So in the movie 'Bucket List' two men are diagnosed with cancer, the film then shows us what they have on their list of things to do before leaving this mortal world, its a great movie, I'd recommend it. I noticed on twitter, people giving their own bucket list, which has prompted me to consider my own bucket list.

Travelling
i'd love to travel more, and see the world, I want my son to be a citrezan of the world who is well travelled, i have a friend who lives in London now, but she has recently returned from India (little jealous of that), so where has made the list

Rome - Italy. the birthplace of the western world, civilisation as we know it came from there, also I love Italy, its relaxed culture, beautiful food and wines
New York - it seem to be a place that is on most people list, its in all the movies and television. also Madison Square Garden, i want to see WWE action in the garden.
India - there is not one part of the country i want to see more than another, all of it
Manilla - Philippians; my wife spent two months there and wants me to go and meet her friends.
Tokyo - Japan, I want to see Godzilla

New Years in Oz, somewhere near the sydney bridge to watch the fireworks.

Sunday 31/7 ...continued again

Standing on Ramanzacco's little train station, over fifty people huddled together to board a train designed for forty and roll onto Cividale. The train was extremely fun; many of the leaders stood in the hallway between the the two carriages; where they had more laughter, much more than those sat deep inside the carriage with the youths, between nearly falling of the train and the crazy stories that arose about the views through the carriage doors, it was like falling down a rabbit hole or perhaps we should call it riding a magical madness train.

We arrived at our destination a rather modern rail station, not really what you expect at a Unesco world heritage site, after checking we had everyone we followed Gianluca into the town (we follow him a lot in these stories).We huddled in the town square while Gianluca used his mini-megaphone to tell us all about the town, we then began a tour of the town, visiting the cathedral, the celts art work, the baby drop off, celtic burial chambers, Julius Cessar statue, the little Longobard Temple and the devil's bridge; all due respect to Gianluca the tour was different and very entertaining. with a about an hour before the next train the group broke up into smaller units to explore the beautiful, so myself and several other leaders went up the slight hill to the town square and sat in the glorious sunshine, I can't remember the name, and I ask like a thousand time, but the next thing i knew was the waiter placing the large wine glasses on the table, the orange drink brighten the face, as the glowing goblets was lifted to the lips. As the liquid ran over my tongue, it was crisp and cleansing, not exactly orange in taste, until afterwards, my taste-buds really enjoyed the taste.
As the group reformed from its shattered scattered parts, the returned to Ramazacco on the magical madness train (MMT), was as eventful if not more than the journey out to the town. When we arrived, we were to eat more, before socialising and sleeping.

The church was full, so many people that people were invited to sit in the chancel in what normally would be the choir stalls, some of the youth and leaders sat there, while the rest of us sat in the front few rows of the church, the service was interesting, similar to the Eucharist in churches here and very close to the Latin mass, which I studied in uni, so I felt a little confident in some of the responses, with my limited Italian, I had a go...
Also for someone who sings and can pick up music, the sung responses in the service were easier to pick up, as you sing syllables sounds, its the same as singing in another language you learn the sounds and the notes, and if you sing in a choir then you follow others a slight half or quarter beat behind the rest. After looking the priest in the eye which was odd, we finished the service, what I really liked was the relaxed atmosphere and the freedom to come and go, there was no expectancy to stay on beyond the service, or be there to start it was fine to be late, leave early no probs; the doors were going all the way through the service with people coming and going, it was refreshing to see that there was no pressure to be there, and the church was packed. [on a side note, i wonder if this attitude was because the camp was there, but the same thing the following week loads of people and very relaxed about going and coming to the service.]
Outside the church, the group walked to the town square, that was all fenced off, as we approached the 'new' town band was playing a selection of musical arrangements, which was different, don't think I've ever been welcomed by a brass band before, it was like being royalty, the band was playing as we arrived...the opening ceremony was a beautiful calamity, Sara tried to organise us into our retrospective countries, with some degree of success, before sorting the balloons out that were tired downs with super knots, because Monica and Linda (two Italian leaders) really struggled to get the balloons of the roof of the water house and give them out to the different countries' youths.
Ramanzacco's town Mayor welcomed everyone to the camp, and stated that the camp will be a great event for people to experience Italian culture and hospitality. The night before Gianluca told us that at a previous camp in Germany he was speaking in German and making the thank you speak but instead of thanking the Mayor or Bürgermeister for the hospitality, he actually thanked the caretaker or Hausmeister by mistake. Which I really wanted him to make that same mistake as he translated the mayor of Ramanzacco, is it really wrong that you want someone to make a mistake like that again? unfortunately he did not make any mistake in his translation, well as far as could tell, I did only get a G grade in my German GSCE... and I'm very proud of that people.

