Hey you guys!

How have you been? I hope all is well. I know it's been a minute

but I've been tending to my other blogs. However, I haven't forgot about you.

So, I thought I'd share something huge with you.

So yesterday, I was scrolling through one of my favorite website for recipes,

Cooking Light and as I'm scrolling, I see this ad pop up. Do you see it?

Yep ladies and gentlemen, that is me. Reverbnation decided to promote me. Wow! Talk about being caught off guard.I was so amazed. I couldn't believe it. I still can't but I'm humbled and know that I'm blessed. I just wanted to pop in share that, say thank you for you unwavering support and purchase. You all are quite amazing.

Remember to follow your dreams, because they do come true. You just need prayer and action with a lot of determination, drive and persistence. Never give up, you never know how close you are to fulfilling your dreams.

SOY: Save Our Youth

Ever heard of an organization called: S.O.Y. Save Our Youth? Well they have just put together a book and it's a collection of poetry that speaks out about child abuse. Written by various poets, the collection was put together to raise child abuse awareness and inform people of the danger that comes with it. All proceeds from this title goes to the Save Our Youth Foundation (SOY).

The spearhead of this project is Author and Poet David Motte better known as Mr. Metaphoria. His mission to help Save Our Youth with one action at a time. In his words:

"SOY is foundation that advocates for abused children as well as fight daily to prevent abuse from happening. Please purchase to help a great cause, to move in the steps of helping in Saving Our Youth and on top of that read some really great poetry."

"Be the change you wish to see in this world."

That is the reason Sonia Singh and Pamela Tahim Thakur founded Kind-Hearted Compassion in Action Foundation. Pamela had a conversation with her late brother Jasdeep Tahim whose request was to help him start a movement through music and art to uplift the consciousness of humanity. Unbeknownst to her, he would take his last breath a few days later, leaving that mission with them. Since then, without much effort, Sonia and Pamela started meeting people with the same goals and we moved forward with the non-profit.

They met the incredibly talented filmmaker Teplán Lili, musician Trevous Leviticus Millhouse, and human rights activists Steven Sweetleaf, Aj Redkey, and others who they will be recognizing as grant recipients at our event "Elevate Genius" at the historic place called The Yost Theater on December 12, 2015.

Hey everyone:

It's been a minute since I've been around but I wanted to share a little something with you. Since you've been on my blog, you've been around enough to know that I'm a writer. You know that I'm not just a writer. It's who I am. I feel as though I can write anything, if I get the chance to glance at it and/or learn a little bit about it. So with that said, you should know that I write poetry, articles, short stories, essays and more.

But in regard to the more, is what I will start to unveil. I've been a song-writer since the age of fourteen as well as a lyricist but neither were my dreams to pursuit, just the writing part of it. I've dabbled with them two on and off for years. I even have a few songs out on contracts in case they are ever used, and as far as being lyricist, I even have a whole ablum, that I never put out. However I'm still in love with my lyrics and they are still relevant today. Today, I just felt like sharing one of my songs.

The premise for this song: I had been broken hearted and had a conversation with the stranger about love, and there you have it. *Please note that all things published on this blog and others have been copyrighted. Enjoy and have a great day!

HBO Access Writing Fellowship.... "My Answer"

I tried to do the HBO Access Writing Program Submission: But something happened with the site and then all kinds of other complications. So, I was not sad, just looked at it as, it was not meant to be. However it was a great experience because it was a writing exercise to answering their question "How has your background influenced your story telling?" I enjoyed writing about it. Please see below:

How Has Your Background Influenced Your Story Telling?

The question was raised; how has your background influenced your storytelling? The answer is simple, my family and friends, television, elementary school and my imagination. As a child, my family always shared stories of plenty, experiences were many and that was quite exciting to me. Because, if you knew my family, you’d know that no story is boring, for animation and demonstrations play a big part in delivery. It was then I learned that there were different types of fun and intensity when it came to furnishing a narrative.

So, when I began elementary school, turns out, writing was apart of me, actually it’s who I am. I won a few essay contests and it was there I honed my aptitude of combining my animated yet fun inherited personality with the ability to create pictures with words. An illustrational art form I’d manifest on paper. My own experiences with friends in and out of school while growing up were memorable and as those moments passed I would relive them in my head time and time again to hold onto what it was for me. I would write about them to immortalize my monumental moments and feelings to keep, and you can say that was the beginning of me knowing just how powerful writing could be.

