our first house dog died and it really broke our hearts. But, since we got Leo, I can say it has been so much fun.

Now we are in the process of training him and let me tell you it ain't easy. So, this is what I decided to do. Since we really are not in a position to pay some one to train him we decided to do it ourselves. After doing some research I found a website that had a Pomeranian training guide on it so we purchased it.

As of now, we are going through it so there is not too much I can say about it right now. I have read that housebreaking a Pomeranian puppy can be difficult if you do not know what you are doing and I agree 100% because we do not know what we are doing but, I hope this Pomeranian puppy potty training guide helps.

Believe me, Leo has had his share of accidents since we got him. That's why we want to give him the proper Pomeranian training. Not only will it be good for him but, it will be good for us and the carpet also.
