a quote worth keeping

2026-07-09T16:17:16.075+08:00

this is a mango sticky rice celebration cake.

celebrating something with my husband.

i also want to share this quote with you because i love it.

"if you want to know where your job will take you, look at the people who are 5 to 10 years ahead of you. if you admire their lifestyle, keep going. if you don't, reconsider your path."

the other day, someone mentioned this quote to me again, and i'm grateful to him for the reminder.

and yes, this is it.

some thoughts and yaps about adult friendship

2026-02-03T02:52:00.011+08:00

do you ever think about why sometimes you feel like your friends are not really your friends anymore?

thanks to the world wide web and a few books i’ve read, i started to understand this better.

this is also very applicable for acquaintances and colleagues. when you suddenly want to be friends with them and something feels off, it usually means you don’t share the same likes, values, or whatever else. and that’s okay. just move on and continue being acquaintances or colleagues.

it’s usually because you’re on a different timeline already. different likes, different perspectives, and most especially, a different lifestyle. and that’s okay. it’s normal to feel this way.

the funny thing is you didn’t realise it sooner.

i actually love aging. age really gives you more wisdom and understanding.
what matters most now is that you love yourself and you love your little life with your family.

also let’s be real, i need more money to sustain my happy lifestyle than friends hahaha 😌

What I’ve Learned About People

2025-07-06T18:23:00.002+08:00

After almost three years, I’ve noticed something about how people and systems work. If you’re not someone’s favourite, your requests can be ignored, no matter how valid they are. But if you’re in their good books, things happen for you almost instantly.

It used to bother me, but now I see it as a reminder that not everything is about fairness, and not everyone will treat you the same. It’s a part of life, and it’s up to me to decide how to respond. I can choose to let it drain me, or I can focus on my own path and keep showing up for myself.

Because at the end of the day, being your own favourite is what really counts.

Gaslighting: The Overused Term of 2024

2025-02-13T10:54:00.003+08:00

What is gaslighting? According to Google, gaslighting is the act of manipulating someone using psychological methods to make them question their own sanity or reasoning abilities. A gaslighter may tell you things that lead you to doubt your own thoughts and judgments.

So, what should you do when dealing with gaslighters? While it’s important to listen to them, never believe their distortions of reality. Recognizing gaslighting is crucial for maintaining your mental health and self-esteem.

Pabebe at Halong Bay Vietnam

2024-07-27T16:47:00.001+08:00

Halong Bay, Vietnam, June 2024. Photo not related to the topic, but trying to grab some attention, 🙄 lol.

The term "pabebe" is often used to describe individuals who exhibit a superficial or overly delicate demeanor, seeking attention and validation from others. It can be used in both a positive and negative context, depending on the context and the person's perception of the behavior.

Now, let us ponder this thought-provoking question: Who embodies the true essence of being "pabebe"? Is it a person with a genuine thirst for knowledge, a growth mindset, and a willingness to expand their horizons? Or is it leaders who lack credibility, fail to understand basic communication, contradict their own words, and prioritize their self-interest above all else?

In my logical estimation, the answer is crystal clear. The epitome of "pabebe" lies in those leaders who exhibit a lack of credibility, struggle to comprehend even the simplest English sentence, engage in contradictory actions, and prioritize their own interests over the well-being of others. These individuals embody the essence of superficiality and self-centeredness.

On the contrary, individuals who embrace a growth mindset, strive for continuous learning, and seek to improve themselves are the opposite of "pabebe." Their dedication to personal growth and development sets them apart as intelligent and admirable beings.

Let us always choose the path of wisdom, integrity, and genuine self-improvement, steering clear of the "pabebe" tendencies displayed by self-serving leaders.

Stay smart, stay true to yourself, and never cease in your pursuit of knowledge and growth!

VALIDATION is for Parking

2024-06-20T10:25:00.007+08:00

Doing this blog live now! While inside the limousine en route to Halong Bay, Vietnam. 🇻🇳 Limousine epiphanies, haha

I'm just going to say it - nobody's going to validate you. Nobody's going to welcome you into the club, pat you on the back, or love you the way you love them. Your friends aren't going to reciprocate everything you do for them.

That's the harsh truth, but it's also the liberating truth. When you stop seeking validation from others, you free yourself to simply make the work you want to see in the world. To create from an authentic place, without worrying about what anyone else thinks.

Validation is for parking meters, not creative souls. The second you start seeking approval, you lose the magic. You get bogged down in other people's opinions and lose sight of your own vision.

So forget about what anyone else thinks. Forget about being accepted or praised. Just focus on making things you care about. The kind of work that lights you up from the inside. That's the only validation that matters.

The world is full of people who will try to pigeon-hole you, box you in, and tell you what you "should" be doing. Ignore them. Silence the voice in your head that craves outside approval.

Because at the end of the day, the only person you need to impress is yourself. The rest is just noise. 😉

Unwind and Relax: How to Make the Most of Your Day at Sentosa Beach

2023-10-10T21:37:00.000+08:00

Well, I've got a great tip for you - always have an adventure bag handy! Inside this bag, make sure to pack essentials such as a towel, soap, shampoo, and sunblock. 🧴And don't forget to throw in some snacks and drinks to keep you fueled throughout the day. 🧃 Additionally, remember to bring along a picnic mat and some sand toys for added fun. 😁☀️🌊🏖️🩳🩱

This mat is truly handy. I purchased it during our last trip to Krabi, Thailand, and after three years, it still looks sturdy without any tears, despite excessive use. 🧺

Yesterday was a sunny day, perfect for a beach day with the family. We headed out after our late lunch. We took the MRT, specifically the Thomson East Coast line, and alighted at Outram MRT station. From Outram, we transferred to the Harbourfront MRT station. Finally, we took the monorail and headed to the beach station. The Sentosa monorail is not free; you need to tap your EZ-Link card, and the fare is $4.

