What if today was my last day of my life?

Oh, I'd have a long list of people to thank. Actually, I'll have to thank everyone in life. However, that is quite close to impossible because I can't really thank that ~~Abhishek I met last year who taught me to play hard cricket. I can't really thank that~~

It doesn't matter.

I'm quite listless right now. I made so many bad decisions in my past when I could have instead paused and thanked everyone... I am really thankful to every stranger who helped me in life. I may not know you, but I wish the best for you. I remember what you did and it makes me feel happy. I want to return those favours. I want to contribute to the world.

The problem is that I am not making this happen.

I have goals. I have aspirations. I have ideas. I have beliefs. I have ideals. I know my flaws. I know my mistakes. I know my qualities. I know when I do something right as well as wrong. I know flaws of every individual I have ever met. I appreciate their wonderful admirable qualities too. Everyone is special after all. I learn.

I laugh so much, even at the most stupid things. I smile a lot when nobody’s looking. Then, after that beautiful ecstatic moment, I suffer. I don’t really have anyone to go to when I need most. It hurts.

Somehow, this is very hard for me to understand. Life is a journey where you often find yourself walking alone. You have everything you need in life, but you can't really share it. You can try, but most people don't care. Actually, nobody cares. They might show, but frankly speaking nobody wants to smile just to see you smile. Nobody will. Now I’ll have a million people making me believe the opposite, but no, you don’t mean it. Look back and tell me, when was the last time YOU approached me?

It doesn't matter. That’s all I can say. It really doesn't. I don’t value the past but I learn from it. Someday, I will let go everything except what I understood from it. That understanding gives me the light of hope I believe in. That hope tells me, I can go forward, because standing here in stagnation is no use; because I have a life ahead. Yes, I have to live it. Maybe alone, but if that’s the only way, I am ready for it. I may not accept the fact completely, but I have the will to endure. I may not be a courageous person, but I believe in facts. I won’t have anybody to share everything I have with, that’s all.

But then again, it doesn't matter.

Yes, I pause to smile at what I have every once in a while. I feel like sharing my joy with everyone. I want to understand you. I want to help you. I want to be meaningful to you. No, I won’t share any of my sorrows, pains or conflicts ever. When I try to, it’s usually never worth it.

I am very proud of what I have although I don’t know if I really have anything except memories. They stay forever. Past isn't that bad, is it?

Just to keep you interested, I'm boring.

It doesn't really matter to me.

I have a truth to speak: I am a hypocrite and liar. Sorry. I break promises- not intentionally though, but because I am often left with no way out. I may have been truthful at many points of life, but I have struggled with asking myself, is that really the truth? I've been proved wrong many a times. Truth is a relative concept, after all.

Yet again, it doesn't matter.

I love failures. I love going through grim bad difficulties. They tear me apart, they make me cry, make me blame nobody but myself, but they also make me stand up and fight again. They make me laugh at myself and smile for myself. They teach me how to love myself.

I don’t want to give up. Yet, I do it out of a peculiar momentary stupidity. I've found, whenever I have not given up on something, it has gone on to teach me a lot. I don’t guarantee success to myself but I believe in myself that what I do will not harm me. When I have given up early on, it’s all over. Sometimes, you have to give up. Some things are just not possible.

If today’s the last day of my life, hell, I need to make it worth living and worth every moment. I do deserve a little happiness. It’s time I claim it.

Or else, it won’t matter.

There are some days, when I feel like escaping-escaping from this busy boring life into a strange new world, with my best of friends, a long ride, music and loads of fun!

The beauty of the scenery high up in the mountains, with a wide abyss below that makes your heart skip a beat.

The tall trees holding themselves high, higher than the rest of the world.

The feeling of wanting to shout out loud, "I'm on the top of the world!"

The smile on your face that does not wear off, the eyes that do not blink at the wonderful sight, the legs that do not want to take even a step away from the moment...

Feeling like staying there for eternity...

But...as we've always known...

And then we have a boring life ahead of us again.

If your life is boring, I tell you, you're not really living it.

You're not bored.

Take a day from your life and dedicate it to what your heart wants. Wanted to read that book you love? Read it. Want to talk for hours with someone? Do it. As they say, "There is no time to do something better than now."

