Fleur de Lotus

Yoohoo, i'm back with another blush on review. It's my new baby from Joues Contraste collection, Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 69 Fleur de Lotus.

I'm currently on a mission to buy all the shades i love. I already have 6 Joues Contraste blush in total. Rose Petale, Rose Initial, Rouge, Fleur De Lotus, Ultra Rose and Rose Tourbillon. My next target are Pink Explosion (on its way to me), Star Dust and Frivole. 2 more to go, and then i'll stop until Chanel releases new shades. After JC mission, i already have another missions, i will hunt some blusher from another big brands.

You know, when it comes to blusher, it's too irresistible, i simply can't stop buying it. I know i only have 2 cheeks. But there are 365 days a year, right? I can wear them one by one alternately :P

Women can't have too much blushers, just like they can't have too much shoes, muahaha *evil laugh*

Ok, back on topic.

Fleur de Lotus is a part of the limited-edition 6-piece Fleur de Lotus collection, a Nordstrom exclusive. This collection was previously released in Asia, but became very popular that Chanel decided to release it in US also, but still on its original baked formula.

The packaging is just like the rest of JC blush, a black sleek and elegant compact with the double C logo on the center. It's also came with a suede pouch and a mini brush too.

Fleur de Lotus is a very pretty peachy coral blush on. The color is outstandingly beautiful, which i think will look pretty on all skin tones. This blush has a luminescent sheen that gives you a healthy, glowing look instantly. It's shimmery just like any other baked formula blush, but no worries ladies, the shimmer is very subtle.

The texture is smooth and silky. It's finely milled and easy to blend. It has a great pigmentation & staying power, i only need one swipe for each cheek, and it lasted for 8 hours on my oily face, not bad eh? And just like all the Joues Contraste blushes, it a soft rose scent that i really love.

My friend once said to me that Fleur de Lotus is a perfect version of the ever famous NARS Orgasm. And i must say that i agreed. While they're both pretty, for me Fleur wins because it doesn't emphasizing my pores. And NARS O's shimmer does it, big time.

I really love Fleur de Lotus. It's easily become my current favorite blush. The color is stunning, it gives me a beautiful glow (you must already know how i adore glowing face, right?), it has a good pigmentation and staying power and also season appropriate. It's pricey, yes. But then again, it's Chanel we're talking about. And with $48 i got a good quality blush on, so i really don't mind the price.

TheBalm Instain Long-Wearing Powder Staining Blush

Have you heard about TheBalm new cheeks product, Instain blush?
It was launched April 1st, last month and has been everywhere ever since.
This product carries 6 shades: Argyle, Lace, Toile, Houdstooth, Swiss Dot and Pin Stripe.

The company's describe Instain blush as:

theBalm’s long-wearing, STAINING powder blush is a fashion must have! With six shades, perfect for all seasons and skin tones, it will give your cheeks color that won’t quit.

I purchased Lace, Argyle, Pinstripe and Toile.

Claims to be long wearing and staining, i must say i was very curious with Instain blushes and i had a high expectation of them. I was very excited when they came, because the colors on the pan are just pretty and bright.

Instain blush, just like the Boy and Mama series, come in cardboard packaging with a paper sleeves and a mirror inside. And the design is very cute, women in various skin tones, dressed in vintage outfits (1920-ish maybe?) I like it more than the Boy and Mama series.

Let's take a look at them a little closer :)

ARGYLE

Described as a petal pink color, Argyle is a very pretty pink that will be perfect for any occasion. Although it's pretty, i don't find it "special". I mean, it's a pink we can find anywhere on any brand. But it's a pretty color nonetheless. It's a matte finish and very pigmented, although i'm not sure about the staining.

TOILE

Toile described as a strawberry pink. Toile is the first one that caught my eyes when i was picking what shade to buy. Compared to my other strawberry pink blush, Coral Key Largo, Toile has a coral/orange feel to it while Key Largo is pure strawberry pink, like the strawberry kewpie doll above, but deeper. I love Toile, the color is very unique and pretty on the cheeks. It's matte finish and stays on forever on the cheeks :D

LACE

Lace described as bright pink. Lace is my second favorite shade from all the shades i have. I reaaaallllyyy love that it's really bright both on the pan and on the cheeks. The pretty stunning bright. Lace is the brightest pink blush on my collection so far, and i love how it looks on my cheeks. It's also matte finish and stays on forever too. Imagine teaming up Lace with MAC Pink Nouveau Lipstick, cat eye liner and thick lashes. Aaaah~

PINSTRIPE

I had been wanting for a plum blush for quite some time, but hesitated to buy it, afraid it would look awful on me. But i challenged myself when i saw Pinstripe, i thought at least once i should give it a try. And i think that was the best decision i made last month (lebay lol), but seriously, Pinstripe may look intimidating on the pan, but once applied, you'll get a pretty&natural glowing plumish cheeks. It's very pretty, very very very very pretty. The plum is very subtle, not over the top plum, very wearable. The shimmer is subtle and not emphasizing pores. It stays more than 8 hours on me.

Well i must say i really like these blushes.
The packaging are cute, the colors in the pan are pretty, the pigmentation and staying power is amazing.
Some of them do stain, yes, but only if i apply them a lot. which kinda impossible with that kind of pigmentation. And since i need only a little amount of product for both of my cheeks, it will take forever until i need to buy the new ones, yay.

My only issue is the application. Because of the pigmentation, application is tricky. After some experiments with Tarte & Real Techniques blush brushes and my fingers, for me the best tool to apply these blushes is CQ flat top brush, from makeuptoolshop. It also requires a light handed application and a lottttttt of blending movements. Blend, blend, blend, blend !