I began to love and cherish everything. Life became my biggest inspiration because I knew I could form my world the way I wanted it to be seen, through my eyes but from my perspective, and how liberating. From the most painful heartbreak, to seeing a beautiful butterfly flutter by, or someone passing away, I’m engulfed by it all. My indulgence is great. I find it astonishing how you could imagine something and make it apparent, or remember a food you tasted years ago and can instantly taste it again and make people feel this with words. Wow! That is strong; what a pinnacle point to arrive at, and when you add reading and writing to the equation, that is truly what made my imagination even more vivid, with a mixture of mild and dramatic, sometimes enhanced with a sweet edge. This is why I always say writers rule the world, because they can make you feel any way they want to, persuade you to think and see differently, they have control and there is nothing anyone can do about it. I’m proud to be apart of that club. As you can see my background is colorful without in depth detail, I still believe I should have resonated with you, at least my writing should have.

Though true enough my background doesn’t reek of many accolades (in society) to solidify being an official writer, however, my passion, imagination, animation, brightness, cleverness and just my love of/for writing; allows me to be open, provides me fast catching ability with the right guidance and direction, makes me a great candidate.

Until Speaks: Harbor College Gym October 2014

I received an opportunity to speak to sixteen beautiful unique young women ranging from the ages of 18 through 23 in the Harbor College Basketball Gym after their game. This took place on October 30th of 2014 at 8pm. When I was first introduced, I realized right before I went up to speak, I was heavily nervous, however when I heard my name, I easily became comfortable.

I couldn't believe it because way before getting ready to arrive, I was contemplating back and forth, praying to God every five minutes asking him to send me some words, asking him to give me the right words to speak and that he allow me to have a positive influence with great impact; and as sure as I stood up in front of
those fresh new faces, I was good to go.

I thanked them for having me, and told them my name. After my name I began with "with that being said, I'm not here to try and impress you. I'm not here to try and razzle, dazzle my words for you. I'm also not here to show off material things because they mean nothing. I'm just here to tell my story, and give you a few bullet points from the story I will share, for you to take with you with hopes you learn how to build a cushioning foundation. You are all young and have the world ahead of you and you need to know that the decisions you make right now, can and will affect your future." From there, I told my story and then added the following notes you'll find listed below:

Until Speaks:

A woman of your own (not house, job, clothes, jewelry) but,

Own belief, faith and trust in God and yourself

Own love and great character, spirit, soul and more

Own determination, will and drive

Own person, vision (dreams and goals)

What happens when you fall? (not to wallow in your pain, but developing a new plan)

How to live abase and abound

The beginning process to beginning again

Not letting your mistakes define you, forgive yourself

It’s now how you fall it’s how you get up, recover

Some things to take with you:

Never compromise yourself for someone who will never compromise themselves for you

Never make someone a priority who always and constantly make you an option

Nobody is going to fight harder for you than you (with the exception of certain people God has placed in your life to be apart of getting you where you need to be)

Always give back, to God first, yourself /family and the community.

*At the end of my speech I gave them all a Black Swan Publishing Packet which included my book "I Just Want to Write" and I must say those young ladies were wonderful. I only hope I'm around to see what they are going to do in the future. It was truly amazing to know that they liked my speech, could relate and became inspired; from their lips to my ears left me feeling great about the experiences I've had because my speech could potentially help them not step where I've stepped. Inspire them to maneuver very differently than what they were at first thinking.

The Los Angeles Black Book Expo (LABBX) 2014

Well everyone, it's official. I am no longer the Youth Director for The Los Angeles Black Book Expo. I resigned September 29th 2014. To my understanding there will not be an event this year as well. This is very sad considering this is our 10th year anniversary and it won't have a proper send off, celebration or retirement if this should happen to be that.

There was just too many humps to hurtle, too much happening behind the scenes that was never ever going to be exposed and because of this, others have taken much of the blame. However, I digress.

I've held that position for six years and it was wonderful, I will miss it and many things about it, but I must continue to move forward in pursuing the rest of my dreams. Which I am currently in progress.

I have contributed much to the LABBX and received more than ever. I'm grateful for and to all who has supported me and the organization and I thank you for being there. May you be around for the next journey (in which you've been so far) and may you enjoy the ride on this one.

Remember to "Keep the Literacy." I know I will, as that is a Cause that is near and dear to my heart that I will support always. May you do the same.

Until's Random Progress Report 2014

Hey everyone!

Did you miss me? I missed you too. Well, I just wanted to check in and say hello to you and let you know about the updated status of me. I've been doing well. God has been blessing me back to back and although in the mist of my blessings, I've also been encountering trials, however, I choose to focus on the good.

