"My ancestor is a Sailorman" That’s the slogan sometimes told by Indonesian to their self.They are famous well known as the great sailorman in Nusantara. There are some ethnics are famous as the sailorman in Indonesia, they are Bugis/Bajo’e, Makassar, and Mandar ethnic. They have been exploring the ocean in Asia long time ago before the Portuguese and Spain arrive in Asia.

Some evidence still could be find in Australia and Africa till today is the Buginese traditional village. It has been showing about the truth of the history.

Buginese, Makassar, and Mandar voyage the ocean from Asia to Australia and Africa. They voyage it by using traditional boat well known as Phinisi and Sandeq boats. They explore the world only by using feeling and weather forecast by see natural condition at time. In a book written by Mr. John Perkins “the secret history of The American Empire” explains that the buginese’s pirates are very cruel man. They kill all of the Spanish who come to Sulawesi at time.

All of that has shown the capability of Indonesian specially Buginese, Makassar, and Mandar ethnic as the great Sailorman. Beside of that they have capability to dive without any equipment in Depth of the Sea to find out fishes.

Now as Indonesian we must brave told to our children about the history in other to no any Nations claim it again looks like done by Malaysia.

Green Canyon

Green Canyon, that’s the name of tourism object in West Java. It’s located in Kertayasa Village, Ciamis, West Java, about 31 km from Pangandaran. The name of Green Canyon introduced by tourist from France. The green colour of the river’s water become the reason to namely Green Canyon but before it’s well known as Cukang Taneuh (Sundanese Language) means bridge made of the land. The bridge has 3 meters width and 40 meters length. It’s connecting Kertayasa Village and Batukaras.

Green Canyon in fact is a river with the green water. The name of the river is Cijulang River. The visitor could explore the area by boats with maximal 5 passengers by paying 75.000 rupiahs/boat. As long as the travel we could visit the cave at the river side, enjoying the beautiful hill, playing in the unique boat, and enjoy the singing of the birds at around the forest in the Green Canyon side.

The view inside of the cave is very beautiful. Stalactite and Stalagmite very beautiful and never stop to produce water. The water distributed to the hill and it’s called as the immortal rain. Panorama in Kawah Ijen

Kawah Ijen is a tourism place and very interesting place. Kawah ijen is a crater content by the acid. It’s located at the top of Ijen Mount, East Java. It’s about 2368 meters above sea water level, 200 meters depth, and 5466 meters square large.
Kawah Ijen is a part of Natural Reservation area of Ijen, Bondowoso regency, east Java. This is a very wonderful place. The panorama at around is very great and I believe it’s will make the all visitors satisfied. Sometimes the visitors who come to Bondowoso said that this is the most beautiful place.

This area made as a camping place by the visitors caused the air still very pure and beautiful panorama. The color of the water crater’s, smoke of sulfur makes this place different with the others. The sense is very comfort and could remove our stress and help our self to renew our mind. Moreover the condition here could get 2 degree Celsius so we suggest you to bring thick clothes. Beside of that, you will find edelweiss flower and switch as the main fauna here.

In the morning, you could enjoy the raising sun appear from the tree cluster. The water of the Kawah Ijen in green mix with the blue color and from this place we could enjoy the beautiful panorama of Merapi at near of Ijen Mount. But not easy to get this area, I mean you will be little tired caused must be walking over the path and the caldera hill, its taken 8 till 10 hours walking around the caldera. Once more you must bring masker to remove the sulfur smelt. Hoping me you will come to this place and enjoy the panorama.

Fort Rotterdam Castle of Makassar

Fort Rotterdam is a castle as the heritage of Gowa-Tallo Kingdom. The name of Fort Rotterdam given by governor of Holland. And it is located at western of Makassar as the capital town of South Sulawesi, Indonesia.