And here's how they look on my face, minus Pinstripe. I forgot to take selca when i wore Pinstripe. Will do a special FOTD with Pinstripe next time :D

If you haven't got yourself TheBalm Instain blush, i highly recommended you to at least have 1 or 2.
I regret why i didn't buy Swiss Dot also, i just saw the swatch and it's a pretty orange blush. I think i will buy it too soon :)

Chanel Joues Contraste in 79 Rouge

another new blush from my favorite brand, Chanel!
This one is Chanel Joues Contraste in 79 Rouge.
I bought it from Strawberrynet around April 20th when i was on Bali.
I was supposedly still on make up shopping banned that day, i blame my friend Elle (lol), who told me that Chanel JC Rouge was on sale. it was cost "ONLY" $44, what a catch, right? And i just by that, the banned rules forgotten completely! So i blame you, you you, Elle hahaha, just kidding :p
And so! I browsed Strawberrynet immadiately, and bought it right away without any second thought of how will i survive for the rest of the month, i just didn't care muahaha. (Btw, Pullman Hotel Kuta's signal sucks big time!!!!!!!)

It was a sweet surprise when i saw the package from Strawberrynet on my mommy in law's desk 2 days ago. It came sooner than i expected, yay. Thanks Strawberrynet, you packed it nicely too.
I didn't open it until midnite because i was still stuck with my Sonny Angels packages.

When i finally opened it, i was quite stunned, Rouge is the first red blush i've own so far, i didn't expect it to be so red. it's the kind of blush that reminds you of Snow White's red apple cheeks. It's a deep red shade with a golden shimmer. The color in the pan is so vibrant and it is really a red blush. I love a bright and bold blushes, but yet it scared me a bit. I thought, "how on earth am i gonna put this on my cheeks?"
But wait, just because it's so red and looks scary on the pan, doesn't mean it's not wearable. With the right approach, it will transform into a beautiful red blush on your cheeks ;)

The packaging is simple and elegant. A sleek black compact with a mirror and small brush and comes with a black velvet pouch.

And as always, the blush has a nice rosy scent that i love very much.

As i mentioned before, this blush has a golden shimmer, you can see the tiny shimmer on the pan on the photo above. Shimmery blush tends to scares me because i have a large pores. But i don't find any issue with this blush. The simmer is very subtle, it doesn't emphasizing my pores and doesn't move around my face making me look like a shiny disco ball.
In fact the shimmer makes this blush even prettier. It makes my cheeks glowing beautifully.

For a baked version, i thought Rouge would be sheer and i'd need to work it out a little bit for the color to show, just like my JC Rose Petale. While Rouge is not anything like that, it goes beyond my expectations. Firstly, it's highly pigmented, only one swipe is more than enough for your cheeks. So a light hand is totally needed, otherwise you will overdo it, and end up look like a clown. Secondly, it lasts forever. It stays for more than 8 hours on me, without a touch up, amazing. None of these ever happened with Rose Petale.

(In case you're wondering what's the different between the baked and the non-baked version of Chanel Joues Contraste, there are 2 versions of Chanel make up, the European version and US version. From what I've experienced with them, the baked one (EU version) tends to be sheer and less pigmented than the non-baked version (US version). The baked version is also lighter, only holds 4gr of product, while the non-baked holds 6gr. BUT, not all the baked version is bad. From what i've read, the limited edition products of the baked version, like Fleur De Lotus and Rouge have a good pigmentation, unlike the regular baked version.)

With such bold color, you need to buff, buff and buff like there's no tomorrow to avoid looking over the top. I applied it with my Tarte blush brush yesterday, and still not happy with the result.
I will try it with a flat top brush or a fluffy blush brush next time to find the perfect way to apply this blush nicely.

Here's the ingredients. It's not paraben free. So if you have a sensitive skin, this blush is might not for you.

And here's the comparison between Rouge and theBalm Instain #Pinstripe.
My friend Elle, asked me whether they're similar or not. She haven't try on her Rouge because she has bought many blushes in the same time and Rouge is still on queue. What a happy reason LOL.
Anyway, the answer is no. Pinstripe is plummish. But they both have the same beautiful glowing effect once applied on skin. I love Pinstripe so much too. (Will do a full review of theBalm Instain blushes soon)

Overall, i think this is a very beautiful red blush that will look great in various skin tones. The color is unique and surprisingly wearable. It has a crazy pigmentation and staying power. And it will also lasts forever, since you need only a little amount every time you use it.
It may not everyone's cup of tea, but if you want to try a different look and is looking for a deep pigmented blush, this blush is worth a try.
And with a right application and a right blush, it will look very pretty on your cheeks.

Ulzzang Girl Gradient Lips

Hiya pretties!
As the Korean ulzzang trends boomed, the cute gradient lips is also easily became a huge trend among Korean lovers. Now we can see lots of girls wearing this trend everywhere, including me :D
So, since it's still on trend and i love it very much, here's a short tutorial to achieve it.

Start with bare lips. Don't forget to apply lip balm if you have a dry lips like me.
Apply a nude lipstick or lip concealer. I don't have a lip concealer, so i use nude lipstick instead
Apply an orange lipstick or lip tint. Spread it outwards using finger or lipstick brush until it blends smoothly.
Re-apply the orange lipstick only on the center of the lips.
To give more definition, apply a red lipstick or lip tint (you can also use hot pink or fuchsia), spread the edge a bit with finger or lipstick brush, don't surpass the orange lipstick/lip tint so it'll make a nice gradient.
Zazang! Finished, a kissable gradient lips ;)

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet L'eclatante Review, Swatch & FOTD

As promised, i'm back with a new review.
Today i'll write a review about my newest addition to my matte lipstick collection, from the Chanel Printemps Précieux Collection for Spring 2013, Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in #L'eclatante.

L'eclatante is a bright pink lipstick that screams spring aloud.

Looking at the color on the tube, i thought it would be a really really bright pink. But no, it's bright, yes, but not too much. In fact it looks gorgeous and luxurious on the lips.

I just love the black and gold packaging, sleek and sophisticated.
It's a matte lipstick that has a creamy velvety texture that glides easily on your lips.
The pigmentation is crazy, you get a full coverage finish in just one swipe. And it's also has a great staying power. It lasted for more than 4 hours on me.

