If your web site looks good in Internet Explorer it may not render well in Firefox. You could be losing a lot of visitors to your web site if it doesn't display correctly to your visitors. They will simply click away to your competitors. You need to check how your web site appears on multiple browsers.

So what should you do to check cross browser compatibility and what browsers should you test for?

Browser statistics

The most popular browsers used these days are: Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 8, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera. In Sept 2009 Firefox received the highest monthly usage at 46.6% followed by Internet Explorer 7.

Ways to test your web site for different browsers

If you're the owner of a web site don't rely on your web designer to test your site in different browsers, screen resolutions and operating systems. Check it yourself as you may be losing thousands of visitors if it's not displaying correctly. For web designers, use the methods below:

1. Install multiple browsers on your computer

You can install Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari browsers on the same computer without causing compatibility problems.

2. Online resources

Adobe Browser Lab

Sign up for an adobe account then test your web site. Alternatively if you use Dreamweaver CS4 for designing web sites, you can download extensions for it.

Browser Shots

Check the list of browser names, enter your URL and you'll receive screen shots for how your web site appears. It generates screenshots for a web page in more than 80 versions of the most common browsers used in Windows, Linux, BSD and Mac. The process takes time and you may have to wait up to an hour to see the screenshots.

Browser Cam

You can sign up for a free trial and get 24 hours of free usage for the screen capture service or a maximum of 200 screen captures.

IE NetRenderer

This site is a free service that allows you to check how a website is rendered by Internet Explorer 7, 6 or 5.5, as seen from a high speed datacenter located in Germany. You just type in your URL.

3. Firefox Add-on

This add-on lets you load pages in IE with a single right-click, or mark certain sites to *always* load in IE.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/3096310

Using Top Sites in Safari 4

The Safari 4 Web browser has a feature called Top Sites that will create a homepage for you based on the Web pages you visit most often. You can also customize this page to permanently show pages you choose.

To see your Top Sites page, choose History, Show Top Sites or use the keyboard shortcut Command+1. You can also click on a button in the toolbar that looks like 12 squares in a grid. You will see a 3D grid of 12 Web pages, plus some buttons at the bottom.

As you roll over each item, you will see the name of the page and the full URL at the bottom of the window. Click on any one of the items and the page will jump to that Web page.

The sites shown will change depending on which Web sites you have been going to most recently. But you can add pages that will stick and remain there permanently.

One way to manually add a page is to go to the Web page you wish to add and choose Bookmarks, Add Bookmark. Then choose Top Sites from the pull-down menu to add that page to it rather than a bookmarks list.

You can customize Top Sites by clicking on the Edit button at the bottom left. Then each page shown will have a X and a pin button at the top left. Click the X button to permanently remove the page. Click the pin button to indicate that the page should always be shown.

You can also click and drag the pages around the grid to reposition them. If you have another browser window open, you can click on the address or site icon in the address bar and drag it over to the first window to add it.

While editing, at the bottom right of the Top Sites page you can select the number of pages to be shown by clicking Small, Medium or Large. When you are done editing, click the Done button at the lower left corner.

If you like the Top Sites page, you can make it your default by going to Safari, Preferences and then looking at the General preferences. Select Top Sites in either "New windows open with" or "New tabs open with" or both.

You can also go directly to a 3D view of your browsing history. Just click in the Search field at the bottom right corner of Top Sites to go there. You can scroll through all of your history, or narrow it down by typing a search term.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/3237694

Safari 5 tech issues

Safari factory default browser for Macs and also available for Windows, is one of the main references when talking about the Internet and its standards. Compatible with all major technologies used on the web as HTML 5, Flash and Silverlight.

One of the first to offer discrete navigation modes, in which passages for websites that store information from the Web is not recorded, Safari also introduces a number of facilities in relation to the way the world uses the internet. Integrated RSS reader is an example, allowing subscriptions from your favorite content.

Safari Reader is a tool that bypasses advertisements or any other graphic visual element in a web page. Safari detects whether the page contains an article. Then simply enable Safari Reader by clicking on the icon located in the address bar and Safari gives us ability to look at it in a clean view, without additional elements. User may change the text size zoom, and send it to print or email.