As part of the ceremony, the balloons I mentioned earlier, were to be launched into the air when the countries national anthem was played and sung; so in turn we sang our anthem then launched the balloons, the problem was everyone was distracted by the balloons that the singing wasn't the best.

After all the pomp and circumstance of the opening ceremony, it was time to eat, so on mass almost everyone in the town heads towards the dining hall, which was in the local infant school about ten minute walk from the place we were staying. As we sat down, we were given a plate, pointed in the way of the anti pasta dishes, yum yum, then came the pasta dishes, yum yum, oh the fish course, yum yum, turkey anyone, yum yum, seconds yum yum, room for desert, yum yum, Grappa? yum yum, glass of wine to wash it down with? yum yum ... so now I can't move anywhere, they now tell us we are going to the train station to visit a UNESCO world heritage town call Cividale; and I'm thinking time for a nap.

The bell rings throughout the corridors and class rooms, as I sat upright in an empty room, my heart sank as I realised that I was alone; two others were suppose to share the room with me, but where were they? Upset and concerned, I listened? then quiet at first, a noise rushed up, rising upwards and upwards, till the place erupted with life. Still confused as to the where about of my two room mates, I went investigating, I found one of my room mates emerging from a small office near the main entrance, whilst quizzing him it came to light that my snoring had forced them out and to seek sanctuary in a quieter part of the school.
So breakfast was a typical continental, beautiful meats freshly cut, fruits and cereals, cafe and chocolate...mmm hungry thinking about.
As the clock moved to on, the bell rang again, and the bells of the tall tower rang out across the small town, we toddled of to the local church for a special Holy Mass. The church was a typical roman style with beautiful paintings hanging on the wall, with a dove painted on the ceiling above the alter,in the chancel area...

With sleep in my eye, my mother pulled up outside the door and blow the horn; falling down the stairs to answer the trumpet call, with excitement in my feet.
the car was loaded and we moved off to the assembly point, where the Mayor was waiting to give us a personal send off, as we boarded the small mini bus, eight young people from Blaenau Gwent and three other leaders were about to embark on the 1861km trip to the international youth twinning camp in Ramanzacco, Italy.

We rolled out on the heads of the valley road, with Mark at the helm and Allison plotting the course, we sailed down raglan road heading toward London town, sailing along the long run of the M4.

After several hours and all feeling a little tired we arrived Gatwick airport, were the start of all queues began, I've decided that airports are less exciting Disneyland, at least in Disneyland there are things to look at whilst you queue, with odd exceptions of a hot girl or guy just ahead of you, there is nothing airports need fibreglass rocks, happy music playing from underneath and perhaps a few animatronics would be good too...anyway first queue you join is to check in for your flight. the next queue is check your not smuggling anything onto the ride, like water or perfume or wine or coke...so once they've removed those things from you and anything else they fancy (theiving gits) only to give you the opportunity to buy it back at four times the street price and have the cheek to tell you its exempt of tax as if to say it would be more expensive outside the airport...bastards!

the next queue is for the departures board to tell you were our flight leaves from, which is more of a huddle or scrum rather than a queue, once you know what gate your flight leaves, this is where the rules of queues no not apply until you have reached the gate. You need to walk kind of like the Olympics sport power walking, its a unspoken rule, but you must not run to the gate, perhaps freestyle queue, then you arrive at the gate, and the queue reforms slightly altered because some people walk slowly. then you queue to get on the bus or plane, flight to where ever relax for a while in a chair, listen to music, have an expensive drink? and land in the place you want to be, only to stand in another queue half way round the world to tell them the same thing you told them in the country you just flew from. I hate airport now, with a passion.

So touch down in Venice...as we approach the floating city was off to the right of the plane, it was beautiful, the sun glinting of the sea highlighting each ancient building.

tattoo...

This week has been really busy again, the beggining of the month always is the busy, tidying all those lose ends ready for the month ahead. I hate leaving lose ends, but leave loads unintentionally.
I think many of you know I have been on about getting a tattoo, on Tuesday last week I finally got round to actually having some time I the studio with Chris Long. After 2 hours or so, i have a tattoo. A image of a retro 50's style microphone on my right forearm...and i've had some great feedback on the tat...so a massive thank you to everyone who donated money to the tattoo Jonathan fund at my 30th birthday last year.