Have goals set for yourself. Aspire. Dream. Let your imagination run wild. Imagine and visualize what you've always wanted, what makes yourself want to burst into an ecstasy of happiness, joy and eternal bliss...

Let the dream get the better of you. Now work. Work towards it. Work for the joy of it. Work for the fun of it. When you learn to love and enjoy what you do, it is no longer "work." It becomes a part of you and runs within your blood.

Accept what you can and change what you cannot.

It Doesn’t Matter.

Hi. I’m Yash, an introvert. Not that I fancy calling myself that or it’s the new cool trend for saying I hate you, but it just means that I’m a little bit different than more than 80% of the world. And it’s good. Read about it…

Well, it doesn’t matter.

Sometimes when I try meeting new people, I’ve found talking a little awkward. One, I am blank about everything even though inside my mind is busy making decisions like “this person is successful” or “his shoes are trendy and new, he must be from a well-to-do family” or “such a sweet voice! I wish I could talk for hours!” but usually I’m out of ideas worthy enough to be spoken. I feel a rush of emotions when I talk to someone special even though I may be a “nobody” in their life. I treat everyone as special. Everyone deserves happiness.

I don’t ever understand life. I don’t understand people. I don’t understand why things happen how they happen. When science has an answer to these questions, I would still not bother.

Nobody teaches me how to talk. Nobody teaches me how to live. Nobody teaches me how to be happy. I’m an abnormally negative person if you ask me. Satisfaction? Never heard of it. Success? Don’t care.

Well, it doesn’t matter.

Inside my head I’m the most lovable person for myself, outside I believe I’m the happiest person in the world, even though it never shows. I’m a needy person. I’m poor-both emotionally and mentally. I may get the best of treatment from the world, I may deserve the best of lives, but it’s never enough.

Happiness? It’s a myth. I live in happiness for a million reasons, some very stupid to be invalid yet I’m so negative about things that I regret doing most of what I do or say. Low self-confidence.

Yet, it doesn’t matter. I love myself, and if you’re reading this, I love you. I can’t pretend to be someone else yet I’m the biggest lie in your life. I am an illusion, a hypocrite and I would never know which side of me is the better one.

People call me inherently good. They show that I’m good; they believe that I’m good; I believe that I’m good. What’s wrong in that? It’s never enough to me.

Accepting myself? I do that everyday, every second of my life. I accept everything I do, I accept everything that happens to me, even the bad things, because I know I can better myself, I can better the world.

Oh, it doesn’t matter.

When I say I don’t care about the world, I sincerely care about everything, everyone; every event, every moment, every happiness, every smile.

When people judge me and even when they don’t I feel insecure. Yet I’m a talkative and free person when with company.

It doesn’t matter.

What matters is that I am a life worthy enough to change the world, spread a smile, wipe a tear, do an unconditional favour, help a stranger someone, change a misguided life and make people happy.

“Does it happen?”

-Not the right question.

“Can it happen?”

-It can.

“Will it happen?”

-It will.

Why should it happen? Who do I care? Why do I want to be taken advantage of, and be forgotten for the rest of their lives?

-It’s because it’s like it. The world is like that.

Will I stop?

-Why should I?

Isn’t it useless?

-It doesn’t matter.

Nokia Launches Nokia X Range On Android

Nokia launched a new range of Android smartphones under the Nokia X range at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) with decent specs with affordability as the main criteria and aimed at growth markets. The new series consists of Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL.

Features

All the 3 Nokia smartphones use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8225 dual-core processor and run on the latest Android update, Android KitKat 4.4.2, though with some customizations so to speak. All Google services have been replaced with their Microsoft or Nokia counterparts and although the phones do not have Google Play, it is easy to point out that most of these apps are available on the third-party domain which means that you can use almost ANY app that works on an average Android smartphone on this forked version of Android.

Nokia will also provide a curated app store called the Nokia App Store having popular apps. Nokia will also provide nearly a dozen third-party app stores and many pre-installed apps like Skype, Whatsapp, BBM, Vine, Twitter along with Nokia’s offline HERE Maps, MixRadio and many other Nokia Asha and Windows Phone 8 features. Nokia also gives free 7 GB OneDrive cloud storage out of the box.