The castle is held in 1545 by the 9th King of Gowa “I Manrigau Daeng Bonto Karaeng Lakiung Tupama’risi’kallonna”. Former it is built from clay but the construction change by others King Sultan Alauddin be rock from the Kars Mountain which spread as long as South Sulawesi area. This castle has unique structure, if we see carefully this castle resemble with a turtle.
In fact, the truth name of this castle formerly is Ujung Pandang Castle or called by the villagers there as the Panyyua Castle or Turtle castle. But the pure name changed by the Governor of Holland in Makassar ‘Cornelis Speelman’ become Fort Rotterdam to remind his made home in Holland. By the government of Holland at time, this castle use as the central warehouse of spice in western of Indonesia before sends to Holland.

For the visitors you could enjoy the architecture of ancient building and inside of it there is museum namely La Galigo and the ex of Sultan Diponegoro jail. The museum will be present the history and reference of the Great Makassar (Gowa-Tallo) Kingdom in the past. Of course this is a very interesting historical tourism for you. In the museum the visitors could see strictly the traditional weapon of Sulawesi, traditional clothes and many others.

Toba Lake, North Sumatera

Toba Lake is a famous tourism place in North Sumatera, Indonesia. It length about 100 km and 30 km width, at the middle of lake there is a beautiful island namely Samosir Island. Toba Island has become tourism object from Holland colonialism era.

According to the scientist it is created by huge explosion about 73000-75000 years ago and well known as the newest super volcano explosion. The volcano explosion make about 2800 km2 material out from the earth and causing ash spread till China and Africa. Because of that explosion made 60% death in the world more over it is claimed make ice era in the world at time although this information still controversial.

Toba Lake is very beautiful place with the panorama at around. It is offers nurturing environment for fish such as Tilapia mossambica, Chana gachua, etc…Various flora organism such as phytoplankton and some fauna likes zooplankton and benthos. Toba Lake has become livelihood place for the villagers there. They take a fish from the lake and doing daily activity by using Toba’s water. So it is not strange if you see there some villagers take a bath and clean their cloths in the lake.

The villager’s activity has made pollutant in the Toba’s water although it is not lack the beautiful panorama there. I give you this information in order to the visitors and tourist who want to go there keep clean this place caused the pollutant which happened in Toba Lake not only made by the Villagers but it is contributed by the visitors too. Some visitors waste their rubbish in anyplace.

Kodingareng Keke Island is located in Makassar, south Sulawesi. The name is a little strange and very odd in our ear but in fact that’s a beautiful island. It is an island from eleven which included as Spermonde shelf of Makassar.

This island is northern of Kodingareng Lompo, at about 14 kilometers from Makassar town. It’s an oval island content of white sand and various reefs. No villagers in this area but there are cottages there, with cheap tariff and very clean. It is very good place to spend our night by enjoying the beautiful panorama, moreover for the visitors who want to enjoy the beautiful reef; they can rent snorkeling equipment which has been prepared there.

Now, how about the transportations? This island could be taken by boat or traditional boat about 40 minutes from Bangkoa harbor. For the visitors who interested want to go there, the tariff only Rp 300.000 for ten people by boat or about Rp30.000/people. According to the visitors, this island is very interesting with the white sand, clean water without pollutant, various reef, and fish species. So just enjoy and prove by your self.

Gitgit Waterfall (Waterfall in Bali)

Bali is a beautiful island. There so many tourism objects could be found in Bali. One of them is Gitgit Waterfall. Gitgit waterfall is located in Buleleng regency, about an hour from Bedugul.

In Gitgit waterfall you could enjoy the panorama of natural forest at around and get the fresh air. The water in this area is very fresh and pure so you could remove your stress as an effect from working rush hour in a big city moreover this place is good for tracking area; turning path and mounting location make this place offering great challenge.

How to get this place, maybe that’s the question. By using private car from Denpasar take a way to Singaraja trough Bedugul. You do not worry will be lost if you go to there, I mean just ask to the villagers if you lost and they will help you very well.