Apple and Microsoft were never very friendly companies, but with the release of Safari 5 Bing have joined the list of search engines that come preinstalled, accompanying Google and Yahoo. Behind the scenes, the lighter programming and new engines, codes responsible for interpretation of the various elements of a site, Safari in one of the fastest browsers that exist today.

One of the great merits of Firefox on other browsers, including Safari has always been easy for creating extensions and Add-ons. Therefore with version 5, Apple facilitates the development of extensions, which will be based on CSS3 and HTML5, intended for all who wish to improve the functioning of the browser and JavaScript and will run independently of the rest of the browser to ensure safety. Apple will digitally sign each extension and offer them in a Gallery of Add-ons available in the coming months. Let us hope that these extensions are cross-platform.

Safari 5 makes the revolution in the world of Web browsers. It is solid and in its speed, its numbers have been more than convincing.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/4450877

Internet Browser Choices Aplenty

In the world of internet browsers you have lots of choices. There are a lot of opinions about which one is the best and which one you should use. This article will give you the highlights and downsides of each browser so that you can make an educated decision to which browsers are right for you.

What browsers are out there?

Currently there are 4 major browsers that make up over 98% of the North American market. (statcounter, June 2010)

1) Internet Explorer 54% Current version: 8

2) Firefox 30% Current version 3.6

3) Safari 8% Current version: 4

4) Chrome 6 % Current version: 5

If you are not using the most current version of any of these browsers you should upgrade to decrease your security risks and ensure that you have the most current features.

Internet Explorer 8

Internet Explorer has been the most used browser in the world since 1999 when it started to outpace Netscape Navigator as the standard. Since then it has stayed the mainstream leader.

One of the primary benefits with Internet Explorer 8 is its seamless integration into Windows 7. New tabs are automatically shown as separate windows in your taskbar when hovering over the Internet Explorer icon. The other benefit of Internet Explorer 8 is that most web designers have to develop with this browser in mind. This means almost everything supports Internet Explorer 8 and those that do not will probably shortly.

The primary disadvantage of Internet Explorer is that it is considered slower are more resource intensive than other browsers on the market. The other drawback to Internet Explorer is its security. Though it is considered just as secure as other browsers it is more frequently the target of attacks. This means you have to update it more often to keep your version secure.

Firefox 3.6 (4.0 released June 14, 2010)

Firefox is owned and run by the Mozilla Foundation which is a non-profit organization located in California. Firefox has had a host of innovative features which has contributed to its dominance as the "alternative to Internet Explorer" in the market place.

The advantage of Firefox is the speed at which they adapt to the marketplace. They are quick to come out with new features and many of them users are automatically added to your version as soon as they come out. There are also lots of Firefox plug-ins to enhance the internet experience.

The disadvantage to Firefox is that it is still not fully supported by all webware and select websites. Their support is increasing as their market share climbs and most web designers try to accommodate for Firefox.

Safari 4

Safari's popularity is mostly due to it being standard on all apple computers, though its PC version has gained some popularity.

Safari's claim to fame is the way it looks, and the way it makes web pages look. The text will look a smoother; the forms will look nice and clear and even the buttons look better. It is also one of the fastest browsers available.

The main disadvantage to Safari is its limited support. Older websites and webware are notorious for having issues with Safari and if you are not web savvy this could be frustrating.

Article Source: http://goo.gl/6NYP9

Browsers - Gateway to the Internet

Browsers allow you to access the Internet (World Wide Web) from a system with a Net connection. The most popular browsers are

1) Microsoft's Internet Explorer

2) Mozilla FireFox

3) Netscape Browser

4) Apple's Safari

Browser Features

Browser features are presented as icons/buttons/ menu items in a toolbar.

Following are the brief explanations of most popular features, which you come across in most of the sophisticated browsers.

a) Address field

Allows you to enter or display the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) for a webpage. An URL represents the unique address for a file located on the internet. An Address field is text box which allows you to enter the text; in this case, an URL or a web address. The text box comes along with a downward facing arrow located next to the field. Clicking the downward pointed arrow, allows you to see the recently visited websites. Again, clicking anyone of these URLs will take you to the respective website.

The process to enter website address in this address field is

1) You can enter the respective website address in the Address Field text box and can press Enter on the Keyboard.

