Elmira Sarkisian belly dance journey

She was born July 24, 1988 in Armenia, in Yerevan . In the circumstances prevailing in Armenia, my family had to leave the country. From 6 years old , I live in Ukraine . Now, I really like the Ukraine as well as Armenia

I've tried many things in life . I studied to be an artist , a good painter, engaged in tennis, gymnastics ... But over time I realized what I wanted to do in life .

There was a TV series " Clone" . I fell in love with oriental culture
October 1, 2007 , I went to learn belly dancing . My teacher Alona Bezrukova , saw in me a huge talent , and immediately transferred me to the very strong group ... She tried to teach me everything she knows ... Onya always believes in me ... And now 9 years I'm in the world of belly dance.

My favorite belly dancer is Dina as I feel she dance with her heart and soul,
I have attended many festivals and got plenty of awards but what's close to my heart the one I took in Ahlan wa Sahlan Festival in Egypt the main land of belly dance, I took second place in Saidi style.
I like very much the culture of Egypt and songs ...
Why I chose belly dancing ?
Because then I can be free and just feel the music ... especially love tarab dance ... So many feelings and emotions . When I dance tarab , I can cry. So it was on festevale Ahlan Wa Sahlan 2015 .... orchestra played so beautifully , and the singer - he sang the song beautifully Abdel Halim Gabbar, I was filled and gives feelings and emotions ....

It is also very lovely all Egyptian folklore ... So many colors, vivid images , such joy in dancing ..
Now I am a teacher of belly dance in Ukraine . I have a school in my city of Chernivtsi . love to teach children I have a lot of very good and talented students. But the most powerful at the moment Katerina Pantelei . She is very talented and hard-working ! She is a true professional

Arabic song translated English

The sweetness of spirit "Halawet Rouh"

Shaabi singer Hakim from the film Halawet Rouh, artist Haifa Wahbi

Ohh oh oh ohhh oh…

OH………
Oh you who adore beauty, beauty is sweetness of the soul
There are those who are very beautiful, but barely alive
And what good is beauty if you live with it in pain and agony
Beware of beauty
Don’t let it make you arrogant or deceive you
Because if it does, it will make your nights a living hell
No matter what, beauty will fade away tomorrow
No matter what, beauty will fade away tomorrow
The physical passion doesn’t last
What lasts is the beauty of the soul

What really bothers and pain me
Is that I gave them everything and they got rid of me
They got rid of me
They got rid of me
They got rid of me

Tomorrow time will tell,
Who’s ruthless and who’s loving.
And then you’ll know the true of me
When time tells
When time tells
When time tells

I’m swimming and the waves are high
The waves are high for me
It throws me up and bangs me down
And everyone is against me
And everyone is against me
And everyone is against me

I, who lived for them,
And was always caring for them
They forgot even my name
I won’t care for them anymore

I, who will tomorrow be,
I, who will tomorrow be,
I, who will tomorrow be,

There are those who find grace lying on the ground
And they’d kick it.
And other kind of people would gather grace from the ground
And kiss it.

And those who’s disgrace helpless women
And those who’s disgrace helpless women
In this world he’d be disgraced
This world has insulted lots of good people

Baba o Baba o Baba
Baba o Baba o Baba
Baba o Baba o Baba

No No… No No No
No No No No

Hey Abdelsalam…

This is not….. beauty
This is not..
No, this is,, beauty

Prince Prince Replay it Again, Again, Again
Again, Again.
Baba o Baba o Baba
Baba o Baba o Baba
Baba o Baba o Baba

Bad reputation for belly dance in the Arab world part 2

2016-01-07T16:40:00.000-08:00

To complete what I started about the bad reputation of belly dance in Egypt and most of Arabian countries,
First part belly dance bad reputation in arabian countries

I know there's a religious part but still there are many still see it bad also they are not so religious, anyway if we put this religion part aside for now,
And look at non educated women and an easy job with good money "belly dance" but what if she don't know how to dance no problem, she will start to work with the sexual motivate moves and tight costumes or revealing more of her body to seduce the audience

whom are mostly men and that gives more bad reputation,Then the Egyptian movies come to complete the circuit by presenting belly dancer drinking taking drugs and talk like a "whore"this movies broadcast on cinemas and tv's which gives a large scale of that bad image