177 or 220 it doesn't matter anyway, I did it again, after nearly five years ago, I abseiled down the iconic Newport transport once again this time for Macmillan Cancer Support. and what a difference to the last time, this time the balmy sun beat down on the bridge rather than the drizzle of the past...hanging over the ground about 100ft or so, looking around the specular scenery was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed the drop, even sat here with several blisters on my hands, along with comments on facebook, I'm pretty pleased with myself for doing it and really grateful to the people who sponsored me.
After the drop, we called into the Six Bells party in the pit, a great turn out at the event, live music, loads of children's activity, and information points all in all very good. We got home and decided we go for a walk.
All in all a nice day, did miss the F1 race, but had the results txt to me...

Overdue Arrival

been along time, but I'm back after having a period where i wasn't able to write this...
so quick catch up, i have a baby due any minute, so i am on "DROP WATCH" 24hrs a day, i have a mixture of feelings about becoming a father; fear that I'm not going to be any good, anguish i'm able to provide for my baby, happiness that i have someone to call me dad; so many feelings...
i've changed jobs, so now work for FCT on their MountainFM project in Ebbw Vale, so you can listen to me everyday on the interent stream 1-4pm prior to the station going on DAB on July 4...cant wait!
so from here on, i promise i will keep you updated...

What a busy Monday...
Up late watching WWE's Survivor Series, a little annoyed by the outcomes, but can see the start of the story lines leading into the rumble and on to mania... a few hours sleep later, and I'm up and out the house...

Newbridge, my next port of call for an 11.30am meeting with Jo Kirton-Salmon regarding 'Christmas Voices'; this is going to be an awesome evening, Caerphilly Male Voice, Soprano Cheryl Roberts & Cor Ysgol Ifor Bach on Thursday December 9, in Caerphilly Castle; all proceeds from the evening will be divided between Autism Cymru and The National Autistic Society. I am sorry to say that tickets are sold out for this event. For more information about the event and the people who have organised it visit Holly's Ball.
Oh yes, one other thing, I will be leading the community singing, with the support of the choirs and artists.

Week 14 Reviewed & Week 15 - Commencing 12/04

What an action packed week i've have, Easter weekend we visited Dursleyland (P.S. I want a Dursleyland t'shirt www.cadenceuk.com/shop/tag/Dursleyland)...and had a great and busy weekend. We had lunch at the local award winning pub, the 'Old Spot', with my wife's school friends...its amazing how we are all growing up, starting families, emigrating or simply moving, starting new business venues, crazy really when you think about it all.
We all enjoyed an spanish tapas party to celebrate one of my wife's friend who celebrated her birthday in the week, and rubbed shoulders with former Hollyoaks and IT Crowd star Richard Cambridge...look at me, hobdobbing with the stars.
Then some more serious stuff, and then onto the my weekly radio shows, this week i covered Thursday and Friday, and on Friday i was joined in the studio by the 'Pirate of Porthcawl' Rhys Grey, who is going to be joining Mountain FM on Monday afternoon's.

Happy Easter...

Hi everyone, well its Easter weekend, and I'm sat in bed still at 10.35...gosh I'm so lazy today, and I have no intentions of getting up till twelve, sure my wife will say something to that, but she's out shopping with her friend Dr. Lauren...so I'm listening to the best T&D station in the UK, exclusively online at Mountainfm.co.uk... This afternoon will be heading down to the local pub to watch the boat race, as an Oxford graduate i will be rooting for my university hoping the dark blue is gonna come out on top and take the win.
And then its Easter Sunday...F1 early to start the day, Webber to win? we will have to wait and see, while watching the race, you can all enjoy the nice chocolate eggs you have been given cause it's Easter...but remember the hollow egg is a reminder that tomb was empty, and that Jesus had risen from the dead... For dinner, we will be enjoying a three bird roast, as advertised by Aldi, however all is not as it seems, the roast is actually a two bird an pork roast, surely there's some rule against the fact they call it a three bird roast when there is only two birds...
Bank Holiday...everyone who has the bank holiday off, well congrats, i will be working mine...but traditionally, it the singing festival in Ebbw Vale, Children in the morning, adults in the afternoon and evening, its kinda of a tradition in my family, someone someway is involved either singing in a choir, or as a soloist or duet, or even as a preacher.