But, sadly, unlike La Fascinante, it enhanced flakes on my lips, also felt uncomfortable after a while. My lips started to feel dry after an hour. You need to exfoliate your lips and put on a lip balm before applying this lipstick.

Well i must say, the drying part is a bit disappointing. I don't experience it at all with La Fascinante, so i had a high expectation to L'eclatante. It's the first Chanel product that i do not fond of :(

Jane Volturi Inspired Make Up & Geo Color

Hello, hello after another MIA, i'm back with a FOTD post inspired by the vicious Jane Volturi from The Twilight Saga movie.
If you're a fan of The Twilight Saga films and books, you must have know her already, right?

Her make up is quite simple actually, flawless face with black smokey eyes and red lipstick.
I took extra time to prep my face well before applying foundation and set the foundation with loose powder and finishing powder to get vampire's porcelain skin. And also contouring my nose and cheek bones to give my face more definition. The difference between my version with the original version is; i wear peach blush on while Jane is totally pale. My face looked very scary without the blush on, especially after i wear the red contact lens. Even my hubby said i looked like a witch and super scary. He said i shouldn't let anybody see my photos, they'll give people bad dreams. Bah. LOL

(made an extra effort to edit this photo muahaha. i look extra silly compared to this beautiful lady, sigh.)

So anyway, here's the result of my Jane Volturi make up. I hope you will not have a bad dreams after you see the photos. I'm waiting for your comment :p

The red contact lens are Geo Magic Color, in Deep Red.

I got them as a sponsored gift from Geo Lens.

To be honest, when i saw how bright this pair on the ad, i thought, "ah just a photoshop trick, it won't be that bright". But turned out they're soooo bright, even brighter when you see them in person. So bright it's scares me and my hubby lol.

That's why it took me long long long long time to make this review, it wasn't easy to find a perfect make up theme to support the review. I thought about the new born Bella Cullen make up but dismissed the idea as i found it too mainstream. Then Jane Volturi came to mind :D

Curve Base: 8.6mm

Water Content: 38-42%

Life Span: 1 year

ENLARGEMENT EFFECT:

Nada. If you're a dolly eyes or bambi eyes fan, this pair is not for you.

It doesn't have any enlargement effect at all.

COMFORT:

I had a rough time with these lenses on the first try. Unlike the other Geo lens i have, they felt very uncomfortable on the first try. But the unpleasant feeling disappeared when i tried them the next day. I wore them for more than 6 hours on the 2nd day and didn't feel any dryness or discomfort.

COLOR:

A head-turning vibrant red with a black pattern. The color is so vivid, it will costs you a rising eye brows or a weird stares from others.

REPURCHASE:

Hmm.. most probably not. But i will consider another color, the natural ones, like grey or brown. Because they're comfortable and i love the pattern.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

It's not a bad product even if i'm not fond of it. On the good side, it means the ad photo doesn't lie. It IS a RED lens, what you see is what you get. But the bad side is; this pair is not for everyday occasions, unless you don't mind the attention it brings. But it is a great choice for a custom party, cosplaying, themed photo shoot or something like that :)

Dampak 5S Pada Kesehatan Kulit

Hi ladiess.. i'm back with another post.

Bertambah usia yang hampir menginjak 30 tahun membuat saya semakin concern dan peduli dengan kesehatan, terutama kesehatan kulit. Ngga mau kan belum2 udah keriput dan kusam di sana sini..

Terlebih lagi buat ibu-ibu yang sejak berhenti menyusui dan kembali mengalami beberapa perubahan hormon misalnya karena menstruasi. Jerawat jerawat kembali mengganggu. Belum lagi, kulit yang kelihatan kusam dan mulai ada fine lines di deket mulut dan di area mata! Jadi makin parno deh lihat kulit sendiri. Belum usia 30 tahun-an tapi kenapa kondisi kulit udah begini yah?

Setelah baca-baca nih guys, ternyata ada 5 hal yang mempercepat penuaan pada kulit.

5S : Stress, Sleep, Sun, Sugar dan Smoke.

· Stress; Stress secara ngga langsung berdampak pada kesehatan kulit lho, ladies. Menurut penemu dan kepala peneliti dari Logical Images, New York, Dr. Art Papier stress juga berdampak buruk pada kulit. Ada korelasi langsung antara stress dan penuaan kulit. Stress membuat tingkat hormon kortisol meningkat (hormon ini sering kali disebut sebagai hormon stress). Dengan meningkatnya kortisol, maka akan merusak kolagen dan menyebabkan peradangan pada sel kulit. Hasilnya, muncul jerawat dan keriput dini di wajah. Ngga Cuma itu, stress juga mempengaruhi sistem imun, yang bisa membuat seseorang lebih rentan terhadap penyakit kulit menular.

· Sleep; Kurang tidur juga berdampak sekali pada kesehatan kulit. Dampak yang nyata adalah timbulnya kantung mata, area bawah mata menghitam, kulit kusam serta fine lines. Tapi, ternyata saat tubuh kita kurang tidur, tubuh kita melepaskan lebih banyak hormon stres atau kortisol. Dalam jumlah yang berlebihan, kortisol dapat memecah kolagen kulit atau protein yang membuat kulit tetap halus dan elastis. Kurang tidur juga dapat menyebabkan tubuh lebih sedikit mengeluarkan hormon pertumbuhan.

· Sun; Matahari memiliki sinar UV yang tak hanya membahayakan mata tetapi juga rambut dan kulit, karena memiliki banyak radikal bebas yang mampu merusak organ tubuh terutama kulit kita. Banyak sekali dampak buruk dari sinar UV pada kulit kita, seperti membuat kulit kusam, menyebabkan timbulnya bintik-bintik coklat atau hitam pada kulit, merusak kolagen pada kulit yang membuat kulit cepat keriput, menggelapkan warna kulit, memicu penuaan dini atau bahkan bisa menyebabkan kanker kulit!