2) In some browsers, a button labeled "Go" next to the Address Field is given; clicking this button initiates a server request once you press it after entering the respective web address.

3) Most of the browsers free you from typing "http://" whenever you type a web address;
they will add "http://" for you when you press return or enter.

b) Autofill Forms Button

Autofill forms button can be looked both as a convenient and also as a dangerous feature.
This feature allows you to add your already type-in data to the targeted fields. But when using Autofill, please be mindful of the information you are providing. It is also advisable to check the information you are providing using Autofill; unless the site to whom you are providing is a trusted site.

c) Back Button

Allows you to go back to the previous page opened in a particular browser window. In some browsers, a downward arrow is provided; clicking this arrow allows you to see the previous pages that you can then choose from

d) Favorites or Bookmarks

You can create a shortcut to your favorite web pages by using the Favorite (or Bookmarks) menu or button. This is a very important feature and it works a little differently in each browser. You can also organize your Favorites menu item to place your bookmark in a folder or particular place in the list. You can either choose Show All or Manage Bookmarks to create folders and/or rearrange your bookmarks.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/806480

Alternatives to Safari - A Roundup of Mac Web Browsers

Safari 3 is an awesome browser on the Mac, but if you fancy something different, there are some great free alternatives out there for Mac users. Let's take a look at the main contenders.

Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is the second most popular browser used today (behind Microsoft's Internet Explorer on Windows). It's easy to use and reasonably fast. One of Firefox's major advantages is the wide range of add-ons available. This allows you to heavily customize your browser, with add-ons such as Forecastfox (weather reports right in your browser status bar) and iMacros (for automating browsing tasks).

Firefox's popularity and excellent standards support mean you'll have no trouble browsing the majority of websites. You'll also find that Firefox is great for sites that use in-page WYSIWYG editors, such as blog software and content management systems; traditionally Safari has struggled with such editors, though support has improved in Safari 3.

Firefox also has a superb, reliable pop-up blocker, and one of the nicest Find functions in the business, with a small Find bar at the bottom of the browser window rather than the clumsy pop-up dialog used by many other browsers. (Safari now has a similar feature in version 3.)

The main disadvantage of Firefox is that it eats up memory; if you're accustomed to having a lot of tabs open at once then it can really grind to a halt. It also doesn't integrate into Mac OS X as nicely as Safari. Firefox's bookmark handling is also clumsy; an issue if you have a lot of bookmarks.

Opera

Originally a commercial product, these days Opera is completely free to download and use. It's a full-featured browser, even incorporating mail and chat clients. Despite this, the browser is very fast at loading pages, and memory usage usually isn't an issue. The user interface is a little strange for a Mac app - some would say "dated" - but it works well enough once you're used to it.

Some nice features of Opera include a quick Wand feature for auto-filling forms; a handy Speed Dial page to quickly access your nine favourite pages; a built-in BitTorrent client; and a nice Sessions feature that lets you save the state of your opened tabs, so when you restart Opera you can carry on where you left off.

If you're after a browser with a lot of nice, useful features that's still fast and slick to use - and you don't mind a bit of time learning its interface - then Opera could be the perfect match for you.
Read more: http://EzineArticles.com/1110775

Alternative Web Browsers - What are the Choices ?

Internet surfers seeking out new web browser options have a few good choices to consider, and luckily, all the browsers in this category boast positive attributes and cool features that can make anyone's browsing experience a good one. In the end, it's up to you to pick one that fits your specific needs, as everyone looks for something different in a browser. But one thing's for sure - you'll never go back to IE.

Opera

The Opera browser sings to a tune all its own. One of the more popular alternative browsers available, it is highly acclaimed by new and veteran users alike. This browser is well-known for loading pages very quickly (especially important for those of us still puttering along on a dial-up connection) and making the browsing experience a smooth one, especially compared to the sometimes-grueling loading times that are the trademark of Internet Explorer.