The UI is primarily inspired from Windows Phone 8 and Asha OS, with features such as Fastlane- an integrated social hub found on Asha OS, Glance Screen taken from WP8, Tiles inspired from Windows Phone 8 among others. Basically it is a Windows Phone- Asha hybrid with Android functionality, which is a BIG PLUS.

NOKIA X, X+ and XL

Nokia X and X+ have a 4” IPS LCD WVGA display with 512 MB and 768 MB RAM respectively. Both weigh 128 gms and support 2G as well as 3G, with a rear 3 MP camera and no front-facing camera for video calling. Nokia X+ also comes with a 4 GB microSD card free.

Nokia XL has a 5” IPS LCD WVGA display with 768 MB RAM, weighing about 190 gms and with 2G/3G support. XL has a 5 MP autofocus rear camera with flash while a 2 MP front-facing camera for Skype calls. It also includes the 4 GB free microSD card.

NOKIA X: ASHA+ WINDOWS PHONE 8 + ANDROID - GOOGLE= NOKIA X.

All the 3 phones support most of the previous rumours and bear close resemblance with the Asha and Lumia series in terms of looks, with different colours made available.

Nokia X would be immediately available in Asia Pacific, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle-East and Africa while worldwide shipments will likely start from Q2 of 2014.

The Letdowns

Nokia has put in a lot of effort, but keep in mind that these are budget smartphones priced in the range of €89 to €109(Nokia X €89, Nokia X+ €99, Nokia XL €109) so the hardware doesn’t have to be as promising as the various Android flagships. Nevertheless, the dual-core processor and less than 1 GB RAM may seem a letdown but it is hard to predict how efficiently the Nokia X series can handle memory, so no comment there.

VERDICT

Nokia has tried to prove something, and going by the information currently revealed and available, this offering seems pretty promising. Hope this to be a hit in growth markets.

Let’s wait and see the response worldwide.

I think now that Nokia has its range of affordable Android or "Windroid"-as some like to call it- smartphones at such competitive price points for a country like India it means a lot. Nokia has always been the market leader in feature phones and with these offerings Nokia can certainly hop to capture the sub-Rs. 8000 market with the Nokia user experience coupled with the first-class Android range of apps. This is a very big step for Nokia and even though the hardware is not worth boasting about, I think their strategy was to open the world of Android for the masses. That is Nokia in its true spirit. Nokia, with its high brand value and brand recall here can expect these products to be instant hits. We welcome the step.

You may not want to miss this phone.

A Humble Prayer

A humble prayer to God by Yashraj Talan

People talk about World Peace− great leaders from various respectable countries take part in Summits and meetings to promote world peace and bring about greater good among the countries. I, however, feel that such summits and meetings are, if not useless− which they are absolutely not − lacking in an area where the world should progress more− realization of their citizens.

What is a country worth, if it causes tyranny in the world, however wealthy and advanced it may be? What is a country worth, if it talks about fighting corruption and healing the wounds of the people, its citizens are corrupt from within itself?

My humble prayer here talks about a utopian country from the eyes of a humble citizen, free from all sorts of unpleasant things that prevail in our daily lives. This prayer may be grammatically incorrect in various ways and in various portions, but my intentions are solely humble and positive− to make people rise and realize the goodness in life.

Dear readers and God, please forgive all my mistakes as far as possible. I’m not preaching, but I hope you all will connect with my ideas very well and it would strike a chord with your lives.

I have always wished for a country where good flourishes all around me. A country where every citizen thinks for others before himself. A nation where people work with a clear conscience, a free mind and an open heart, trying their level best in every field. I wish of a world where nature and humans live in harmony with each other. Such a beautiful country can only be dreamt of in dreams, but your being the Almighty does not raise a single doubt that challenges the possibility of such dreams turning to reality.

Pocket: Keep Your World in Your Pocket

There’s a cool app called Pocket (www.getpocket.com) that does what you’ll put to use- Save Tweets, Facebook Posts, Web Pages, Articles and every other thing on the web into better, cleaner, minimal-styled content. Pocket defines it as “When you find something you want to view later, put it in Pocket.” You might have got the crux of what this actually is, and you’ll know more if you read on. Read on in it. :)

Here’s how it works- You install the app on your Mac, Opera web browsr(as an extension), Chrome web browser(as an extension), iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, as a Web App(i.e. access it on the web without any smartphone or Chrome web browser), Windows Mobile, WebOS, s60 or Blackberry. Phew. Then you create a web account on www.getpocket.com from the app/extension. Now all you save (go to www.getpocket.com/add/ and click on the respective links for the respective OS) goes there at www.getpocket.com/queue stays there until you mark it as read or delete it. Easy huh?

