In conjunction to the Kalimaran fest in 2011, the BORNEO AMATEUR RADIO CLUB (BARC) successfully draw visitors to attend their radio booth. I think, this is the third consecutive year of amateur radio volunteers from the organization come to Tenom just to promote amateur radio as a hobby and educate peoples on how significant radio amateur used when other communications fail.

SWR Test

every antenna, which we intends to buy either new or used, should be measured in accordance with appropriate frequency. failure to comply with the appropriate measurement can cause damages to the radio. in addition, the antenna, that have been long used also need to be serviced for a longer lifespan. among the necessary tools required to measure the antenna is an antenna cutting chart, measuring tape, radio (handheld or mobile), short wave ratio (SWR) meter, metal cutter and griping. so, happy measuring to you too. 73' de 9W6DmZ

Referring to the antenna cutting chart is necessary in order not to make some major mistakes especially when cutting the antenna length

while both of us busy tuning the antenna, we've received this QSL Card posted from chinese Amateur Radio Operator to my friend (9w6Zai). Recently, they have made a HF radio contact thru the 10 meter radio frequency (28Mhz). :-)

this is my trial repeater ongoing for new project course.hehehe...

right now, i'm doing experiment with the advantegious vox activated module from mighty puxing handheld to receive input via yaesu vx-170 stereo audible audio .

the morale for this experiment is learning how to setup the repeater for emergency works such as relay audio from qrp station that unable to reach local repeater.

then i have a better understanding how qrm is it and many more.

someday, i'm willing to learn how the repeater works from other band especially satelite repeater etc...

system requirement:-
yaesu vx-170 - 1 unit
puxing 777 - 1 unit
homebrew voltage regulator 6 watt -1 unit
homebrew voltage regulator 9 watt -1 unit

HERE WE COME!!

Railway track from Tenom to Beaufort.

There is no train service available from pangie sub station to halogilat sub station. The only transport available there is homemade trolley which is dangerous but exciting experiance to use it. And there is no available communication services here. Dont bring handphone here because its useless..

Primarily, Im using my own kenwood TM 271A (moblie rig) and 2 yaesu vx-170 (handy) as a back up. This rig is seriously very rough and suitable for extreme condition like this.At the moment, we still using Sabah Railway Station Department Repeater with a permission as a standby communication while the simplex frequency is under testing for its capability and strength.

Luckly, we have the Hitrachi Excavator to lift the antenna as higher as we can. It almost reaching 50 feet from the ground now. Thanks to the camp worker for their handy help.

We are using the Gazden 8 radial antenna and connected with RG58 coxial cable here at km123 Pangie and 5 element homebrew yagi at halogilat.

Finally, they can communicate...

This is a late publication of my 5 element yagi diagram from the previous hombrew yagi.

Ingredient to cook your sweat:
1. aluminium tube 8mm
2. 1" bolt n nat screw
3. 1/2" squered aluminium for boom
4. Plastic plate 4" x 1 1/2" (to make a box)* this can keep your wirering from
bad weather condition.
5. so-239 female UHF connector
6. 4 pices tiny bolt n nat screw to hold you connector
7. 10pf capacitor
8. heavy duty hardner to make a box. 3 second hardner is might be useful..(awas, jangan terbeli gam gajah...hahhha!!!! alamat lambat lh kering)

yeah.. this is the weakest day on my ham life when my first mobile rig cannot operate normally like others. i cannot receive other call from distance station and make me sick. The exact problem is this mobile rig cannot receive audio on wide mode option but its going good when i change it to narrow mode.

Baru lahir pada tanggal ogos 2008 setelah lulus peperiksaan RAE 2008/1 yang lalu.
tranceiver pertama yang dimiliki ialah yaesu vx-170. tyme tu harganya masih mahal lagi d sini tapi takpa minat punya pasal...beli lh juga...hehehe....
handy yang paling banyak berjasa pada aku..berabis berguna tyme sabah adventure challange 2008. abis mandi ujan tu handy aku kerjakan...tapi keadaannya masi lagi dalam keadaan yang baik..

Antenna pertama yang dimiliki ialah antenna homebrew 1/2 wave cooper dengan bacaan swrnya 1:2 begitu dengan bantuan 9W6LZ tapi sayang antenna tu kena curi tyme menginap d sebuah hotel d Ranau..terpaksa juga lah beli antenna baru jenis Diamond ms-258s. antenna ni kira ok jugalah.

Kemudian baru-baru ni saya dapatkan tranceiver Kenwood TM-271. hati banyak sinang dapat tu barang..apa nda nya..nda berapa lama lepas tu sda kena operate abis tu kenwood...hahhaa...ni lah ni kalau gatal tangan...aihhh... nasib baik masih ok lagi...

projek terbaru ialah 2 meter yagi 5 element...skrg masih dalam pembikinan lh..target maw trigger 9m4rpg n 9m4rbk on QRP..