· Sugar; Terlalu banyak mengkonsumsi gula juga berdampak buruk pada kulit. Sebuah penelitian yang dilansir Stuff, gula putih berpotensi menyebabkan penuaan dini dan kulit keriput , sama buruknya dengan paparan sinar matahari secara langsung mengenai kulit yang juga dapat menyebabkan penuaan dini dan kulit keriput. Michele Chevalley Hedge, ahli nutrisi dari Sydney, Australia mengatakan, terlalu banyak mengonsumsi gula putih bisa membentuk molekul-molekul yang bisa merusak sel tubuh. Molekul berbahaya ini disebut advanced glycation end products (AGEs); merusak kolagen dan elastin -komponen penting yang menjaga kulit tetap muda dan kenyal. AGEs juga bisa mengurangi kadar antioksidan dalam tubuh. sehingga terhindar dari penuaan dini dan kulit keriput.

· Smoke;Polusi udara mengandung partikel kecil yang dapat masuk ke dalam pori-pori dan kulit. Akibatnya, usia kulit menjadi prematur dan mengakibatkan jerawat serta kulit kusam. Menurut penelitian Universitas Heinrich-Heine di DÃsseldorf, Jerman, sap polutan menyebabkan kerusakan kulit dan munculnya flek-flek hitam. Kerusakan ini juga sebanding dengan paparan asap rokok pada kulit. Bukan lagi rahasia kalau polusi adalah sumber radikal bebas yang akan merusak kulit dan kemudian berefek penuaan kulit. Walaupun laporan yang ada menyatakan kalau polusi di Amerika Utara dan Eropa telah berkurang atau menghilang, berkat peraturan ketat dari pemerintah mengenai emisi, di Asia justru meningkat pesat, yang disebabkan penumbuhan penduduk yang sangat tinggi, dan telah melebihi Amerika Utara dan Eropa. Polusi yang meningkat adalah satu lagi penyebab stres mengkhawatirkan yang bisa menyebabkan tanda penuaan muncul lebih awal dari yang seharusnya.

Aku sendiri juga sehari-hari sering kurang tidur dan sering kecapean yang berakibat stress.

Being a full time wifey and mommy is not an easy job, apalagi anak aku juga termasuk yang super aktif, yang jagain nya bener2 menguras tenaga. Karena capek yang menumpuk dan jarang punya “me time”, akhir nya aku sering stress sendiri dan kadang kangen juga sama masa-masa waktu masih single :p

Selama ini aku sendiri ngga menyangka kalo stress yang aku alami itu juga berdampak sama kesehatan kulit. Ternyata stress, baik emosional maupun fisik, sama2 jelek dampak nya.

Jadi mau di rawat serajin dan sebagus apapun kalo kita stress, ngga akan memberi hasil yg baik.

No wonder kulit ku makin hari kondisi nya makin jelek.

Di jaman sekarang yang menuntut kita untuk selalu kelihatan cantik dan muda ini, apa ya yang harus kita lakukan untuk menghindari penuaan dini? Selain menghindari 5S tadi, perawatan luar pun penting loh. But I wonder, apakah perawatan kulit aku yang sekarang udah cukup membantu mengatasi problem-problem kulit ku yah?

Archie's Girls Lipstick

Hiya ladies, i'm back with another lipstick review. It took me several days to complete this post, because i'd lost my blogging mood again. So many tasks to do and i'm on a strict diet, i feel exhausted most of the time.
Ok, enough about me. Let's talk about something nice, the limited edition MAC lipstick, Betty Bright and Ronnie Red.

When i saw Temptalia's review about MAC Archie's Girls Collections early this year, besides of the cute packaging, i have to be honest that it didn't catch my attention at all. I was on Chanel hype that time.
Weeks passed, i was blogwalking to kill the time when i read some reviews about Archie's Girls Collections. And bada bing, suddenly i wanted the lipsticks, Betty Bright and Ronnie Red. Especially the Betty Bright, so fresh and perfect for spring/summer make up.
Too bad, i was unlucky, because when i wanted the lipsticks, they're already sold out on the web. And MAC Indonesia doesn't have this collection yet (hmmpphh). I was nearly gave up after 2 weeks of searching and found nothing. But finallyyyyyyyyyyy, i got them! Bought them with a reaaaallly unreasonable price, but i didn't care, i wanted them too bad to think about the price.

And here they are !

Unlike the regular MAC lipstick, they come in a white tube with a cute little hearts printed and also Betty's and Veronica's face on the tube. And i reeeaaallllyyy love it. The packaging is too adorable, i might put it forever on my dressing table to add some cuteness there.

Ronnie Red is bright pinky red matte lipstick with blue undertones. I'm a huge fan of matte lipstick and currently into red lips, so i knew i had to have it. And this lipstick fulfilled my expectations. The color looks even prettier on real life. The pigmentation is verrrrryyyy good! It's not drying on me when i used it without lip balm, which is a rare case to my dry lips.
It's a very long wearing lipstick and leaves a stain on your lips. You can eat like a zombie and find that your lipstick still stays beautifully on your lips. I didn't experience shifting, budging and feathering for hours!
Overall, i love it! No wonder Temptalia gave this lipstick an A!

I was put an extra effort to find this lipstick because i think Betty Bright has the prettiest color among the other Archie's Girls lipsticks and as i said before, a perfect color for spring/summer. Betty Bright is described as a "light vibrant peach" while for me it's more coral than peach. It's satin finish, very opaque and has a creamy finish. I've found that it's very similar to MAC Viva Glam Nicki, only Betty is more coral and Nicki is bright pink. I love how it looks on my lips, dabbed or fully swiped, very beautiful and bright. It stays for about 4 or 5 hours on me, and unlike Ronnie Red, it doesn't stain and i need to re apply after having meal. The downside are it's a bit drying on my lips (sigh) and you may need to re-check after applying as the color can look uneven if swiped more than one layer. Overall, i must say that i'm not that impressed with Betty Bright. The color is pretty though, and it's a limited edition, but doesn't worth the price i paid for it (i bought it for IDR 350k, while regular MAC lipsticks are IDR200k). I expected more.