Now let's come to the religious part,
Is it forbidden for a woman belly dancer to dance among women only party ? Answer is no
Is it forbidden for a woman to dance to her husband? Answer is no
Why can't she learn it in a women only belly dance school and why there are no such schools also this type will not be forbidden by religion
What I point to here that it's not a religious main fact as it's a bad image more,
There are schools for cooking, mekeup, singing, music, sewing, different sports, driving, painting, whatever
And still women are taught how to do any of them.
Do you still see the religious is the main fact?
My point of view
The place where the show is presented
Good educated dancer,well trained
Movies to represent the dancer in a good image as an educated dancer studied different dance style to preform an art
Some type of academy or a committee to accept dancers,Specially belly dancers to approve for work
"may talk about principles that will give it a professional image of art"
Then the religious will accept it at least with some rules.
Thanks.

Amie belly dance journey

2016-01-07T05:30:00.002-08:00

Amie Sultan is an Egyptian belly dancer

she started dancing in young age as a ballerina she studied jazz, flamenco, tap dance.
She graduated from a British university called Rhodec international as an interior designer and completed her carrier as a ballerina

Of course she used to watch belly dancers in Egypt from the golden era as Tahia Karioka,Samia Gamal and Naema Akef

The passion of belly dance got her to start as she already was a ballerina and she studied many styles of dancing it was easy for her,Now she has her own middle eastern Egyptian style.

Amie's own words on BBC interview she said that she is sorry that there are no belly dance schools in Egypt and most of festival attendence are foreigners
She hopes that people in Egypt can see it as an art one day that's why she picks carefully the place where she work.
"Wishing you more success"

Belly dance bad reputation in Arabian culture

2016-01-06T10:51:00.002-08:00

The idea about belly dance in most of Arabian countries is bad and not an art meanwhile the ballet show considered an art and dancers are artists.

As I am Egyptian so I will talk from the Egyptian point of view .
The problem mainly is the place where belly dance is preformed in, it's stuck in Egyptian minds that belly dance is shown in cabaret and nightclubs where alcohol drinks are served and in Egypt when you are going to a nightclub or a cabaret ,you are going there to get drunk and as you are drunk, it will not matter to you if you are watching a belly dancer her performance, more than her body and how sexy she was,as a stripper in foreign countries,
Now check this out ask an Egyptian about ballet and ballet dancer they will reply that is art , Why?
It is still a dance show , but where the show is shown, in famous theatres also sometimes ballet dancers may wear more revealing or sexy costume than belly dancers. But the main idea is the place where the show take place

Ex. Ask an Egyptian about Farida Fahmy and the reda troupe, nearly all answers will be the same that's an art from our culture then you ask about belly dance you will get a bad response, Farida Fahmy and Reda family got that idea about the place and created and made their shows on main theater or their theater, that's why they are away from the bad reputation of belly dance in Egypt.
This was the main point where belly dance got it's bad reputation in Egypt and most Arabian countries,of course there are still other reasons that we will talk about it later in our blog.
Please if you agree or disagree please tell us in a comment maybe we can get more ideas.Belly dance bad reputation in Arabian culture part 2

#Blast from the past

2015-12-18T06:09:00.000-08:00

A dialogue between a novelist and a dancer
The novelist is Ehsan Abdulquddus and Farida Fahmy

What could be going on a dialogue between the writer and dancer ..?

And how to be a modern form between them ..?

Art that combines them .. also share the expressed .. each one in his own way and style .. .. During this dialogue Ehsan Abdul Quddus spoke about the dance .. and unique Fahmy discussed the literature and story .. this is interesting to you from the archives of the press in 1968 dialogue ..

Ehsan: I have a question for you .. is a problem and not a question .. I always felt that the Egyptian dance strength reflects the technical sense of a national but an oppressed and wronged, which indicates that the dance was born with us and that nature in us that young daughters dancing and are moving .. but when they grow up they stop to dance Therefore must be our folk dancing .. With the development of years event something unfortunate is that our daughters and our youth only to find western dancing swaying to the melodies and the steps .. did not find a culture dance bring them together .. and my question for dance our youth rally and the lack of our society to eastern dance was why it did not encourage belly dancing .. I want to know from you, for example .. How you learned to dance and when was the first directing you in this art and how you managed to dance in front of the public and not in front of the mirrors just so transformed from a small dance in the mirror .. to dance to Egypt.

