Photos Nigerian Medical Doctor, Allwell Orji Who Jumped Into Lagos Ocean yesterday

In a sad suicidal move, a medical doctor, Allwell Orji, jumped into the Lagos lagoon on Sunday the 19th of March 2017.

The incident happened at 4:45pm on Third Mainland Bridge when 35-year-old was on his way to Victoria Island where he was going to attend a Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) meeting.
Orji, who left from his house at Abule Ijesha in Yaba, was said to have told his driver, Henry Ita, to parked his Nissan Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) marked LND476EE at the Adeniji Adele end of the bridge on the excuse that he wanted to pee.

As he came down, the doctor was said to have climbed the bridge’s rail guide and jumped into the ocean.

Orji is said to be a staff of the Isolo branch of Mt. (Mount) Sinai Hospital.

A commercial bus passenger, who gave his name as Uche Magnus, said the doctor jumped into the ocean immediately after he came down from his vehicle.

Magnus said: “I saw everything clearly from where I sat in the commercial bus I was in. The man came down from his jeep and jumped into the water instantly. We all screamed and begged the commercial bus driver to stop. I saw the man when he jumped but nobody could identify the spot where he drowned in the ocean.”

In the ensuing confusion, Ita was said to have called Oji’s mother and pastor. Both arrived the scene some 30 minutes after. It was learned that the sympathisers at the scene called the Lagos Police emergency unit, which deployed Rapid Response Squad (RRS) riders and marine police to the scene.

When The Nation got to the scene at 5:30pm, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), RRS Area Alpha Commander and Officer-in-Charge of Marine Police Team were coordinating rescue operation. The response team of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) was also at the scene.

At 5:50pm, Oji’s SUV and his driver were moved to the Adeniji Central Police Station.

When asked to explain how the incident happened, Ita, who was yet to come to terms with the incident, said could not utter a word as he was being led into the DPO’s office. He folded his arms and looked at the floor.

Orji’s mother was restless, as she was being consoled by the pastor. The pastor came out of the DPO’s office to pray beside Oji’s SUV. As he said the prayers, he moved round the vehicle with the hope that the rescue operation will bring the deceased back to life.

As at the time of this report, the body of the deceased is still being sought for.

In a shocking tragedy, a pastor in Nnewi has been brutally killed by unknown persons putting the town into a state of morning.

Residents of the industrial town of Nnewi, Anambra state have been thrown into a state of shock following the news of the brutal murder of a Pentecostal pastor, Pastor Ime Etim, the General Overseer of Jesus Covenant Bible Ministries

According to Odogwublog, the incident is said to have happened in the early hours of Friday, 3rd February and the news has since spread round the town like wild bush fire, with many people rushing to behold the lifeless body of the pastor who is an indigene of Akwa Ibom State.

The church of the deceased is located at the back of Fidelity Bank Plc, close to Nwayi-Imo bus stop.

Sources claimed that the pastor, an easy going fellow had gone to his church for a private vigil on Thursday night before he met his untimely death in the hands of his assailants.

The pastor, who is in his forties , it was gathered that was living in Nnewi with his first son who incidentally discovered the lifeless body of his father in a gutter in front of the church while the wife and other children are living in his home town in Akwa-Ibom state.

What has been agitating the minds of the residents of the industrial town is what could be responsible for the brutal assassination of a pastor who has just gone for a prayer.

A respondent, who identified himself as Thomson said he is a member of the deceased’s church and wondered what his beloved pastor could have done wrong to deserve being brutally murdered.

“Look at our church at the second floor, nothing give the impression that there was any form of struggling, his bible, eye glasses and other things on the table appeared to indicate any form of violence.

“His dead body was seen this morning with his hand and leg tied behind him and some that look like a nylon was also used to tie his mouth. I suspect he must have been killed somewhere before he was dumped inside the gutter in front of his church.

