Nelson Mandela – Our Beloved Father

We all wake up with the news of the demise of tenacious, courageous, anti-apartheid but yet so kind and humble soul – Nelson Mandela, the first black South African President.

It is so sad to hear this news. But as the life cycle goes on, so both life and death are sure to happen but what matters most is that how we add value to the life. We all are living because we have given this life but do we ever think that why we have been gifted with this life. Only few of the thousands get the real meaning and purpose of this life and set their life as an example to follow for the generations to come.

In this regard, we must take the lessons from the life of Shri Nelson Mandela. He never put their weapons down in the adverse situations but challenged everyone. For their tireless struggle for freedom, equality, humanity and concern about the people, he was awarded with the life imprisonment for which he spent his precious 27 years in the prison but this eventually led South Africa to democracy. And when he released from the prison he set the direction of his life and plunged himself wholeheartedly into his life’s work, striving to attain goals he and others had set out almost four decades earlier.

He was the Father of their nation. And the second non-Indian after Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan who was awarded with the India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna.

We all pray for their departed soul a heavenly and peaceful journey in the abode of God. We all miss you.

Some of the best teachings from their own life are as:

1. I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

2. It always seems impossible until it's done.

3. Lead from the back — and let others believe they are in front.

Too often we underestimate the Power of a SMILE, which have the potential to turn a life around. SMILE is the language of love. The real man SMILE in trouble, gathers strength from distress and grows brave by reflection.

A SMILE is an inexpensive way to change your looks. All people SMILE in the same language. A warm SMILE is the universal language of kindness.

If I thought that a smile of mine, might linger the whole day through and lighten some heart with a heavier part, I'd not withhold it -- Would you???

Keep Moving with Love Towards Your Destination : Single minded but flexible, like a river forging its eternal route, I am dedicated to completions and natural conclusions. There is nothing that cannot be achieved. There is nothing that remains permanent. I keep on moving with love and purpose towards my destination. My resolve is firm, my aims are clear. I am determined.

Never listen to someone who says you cannot do something. Your heart is equipped with determination; just dare to believe anything is possible. Bring About a Positive Change: To have the awareness of being God's instrument is to bring about a positive change. When there is the awareness of being an instrument of God, there would be the desire to do the best and be the best. So each and every thing I do would be for the improvement for the self. Due to this there would be divinity and specialty seen in everything that is done. This would also bring the awareness of all the resources and they would also be used in a worthwhile way. When we are aware of our role and what we contribute through our specialties, we recognize the fact that we are a beautiful instrument of God. Interaction – A key to bring confidence

Connecting to others is an art and the person who knows that art of connection is successful.

Being a social animal, we work as per our own limited knowledge. We are normally good to people who are good to us. But when someone is not behaving well, we tend to change our attitude, our response and our behavior towards that person. Instead of changing ourselves, we wait for the other person to change. So neither do we find change in others nor in ourselves.

When we know the art of perceiving others specialities and connecting to them, we are always successful. We are then not dependent on the other person’s behavior for our own growth. We are able to see each one’s positive aspect and take it in ourselves too. So we are richer with each interaction. And that interaction automatically brings confidence in us to deal with any kind of person.

To be a master is to be free from one's own weaknesses.

We are usually under the control of our own weaknesses in a negative situation. We first respond to the situation with our weakness and then try hard to change our thoughts. But we don't find ourselves succeeding and the weakness gets the better of us.

BUT here is the solution: We need to develop the consciousness that we are a master and the weakness is only within us, our creation, and so it is totally in our control. When we develop this consciousness we will be able to win over our weaknesses easily.

Making My Dream A Reality

What is it that I truly long for? What do I want in my life?

I listen to the answer that arises from the inside of the self. I let the answer come out spontaneously. I don't worry about it.

I visualize what I want and where I want to reach. Now I fly; I fly towards the destiny that I dream of. I visualize myself being what I want to be, doing what I want to do. Without fears, without strings that hold me...

I am who I want to be... I see myself like that, having achieved it... I enjoy some moments of this experience... I experience my dream... I can achieve my dream... I have to visualize it as if I had already achieved it... This strengthens my capacity to achieve it...

Now I return to the present moment...

I prepare myself to enter into action with this conviction.

I will make my dream a reality...

24 Incarnations of Lord Vishnu

We all are aware of only 10 popular incarnations of Lord Vishnu but as per scriptures and puranas, Lord Vishnu incarnated 24 times in 24 different avatars which includes the popular 10 incarnations too. Here's have a glance at it:

1. Adi-Purush Avatar:

This incarnation took place with a desire to commence creation. This incarnation was all powerful and full of sixteen kalaas. In this incarnation, Lord Brahma emerged from the navel of Lord Vishnu in the state of deep meditation.