The beach was packed with tourists on a Sunday afternoon, but I didn't mind because I could smell the beach and the sound of the waves was music to my ears. We had a picnic there and brought some snacks with us. My daughter wasted no time and dove right into the water. Meanwhile, my husband couldn't resist and bought more snacks from the numerous food trucks available in Sentosa now. 🚚

The Tom Yum squid that my husband bought for me was delicious.

Around 7 pm, the coast guard announced that we needed to get out of the water. As you can see, my daughter was not impressed hahaha.

After that, we headed to our favorite restaurant, Coastes, at Sentosa. I noticed that the service had changed; they were friendlier now than before. lol We ordered carbonara for my daughter, shrimp pasta for me, fish and chips for my husband, and calamari as a side dish. 🦑

And that's all for a day in Sentosa. I can call it a visually refreshing nature day off lol 🏖️🌊☀️

Temporary Closure for Renovation: Enhancing Satay by the Bay Experience for Food Enthusiasts

2023-10-06T15:56:00.003+08:00

Hello, October 1st! Last Sunday, I went to Satay by the Bay alone because I was craving satay! It was the first day of my menstruation, so I really wanted to eat satay.🤣 Hahaha! Little did I know that it was the last day of Satay by the Bay. They will be renovating for two months and will come back with a new Satay by the Bay in December. It's great to know that they are renovating because some of the food stalls looked old and dirty to me.

So, if you ever visit Gardens by the Bay, please note that Satay by the Bay is closed for renovation for two months. They will reopen in December, which works out nicely as December tends to have many tourists due to the holidays. See you soon, Satay by the Bay! 🍺🍢🍡

I always buy the set C from Geylang Serai.

See you again in December, Satay by the Bay! 🍢🍡

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max Titanium

2023-09-27T01:06:00.001+08:00

So here's the re-unboxing of my iPhone 15 Pro Max in titanium. And check out these awesome first photos I took today, right outside our house. The zooming capability is seriously impressive! Even at 5x optical zoom, you can still see the details so clearly. It's like a dream come true for photographers! 📷They weren't kidding about that. 🍎

By the way, someone asked me why I didn't upgrade to the iPhone 14 last time. Well, my IT husband says the specs are almost the same, which means there aren't any groundbreaking features on the iPhone 14. I always trust his reviews, which is why I'm still rocking my pink iPhone 13. 💖

Anyway, that's my zoom review for now on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.🩶 I'll update again if I'm in the mood to go outside 🤣

This first shot captures the HDB facade with me standing right in front of our door.

This second shot was zoomed in twice as much!

And in the 3rd photo, I used the 5x optical zoom. You can clearly see the hub stairs behind the plant pots.

Here's the re-unboxing video. 🩶

My Comfort Food

2023-09-23T02:32:00.000+08:00

I just had an epiphany while eating my Indomie. 🍜Sometimes, you simply want to be friends with someone. Your intentions are good, but then you discover that he or she abhors you for no apparent reason. Perhaps there are some gossips floating around that caused him or her to develop this dislike towards you. However, the bottom line is that you just want to make friends. LOL!

Milk Tea Grey Hair Color

2023-09-21T18:25:00.001+08:00

Haha, yes, I edited my photo here! No pores right? 🤣

Hey, so last night was a chill night for me because I decided to hit up #1 Salon. You know, they used to have a branch in Ang Mo Kio, but they recently moved shop to Toa Payoh. And guess what? My awesome hair colourist got transferred too! Of course, being the loyalist that I am, I followed him without a second thought. Gotta stick with the best, right? 🙌🏼

Here's the cool thing about #1 Salon: they keep it real when it comes to hair colour. They won't sugarcoat anything. They'll straight up tell you what's gonna happen to that beautiful shade when it starts to fade. No false promises or unrealistic expectations here, unlike those other salons that just go, "Yeah, yeah, we can totally achieve that color," but end up giving you something completely different. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Let me tell you, I'm head over heels for my "signature color" at #1 Salon. It's this rad milk tea grey that suits me to a T. 😁 And you know what? William, my hair colorist, never disappoints. He's got mad skills and pays attention to every little detail, making sure my hair looks on point every time. 🩶

To wrap it up, my visit to #1 Salon last night was pure awesomeness. Even with their move to Toa Payoh, my loyalty to the salon and William remains unshakable. They keep it honest and real, and that's why they're my go-to. Big shout-out to William and the whole crew. You guys rock! 💇🏻‍♀️

You can visit them here: Salon #1

Japanese Maternity Photo Shoot

2015-10-03T17:33:00.002+08:00

August 1, 2015. The start of my maternity leave. :D My husband and I went for a photo shoot at the Japanese garden (Jurong East, SG). The theme was (as usual) Japanese! ha ha! :D I brought my Yukata that day which my husband bought last March in Japan. Before that photo shoot, we went to Liang Court shopping mall to look for Geta or Yukata slippers. Too bad the big sizes were out of stock and only small sizes were left. FYI big feet woman here (size 9 or 10) :)) After that we explored the whole shopping mall just for my Yukata slippers (my husband is the sweetest he doesn't want me to feel disapointed hehehe) then finally we saw this Japanese supermarket called Meidi-Ya, they don't have Yukata slippers but we found a Japanese cloth slipper which is nice and I think it blends well with my Yukata. So voila! We bought it as an alternative for a Yukata slipper.

-end of Geta story- :))

All photos are taken by my husband with a little help of tripod. Editing by yours truly. :D