13 - week commencing 29/03

Hi everyone, OK, so I am a day late writing my weekly update, that's because I've been so busy...Last week was so hectic, and the clock changed so i seem to be a little confused now...and my mom keeps telling what the old time was was as well, for example, yesterday we when to Merthyr shopping, i said pick us up about 12.00, to which she replied 'that was 11 o'clock then...' thanks mum, lol!
Last week was kind of manic, as it was 'mania' weekend, now i could be cruel and give the winners and losers, but I'm sure that Russ and others will be extremely unhappy with me if i did that, so I'll just say, that in the predictions list i published on here last week, i got something right and somethings wrong...in the week, i also had my first fan mail to radio station, a thank you card from Barnardo's for helping with there charity concert evening in Christ Church, Ebbw Vale it was a fantastic evening, where we raised over 500GBP; Thank You All, if you would like to donate, I've set up a just giving page for you to still give to the charity... http://www.justgiving.com/jtdm-Barnardo

UFC 111 Predictions

Hi guys, as promised this is my prediction for UFC 111...it been along since i sat and watched any UFC programming since it was moved to ESPN here in the UK, and I begrudge paying for it...So I've focused on three matches for this prediction sheet today!

Welterweight Championship

Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
Hardy is the man of the moment, he has everything going for him, undefeated in the UFC, has great fundamentals, but going up against possible the greatest modern mixed martial artists of the 21st century, Georges St. Pierre.
Hardy has a great standing game, but GSP has the better matt skills, so its a tough one to call...but i must predict a winner...

Winner: Dan Hardy (and become the first Brit to take a UFC championship)

Interim Heavyweight Championship
Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin
Mir is the quicker fighter and should make easy work of Carwin, but never say never Carwin is the bookies favourite, and with good reason, maybe he was pushed into the frontline past some other deserving fighters for this match, but I, like others, can see a Lesnar Carwin match being a big push for UFC in the coming months.

Winner: Carwir

Welterweight bout:

Jon Fitch vs. Ben Saunders
Last-minute replacement for Thiago Alves, Saunders steps up to face Fitch, for Saunders this is a high-risk/high-yield proposition, a win here will catapult Saunders to the top of the heap in an uber-competitive division. But Fitch is as solid as a rock, and since wrestling is his thing I can see this going to the mat and Finch coming up with the submission...

Winner: Finch

Wrestlemania Predictions

Hi all, ok the Main Event, the grandest stage of them all 'Wrestlemania' is only two days away, so like i promised on my radio show yesterday morning, the 'Voice of Welsh Wrestling' has had his say and picked the winners of the matches ready for Sunday night/Monday morning...of course these are my opinion and now represent anyone elses...

So to begin...

Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk
Singles match; if Punk wins, Mysterio joins the Straight Edge Society
JM: Well Punk's wrestlemania score sheet is 2-1 and mysterio's is just about the same 3-2; Rey has the most experience on the biggest stage, and a World Championship win to his collection, although Punk is a two time money in the bank champion...the creative spirit say WWE could be used more playing the coach to Darren Young on NXT...However, this one has to Go to Punk for the Win

Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Ted DiBiase
Thriple Threat Match
JM: After watching Raw last week, My money would be on Orton...Legacy just couldn't put Orton away on there own, they need the help of the Irish Warrior, so you would guess Orton, however the smart money should go on DiBiase, the shadow of his father is over the whole weekend, and i feel we could possibly see DiBiase Senior come down and help him get the win...

Triple H vs. Sheamus
Singles match
JM: behind the scene's these guy have been training together for month, and until the rivalary, I think WWE feels Sheamus as the nxt Cena or hogan, he's a promoters dream and will do anything to promote himself and WWE, so Sheamus for the win.

ShoMiz (The Big Show and The Miz) (c) vs. John Morrison and R-Truth
Tag team match for the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship
JM: R-Truth and Morrison perhaps on paper looked like a good idea, but on camera and ring styles are like mixing oil and water, great on there own, but shouldn't be mixed up...Show and Miz surprisingly works well together...so unless the creative team have some amazing plan for Morrison and Truth rather than just throwing them together for this match, i see ShoMiz the winners.

Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon
No Holds Barred match
JM: Really...is there really any doubt what's gonna happen, Bret is the wrestler and Vince the owner, however, Vince is never short of a few idea's, i feel the Hart Dynasty will be playing a part in the match...Bert for the win.