About a month ago i was searching for MAC Lavender Whip dupe, which led me to Barry M name.
Me then visited Barry M website and fell in love!
Barry M have an interesting collections in wide range of colors (even black lipstick!) !!
I immediately placed my order for Barry M Lip Paint #129 (lavender) and #147 (peachy pink).
The original price is GBP 4.49 (around USD 7). But after shipping fee from UK to Indonesia and tax, the price for one lipstick is around IDR 110k. Well, more expensive, but still affordable.

The packaging is simple. Black and square shaped. Smaller than any other lipsticks that i have but it has the same amount as i got from any other brand.
Both color are interesting and fulfilled my expectations.

They're pigmented and long lasting, it lasts for 4hours on me.
The finishing is matte, which is my favorite :D
If you have dry lips, you may need to use lip balm because this lipstick is quite drying.

Overall thoughts:
I really love this lipstick. It's pigmented, long lasting and affordable.
The only downside is that it's a bit drying but nothing a lipbalm can't help.
I really recommend this lipstick to you, especially because it has an interesting color collections!

Chanel & Rachel K CC Creams: Review, Swatches & Comparisons

I'm not a BB Cream lover as i found most of BB Creams leave a greasy feeling on my face.
When i heard that Chanel introduced CC Cream earlier this year, i didn't have any idea what CC Cream is. I thought it's just Chanel's version of BB Cream, that's why they name it CC Cream lol. I was very skeptical, i thought, "is it just another BB Cream with a new name?"

What is CC Cream anyway?

According to Wikipedia, CC cream, also known as Color Control cream, is an improved and refined blemish balm cream or Beauty Balm created and developed in Korea. BB (Blemish Balm) cream was originally formulated in Germany and has in recent years gained a huge following in Asia and is quickly making its way to Europe and the USA for its skin-regenerating properties. CC cream is now also widely used in Asia to provide natural-looking skin coverage. While BB cream was manufactured primarily as a skincare product, CC cream was developed to retain all the skincare benefits of BB cream with added nourishing ingredients and the additional aim to provide more effective skin coverage. CC cream is the newest miracle beauty product available and was formulated with technology originating in industry-leader Japan and further developed in Korea.

As i wrote earlier, i was skeptical with cc cream, i didn't get excited at all even when i heard Chanel has it also. My curiosity grew when i read bloggers reviews about it. It was a 50:50, some said good, some said it was just another BB Cream with another name. And then i watched my favorite Youtube guru RaeView reviewed about Chanel CC Cream and how it looks on her. She gave a good review about it and i also love how lovely her skin was after she applied the cc cream. I always trust her reviews, and she said that it's a good product, so i decided to buy it and give it a try.

I also got two samples of Rachel K CC Cream from a friend. Rachel K is known for their CC Cream products, i think it's the pioneer of the CC Cream era. It has been recommended by top Hong Kong based prominent makeup artist, Zing, who is the appointed personal makeup artist for famous singers and actresses such as Zhang Ziyi, Shu Qi, Faye Wong, Sammi Cheng, Kelly Chen, Angelababy and also pageant beauty queens from around the world. Rachel K Cosmetics is the first make-up brand in Asia to be marketed as a beauty queen's brand that is supported by pageant beauty queens from around the world. And it's suitable for all skin types, even the sensitive one. Interesting, eh?

Chanel CC Cream

When i bought Chanel CC Cream last January, it's only available on it's official web and on Chanel's Asia stores such as Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
I think the main target market is Asian women, that's why it's still only available on Asia and that's why it's still only has one shade available, 20 Beige, which has a strong yellow undertone.
The texture is thick, creamy, powdery, and quickly dry. You have to work fast with this product, or you'll get ugly patches on your skin.
When i opened and applied it on my hand i was a bit freaked out because i thought it's too yellow for me, i was afraid it might look ashy. But no, it blended nicely on my skin after a while and did not cause any break out or look ashy. Just nice.
The coverage is medium but build-able. It covered my pores and my redness amazingly in 1 layer.
The oil control and the staying power are great. I used it for more than 8 hours last week, i only needed to blot my face once on the T-Zone and cheeks. And it didn't melt nor shifted. I looked as fresh as daisy once i blotted the oil away.
I found that this product is best worn alone. When i topped it with powder all over my face, it looked heavy and cakey, horrifying.
But when worn alone, it gives me a flawless, fresh look.
It instantly gives me a slightly dewy finish right after i blended it out on my face. A natural one, not too shiny or greasy like what i've experienced with BB Cream, not as moist as the Chanel Vitalumiere effect on my skin.
What's more important is that it has SPF30! Although it has high SPF, it doesn't cause a whitecast on me. You can see the proof on the FOTD photo below.
It also has a nice soft flower scent. I didn't like it before but now it grows on me.
Overall, i'm so happy with this product. Good coverage, the staying power and oil control is amazing, it matches my skin perfectly and it doesn't break me out.
The only downside is the price. But hey, it's Chanel anyway.

Rachel K CC Cream

The pink one is Neutral, the black one is Original.
The Original (black) shade is lighter than the Neutral (pink) one.
I think the black one will matches women with fair skin, NC15ish perfectly, while the pink one matches women with neutral shade, a NC20ish and up. Me personally likes the black one better. It brightened my face and i looked fresh all day.
Texture wise, these two are thick, but not as thick as Chanel CC Cream texture. They blended easily on my skin and not easily dry. So you can take your time
Both have high SPF, SPF35, and doesn't cause white cast.
For the coverage, both are medium. It covered my redness, pores and acnes well. But i think the black one has better coverage. You can see on the before-after below that the black one covers my skin imperfection better than the pink one.