Opera is lighter than its competitor as well, weighing in at much less than Internet Explorer. The browser comes with a lot of features people have come to expect in the realm of alternative browsers (such as tabbed browsing and a pop-up blocker) that make it faster and easier to navigate the web. Another thing about Opera is that it lets you choose whether or not to run certain features, such as java applets. These are small applications written in the java programming language that can slow down a browser. If you specify, you can turn off certain JavaScript functions. If you're willing to sacrifice some features that bog down other browser software in order to enjoy the benefits of a faster online experience, Opera is probably the perfect browser for you.

Opera can be downloaded for free - in the past you had to pay for the ad-free version, but with the release of the latest version all that has changed.

Another plus: no security issues have yet to be associated with the browser, so it's your best bet for surfing safely, although compatibility issues may sometimes hamper your ability to view particular websites.

Firefox

Firefox is gaining steam as a favorite alternative browser, although it has been the top choice for quite some time amongst old-school Internet addicts and those who make good use of tabbed browsing and other user-friendly features not available with Internet Explorer. As it cements its position in the world of mainstream browsers, you can expect even more people to jump on the Firefox bandwagon (Grandma included).

There's good reason why Firefox is fast becoming a favorite browser. It offers a simple design, fast browsing, and a safer Internet experience. The browser blocks pop-ups, viruses, and spyware - and it doesn't contain near as many security holes as Microsoft's IE, meaning the chance of falling prey to browser hijackers and other such online vultures is slim to none. Patches are made available very quickly when problems do arise. Browsing is faster because you won't have as much spyware clogging your computer's arteries, making your trip down the information superhighway slower than molasses.

And of course, anyone who has tried to open multiple windows on Internet Explorer knows that tabbed browsing is the most convenient way to surf the web - it sure beats having a million separate browser windows open at once. Another great aspect of tabbed browsing on Firefox: when you open a window in tabs the browser doesn't automatically take you to the new tab - instead, you remain at the original page. The latest version of Firefox even lets you move tabs around after opening them.

Alternative browsers can be a lot more fun than IE as well. Firefox, for instance, offers neat features such as live bookmarks, an integrated search bar, automatic software updates, and the ability to customize the browser by taking advantage of a number of available extensions.

As usual, the trimmed-down browsing experience means not all web pages can be accessed through Firefox. Lacking ActiveX support, this browser can't display certain types of web pages, although the majority of websites can be viewed using Firefox.

Safari

For all you Apple users out there, Safari is your best bet for an alternative web browser. If you own a Mac, you probably already know about Safari, as it came bundled with Mac OS X, but it's worth mentioning as an alternative to Internet Explorer simply because it is another option that works well for most web users.

Safari possesses all the usual browser features, such as bookmarks, but it also offers features people have come to expect from the other popular alternative web browsers currently on the market. The browser offers tabbed browsing and an integrated Google search box, similar to Firefox, and an automatic pop-up blocker. Again, like its competitors, Safari also offers a faster browsing experience for the keen Internet junkie.

Many Mac users prefer Safari to Internet Explorer for Mac for the same reasons more people have been flocking to Opera and Firefox. Overall, it makes the whole Internet experience faster, and the browser is very easy to use.

Read More: http://goo.gl/rWVcV

Review: Safari Web Browser for Mac

The foundation of any Internet marketing or online workflow is the web browser. Web browsers have evolved tremendously in the past decade and now they are almost operating systems unto themselves, capable not only a browsing webpages but of running applications as well.

Since then Web browser is so important, there are a lot To choose from for your Mac: Safari, Firefox, Camino, Chrome, Flock, OmniWeb, Opera, iCab, Internet Explorer, Lynx, Mozilla, Netscape, SeaMonkey, BumperCar, Classilla, ELinks, Lynxlet, Shiira, Sunrise, WaMCom, and WannaBe. Fortunately, the default browser for the Mac, Safari, is an excellent one.

Safari is a fast web browser and an excellent all-around choice. It has versions that run on iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, and PC. It has a space-saving interface it gets out of the way as much as possible. Safari is based on WebKit, an open source engine that was introduced by Apple engineers and now powers a number of other desktop and mobile products, including Google's Chrome web browser.

Viewing your browsing history is unique with a view similar to the Cover Flow feature in Apple's iTunes. Safari stores all the text on every page you visit so it can find sites in your history from the search terms you enter. A private browsing feature erases your Internet tracks to keep them safe from prying eyes, and Safari blocks cookies by default to keep your tracks safe online.