2. Sanat Kumar (Brahma Manas Putra):

This incarnation was in the form of Manas Putra means born by wish. Lord Brahma had four sons and they were known as manasputra who throughout their life maintained celibacy and engaged in tremendous penance. This incarnation was the inspiration source for Brahmins.

3. Varaha Avatar:

Lord Vishnu took this incarnation as a Boar and rescued this earth which had sub-merged in the ocean and brought it out from the ocean. The whole creation started only after that.

4. Narada Avatar:

Lord Vishnu in his incarnation as Sage Narada showed the devotion is best means of getting free from bondages of Karma.

5. Nara-Narayana Avatar:

Lord Vishnu in this incarnation of Sage Nara-Narayana took birth from the womb of a woman named Kala. It was the twin incarnation of Lord Vishnu on the earth working for the preservation of righteousness. The human soul Nara is the eternal companion of the Divine Narayana. Nara-Narayana performed a tremendous penance by going to Badri and Kedar and showed the importance of Penance (Labour) to the world that nothing can be achieved without it.

6. Kapila Avatar:

Main Purpose of Lord Vishnu's incarnation as sage Kapila was to compile all the divine knowledge that had been destroyed and to teach this world Sankhya Shastra (rationalism) which helped the Brahmins, who had forgotten their duties to rectify their mistakes. His mother Devahuti was his first disciple.

7. Dattatraya Avatar:

Lord Vishnu's in his seventh incarnation as Dattatraya born to Mata Ansuya and father Sage Atri. He was the one who had given Spiritual Knowledge to King Alarka and Prahlada. He had twenty four teachers. He believed that in the world, a man can learn from each and every thing, so he accepted twenty-four objects like water, bird, air, an unmarried girl, and even a prostitute etc.

8. Yagya Avatar:

Lord Vishnu in eighth incarnation as Yagya was born to Prajapati and Akuti. Yagya' is a ritual of sacrifice and is performed to please the gods. It involves pouring oblations into the divine fire. In this avatar, Lord Vishnu’s main thrust of teaching was based on the values of helpfulness and protecting each other during the time of crisis.

9. Rishabh Avatar:

Lord Vishnu in his ninth incarnation as Rishabh Dev was born to king Nabhi and Marudevi. His mother Marudevi was the daughter of Indra. He attained that state of Paramhansa which is an uphill task. He was given the title of 'Jin' which means 'a knower'. His followers are known as Jains. He was the first of the 24 Tirthankaras.

10. Prithu Avatar:

Lord Vishnu as 'Prithu' took this incarnation as per the wishes of the sages. The earth had concealed all the vegetation's within her and as a result the whole land had become barren. To protect the humanity, Lord Vishnu took incarnation as Prithu by milking the cow (earth). This is considered as supreme incarnation, because after that the earth has remained full of vegetations.

11. Matsya Avatar:

All the oceans had unified into a single ocean in the 'Manvantara' of 'Chakshusha'. Lord Vishnu in his 11th incarnation as a Matsya (Fish) rescued the earth from 'Maya' the demon. He gave discourses to Satyavrat along with the seven sages, while they were sitting on the boat. He also showed them his illusionary powers.

12. Kurma Avatar:

In twelfth incarnation as a tortoise, Lord Vishnu held the mountain 'Mandarachala' on his back, during the time when the deities and the demons where churning the ocean. He stopped the mountain from going to the nether world.

13. Dhanvanatari Avatar:

Lord Vishnu took his thirteenth incarnation as Dhanvantari. He manifested from the ocean holding a vessel filled with ambrosia. He was the profounder of medicinal science.

14. Mohini Avatar:

Lord Vishnu in his fourteenth incarnation as Mohini enchanted the demons by his beautiful appearance of a woman, and took away the pot filled up with ambrosia from them and gave it to the deities. The deities were thus protected from the demon.

15. Narsimha Avatar:

Lord Vishnu took his fifteenth incarnation as Narisimha, having upper body in the form of lion and the lower resembling of a man. In this incarnation he protected Prahlada from his father Hiranyakashipu, the demon. He killed Hiranyakashipu by tearing his body apart by his nails. Lord Vishnu had to attain this form because Lord Brahma had blessed Hiranyakashipu, that a Human being could not kill him.

16. Hayagreeva Avatar:

The main purpose of this incarnation of Lord Vishnu was to restore and protect the Vedas, which were stolen by Madhu and Kaitaba. In this incarnation of Hayagreeva, his face resembled that of a horse and the rest of his body resembled that of Sri Narayan with all of his four hands. He killed the demon and protected the Vedas.