What’s more, you can now even Send the articles/links to your friends via email. You can also share or tweet them via Facebook or Twitter, or you can simply “Buffer” them (http://www.bufferapp.com) to share them to all social networks at once. You can also email links to it to save them for future access. It’s also integrated in about 393 apps for ease of use. That’s good!

Now there’s not much to tell about this heavenly app, and to get to know more and check out its other features you’ll have to use it yourself. Believe me, you’ll not forget to thank me. :)

Innovations gets a break

Hey all. This is an announcement I +Yashraj Talan, the founder and only blogger at Innovations, am going to give you all. Innovations has been a really good blog and I found out time for it. It got popular very soon, reached new highs, made history(for me at least) and was going up and up in the Search Results for Google(Image results only; http://images.google.com). I was loving the journey. But then came the biggest hurdles-studies. Studies are now a huge priority for me. I am in Class 9 now and have an immense pressure of studies. I don't think I'll find enough time to think something out of the box. That's the truth, anyhow. I thought some of my few loyal readers would be very disappointed to hear this, but I'll have to say this. I can't postpone this any longer. I am going to leave Innovations as it is for a while. If I do get some time to write a good review for some awesome gadget(maybe the S4?), I'l try to do that. But hey, look back at what this blog has achieved and you'll be amazed to find such big achievements on this simple blog. We've crossed 28000 page views, I have audience from more than 10 countries, people have found no problems in accessing this blog from more than 9 browsers, more than 10 operating systems, and I have loved the journey. I thought I'll monetize this cool blog, but then I thought who would take care of this blog after I give time to my studies? I tried advertising on some places for a blogger for this blog, but I didn't find any interested people.

If anyone is willing to give me a hand and blog for me, write about ANYTHING(yes, the freedom IS given to you) and talk about anything you can, post articles at rates of at least 1 a month, please help. I am really committed to my blog, but to my studies as well. Innovations has its good days running even when I am not posting, which tells that the blog is quite good. Its been about 1 and a half years since this blog came into existence, but now I really need your help to get this running much much longer than that. I need help.

As you may have understood by now, I am just a random student, and so it won't be possible for me to pay anyone, so I keep this job voluntary. Tablet PCs: Spoilt for Choice

Wasn’t it confusing enough to choose your next smartphone out of the already crowded lot with different OSes(Android-2.3, 2.2, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich,4.1 Gingerbread; iOS-iOS 6; Windows: Windows Phone 7, Windows 7.5 Mango, more recently Windows 8) and amazing specs, that the confusion regarding the next Tablet PC arrived to #WhatThe____ the minds of all Christmas season buyers? Now the world has Tablets with a host of differentiating features, screen sizes (7-inch or 10”), brands, performance, and the most important- prices.

Things, like Tablet PCs, are more than the number you'll find at your local shop...

The crowded market of Tablet PCs is too large to be talked about, and hence we pick for you the top 4 (slightly) affordable Tablet PCs for a great buy in India.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Starts @ ` 19,500

I have always been awestruck by Samsung’s range of best-looking Android tablet offerings, and Galaxy Tab 2 is no exception. It sports a 7-inch PLS display and is accommodated in a plastic body, the hallmark of Samsung’s design portfolio.

The fine speeds of the Galaxy Tab 2 are thanks to the 1 GHz Dual Core TI OMAP 4430 chip, which is enough for daily tasks and the occasional gaming. The Tablet delivers a good Android 4.0 experience and differentiates itself from the horde of me-too tablets with its extras like dual cameras, TV remote-control functionality and expandable memory [a reason why many buyers prefer buying a tablet powered by Android rather than an iPad, since the iPad comes in fixed memory sizes and has no scope for expansion via a microSD card]. The Tab 2 ships in with 2 versions-8GB (which costs ` 19,500) and 16GB. As said earlier, the memory is expandable via a microSD card. The Galaxy Tab 2’s resolution is 1024*600 pixels, which is lower than that of the Apple iPad Mini.