The black one has dewy finish and the oil control is so weak. Only 1-2 hours after applying and my face already full with oil, you could use it to cook, wtf! However, it's all better when i topped it off with a powder. Took 3-4 hours before my face started to get oily, but not too much. In fact, i love how it looked, my face looked dewy and healthy like KPop stars lol. I think this one works better on women with normal & dry skin with the dewy finish and low oil control. The dewy finish is pretty and i love the brightening effect.

The pink one has matte finish and has better oil control. I didn't have to blot it until 5 hours.
If you look at the swatches, you may find that this one matches my skin perfectly. But my face and neck are brighter than my hand, which is NC15, so it doesn't look as great as the black one on me. Just nice, but doesn't blew me away. It didn't do its job to brighten my face and the coverage is just so so. I think this would work great on women with oily and combination skins. But you might skip it if you're looking for product with a good coverage, i don't recommend it.

They lasted for 5-6 hours on me before started to fading and they have no scent.
However, if i have to choose, i prefer the black one rather than the pink.
Although the black one has weak oil control, i can still top it off with powder.
But it does its job to brighten up my face and covers my imperfection much better than the pink one.

How they look on my skin

As you can see on my bare skin, i have big pores, acne, acne scars and redness here and there.

It gotten bad these past few days before i had my period, it's so ugly i wanna cry.

Coverage:
My fave from the all three is definitely Chanel. It covers my pores and redness in 1 layer only.
But i also love Rachel K black, as you can see it does a good job, my face looked flawless.

Texture:
I prefer Rachel K ones, Chanel CC Cream dries too quickly -__-"

Oil Control & Staying Power:
Definitely Chanel CC Cream. Last week i had it for 10 hours and it stayed beautifully. Only needed one time touch up after 7 hours.

Scent:
Chanel CC Cream! It smells so nice. Rachel K ones have no scent.

Packaging:
I like Chanel CC Cream packaging, it's sleek and elegant.

Price:
Definitely Rachel K. Rachel K regular size is only IDR 390k. While i bought Chanel CC Cream for IDR 600k!

Overall thoughts:
Although i found them better than any of of those BB Creams i've tried before, well most of them, i think the pink one is just another bb cream. I think that CC Cream is not a big step away from BB Cream. But they are better than BB Cream, especially on coverage, oil control and staying power departments.
If you have some money to splurge on, i do recommend Chanel CC Cream, it's worth to try on.
But if you're on budget, go for Rachel K. It has good quality too! Not to mention the black one has a very beautiful dewy finish :)

Hello ladies,
if you're a highlighter lover, you have to read this post!

As you probably know, i'm a huge fan of Chanel beauty products.
When i saw Chanel Spring 2013 ” Printemps Precieux de Chanel ” Collection, this illuminating powder/highlighter was the first one that caught my eyes
It was love at first sight! I mean, look at this, it's probably the most beautiful highlighter ever made so far!
Look at those pretty embosses. It has big Chanel emblem on the center of it and other small symbols like Coco Chanel's camellia blossom, fragrance bottles, lipsticks and lipgloss all over it. It's very very very beautiful, unique and very detailed. The embosses are beautiful my heart cracks whenever i use it, afraid they might disappear anytime soon lol.

The product came with velvet pouch and a tiny sponge.

Well, to be honest, although it was a love at first sight, i didn't buy it right away because it's quite expensive.
It's $68. I mean i could buy a couple beauty products with $68!
But, i've learned my lesson. After what happened to me when i postponed to buy Notorious, i decided to buy it after i saw a beauty shop had it on the ready stock items.
It's a limited edition and it's pretty. Not to mention that it's a whole lot bigger than the regular Chanel blush, Joues Contraste. And how a little of it goes a long the way. It's totally worth to buy.

My swatches above don't do any justice of how beautiful this product is in real life.
Check out Temptalia's swatch for a better look of it.

When you look at the pan, it looks like a golden highlighter.
But when applied, it's nothing like that.
It has a touch of pink, beige and silver too, not only gold. It's a combination of all of them.
It's not like any other highlighter/illuminator, it's very unique.

The texture is very soft and smooth.
Unlike any of my highlighter powder, it's not very shimmery nor frosty.
It's subtle and gives me beautiful yet natural warm glow.
It blends perfectly and very pigmented, as i said before, a little goes a long the way.
The staying power is good, it sits on my oily skin for about 4 - 5 hours.
And what i love the most is it's not emphasizing my big pores.

This product is totally amazing :) I'm happy i decided to buy it :D

Spring Fling!

Time really flies by!
It's March already and spring is on its way :D
As much as i like fall and winter fashion and make up trends, i always happy when spring and summer come.
It's nice to see fresh and colorful color everywhere after 6 months filled with dark, gloomy colors.
And this year, i'm really happy orange lippy is on trend.
Recently i'm really into bright lips. Red and orange to be exact.
After years only wore a soft pink and nude lipsticks, i'm happy to find myself being more adventurous.

On this FOTD i wore a gorgeous cremesheen lipstick from MAC, Ravishing.
I was looking for a pretty orange-coral lipstick that i can wear everyday without looking too much.
My choice were Ravishing or Shy Girl.
I had already placed an order for Shy Girl, because i thought Shy Girl is softer. I worried Ravishing would look too bright for me.
But then i saw how pretty it was on one of my favorite beauty blogger, Cheryl. I thought i have to buy it!
And lucky me, my favorite online shop had this on their ready stock stuffs. And the rest is history....~ :p

Anyway, Ravishing is a medium orange coral lipstick with soft shimmer.
It's cremesheen lipstick and it's on permanent range.
The color looks beautiful both on the tube and when applied.
I love how it compliments my fair skin tone. It brightens up my skin and gives me a healthy-fresh look.
The color is opaque. And on me it lasts for 3 - 4 hours before slightly fading.
What i don't like about Ravishing is that it's a bit drying. So, for you who has a dry lips, i suggest you to use lipbalm first.