17. Vamana Avatar:

Lord Vishnu took his seventeenth incarnation as Vamana (a Dwarf), when Bali the king of demons had captured the entire three worlds. To help the deities regain control over the heaven, Lord Vishnu disguised as a dwarf went to Bali when he was busy performing a 'Yagya' and demanded earth measured by his three steps. When 'Bali' agreed, he transformed his form from a small dwarf to a giant. Consequently he covered all three worlds with his two steps. Ultimately he regained heaven for the deities.

18. Parshurama Avatar:

When the Kshatriya kings became ruthless and started exploiting their subjects. Lord Vishnu took his eighteenth incarnation as Parshurama' and annihilated the Kshatriyas kings for seventeen times and consequently donated the earth to the Brahmins.

19. Vyasa Avatar:

Lord Vishnu took his nineteenth incarnation as Sage Vyasa by taking birth from the womb of 'Satyavati'. His father was sage Parashar. He made the division of Veda, and made extension of its branches. He also wrote eighteen Mahapuranas and the Mahabharata.

20. Rama Avatar:

Lord Rama is considered to be the twentieth incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the era of Satyug. In this incarnation he constructed a bridge over the ocean with the help of the Vanars and after crossing over to Lanka killed many demons like Ravana, Kumbhakarna. He taught the value of morality.

21. Balarama Avatar:

Balrama is considered to be the twenty-first incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He was also the elder brother of Lord Vishnu’s Krishna Avatar. In this incarnation, he killed Pralambasura, the demon and many more demons.

22. Krishna Avatar:

Lord Krishna born in Mathura was the twenty-second incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He fought against the exploitation right from his childhood and killed many demons like Kalayavan, Kansa, Jarasandh etc. He gave the divine knowledge in the form of Bhagvad Gita to Arjun during the battle of Kurukshetra.

23. Buddha Avatar:

The twenty-third incarnation of Lord Vishnu was as Lord Buddha. In the Kaliyuga, the demons were completely subjugated by the deities. Shukracharya the teacher of the demons instigated the demons to perform Yagya so that they could regain power and authority. Fearing this, deities prayed to Lord Vishnu for help. Lord Vishnu took incarnation as Buddha and dissuaded the demons from performing Yagya as it involves violence. The demons stopped performing yagyas.

24. Kalki Avatar:

At the end of Kaliyuga, when the sins would be all pervading and the kings would themselves becomes thieves then Lord Vishnu would take his twenty-fourth incarnation as Kalki by taking birth in the village of 'Shambhal' in a Brahmin family of Vishnuyash. By killing and destroying the sinners, he would re-establish the superiority of Virtuosity and religiousness.

Challenges in Life

Every challenge we face in life is a blessing by GOD. This is GOD's own way of letting us know that there is someone up in the sky who holds the key of our life and who has all the power to move our life. So next time, when we get any challenge, we must be prepare for that and be thankful to GOD that HE has chosen us to fulfil HIS task.

So here is my list of questions, which I will use when i get my next challenge.

1. What I can learn from this Challenge?

2. How is it helpful in strenghtening me?

3. How I can put this Strength to my advantage?

4. How I can use this to help others?

5. What would make this a worth-while experience?

Now I am ready for any new challenge in my life. Because If we challenge our own-selves time to time, than we will definitely become best every time. Because we can reach out of ourselves, forget our own pains, and hold other people up ...

A Tribute to our Three Freedom Fighters

These lines are enough to remind us of our national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of our country. 23^rd March is a Shahidi Divas (Martyr’s Day) of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev

At this platform, I want to pay my tribute to these three great revolutionaries who actually sow the seed of revolution which in turn helped every Indian to saw the dawn of independence.

We all have power hidden inside ourselves but how to use that power is actually not as easy as it sounds. When the power is misused, it translates into violence but when the same power is used for achieving some righteous goal then it amounts to justice. And this was the ideology of our great revolutionary Bhagat Singh which he used at that time.

They cared to die for us, they sacrificed their lives so that their forthcoming generations can be born free and die free. They died for us so that we can live in a free country. But when we look at the India today, we don’t seem to be valuing our freedom, we seem to have taken it for granted. If we want to see our country become crown of the world again, we will have to remind ourselves that our forefathers have laid their lives for us.

On this day, let’s remember those who died for this country and remind ourselves that we are safe and breathing free air because of their sacrifice.

Sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev has immortalized them for the centuries to come and on this day let us pledge to uphold the cherished values for which they gave their life.

Time - A Priceless Gift

A Short Story of DAD & SON…

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: “Daddy, may I ask you a question?”