How to make Batik and where we could get the course

Yogyakarta is a beautiful town; you not only just buy and enjoy the great batik artwork, but get opportunity to learn the batik production. This package includes the interesting tourism traveling with short duration and low cost, surely its very comfort.

At that place you can learn how to make batik pattern such as hand-made batik, printed batik, and painted batik. Of course all place offering own specification about Batik which we are learned. For a day it’s divided into 2 sessions and the trainee teach to make batik from motif making, coloring, wax dying, and drying.

The batik pattern process will be begun when all material is ready. Pattern process will be done with wax as the main material, of course we need cloth looks like a canvas as media to make a pattern. If you want to make hand–made batik, we could use wax pen is called canting to make it, but if we want to make print batik it will be using copper print which has been design as our plan.

All unique patterns could be made according to the trainee such as ceplok pattern, cecek sawut, and semen pattern. All of that are pattern of ancient building in Indonesia. Ceplok pattern is Borobudur temple’s, cecek sawut is a bronze accessories pattern from bronze era, and semen pattern could be found in the Kalinyamat funeral.

Pattern process already finishes and continued to the coloring. The patterned cloth dips into the coloring bucket. Looks like this process is very simple but it’s difficult enough, moreover if we want to make Batik more than two color. Many Batik artisans still using natural coloring but some of them use synthetics.

If the coloring process already finish, batik process will be continued to dying the wax, or removing the wax attaching to the cloth. It is done by preparing boiling water mixed with soda ash and finally the cloth is dipped to remove the entire wax. If there is still wax attached, it must be cleaned after the dying process.

Final step in batik process is washing, if the artisans use natural coloring not suggest using detergent caused it will be removed the color. After washing process continues with the drying, the cloth placed in the windy area, it is proposed to avoid coloring damage. Batik with the synthetics coloring will be delight than the natural.

Batik course place in Yogyakarta prepare professional trainer so the trainee could be an expert in a short time. For information, some trainers could be speaking English well and it will be easier the foreigner to do communication.

Some of the batik Course in Yogya is Sanggar Kalpika in Kampung Taman, Batik course place in Kusumanegara Street, etc... The course place offering various costs to learn batik it is 250.000 rupiahs to 1.500.000.

Komodo Island has been chosen as a New 7 Wonders of Nature. This island chosen by voting doing of United Nation in 2009. Komodo Island is located to Nusa Tenggara Island, Indonesia or it is located in eastern of Bali.

This island is very famous with Komodo as the animal there and Indonesia has been making this island as National park of Komodo. Komodo is a scarce animal, the body looks like dinosaurs but the size is smaller one. According to the research department of forestry of Indonesia, there were about 1300 komodo there but if accumulate with quantity of Komodo which spread at others island, all about 2500.

Beside of Komodo, in this island there is unique plantation called by Kayu Sepang and uses by the villagers as medicine and coloring. The trunk of this plant sometimes taken to coloring the drinking water although makes the water be red.

One of the heritage there, is Batik Aceh although batik popular in Java Island. Glamour and beautiful you gets as the first impression when you see it caused it has different motif with the others. The motif of the Aceh batik shows combination cultural and natural colorful makes it glamour.

According to the makers of batik Aceh, the colorful nuance as a symbol of Aceh’s people. The motif tends to tell that the Aceh’s people are introvert men but if the others already known them, they will be very friendly. Is it right if the three islands in Mentawai sold? The clarification about it comes from the government official controlling of fishery resource of Indonesia Mr. Aji Sularso. He said that the information is a big liar. After Wayang and Keris as the pioneers, “batik” successful be a heritage of Indonesia. United nation Education Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) define it as one of the specific cultural heritage of Indonesia and be a Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the world. Why batik could become the heritage of Indonesia? Caused batik is the Icon of Indonesia.

Batik is very popular in Indonesia and develops it as the traditional clothes in Java Island since hundreds years ago. Because of the popularity, Batik spread to Malaysia brought by the migration of Indonesian to that Country. However as long as we love using Indonesian product, I am sure we always are best man and our product never been claim by another.