Pink, who doesn't love pink? Well maybe me. I'm not a big fan of pink actually.
But pink is definitely one of my pick for my everyday make up.
It's sweet, pretty, great for all skin tones and safe for any occasion.
However, pink eye shadow is definitely not the easiest color to work with since it tends to make your eye look swollen.
So the trick is to pair it with a deeper shade on eye socket and crease. And don't forget to line your lash line to avoid looking like you have a rabbit eyes when you're wearing pink.

So here's a simple tutorial of how i do my pink eyeshadow for everyday look.
It's quick and easy!

After applying eye primer, swipe your favorite pink eye shadow all over your eye lid. Go up to the hollow of your socket line, but don't go too far up.
Apply a dark brown eye shadow on your skin. Don't forget to blend it up.
Add a white eye shadow around your tear duct.
Apply your favorite eye liner, and then apply a mascara. Finish!

And here's the finish look.
I didn't wear any foundation, just a moisturizer and a transculent finishing powder.

Very simple but really effective when i only got a little time to prepare myself :D

And the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation is the foundation that a lot of beauty bloggers raved about. I purchased the mini size one before decided to buy the full size. I tried it yesterday, and i can only say that it's beyond amazing. Like really really really amazing. Now i understand why they say it's their HG foundation. Will make a review about it soon!

Hello ladies!

Before i start, i'd like to say Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Chinese New Year to you who celebrate it.

I don't celebrate Valentine, but yes to CNY.

CNY is one of the reason February is my favorite month. Before i got married, when it's still "legal" to receive an angpao, i had always waiting for February. Obviously, who doesn't love money? :p The second reason is because my birthday is in February too. But the second reason had vanished ever since my 26th birthday. I kinda hate my birthday now, i hate getting older :(

But, just like my hubby always said, "everyone is getting older too along with you, so don't worry.", i try not to worry too much about my age.

Anyway, today i will post an outfit photo after a long long hiatus. It's funny to me how my blog changed from the original idea. It's more a beauty blog now than a fashion blog. I barely had a chance to dress up in small city like Malang . Now mostly i wear a loose tee and a denim shorts with flip flops, which not blog-worthy. And when i had a chance to go to Surabaya, i never had a chance to take picture of my outfit, always so busy taking care of my daughter. So, yeah, i know my blog is kinda boring now with monotone FOTD posts. I will try harder to be a good blogger, write more interesting things other than posting my close up photo lol.

In the mean time, please forgive me for being a lazy-boring blogger.

Today i will write about my make up and my outfit, and also a quick review of my first Chanel lipstick.

Let's start with the review first, shall we?

Ok, so this pretty red lipstick is my first Chanel lipstick.

I had never interested with any Chanel lipstick before i saw the Rouge Allure Velvet series, i don't know why.

This series had catch my attention because it's Chanel newest lipstick addition, and also because lots of bloggers raved about it, most of them gave lots of praises about this lipstick.

I didn't bought it right away, mostly because of the price. I forgot the exact price but it's around IDR 450k. I bought it from SVS De Beaute, an online beauty shop on Facebook (they also got an account on Instagram). Quite pricey, eh? I gave this lipstick quite a thought before i finally had the gut to buy it.

When i first saw it, i was very impressed by how luxurious the packaging is. So sleek and sophisticated. You have to push-click the lipstick out of the black case. And i have to tell you that i really love the "click" sound from it lol.

I love the color. I must admit that i was quite scared when i saw the red on the tube, but it looks really good on my fair skin tone i think. It's not too bright, the color is very elegant.

It's a beautiful red matte lipstick which i think will suit any skin color.

It's more satin finish when firstly applied, and then turns to a pretty velvety finish after a while.

It's creamy, soft, velvety and not drying and not chalky my lips like i thought all matte lipstick would be.

The color payoff and the staying power is amazing.

I love it so much. If you have an extra money to spend, i really recommend this lipstick to you.

Favorite Foundations

Today i wanna share you about my favorite foundations, and it'll be a long post, so beware hahaha.
I'm a sucker when it comes to foundation, lipstick and blush on. I have quite a lot of them, because seriously, i can't stop buying them.
I don't buy an eye make up product as much as them because i doubt my own eye make up skill haha. I only have a few essential products of it.

Because i have a super oily skin, i was into matte finish for as long as i remembered.
I've tried and bought many matte foundations before i got stuck to Chanel Mat Lumiere foundation.
It was my first ever Chanel product. Because of the price, i'd given it a serious thought before i bought it. I bought the sample of it and Estee Lauder Double Wear first, and tried them on before i was pretty sure that Mat Lumiere was the best option for me.
I bought it for probably IDR 600k, from strawberry.net. I was using the lightest one, shade Claie 20. And it matched my skin perfectly.
Why i loved it so much? Because it gave me the flawless natural finish, evened out my skin but not cakey at all. In fact, after a while my skin looked a bit dewy, which i thought probably because my naturally oily skin. But later i read that some beauty bloggers also had the same dewy skin experience. Maybe it's from the "lumiere" formula, and i noticed it's written "soft matte" on the box, so it's not "matte" matte, but still looked natural.
The oil control is so good, with face primer i could use it up to 8hours and i didn't have to blot AT ALL. It stayed beautifully, didn't melt and i looked just as fresh as i was on the morning.
The coverage is medium to full and buildable. It has an SPF, but didn't caused any whitecast. And it has a nice rose scent to it, not too much, just nice.
It was my HG foundation, the first foundation that i'd used until the bottle's empty. Never happened before.