Features added in Safari 5 are several and significant. They include Safari reader, greater HTML 5 support, better performance, Bing search and (finally) the ability to run extensions.

Safari reader is a handy feature that displays the current web page article in a word processor-like document window free of annoying ads and other visual distractions. Quite a bit of intelligence has been built into this feature, and it works much like the printer-friendly version of articles included on some (but not all) websites.

Safari extensions, built with web standards like HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, add a wide range of features to the browser, with the promise of adding many more in the future. Apple runs a list of featured extensions in its Safari Extensions Gallery, and you can manage your installed extensions in the extensions pane of Safari preferences.
Read more: http://goo.gl/Gnoa1

How to Search With Safari

The main function of a Web browser is to allow you to quickly and efficiently search the Internet for the content and information you are looking for. Apple runs a list of featured extensions in its Safari Extensions Gallery, and you can manage your installed extensions in the extensions pane of Safari preferences.

Is Safari perfect? No. Though it can hide most aspects of the interface to save space, it also does away with a little widget on the upper right corner of the title bar, which, on Firefox, is a handy way to hide and show the interface elements instantly. Safari doesn't remember visited links nearly as long as I would like. The browser has a handy top sites feature that keeps tabs on the sites you have visited most recently and displays them in a graphically attractive page of thumbnails, but how it chooses which sites to display on this page is a mystery to me; some of the sites that I visit frequently don't appear here, while others which I haven't visited in days still show up.

Article Source: http://goo.gl/1Luqe

CSS Only for the Safari Browser

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) control the appearance of a Web page by using rules that dictate how page elements, such as font size and typeface, display. In addition to using CSS on your own site, you also have the option to assign a style sheet to just the Safari browser. This way, if a website that you view in Safari does not already have CSS, your style rules take over and format the content as you specify. Use the tools in Safari to apply CSS to just this browser.

Instructions

Launch your Safari browser and click the "Preferences" title under the "Edit" (Windows) or "Safari" (Mac) menu.

Click the "Advanced" tab at the top of the window that opens and then click the "Style Sheet" drop-down menu. Select the "Other" option and follow the prompts in the dialog window that appears to choose the CSS file from your computer.

Restart your browser. Your CSS style rules are now applied to the websites that you load in Safari.

Read more: http://goo.gl/BhNpy

Ways to Search With Safari

The main function of a Web browser is to allow you to quickly and efficiently search the Internet for the content and information you are looking for. It was not until recently that Mac released a new version for Windows users. However, the windows version has its shortcomings, especially in regards to speed. The "Top Sites" feature of Safari is one of the culprits of these speed issues. Whenever you open a new tab, Safari conveniently gives you a list of the Top Sites you usually view. Unfortunately, this eats up a lot of time on Windows. This article explains how to take out this feature to speed up Safari on Windows.

Instructions

Open Safari. Go to "Start," then "Programs," and click "Safari."

Click "Edit," then "Preferences" to open Safari's Preferences window.

Click the "General" tab. Click the list box next to "New Windows Open With:" and set it to "Empty Page". Do the same for "New Tabs Open WIth:".

Close the Preferences window. Whenever you open new tabs or windows now, you will see an empty page instead of your "Top Sites".

Read more: http://goo.gl/fj1al

How to Delete Memory Cache on Safari ?

Whenever you visit a Web site, Safari automatically saves the contents of the Web page into its memory cache. This is done so that the page loads quickly the next time you want to view it. Over time, Safari can accumulate thousands of cache files for various Web pages that you've visited. This can often slow down the speed at which Safari can run. In order to improve the speed and performance of the Safari Web browser, many Macintosh users will choose to delete Safari's memory cache. This should be done on a regular basis in order to ensure that Safari is working at optimal speed. Besides clearing the memory cache, Safari users can also improve their performance by deleting the Google search entries that have been saved.

Instructions

Delete Safari's Memory Cache

Open up the Safari Web browser.

Click on the heading 'Safari' and choose 'Empty Cache' from the pull down menu. Mainly for its simplicity and high speed, Chrome appears the right choice.

    Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer, ever since it was introduced has enjoyed massive popularity and has kept itself updated with launch of new versions. It is still the widely used Browser but competition in the market has led to a decrease in its market share. However its rapport is strong with people still using IE 6 though IE 7 & 8 have long made their entries. Though Microsoft has come up with the latest IE 9 Beta which boasts of support for CSS 3 selectors and improved performance of JavaScript but here we are going to discuss IE 8 as it currently has maximum share.

Ease in Usage: Internet Explorer 8 allows a much better tab experience and facilitates those who open several tabs simultaneously. It is quite easy to use as one can find all the required tools without much effort.
Security: IE 8 comes loaded with useful Security features such as InPrivate Browsing and SmartScreen Filter. While the former helps prevent disclosure of personal browsing sessions, that is, it doesn't save the history if the mode is activated, the latter offers protection against phishing and malware.
Speed: In comparison to its earlier versions, IE 8 takes less time to load web pages and therefore allows faster experience. Supported Configurations: Windows Vista, XP and 7.

Why Internet Explorer? Security features of IE 8 make it favorable.

    Opera

Opera is a function rich web browser and an internet suite that comes with useful in-built tools, however still it occupies a small market share. Its latest version is Opera 11.

Ease in Usage: It is quite easy to use Opera with its extensive Tab functions and ability to customize as per the needs of the users. It offers several features to make searching a friendly experience.
Security: Like Firefox and Internet Explorer, Opera allows Private Browsing and thus helps in securing personal information. It also offers protection against malware, phishing, viruses and pop-ups.
Speed: Opera is fast speed browser but it poses compatibility issues with some websites.
Supported Configurations: Is compatible with Windows (XP and Vista), Linux and Mac OS X.

Why Opera? The high degree of customization that Opera offers makes it appealing as a web browser.

    Safari

Safari is a product of Apple that gained instant recognition especially among the Mac users and contains all the necessary features offered by other browsers in addition to some new ones.

Ease in Usage: For Mac users, Safari offers excellent experience. It may take some time to get used to it for non Mac users but overall it is easy to use Safari as a browser. Security: Safari allows Private Browsing, protects against malware, viruses, phishing and also offers Parental Controls.
Speed: Safari is a fast browser which loads pages faster.
    Supported Configurations: Windows and Mac.

Source: http://goo.gl/mn7Hy

How to Get Great Tech Support in Four Easy Steps

1) Rely on Yourself First

You might be surprised what you can solve quickly by taking advantage of the "self-help" resources most technical related companies offer. Check for flash (video) tutorials, a searchable knowledge base, or a customer forum. Very often the most common questions can be answered in just minutes if you look at those places first. It will save you time if you start there. Or try a quick Google search.

2) Use Proper Avenues

Always use the proper method to request support. If support has a help desk use it. You'll generally get a quicker response than if you try to skip the support staff and go direct to the CEO of the company. The CEO will usually pass your request back to the help desk staff anyway. Escalate a problem only if it becomes necessary.

3) Details, Details, Details

The more detail you can provide about the problem you're facing, the better. It will take longer for tech support to help you if they have to reply with basic questions and await your response, then you have to wait for another response from them.

Here are some details you may want to include for some common internet problems.

For a hosting related problem:

- Your domain name
- Your username
- What server you are on
- What problem you are having and what you did right before it happened
- What time it happened
- What internet browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc)
- What operating system you are using (Windows XP, Vista, Mac OS X, Linux, etc)

For an email related problem:

- Your email address
- What email program you are using (webmail, or a program on your computer)
- The exact error message or problem in as much detail as possible
- When the problem began
- Any recent changes (for example, upgrade to your computer software or a new internet service provider)

For a shopping cart related problem:

- As detailed a description of the problem as possible
- If a particular category, product, or page, include a link to that page
- If a particular order had the problem, include the order number
- Try to recreate the problem and include the steps to recreate it
- Anything else that might be related to the issue

For a problem downloading a product you've purchased:

- What steps you took to try to download it
- What happened when you tried
- What operating system and browser you are using

4) Remember Your Manners

Be polite. The majority of the time whatever problem you are having is not the direct fault of the person you're speaking to. Consider that it might be user error. No matter who ends up being at fault (you, them, a computer somewhere, a mysterious internet gremlin) you'll normally get a faster and more helpful response if you don't begin by making the person who is ready to help you defensive by being rude, swearing at them or "YELLING" in caps. They are on your side and want to help you. Be patient, allow them time to solve your problem, and treat them with respect.
Source: http://goo.gl/fGKcV

How to Send Free Text Messages On Your Iphone Using the Safari Browser

If you are like me, then you text message on a daily basis and you consider it more of a necessity rather than just an option on your Iphone. I don't know what it is, but text messaging or texting is really, really addicting and easier than making a phone call.