DAD: “Yeah sure, what it is?” replied the man.

SON: “Daddy, how much do you make an hour?”

DAD: “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.

SON: “I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?”

DAD: “If you must know, I make Rs.100 an hour.”

SON: “Oh,” the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: “Daddy, may I please borrow Rs.50?”

The father was furious, “If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room.

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man had calmed down, and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that Rs. 50 and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door.

"Are you asleep, son?” He asked.

“No daddy, I’m awake,” replied the boy.

“I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier” said the man. Here’s Rs.50 you asked for.”

The little boy sat straight up, smiling.

“Oh, thank you daddy!” He yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

“Why do you want more money if you already have some?” the father grumbled.

"Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,” the little boy replied.

“Daddy, I have Rs.100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.” ………………

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

We wish to sit in Taj and Marriot with elite people but we enjoy roadside vendor food with friends the most...

We wish to own big cars and go on long drives yet we talk our heart out only while walking down a long road...

We have 64GB ipods filled with songs, but sometimes a song on the radio brings a smile that can't be compared...

Life is simple indeed...

We make it complex by running after what never gives us joy.

Way To Handle Problems Of LIFE

Normally when we are troubled by a major problem in our lives, we ponder the problem deeply, gravitate to the solace and help of others and sometime seek help from the beyond. But yet there are a number of ways we can overcome our problems and even turn them into great successes.

Problems are the part of everyone's life. But a way to tackle the problem gives strength to face the situation with courage and also helps to minimize its effect.

Once a professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see and asked the students, “how much do you think this glass weighs? ’50gms’…’100gms…’125gms’….?

The students answered, “I really don’t know unless I weigh it.”

The professor said, ‘now, my question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?’

‘Nothing’ the students said.

“OK what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?” the professor asked.

“Your arm would begin to ache” said one of the students.

“You’re right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?”

“Your arm could go numb; you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis; have to go to hospital for sure! Ventured another student”, all the students laughed.

“Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?” Asked the professor.

“No” was the reply of all the students.

“Then what caused the arm to ache; the muscle to stress?” After a pause the professor asked “Before my arm ache, what should I do?”

The students were puzzled.

“Put the glass down!” said one of the students.

“Exactly!” said the professor, “Life’s problems are exactly like this. Hold it for a few minutes in your head; they seem OK. Think of them for a long time; they begin to ache. Hold it even longer; they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything.”

It’s important to think of the challenges (problems) in your life, but EVEN MORE IMPORTANT to ‘put them down’ at the end of every day before you go to sleep. That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh; strong; can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way!

Remember to put the glass down everyday!

MORAL: Forget Problem to Solve It

Interestingly one of the best ways to solve a problem is to FORGET IT.

When we dwell on our problems, we are only immersing ourselves more into it.

On the other hand, those who forget these when they arise are putting themselves in a psychologically strong position that will help them dissolve the problem. Our emotions are less invested in them, our being is freer and we are more happier than anyone.

So Don't Forget to put that glass of problems down everyday.

Ek Danta, another name of Lord Ganesha which means Having One Tooth. But how Lord Ganesha got this name. Well, there is a story behind this name of Lord Ganesha.

It is to be said that once, Mata Parvati went for a bath, telling Ganesh to guard the entrance and not allow way to anyone inside and stop him if one wishes. When she had gone for bath then Lord Parashuram arrived there and tried to enter but Ganesha obstructed him. He strongly abused and disowned Lord Parshuram who got severely hurt and thus retaliated by weapons, he attacked Ganesh first and in this process, Ganesha lost one of his teeth. Therefore he became known as "Ek Danta."

Even that broken tooth harshly disowned Lord Parashuram and pressed him with an intention to kill. However the disciples of Lord Shiva interfered and stopped Ganesh from doing so. There was havoc among the Gods at the sight of Ganesha’s broken teeth. To please him however, the Gods praised that broken teeth also. This is a historical story.

The philosophical sense however is that when Lord Ganesh had two teeth, he was not the God and believed in the doctrine of duet entity. However, when he had only one single tooth, he became a propagandist of Singular doctrine i.e. Adwaitwadi.

It is generally seen in the case of every normal human being when initially man is in a state of confusion and believes in Dwait (duel doctrine). But finally when he chooses only one aim in his life and travels towards it (Adwait), he becomes successful in life.

Lord Shri Ganesh not only was successful with his "Ekdant" but also gained the honour of being worshipped as a Leader. Ek is Maya, Danta means Mayeek. There is a coordination of Maya and Mayeek within Lord Ganesh and hence, his name is EK Danta.'