The love-for-matte era ended on the end of 2011, when my obsession for Ulzzang look gotten bigger than ever. I started my searching for foundation and BB Cream that'd give me a pretty & healthy dewy finish look. And the searching was over when i watched my favorite Youtube beauty guru, Pixiwoo was using Chanel Vitalumiere foundation. After i saw how her skin glowing after she's using the foundation, i bought it right away.
I bought it by pre order on one of my favorite online shop on Female Daily's Market Plaza. Bought it for maybe around IDR 625k.
Bought the lightest shade of it, which is Clair 20.
I thought, it'd matched my skin perfectly like Mat Lumiere did. But it didn't.
Somehow the Vitalumiere's (VL) Clair is a lot darker than Mat Lumiere (ML). Unfortunately, i don't have the comparison for the shades because i didn't buy another bottle of ML when i ran out of it, i purchased VL instead. Which i regret, a lot because ML is discontinued, le sigh. If only i'd knew, i'd buy a spare bottle or two :(
Ok, back to VL. VL is light weight foundation with dewy finish. It blends perfectly and not cakey at all. It really gives you a beautiful glow you wish you have.The coverage is sheer/medium, but buildable. And just like the Mat, the staying power is amazing, has SPF but photo-friendly, and it also has nice rose scent too.
Actually, VL is not recommended for women with oily skin. Because, obviously it'll look too glowy on women with oily skin. I knew it but still purchased it anyway. The trick is always using a foundation primer first, an oil-free one would be better. And if i thought i would spend lots of time on outdoor, i'd top it up with a powder. On a hot, humid weather, you might need to blot a lot because it'll make you feel greasy. That's why i rarely use it outdoor, except on my sissy wedding day and some special occassion.
In my opinion, it's a perfect foundation for women with normal and dry skin who's looking for healthy dewy finish foundation. For example, when i used it to my sister on her wedding day. She has a dry skin. Her skin glowed prettily even on humid weather, in fact it only made it better, more dewy! Which made me wish i had her skin. Tsk.

My love and curiousity to Chanel foundations led me to bought Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (VLA), which also instantly became my favorite.
It's a water based foundation that feels airy on skin. The finishing is satin-matte, a bit luminous with light medium coverage. It has SPF but just like ML & VL, it's photo friendly, easy to blend. And, has a nice scent also.
It's my favorite foundation along the rest of Chanel foundations that i have. Because it's light weight, i don't feel i wear any foundation at all. I love how it even out my skin, it's like my skin but better. It's really a nice foundation, a perfect foundation for everyday.
You need to shake it well before you pour the product out or you'll get some kind of greasy water.
Bought it for about IDR 550k. The shade is different from my ML & VL, it's BO20 which more yellow than the other two. I bought this shade because the seller told me that it matches my skin tone, and she's right, it looks nice on me.

My newest foundation from Chanel is Perfection Lumiere, which many said is quite alike with Mat Lumiere, which obviously why i bought it.
I received it 2 days ago, and still figuring out whether i love it or not. But i really hope it'll make the list. The finishing is more matte than Mat Lumiere IMO. And it's the kind of foundation that makes me feel like i'm using too much foundation after i applied it. But it blends nicely after a while. It feels quite drying, especially if i use a foundation primer, which never happened before to me!
The coverage is amazing though, it covers and even out my skin amazingly. Which i really need now since my skin is not in its best condition. It's also doesn't transfer easily onto clothes, which is great. And what's best is a little goes along the way.
My biggest issue is the scent, it has a weird strong scent which make me a little bit dizzy when i first tried it. It's not a soft nice scent like the other Chanel foundation that i have.
Well so far, i think i like it. But i think it's not better than Mat Lumiere IMO. But i don't know, like i said, i'm still figuring out.
Bought it from TWL Cosmetics for IDR 635k. Bought the lightest shade this time, which is BR10, because my skin tone now is NC15 - 20. I'm getting paler i don't know why. But anyway, it matches my skin tone perfectly. Just hoping i won't get darker anytime soon.

And my last favorite foundation is Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in #115. It's medium to full coverage, blends nicely on my skin, semi-matte finish, oil-free, long lasting, buildable, and the list can still going on and on hehehe. Mostly i use this foundation to a formal party and photo session where there will be lots of lighting and flashes. And it never fails me. Ever.

MAC Candy Yum Yum Review, Swatch & FOTD

Hi ladies!
Finally i got the chance to update my blog. My computer is still broken, so i'm using hubby's laptop now.
Today i wanna write my review about my new found love lipstick, MAC Candy Yum Yum.
When i first saw this lipstick on some blogs, i didn't really interested as i couldn't picture myself wearing such a bold hue lipstick.
But then, i saw some bloggers and youtube beauty gurus wearing it, and it looked awesome on them.
Not only on fair skin, but even on dark skin also.
My curiosity grew and grew with more good reviews i read. And then i decided to bought it, right after i read on Temptalia that it became a permanent. Thank god MAC made it permanent, i mean, if not, i might spend maybe $100 just for this little tiny lipstick.

MAC Candy Yum Yum lipstick is described as “bright pink” with a matte finish. It’s a neon, blue-based pink with a matte finish.
This lipstick may not be everyone's cup of tea (including me), but it definitely worth to try.
I was hesitated when i saw the color on tube, it's so damn bright!
I thought, "how can i go out with such a bright color on my lips without people staring weirdly at me?"
But then after i tried it on my lips, the thought gone instantly. I mean, it's bright (obviously), what you see on the tube is what you get, but in a good way.
It's bright but it's also pretty. I love how it brighten my skin beautifully, and also lighten my mood by just looking at it.
Although it's matte finish, but it's not drying my lips. But if you have a dry lips, you might need to exfoliate your lips and wear a lipbalm before using this lipstick. Because this is a matte lipstick after all, it'll accentuate any dryness.
It's creamy, not as creamy as YSL Rouge Volupte, but creamy enough to slide smoothly on your lips.
It's opaque, so pigmented and stains your lips. The staying power is awesome, i used it 5 hours before it began to fade. But it's still look fresh enough because of the staining.
Overall, i'm very satisfied with this lipstick. I may not use it on daily basis when i'm in Malang. Maybe only on a formal party or on a dinner date with my husband.
But i certainly will use it a lot when i'm in Surabaya or when i'm travelling where shocking pink lips doesn't draw too much attention.
Oh, before i forgot, i bought this lipstick on TWL Cosmetic on Facebook for IDR 200k exclude shipping fee.