The only problem with text messaging is it can get very expensive, very fast and before you know it, you are over your wireless plan's limit. At the beginning of the month or billing cycle for your iphone, you say to yourself, "no way am I going to text over 200 times this month", but low and behold, a month down the road you get your bill and you have used 350 text messages. That is 150 over the 200 text messages you get with the Iphone's AT&T standard plan, that is 150 extra text messages at 10 cents a piece which makes your bill $15 dollars or more than it has to be.

That can really make a dent in your wallet if you don't get your text messaging under control or find an alternative, and if you are an avid text messenger like I am, you know that once you get in the habit of use text messages instead of making phone calls, you do it more and more often. Actually, text messaging has become so popular that vocal conversations over cell phones have become a distant memory or the second option to send text messages.

As the avid text messenger and penny pincher that I am, I was destine to find a way around paying for going over my text messages and I didn't want to alter my wireless plan and pay more money, so I did some research and found this website

Source: http://goo.gl/qJgEY

Windows 7 - Prevent the System from Automatically Restarting

Making an improvement over Windows XP, Window 7 allows a user to get rid of system restarts.

A reflection on Windows 7 features will tell us that if the operating system Windows 7 fails due to driver error and your system restarts, you can follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Just click the "Start" button after selecting "Control Panel". After that, click "System and Security", and then "System". In the left pane, select "Advanced system settings". If the User Account Control dialog box appears, click "Yes". The "System Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box appears. Click the "Advanced" tab. Underneath "Startup and Recovery", click the "Settings" button. After that in Windows 7 the "Startup and Recovery" dialog box appears. Underneath "System failure", uncheck "Automatically restart". Click "OK" on the dialog boxes to close them.

Meanwhile, in Windows 7, you can also set Process Priorities to boost your system. You will have to determine which processes should get the most attention in your Windows 7 system.

If your main program or process running too slow on your Windows 7 version, you can raise the priority of it.

You can open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc together on keyboard. The multi-tabbed "Windows Task Manager" should appear. Make sure the "Applications" tab is selected. If the process you need to change is linked to an application, right-click it and choose "Go to Process" from the pop-up menu that appears.

Otherwise, click the "Processes tab" to find a process you need to change. Right-click a process and select "Set Priority". If you cannot find the process that needs its priority changed, click the "Show processes from all users" button. You may have to confirm your action via User Account Control.

From here you can select from the following possible priorities (highest to lowest): Realtime, High, Above Normal, Below Normal, Normal, and Low.

If you are sure you want to change the process priority, click the "Change priority" button when prompted.

You cannot change priorities permanently, next time you reboot your computer default priority will be there. Save all open files before trying this trick.

Windows 7 in action: A Smarter Way to Manage Windows

In recent months, I have broken hundreds of images of the interface of Windows 7, for use in galleries here at ZDNet (like this and this), and Windows 7 Inside Out. However, static images do not do justice to some of the nuances of reality, using a function. So when the video production ZDNet crack team offered to help produce some screencasts, I seized the opportunity.

No doubt you've heard of Aero and Aero Snap Shake. Here is a chance to see these features in action.

I even remember the first time I saw this feature demonstrated for me. I was immediately impressed with the idea of mouse gestures could make it easier window management. This is especially important these days in 20 - and 24-inch monitors are very common.

In fact, after using Windows 7 for almost a full year, I must confess that I am spoiled by this feature, more than any other. When using a computer with another operating system, Windows Vista, XP or OS X, I really miss the ability to maximize and minimize a window with a mouse movement or break a window in the lateral position of the screen.

This is the first of four Windows 7 demos I've done in this series. Look for the next next week at this time.

I even remember the first time I saw this feature demonstrated for me.