Galaxy Tab 2 users can pass photos with the 3-megapixel (3MP) rear camera in the device, and the front-facing VGA camera is enough for basic video-conferencing and self-portraits (which are grainy, given the quality of the front-cam).

The tablet’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich version will feel a bit rough if one has used a Google Nexus 7 earlier (which packs in Android’s latest version, Jelly Bean 4.1), otherwise it’ll be quite hard to point faults in the Android experience. Something great about Android’s new version is that the new Jelly Bean Android buffering software works to create a smoother user experience (which is best felt on Google Nexus 7), removing a number of software issues which hampered Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Overall, the Galaxy Tab 2 proves to be an economical device when compared to the iPad Mini, and will surely get many votes in its favour (favor) from those who want a reasonably-rich featured branded device without going too ahead of their budgets.

Apple iPad Mini Starts @ ` 21,900

Apple entered into a market bursting with tough competition with its 7.9 inch iPad Mini some time ago. But, the big question is, “is it really in a whole different league from the other 7-in tablets?” The answer is, as it seems, not a simple one.

In terms of cost, the premium-priced iPad Mini may still struggle to find its rightful space among all low-cost Android tablet clutter. But, considering number of huge Apple followers in the upper-middle class Indians, this tablet may still become the hottest holiday gift this season.

Subtle additions like palm detection, a narrower bezel and thinness underline how the Apple iPad Mini stands out from the others. This screen is now smaller by one-third of a regular iPad, and sits in an aluminium (aluminum) cased frame. The 308 g device is lighter by half as much as a full-sized iPad, which makes it easier to hold it in one hand. The Apple A5 dual-core processors power the iPad Mini, and the same processors power the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.

Just about everything on the iTunes App Store has been tailored to or adapted for the tablet and, thus, users get a ready-made library of games and tools for the iPad Mini. Another plus point in the tablet is its battery life, which varies between 6.5 hours and 10 hours, depending on the device usage. iPad Mini’s photo-taking quality is decidedly beneath iPhone 5, given that the iPad Mini has a 5-megapixel onboard camera packed in it. Consequently, the iPad Mini is not recommended as your primary camera device.

Overall, it’s beautiful and light, but Apple is a late-entrant in the 7-inch tablet market and a premium price-tag is not going to make it dearer to many. Those who haven’t bough a Tablet PC yet should definitely give the iPad Mini a try.

Google Nexus 7 ` 19, 999

Google teamed up with Asus to create the Nexus 7. The pretty basic looking tablet runs on Android’s latest version, Android Jelly Bean (version 4.1), backed by Nvidia Tegra 3 processor that clocks at 1.3GHz. Nexus 7 comes with 7-inch IPS display screen with a resolution of 1280*800 pixels, along with a gig of RAM (in easy words, 1GB), 1.2 MP front camera (that means there’s no back camera in the Nexus 7) and 4325 mAh battery, which gives up to 8 hours of good performance. The price alone guarantees that this tablet challenges the iPad Mini.

The rubberised (rubberized) back fits beautifully in the hand, thanks to a dotted panel design on the Nexus 7. When using the tablet and the Jelly Bean version of Android, you would surely realise (realize) how flawless it is, coupled with smooth touch operations. Google has tweaked a lot of things between the older Ice Cream Sandwich version (which is Android 4.0) and now. Even the most commonly used Google services like Gmail, Google Maps, Chrome browser, Calendar, etc., seem to have benefitted from the OS refinement.

Overall, the Nexus 7 is the right software that works perfectly on the hardware, at a price that is definitely competitive.

These were the top tablet PCs which you might consider buying this Christmas season, but for Indians, there is a good affordable tablet PC built by a local company (which means the company is Indian), Micromax. Maybe the product is available internationally, but you can check at the manufacturer’s official website.

Micromax Funbook Talk ` 7,200

It is easier to brush aside homegrown innovation, but Micromax has grown into a reliable brand with sturdy devices and it’s hard to ignore the latest tablet offering in Micromax’s Funbook series of tablets. The Funbook Talk (P350) is a 7-inch tablet and will certainly delight first-time tablet users. Just like Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, Funbook Talk also allows users to make voice calls, which is a definite plus point for many users.