Farida: I started and I'm a little dance at home I was sitting with my grandmother and gathered the family children .. someone drumming and I dance .. When my father was studying in the Faculty of Engineering, we were staying in the same college and you dance between students .. In the school entered the ballet and then I got to know Mahmoud and Ali Reda in the Heloledo club and we were dancing Espanioly Klaket .. and then Mahmoud began to hate exotic dances away from our culture so he traveled and looking for authentic folk dances from the headquarte of our country ..

Ehsan: Is Baladi dance bad in your opinion!

Farida: never .. never .. but its presence in cabarets and its association with colonization make it appear begging and is not art! ..

Ehsan: Is it possible to evolve to the point that the girl is in the household of our society or the center of her friends and dancing .. for example when I was a small kid I watch women dance in zar concerts and watching ladies dance, but in the women only society so belly dance became defect to me because it is far from the men!

Farida: evolution in my opinion .. possible but necessary for the evolution of history!

Ehsan: I looked long and I did not find a dance history for eastern dance so I wrote it .. or predict a history and I said that the days of the Pharaohs was based on moving the legs and hands and not on the belly shake, waist .. Until the reign of the sultans and the Harem .. Sultan this man who owns sixty women .. Locked in the harem women and graduated from the prison to dance in front of him .. the only expression is dance .. the only freedom isdance .. and I imagined that these harem go out and speak and complain about all of them

With the dance before the Sultan .. The history of dance suit where found in Cleopatra clothes and the first I saw you once where very happy because I found that your movements do not have a pain, free nor shame and expressive.

Farida: I represent what Mahmoud instruct movements he wraparound the country and see the dances of the original headquartered and then puts it very simple decorations .

Ehsan: I have a hope that Mahmoud can create Egyptian dance with young men and women dance collective express happiness and our lives,Birthdays and culture..

Farida: this dance can not authored .. must come with time .. and in need of tune that wraps everyone and make them do the same movements and swaying to the same rhythm tone .. actually shaking ..

Ehsan: dance farmyard exist .. dance Alasaih "cane" that holds the Egyptian character does not exist in any country in the world except our country .. but the drawback is the one who has become a constraint for the sake of group dancing I want you and Mahmoud and Ali do this dance that already exist but have to be taken and shake off the dust and give them life again.

Farida: I believe in that perception Applied create like this dance, for example, in Mansoura .. country traditions drawback and other .. originated folklore band and by the people's that dancing girls and Astrkn where as well as in the lake .. and slowly Senguena our society entity and the history of folk dance and its importance.

Ahsan: I always admire the dances in which the Egyptian Mahmoud retains the character, such as licorice, horses, born and Nubia .. as well as the dances that expressed national figure .. such as the Sudanese bathroom dance.

Unique: Mahmoud designer works dances each Arab country and actually began the tour to collect these dances .. and registers the common folk melodies there.

Ahsan: I hope to dance enters every home .. so that the daughters of families to provide a unique dance Trqsa .. I think that the only way to design Mahmoud dance group of girls .. and be easy melody and the steps .. and by the way do you danced days and felt remorse?

Unique: I regretted we danced on the death of my sister Ndidh .. because I dance as the machine .. The dance, which I am ashamed when I remember .. it when I dance Spainoly .. I felt it strange me .. and when he looked Mahmoud draws us steps folk dances I felt right Bugeany .. and where it was real.

Enjoy a sad Romantic song by
Wael kfoury English translation

Song is ala fekra " by the way "

By the way, you've changed, and your heart has left me for a long time.

Deep inside you, you've changed, and it will be difficult that you you're back.

I look at your eyes to regain the hope your eyes.

Even if you're talking about, I can no longer recognize your words.

Where is this tenderness that you once had !? My hands can not find them if they touch your.

I change too, just like you.

The Little grief has made me come to a decision.

Had I been a good person, I would have left you long ago and can burn your own.

I look at your eyes to regain the hope your eyes.

Even if you're talking about, I can no longer recognize your words.

Where is this tenderness that you once had !? My hands can not find them if they touch your.