Now, the question is “Do we still have the character? I do not think so. Why? Just asking to your self as the Indonesian!

Taka Bonerate National Sea Park as Celebes Mainstay Tourism

Taka Bonerate National Sea Park is located in Kabupaten Selayar, South Sulawesi. This area is famous well known as the third of the largest atoll in the world after Kwajifein in Marshal Island and Suvadiva in Maldives Island. The large about 220.000 hectare, with reef spread as long as that area about 500 square km. This national sea park is a mainstay of Celebes Tourism and Indonesia Tourism caused of the beautiful scenery.

The topography is very interesting and unique which the atoll content of black rock and huge reef, formed be an island and between black rocks contain of small hill strait. Moreover, in the flat surface contain of fish pools closed by the reef. There are some plantations there but coconut (Cocos nucifera), Sea Pandan (Pandanus sp.), casuarinas, and almond tree (Terminalia catappa) dominate it.

Talking about reef, this area has been identified has 261 reef species from 17 family’s e.g. Pocillopora eydouxi, Montipora danae, Acropora palifera, Porites cylindrical, Pavona clavus, and Fungia concinna. Almost all of them are barrier reef and fringing reef with beautiful scenery. About 295 fish species found here, more of them are rockfish, 244 mollusk species, and some turtles make this area become their habitats. In fact there are 15 islands in Taka Bonerate that could be visited to diving, snorkeling, and others tourism activities. The best visiting time between April to June and from October to December yearly caused at the time the wave not so high.

Selayar as the place of Taka Bonerate National Sea Park could be get by ferry (small ship) from Bulukumba seaport about 2 hours and then continue to Benteng about 1.5 hours. From Benteng the traveling will be continuing to the Rajuni Island as a part of Taka Bonerate National Sea Park in 5 hours.

Samalona is the name of a beautiful Island in South Sulawesi. This island is a Celebes Tourism place and it is located in Kecamatan Mariso about 6.8 km from the seashore of Makassar as the Capital town of South Sulawesi. The visitors could dive and snorkeling for enjoying the beautiful sea there. This island contents of coral and become various vegetation habitats, white sand spread so clean and large. Moreover, 20 meters from the Samalona beach is a shallow area but in the Eastern and Northern could be 30 meters depth.

National Sea Park of Wakatobi as the Asset of Celebes Tourism

Wakatobi (Wangi-wangi, Kaledupa, Tomia, and Binongko) in fact is the name of four beautiful islands in South East Celebes, Indonesia. It is found as National Sea Park in 1996 and become one of the famous Celebes Tourism place. According to the research done by the WWF Indonesia Marine Program and the Nature Conservancy – Southeast Asia Center for Marine Protected Areas this area is very beautiful caused have various biotas and the second of the longest coral in Indonesia. It has been showing that the Wakatobi is the central of Coral Biota Species and almost same with species found in Milne Gulf Papua Nugenea and Komodo Island in Indonesia.

In Wakatobi National Sea Park, the Visitors could enjoy the beautiful of this island, diving, snorkeling, camping, and cultural tourism. For diving activities, the tourist could enjoy the beautiful of various coral species like fish, craps, mollusk, lobster, and coral plant. The Tourism of Surabaya's Old Building

Surabaya is the capital of East Java Province, Indonesia. This is the second big city after Jakarta. So many modern buildings were built in this city for business centre, offices, hotels, etc. Besides the modern buildings, we can find the old buildings which were built in the colonialism era. Jembatan Merah area was the centre of the business and the government activities in the past time. Became the most strategic and important area for supporting and controlling the governmental and the economical progressed in the whole area of East Java in the 18 till 19 century.

