Christmas Gifts

Christmas gifts are always expected by our kids on Christmas day and it is so unfair that Santa Claus always get the credits, when we the parents are the one doing all the works. This year my youngest turned 11 years old and he don't believe in Santa Claus anymore. Thanks to his older brothers who told him that it was really us not Mr. Claus is doing all the works, but I also explain to him that Santa Claus is real, that he was actually St. Nicholas and told them the story about him why he became Santa Claus. That we remember him because of him giving away his wealth to help people that is in need, that is how he shows his love for Jesus which is the true meaning of Christmas
By the way my point is, we have to show our kids that Christmas day is not all about receiving but also about giving and remembering the birth of Jesus Christ who is the real reason why there is Christmas day. I grew up knowing that it was Jesus birthday not the day of getting gifts. It is nice to see our kids faces when they open their gifts but they also have to learn that it is not all about gifts.

Halloween is coming and as excited as I am to buy costumes, my kids don't want to wear costumes anymore, they are growing up so fast!! I have to convinced them that there is no age in having fun, that it is okey to be childlike sometimes.
By the way in my country ( Philippines ) we celebrates halloween totally different from here. Since it is also "All Souls Day " we usually and make sure to clean, offer flowers and visit our love ones in the cemetery. We stay the whole night to eat and pray for them. I just hope that my children experience this too.

Halo-halo is a favorite Filipino dessert usually popular during summer. A famous Filipino ice treat with different mixtures of the following :

Kaong ( sweet palm )

Macapuno ( coconut meat )

Ube ( purple yam )

Jack fruit

Sweetened red beans

Sweet plantains

Sweetened white beans

Sweet corn leche flan

Evaporated milk

and ice cream ( ube or vanilla ice cream )

Put 1/2 spoonful of each ingredients in a cup except ice cream, milk and leche flan, then put crushed ice until the cup is full and then put a scoop of ice cream and a slice of leche flan on the top, then pour milk on it, slowly mix all in the cup and when its fully mixed you can start eating!!

Facebook, twitter, myspace are some of social media that we usually consumed to much of our time nowadays, is it good or bad? In a positive way social media like facebook and twitter let us reconnect to our old friends and families even though they are a million miles away from us and it's free! No need to buy calling cards and come to think a long distance call that cost a lot just to say hello to our love ones, now we can talk to them through video chatting without spending a single dime! We also get the breaking news right away on our cellphones, we get updates on what is going on around us, whether it's good or bad news.
In a negative way sometimes we put too much information in it that is not necessary that may cause harm to us or hurt the feeling of others. I know it's a way of letting out how we feel but haven't you notice that sometimes you post something and other people think that the post is intended for them? Which is funny sometimes..We are also so curious about what other people are doing everyday specially the celebrities that we follow thru twitter.
Whatever we do in our own space we must post responsibly and carefully, remember that not all people friends, family, co-worker, acquaintances and neighbors are good people.