“I am sure he did not come to the church in his boxers only, so the question is who removed his cloths and where did they drop the cloths. God will surely punish whoever that is responsible for the brutal murder of an anointed man of God.”
A security operative who will not want his name in print said he worked night duty on Thursday but that there was noise from the building where the church of deceased is located.

The policemen from Central Police Station(CPS) Nnewi led by the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) Mr Ikechukwu Egbochukwu (SP) had an Herculean task dispersing the mammoth crowd that gather to behold the lifeless body of the slain pastor before he was taken to an unknown hospital to be deposited in mortuary.

The people of Akwa Ibom state living in Nnewi were seeing discussing in low tones on how to take the remains of the pastor home.

The 21-year-old teacher who is afraid that he might fall for one of his students asked for advice on how to avoid being tempted into committing a crime.

OMG! 20-Year-Old Student Sacrifices Her Life For Her Brother After Trailer Failed Brake In Lagos. (Photo)

A 20-year-old undergraduate of Yaba College of Technology, Bukola Ajayi, sacrificed her life for her younger brother on Tuesday after the brakes of an overloaded trailer failed at the Ekoro junction, in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State. The trailer driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle, which reportedly sped in the direction of a tricycle Ajayi and her brother boarded.

Ajayi was taking her brother to school around 7am when the incident happened. She reportedly pushed him out of the tricycle and out of harm’s way. She was attempting to save herself when the trailer ran into the tricycle, killing her.
Punch Metro learnt that the incident caused a traffic jam in the area as sympathisers placed the corpse by the roadside.

Policemen from the Oke Odo division, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency were said to have gone to the scene.

Our correspondent observed the trailer being towed away by a crane belonging to the LASEMA Response Unit. The trailer, which tilted sideways, appeared to be loaded with plastics and some tarpaulin-shielded materials.

A witness, who did not want to be identified, said the trailer had first crushed a Tata bus before running into the tricycle.

He said, “The problem we have here is that the road slopes from Abule Egba to Ekoro Road. Around 7.15am, the trailer was coming from Abule Egba; it was supposed to turn towards Ile Epo, en route to Oshodi.

“However, when the vehicle’s brakes failed, the driver lost control and the trailer continued its downward journey. First, the trailer crushed a Tata bus and pushed it into a gutter. At this point, everybody started scurrying to safety. The passengers in the tricycle, where the lady was, also jumped out.

“The lady had sat by the entrance, while the boy sat on her laps. The place where she sat was on the trailer’s path. She quickly pushed her brother to the other side. As she moved to follow him, the trailer crushed her.”

Punch Metro gathered that the suspect attempted to flee the scene, but was nabbed by a mob which assaulted him before handing him over to the police.

A family friend of the victim, who lamented the death, said she had just finished her Ordinary National Diploma and just started her Higher National Diploma when tragedy struck.

“She was the first child of a family of six. Her father is distraught at the moment. Her mother is also devastated,” he added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident. She said the driver was in police custody while investigation had started into the crash. “We have deposited the corpse in a morgue for autopsy,” Badmos added.

An Indian teenager has been branded a human snake because she sheds her skin every two months because of an ultra-rare condition. Shalini Yadav, 16, needs to constantly smear her body with moisturizer to stop it from hardening and seizing up.

But her poor family cannot afford the treatment and spend their money feeding their family of eight. The brave teen was thrown out of school because her extraordinary appearance scared her fellow pupils.

Doctors have diagnosed Erythroderma, an inflammatory skin disease also known as ‘red man syndrome’, but are unable to treat it. It causes the skin over almost the entire body to become scaly and flake off.

Shalini has shed her skin every 45 days since she was born. She has to soak her body in water every hour – night and day – and smear herself with lotion every three hours to prevent drying out.

Shalini said:

“I wanted to study but they threw me out of school as the children would get scared by seeing my face. Everybody in the family is suffering because of my medical condition. But what is my fault? What sin did I commit to be cursed with such a disease.”