Love of MOTHER

This is one of the beautiful story which i got in my mailbox and when I read it, I was just speechless. I am short of words to explain its beauty and the lesson which i learned from it. So I would like to share this with all my dear friends.

A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his Mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:

For cutting the grass: $5.00
For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00
For going to the store for you: $.50
Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping: $.25
Taking out the garbage: $1.00
For getting a good report card: $5.00
For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00
Total owed: $14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he'd written on, and this is what she wrote:

For the nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me

: NO CHARGE

For all the nights that I've sat up with you, doctored and prayed for you

: NO CHARGE

For all the trying times, and all the tears that you've caused through the years

: NO CHARGE

For all the nights that were filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead

: NO CHARGE

For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your nose

: NO CHARGE

Son, when you add it up, the cost of my love is

: NO CHARGE.

When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were big tears in his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said, "Mom, I sure do love you." And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote: "PAID IN FULL".

LESSONS:

You will never know how much your parents worth till you become a parent.

Be a giver not an asker, especially with your parents. there is a lot to give, besides money.

A MATHEMATICS OF LIFE

Life is like mathematics.

We all want to have the right answer at the end but for that we need to know what to add, where to subtract, how to multiply and when to divide. A small mistake can lead not only to an unexpected answer but also will not give you a chance to undo the wrong step.

So we need to be careful while solving our mathematics called LIFE.

Once a lady from USA asked Swami Vivekananda to marry her as she was fascinated by his intellect and she wanted a child of such an intellect.

Swami Vivekananda paused for a while and said to that lady - My dear lady, I understand your desire. Marrying and bringing a child in this world and understanding whether it is an intelligent or not takes very long time. More over it is not guaranteed. Instead, to fulfill your desire immediately, I can suggest a guaranteed way. Take me as your child. You are my mother. Now your desire of having a child of my intellect is fulfilled. The lady was speechless. Great thinking.

MORAL: There is always another way to the situations we faced in day to day life. What requires utmost is to think differently and act that way. Than we will be called intellectual in real terms.

Parents - Angels of God

LOVING CHILDREN is a nature of all human beings or creatures that have been blessed with a gift of a child by God. A person without the feeling of love is like a body without soul. The life of husband and wife completes only when the child enters into their life. When the baby learns to speak, the first word comes out of the mouth is MAA and than Papa. You can realize the feeling through which you were going at that time. So every proud parent can self assess why they love their children.

The reason that parents love their children is not because parents want some reward for doing so, but because they want their children to be on a higher spiritual level in every way, because they want their child to set greater standard and goals in life and they also hope that their children will be someone who is needed by the people, the nation, the world and a greater being. Parents do not love their children for their own sake but for the sake of something greater. Thats the parents’ love towards their children. Irrespective of their (parents) affordability, they have catered to all our needs. Did we even bother to ever think about the sacrifices they made to accommodate many of our wishes? Did we ever say thanks for all that they have done for us?

It is really very shameful to say no, because we don’t ever realize the value of our parents. We have forgotten that they are the creator of our lives. They are the one who make us learn about the do’s and dont's in our lives. Because of their worships and prayers we are facing the challenges of this hard-hearted world with ease.

Simultaneously, when it comes to our children, we always think that we should put them in a good school. Regardless of the amount of donation, we ensures that we will give our child the best education and best things of the world. But we tend to forget that our parents have sacrificed a lot for our sake to see us happy, so it is our responsibility to ensure that their dreams are also realized, which they failed to fulfil when they were young, it is our responsibility to ensure that they experience all those dreams and their life is complete. Because no feeling is as good and as great as making our parents happy by showing our gesture and respect which they truly deserve from us. Let us realise that old age is a second childhood and just as we take care of our children, the same attention and same care need to be given to our parents and elders.

Rather than my parents saying thank you to me, I would say sorry for making them wait so long to cherish their small dreams. I do realise how much they have sacrificed for me and I will do my best to give the best possible attention to all their wishes. Moral principles teach people to love their parents because under their blessing the heavens and all the gods lays. We are not even able to repay their debt of nurturing our lives in making us good human beings. As we all are immortal and we have to reach God once. But that is in the future which is not seen by anyone in this life. At present, God has sent us their angels in the form of parents and teach us every time that we should respect them, love them and give them every happiness we can. Because the blessings of our parents will open the doors of heaven for us. So we should love them and seek their blessings.

We might achieve many things in life and career. We might be the legend in our field. We might be very happy in life. But I can never give respect to the person unless they respect their parents. Without loving our parents, whatever we achieve in life is simply meaningless. Remember, only if we love our parents, our children will love us. Whatever we do may come back to us at the end of our life.