Christian vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Kane vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Jack Swagger vs. Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Matt Hardy vs. Evan Bourne vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston
Money in the Bank ladder match
JM: the way I see it is that this is gonna be 'Mega' and everything is pointing to Drew McIntyre [Michael's brother] to pick up the win, however, Christian has to be in there as well, not only the wealth of experience in these matches, but if they don't give him a 'proper' championship, he's gonna just jump back to TNA. Then again, Kofi has recently been in the title picture, he's been really tested, and has shown he can deliver, so the possiblity of a Kofi win is still possible...the rest are fill for the match, the performance will be immense, not saying that these boys can't wrestle, amaze and wow the crowd, but in the last couple of months, the majority havn't been seen on anything else but superstars...
Winner: Kofi Kingston

Batista (c) vs. John Cena
Singles match for the WWE Championship
JM: you talk about intense well this storyline this is great, the line is amazing the guys in the back need an award for it, its also well acted, not oscar material but well acted, but will the match live up to the hype? i wouldn't think so, big moves and then kick outs the more the merrier...but hey what do i know...

JM: the one we've all been waiting for...I've never really been a fan of Michaels, however he is a great performer, and nothing but the best can be said that on the night of wrestlemania, he is Mr. Wrestlemania, i've always been a Taker fan, ever since he locked Warrior in a casket, he's been one of my favourites, and the night of Wrestlemania, Taker is the Man, 17-0 is impressive win loss record, particular at wrestlemania, but its been 18 years for Taker in WWE, and someone has to beat him and Michaels did retired Flair in 2008, much to the disappoint of population of Flair Country, so Michales has defied the gods once, can he upset the barrel one more time?

Singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship
JM: If ever there was a World Championship match I really didn't expect to see at Mania, this is it...it just seems wrong, i have no doubt that end product will be awesome, but i don't think the hype has been as big for this as Cena/Batista or 'Taker/Michaels...its not even on the poster...So off the pop that Edge got at the Rumble, to the match, its all seems to be on a downward spiral since it started, well from where i'm sitting, even the promo to set the match up was kinda lame...not the best work, probably B+ keep trying...even the marketing seems to have forgotten this match, even though it was the first one named...
I bet that this will be the best match of the night, forget everything else on the card, this is the one to watch

Wow, what a busy and hectic last week, two radio shows done, to which everyone seemed to enjoy, a wrestling road trip to Brynaman in the backs of Swansea, intense training and actually getting the point...Also i have a concept for a new television programme thanks to the creative genius of Bolt and Frantic it working title is "Jonathan Treks" - concept is that i get dropped off with no phone, and have to find my way home... Will be discussing it with my agent, possible titles 'Follow the Sound of my Voice'
So here's to a new week, which is equally as busy...

Thursday, 7pm till 10pm 'Voice of the Vale' is live at Celtic Wrestling's "Celtic Bedlam" in Aberfan Social Club, Aberfan, Merthyr Tydfil.

And finally, the biggest stage of them all, Wrestlemania 26 on Sunday Night/Monday Morning!

Snow...my day off and all around me is snow...so not fair, if had come a day earlier or two days later, i would have been ecstatic , but my whole day was written off thanks to the snow...
Thanks to the people around me the back lane is clear, reasonably well, so that i could get the car out, that meant that i could at least have the car in a descent place ready for the early morning run to newpoprt or just in case i need to go anywhere else...
its not that am against snow, i rather enjoy it, but rather the issues and differculties it poses, traffic jams, accidents. stranded people unable to get home...
so we spend most of the day at home, i caught up on the wrestling i had recorded and laura baked nutty, crunchy things, all ready to give to her friends from university.
In bed early ready for an early start.

Dear All,

Well Christmas has once again come around, and before long we will welcoming the New Year, new opportunities, new ventures, new challenges and I for one, am looking forward to them.

2009 was the start of a new direction for the 'Voice of the Vale' as a ring announcer for South Wales promotion 'Celtic Wrestling'; this lead to working with other companies such as Gloucester based company 'Pro E V Wrestling' and Ireland based company 'Irish Whip Wrestling'.
2010 is already shaping up to a great year for the 'Voice of the Vale', already confirmed are already over twenty ring announcing performances working with established companies such as 'LDN' and 'PPW'. and fledgling companies such as 'Pure Championship Wrestling' and 'WWO:Welsh Wrestling Organisation'.

2009 has been a alcohol free year (except for a German schnapps and beer, which was a cultural exchange), but watch out 2010 will not be alcohol free...

As some of you are aware, throughout the last year i have tried to keep a journal, all the wonderful events, weird and amazing conversations, outrageous road trip. however the project fell a little flat around the middle, so the project will not be published as previously mentioned. However 2010, is a new year, which I aim to document particularly as it will not be alcohol free, and i inend to use the blog to do this...

Thank you all again for your support in 2009 and hope that you will join me again in 2010.
