During the weekend I made a quick stop to Goodwill. Didn't found much and noticed that everything was overpriced. But at my final aisle I spotted this little pink fence. Probably a Spring decor, have no idea, but totally visioned the potentials:

It started with a plain wooden fence...

I stapled 2 pieces of jute twine..

and ta dah!! Instant product display!!

There is even space to place my business cards!! A cute little display for only $2! And it is also handy to have vertical displays at craft shows :)

Hello to Veronica and her followers. I'm Bliss and I would like to thank Ms. Lane (everyone is their blog name to me) for inviting me to guest post here at LifeInTheThriftyLane. It is an honor!

Have you all read Veronica's first post in the blogging world? She lived in Italy. ITALY! I picture fresco's on the walls and pottery bowls overflowing with pasta on a long rough rustic wood dining room table. In that vision I'm probably the older round mama with the apron on and Veronica is Giada De Laurentiis, although I would much rather be Giada.

Grapes & Vines

For my guest post I decided to see what Italian influences I might have in my home. I'm mostly Irish and it's well known the Irish are not famous for their cooking or their decorating. My home is not Tuscan or French either, but at one point I had a fondness for vines and grapes so lets see what touches I can find.......

Tuscany. Wine. Do you think Veronica

had any good wine while living in Italy? (Do tell us!) I love the French look. I love the look of Tuscany. I love the farmhouse look. I love the look with that hard industrial edge. You see where I am going here? I love it all and I think over the years liking it all made me afraid to experiment. I don't feel like I know how to blend what I like, what I have, and make it flow and work together. Eclectic? Isn't that a mishmosh of it all? Then that is what I have mishmosh. The Mishmosh Style, or lets call it the BlissMosh Style. If wine makes you think of Italy, then looking above my fridge might work. And Lord knows I have enough wine glasses of varying shapes to serve with each bottle. My husband is German. More beer goes down the hatch here than wine.

Tuscany Heart?

Grapes. I found grapes and vines in my Mishmosh too. You can see them
here in my wallpaper and etched glass cabinet door. But my wallpaper
isn't Tuscan, it's just Autumn.

I recently took down a window valance made from grape vine that was held together by dust. I don't miss it, but that's probably because I see it every time I come in the house hanging from the place I tossed it outside. I'll move it in the Spring.

WTH?

I have this wood applique in the family room, (that is coming down soon I
might add) just stuck in the middle of the trim. I have no idea why! It certainly doesn't make me think Tuscany or wine, just makes me shake my head and hope it's nailed on not glued.

Pottery.... boy do I have pottery. It's American Teenager though, not Italian. I have shelves of it and that's after sending some of it off with the married daughter. I have a big plastic pot in my bathroom that has a partly dieing plant in it. My bathroom is nothing close to Tuscany.

Then there are my two random French influences thrown in....

Yes that is the school lunch menu taped to the French picture. I don't like the picture, I think I bought it 5 years ago for the frame. Time to turn that whole wall into something with a chalk board. It's on the list.

Crusty breads, and spaghetti, Mama Mia! Veronica surly has had her share of some fine Italian cooking. But I will tell 'ya.... I may never taste Giada's sketti or her other amazing Italian specialties, but I can make pasta with the best of them!

Horse Valentines Box

Happy Monday Everyone!

Here is what I made (with the help of my daughter) yesterday:

Today she had to bring a Valentines Box at school for tomorrow's party and she asked for a "horse" shaped one this year! Got the inspiration {HERE}.

We used a shoe box for the body and Barilla pasta box for the neck and head and white yarn for the mane and tail.

She wanted it PINK so I got a roll of pick wrapping paper from the Dollar Store.

For the legs we used toilet paper rolls and painted them with acrylic paint.

We used A LOT of tape!!!

She wrote her name and did the eyes and the nostrils. We had fun making it, now I hope it doesn't fall apart before tomorrow!!!!

On Tuesday and Wednesday Nicole was out of school because she had a "pinkeye" so we did some crafting together and created her Valentines for her classmates. We were inspired by this projects {HERE} and {HERE}

I got a few bags of heart shaped mazes at Walmart for I think $0.99 per bag.

We didn't printed our because our printer was not working well .

We already had the cardstock and the rick-rack ribbons and to attach the hearts we used hot glue.

In the back Nicole wrote the name of her friends and hers.

A very easy project and really really cheap!

Valentine's Day Containers

For the past month I have been saving some bread crumbs containers to up-cycle them for Valentine's Day.

Here are my 2 containers (Crystal Light or Pringles will work great too)

Using double sided tape i covered the containers with V-Day paper

Cut out 2 circles to cover the center of the lids and made 2 heart tags using scrap paper

You can fill them with cookies

or toys for the kids!

A great way to use things we already have at home without spending much $$!

They can also be a great idea as favors for birthdays, just change the paper color to match the theme of the party :)