Kalimas River

The east side of Jembatan Merah, which over Kalimas River, was Asian area. Chinese, Malay, and Arabic people were living in this area. It is located at Kembang Jepun Street, and in the west side, was European area that is located at Rajawali Street. That is why there are so many old buildings that have different styles. European style in the west side and Asian style in the east side of Jembatan Merah. These old buildings are the witness of the colonialism era. Now if u visits Surabaya, you will see the beauty of these old buildings.

In 2008, tourist arrivals to Indonesia increased by 13.2%. The Economic crisis and travel advisories warning not give much impact to the Indonesia Tourism. If we compare with our neighbor country Thailand, Indonesia is better caused in the same year Thailand getting security trouble, where anti-government protests closed the country’s main international airport during November 2008. According to the data and explanation of Tourism and Culture minister of Indonesia Jero Wacik, Indonesia estimate receipt income about US$7.33 billion.

However, 2009 Will Be Challenging, one of the most important to increase and easier the travel of tourist is air travel but this country has black note record. In April 2009, the pilot of the Garuda Indonesia Boeing 737 that crashed at Yogyakarta Airport in March 2007, killing 21 people, was found guilty of criminal negligence and jailed for two years. Marwoto Komar ignored some 15 cockpit warnings not to land his plane as he tried to land at twice the safe speed .Reaction from families of the five Australian victims has been critical, with many saying that a two-year sentence was too lenient. Indeed, prosecutors had been seeking a longer four-year term. Certainly, the trial has done much to remind foreign travelers that air travel in Indonesia remains less safe than elsewhere in the region.

Public election process could be making awareness to the visitors make security stability in Indonesia unstable. The Paradise of Sea Park in Raja Ampat

Kabupaten Raja Ampat is an area of province West Papua, Indonesia. This area has 610 islands and atoll; four of the big are Misoo, Salawati, Batanta, and Waigeo. These areas have 4 million square meters land and make it as the biggest sea park in Indonesia. It is make it as a favorite Indonesia tourism place after Bali and Lombok.

The life of animals and sea biota in Raja Ampat is very various than others sea park in the world, well known as triangle world coral, Philippine-Indonesia-Papua Nugenea. This coral has become the hearth of world coral and protected according to the International protection regulation. Raja Ampat could be visited by ship (phinisi typical ship) which has been designed for diving aims. This ship could be moving about 10-12 knot from Sorong Harbor to Dampier Strait in Raja Ampat area.

One of the most famous in Raja Ampat is Sardine Reef is located in Kri Island as the center of under sea water kingdom in the world. This area have two resorts managed by Max Ammer, a Holland who fallen love to Raja Ampat. The Kri Island is a diving spot and well known caused the various fishes is very amazing. Dr. Gerald R Allen has researched this place and notes there are 283 fishes here. The topography is slopping steep with the beautiful coral and fishes cluster. The fishes e.g. Kuwe, shark, Napoleon Wrasse, Barracuda, Giant Trevally, etc… Therefore, it is reasonable if this place called as the Paradise of seawater world. More over this island have 537 corals and representative 75% of corals in the world, 828 fishes, according to the survey and research by world’s ecosystem official.

If you go to this place in full moon, beside look the beautiful of moon you will be greeting by dolphin cluster as long as your travel to Raja Ampat which jump and swim at ship side. As information the cost to visit this place from Sorong about US$200 by speed boat (10-15 persons).

Agung Mount as a Bali Tourism

Agung mount is the highest peak on Bali Island with 3142 meters above the sea water level. It is located in Kecamatan Rendang, Kabupaten Karangasem-Bali. This mount is a volcano type, has huge crater, and sometimes produce smoke and steam.

A destructive eruption occurred in 1963. Victims were killed by flow of magma about 820 persons, ejected glowing rock fragments and volcanic ash falls about 163 persons, and 165 persons were killed by lahars. However, today that area saves for the visitor, although the magma activity still active. In the morning you could enjoy the beautiful scenery in around of Agung mount, fresh air with misty area. There is no word we should say than "How beautiful is it".