So, what's new? As some of you already know, my book; I Just Want to Write! I'm so excited because it's been doing well. However, I postponed advertising it because I"ve had to really return back my focus on the Children's Zone of the Los Angeles Black Book Expo in which I am the Youth Director for because that has become a stressful situation. We've changed venue's twice, working on getting our third, but due to no fault of our own of course. So, deposits had to be returned, and schedule rearranging became more important because not only has the venues changed a couple of times, so have the dates. Now, I'm glad to say that the date is October 25th of 2014 and I will update you when we have a venue and a renew of my Children's Zone Schedule. Woo hoo!!! Glad that's in order.

What 's next is that I've been working on a new project simultaneously in concurrent with these others, though I'm keeping it quiet at this moment because I'm almost done and I will be announcing it real soon, hopefully next month. All I can tell you to do is look forward to seeing the name "Simple Treasures." I'm too excited to be writing this, right now. LOL! Ok, last but not at all least, I have just got a new car. Yes... a NEW CAR!!!! This past Saturday my husband purchased for me a brand new Nissan Rogue. OMG!!! Can I just tell you that I love it? I mean, can I tell you that? Lol! It is beautiful. For years I've been wanting an SUV for many sentimental reasons and I finally have one, it is truly amazing.

As you can see, I have a couple of things that has made me happy. Hope all is well with you and I would love to hear about your goals, dreams and/or endeavors that you've currently achieved or working on, so share. My Second Quill...

I want to say somewhere around 2004 a lady by the name of Annette Moore who was my supervisor at the time, bought something for me. It was very special. The occasion was my birthday. Annette is the type of person that really shows an interest in whatever you are doing when she likes you and truly cares. That is how she is to me.

Another thing about Annette, is when she recognizes a great worker, she acknowledges them, and she, acknowledged me often. The job that I had, didn't really pay me what I was worth at that time and she knew that, and without my knowledge she tried a few times to win me a significant raise, it just wasn't in her power to get me what she thought I should have. However, to make up for it, she paid attention to my likes, interest and hobbies and always provided me small gestures of happiness, which warmed my heart time and time again. To know that someone cared about me and appreciated me that way.

With all of that said. What she bought me, was my second quill. I must share with you that I used it for the first time tonight to sign my very first published poetry edition called "I Just Want to Write!" to myself. A long awaited dream of mine by the way.

A lot of people don't know this but, I'm in love with words, paper, quills, ink, coffee, tea and anything that has to do with my lifestyle (a writers lifestyle). So, when someone takes interest in that and put thought into something they knew I would love, appreciate and hold dear to my heart, it's cherished forever. I don't often speak with Annette Moore but she means much to me and she knows she does. So, Annette, if you're reading this, I just wanted to say "Thank you so much for all you've ever done for me and especially when you gave me my quill."

Friendly Competition

There is no such thing as a friendly competition in my opinion. Simply because I believe that when you have a friend that is in someway finds themselves competing with you. Secretly that means they have a desire to see you beneath them. They have a drive to be the so called special one, they want something that everyone sees and knows about you, that they know they don't possess.

To me, that can grow into envy and then jealousy and as my mother always say "Jealousy is as cruel as the grave." So, when you start to see this happening, depending on who your friend is, because you're the only one who may know this person intimately; try and talk them, see where their head is at, and if you know for a fact and feel that this will never change. Then, ease your hand out of the lion's den until you've completely disappeared from their existence. Better to remove yourself gracefully than to stay and try and reason with someone that will not understand you, or just don't want to because their plain goal is for you to be the mat that they walk on.

When we use the word “jealous,” we use it in a sense of being envious of someone who has something we do not have. This kind of jealousy is a sin and is not characteristic of a Christian; rather, it shows that we are still being controlled by our own desires (1 Corinthians 3:3). Galatians 5:26 says, “Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”

Being jealous indicates that we are not satisfied with what God has given us. The Bible tells us to be content with what we have, for God will never fail or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). In order to combat jealousy, we need to become more like Jesus and less like ourselves. We can get to know Him through Bible study, prayer, and fellowship with mature believers. As we learn how to serve others instead of ourselves, our hearts will begin to change. “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).

People pretend to be your friend all of the time, and because they can do it for so long and so well, it might take you just a little longer to detect. When this is the case, I will put you up on game. Here is what you do--

#1. No longer eat with them.
#2. No longer share your personal dreams and goals with them.
#3. Let them have the upper hand in all things, conversations and actions.

Take low in all things. You are doing this to slowly pull your hand out of the lion's den and please continue to pray while you're doing these things and soon you will see a change, soon you will see how God will change it for what he think is best. Remember, God is on your side if you are pure, meaning always trying to do your best by people, your actions, your ways and all... He will meet you more than half of the way. Trust me... This will be up only for an hour or so, don't say I didn't give you any thing.
