To create this colorful background, I started by using the Honeycomb Stencil along with a full rainbow blend of Distress Oxide Inks. Blending the colors from warm tones into cool tones helped create a bright gradient that really makes the card stand out.

After completing the ink blending, I layered the panel over the Checkered Pierced Plate Die cut background to add extra texture and subtle detail throughout the card front. I also added pearl paint splatter and water bleach marks across the panel for additional movement and interest.

The adorable bugs from the Cute Bugs Stamp Set were colored with Olo Markers using bright coordinating colors to match the rainbow background. Once die cut, I arranged the bugs around the large Thinking of You Shadow Die sentiment to help frame the focal point of the card.

To finish the design, I added a few Crater Lake Sequins for sparkle and dimension while keeping the overall design bright, playful, and easy to mail.

I started by creating the pond scene for the background by stenciling the Watercolor Rectangle onto a white cardstock panel. I used Broken China and Uncharted Mariner Distress inks for stenciling and then spattered the stenciled panel with water for a little texture and interest. 

Next, I die-cut and assembled all the elements for the rest of my scene. I started with white cardstock for everything and inked the pieces with blending brushes to color them. I chose a tropical teal green for the dragonflies, pale pinks for the lilies, and emerald green for the lily pads. I then added a layer of vellum wings to the dragonflies and outlined the stitching detail with Diamond Stickles for some sparkle. 

I arranged the die-cuts on my background panel and attached them with either glue or thin foam squares. To finish things up, I added stamped and die-cut sentiments and a splattering of clear droplets for embellishment. Lastly, I attached the card front to a top-fold card base, and it was ready to send off to my bestie!

To start off I die-cut out the Shadow Box using some small flower pattern paper from my stash. Next, I die-cut out the scallop frame with a pale yellow card stock. I kept my color palette to just three colors, Yellow of course, Teal, and the Black to keep it simple.

For the grass I did use the grass in the Shadow Box die set up front in the window. But I also used the Grass Border Die as well. Die-cutting out the Grass Border Die first, then I went back and die-cut them again using the insert mound die. I just off set the die so it didn’t cut off the top of the long blades of grass. 

Next, I stamped out all the images from the stamp set plus more of the flowers to really fill up my Shadow box. Copic colored them all in then with the coordinating dies die-cut them out. I attached the trails to a couple of the bees coming from both directions. 

Before I started to assemble my Shadow box I added 1/4 inch acetate strips to a couple of the bees with liquid adhesive or double sided tape works also. 

For the background panel I did a soft blue blend, then splattered the diluted blue ink on it. 

Now to assemble the box, I attached the three sides and the grassy inserts leaving one side unattached. I would adhered some of the flowers and bees to the grass and fold it together like it would be to see if they could be seen or look right. Then open it back up and do the next layer of grass with the flowers and bees. It’s best to start from the back and work your way forward. Once I had it filled up, I laid the box flat with the tabs out on the grass inserts and add liquid glue to the tabs only folding the box over complete it.  

Placing the larger bee on the front up in the clouds was perfect. Any image larger would be closest with the small bees farther in the distance. 

Stamping out the “Thinking Of You” from the set and die-cut it out with the matching die and attached to the front along with a couple more flowers. Never can have enough flowers for the bees to pollinate!

I used the Stitched Bugs Dies and the Everyday Branches Dies to diecut the caterpillar, ladybug, branch and some leaves out of Neenah Solar White 110 lbs cardstock. These parts can be easily die-cut out of colored cardstock and inked up for a bit of depth and dimension. But today I have opted to die-cut them out of white cardstock and then color them with Copic markers. I added highlights with a white gel pen.

For the background, I used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink to lightly ink blend a piece of white cardstock. Once it was dry, I used the new Checkered Pierced Plate Die to diecut the panel. I used a paper trimmer to trim the panel down to 4” x 5.25”. I adhered the panel to a white A2 cardbase (4.25” x 5.5”).

For the sentiment, I used the new Hello Shadow Dies to diecut the Hello and its shadow out of the Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the Hello with a Copic marker (R24) for the perfect match to my cute bugs. I adhered the red Hello to the white shadow with liquid glue. For the “Friend” sentiment, I used the “Hi Friend” sentiment from the new Cute Bugs stamp set to partially stamp the sentiment. I masked off the “Hi” on the clear stamp, inked up the stamp with Versamark Watermark ink, removed the mask and stamped onto a piece of black cardstock.I heat embossed with Detail White Embossing Powder. I used one of the Sentiment Strip Dies to diecut it out.

Finally, I adhered the colored bugs, branch, leaves and sentiment to the inked panel with foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest.
