Superbowl Let Down

So we had everything planned to watch the superbowl as a family, complete with hubs famous chicken wings and some sliders.

Only it ended up just being the kids and me partaking. Hubs was down for the count with food poisoning.

NOT from our food, I can assure you. We had picked up some charcoal Peruvian chicken the night before and Hubs was the only one who had the hotter jalepeno dipping sauce. The rest of us just had the mild sauce.

I'm pretty sure the hot sauce was the culprit because all of us had the chicken and he was the only one the next morning hitting the bathroom and throwing up from breakfast on. Hit him like a truck and he could not keep anything down. He just lay stretched out on the couch pretty much the whole day.

Which left me to get the festivities going with the kids.

Me, who really doesn’t care much about the game, I just come for the food. Only that was up to me too and grilling is very much my husband’s department. Oh sure, I can grill. But we were grilling chicken wings which require a whole lot of turning over so they don’t burn and carefully checking them to see when they are done. And it was cold outside. I kept running back inside to warm up!!

Then came the sliders which by the time I got them on the grill, it was dark and I couldn’t really see what I was doing. The cheese came completely off one of them and the grease from all of them was causing fire flare ups. The sliders were almost raw on the inside and singed on the outside. So much for putting wifey in the drivers seat on the grill! It was a bit of a mess, I must admit.

I’m not sure why we stuck to the plan of having all this for just the 3 of us since hubs was having enough trouble keeping just water down! I think I just wanted to keep things rolling. I managed to catch half of the game. My favorite commercial was the M&M’s one with the brown M&M. I cracked up.

Which was your favorite? Did you like the halftime show? Madonna was moving much slower and the acrobatics were very carefully controlled, I would say. I missed the bird flip by M.I.A and saw it on the news. Don't think my kids noticed it either or they panned it out on tv.

I was glad it was a good game and I guess if truth be told, I was happy the Giants won. I'm really just glad that hubs is over his food poisoning and we didn't have to make a trip to the emergency room or anything.

Watching the Superbowl this weekend? Sadly, my team isn’t in it. The only reason I’ll watch it is for the commercials and an excuse to have all my favorite junk food! I hope to find more fun commercials like my all time favorite one from Walmart with the dad who dresses up like a clown for his kids birthday party and then steps on a toy unicorn and scares the kids to death?!!! I nearly peed my pants watching that one.

Anyway, hope there are a bunch of good ones for viewing, like this one I got a chuckle from….

Wordless Wednesday

Had to turn on the fireplace the other day just to make sure it still worked! It’s been so mild here this winter, I actually missed not having a nice fire in the family room to cozy things up!

Although we have a gas fireplace, I do miss the smell and real warmth that a wood fireplace gives. But I also enjoy the ease and convenience of the gas. Flip a switch, instant flame.