This tablet PC runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich update and sports a capacitive TFT LCD display with a resolution of 800*480. The display may not be the best in class, but on recalling the price tag these issues will seem minor to you. Further, the Funbook Talk is powered by a 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM, and has 4GB of internal memory. Users can use a microSD card to expand the memory capacity by up to 32GB. Funbook Talk comes packed with a 2800 mAh battery which gives a browsing time of a little over 5 hours. While hardware specifications may not be worthy of boasting about, but should suffice a user for average browsing or media consumption apps. The device also supports USB dongles to surf internet on 3G.

Moving between apps seems to be a less-than-smooth operation, but speed is not why people would prefer the Funbook Talk. It is affordability and the free pre-bundled apps that Micromax provides that shine through. Being part of the Funbook family, the device is pre-loaded with educational apps and data for primary-undergraduate students along with sample papers for engineering, medical and MBA entrance exams.

Overall, Funbook Talk does not hit too many highs in performance, but if you are in need of a reliable tablet PC for younger family members and a secondary calling device for the family, then Micromax Funbook Talk is hard to skip by.

Here’s how to fend off imposters on Facebook

Surfing the social networking site unassisted can be a perilous exercise. All you need is a software equivalent of a club bouncer.

Close to 53 million users from India have their personal data, photos and contact information associated with their profile pages on Facebook. While online privacy is a huge issue of concern for many internet users, and Facebook, the world’s most popular social network, is the main platform over which many agonize (agonise) about the safety of their personal data.

Its not rare for users to come face-to-face with spam activity that goes from their Facebook accounts to their friends or see their Facebook profile endorsing a brand they have never interacted with on the social networking site. How does this happen? Blame it on the third-party social apps (game apps, or thought sharing apps, location-based apps, etc) linked to your Facebook account that can essentially track your life on the internet. Industry data suggests one in five apps even collect your friends’ data.

But securing your information on Facebook isn't as difficult as you might think.

Securing data from third-party apps

Do you recall how many times you have granted permission to an app to access your personal information on Facebook? Also, do you know how to access permissions’ page on your Facebook to revoke unwanted permissions? If your answer to those questions is ‘no’, then you should take advantage of a new service offered by MyPermissions.org.

MyPermissions.org allows to quickly check all your permissions across the most popular social sites (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, etc). You do not need to submit any personal information or log-in details to MyPermissions, simply click on the appropriate icon and you will be taken to that site’s permissions page where you can then review a list of permissions already granted and remove any apps or websites you don’t recognize(recognise) or you no longer require. Users must treat all permissions to third-party apps as risky since the personal information thus provided can be utilised(utilized) for identity theft as well as a plethora of other roguery.

*Change your password at periods-

Using a strong password every time and changing it with a better or equivalent one is the simplest and the most important advice one would give to you.

*Do not paste any code in address bar-

Once I saw a video post on my Facebook wall that asked me to copy-paste a code that was written on that video, and after I did it, my Facebook account just couldn't be opened. I tried the "Forgot your Password?" link, changed my password, and then I realised that I had accidentally inserted a malicious code into my Facebook account, that lead to my account being compromised. Be careful, don't just visit any link shared by any XYZ friend, unless you either know that its a trusted link or you have a good antivirus solution with you.

*Activate Secure Browsing-

On activation, you will be able to browse Facebook on a secure(https) connection. To activate this, go to Security Settings and click on "Secure Browsing" and tick the little box beside "Browse Facebook on a secure connection(https) when possible". You can go there manually by clicking on the little arrow pointing downwards(present at the top-right corner of any Facebook page), click on "Account Settings" and then choose "Settings" from the left hand pane.

*Enable "Login Notifications"-

This is a pretty handy way to find out when a hacker logs in to your account through a device other than the one you use(ie., the one you use to log in to Facebook). When someone logs in, you receive an email to your email address notifying you that someone logged in to your account and if you have "Facebook Texts" enabled, you will also receive a message notifying you of the same, after which you can take action by clicking on the link in the email. To activate it, go to Security Settings, click on "Login Notifications" and then tick the boxes before "Email" and "Text message/Push notification".

So, with these precautions taken, you can ensure your Facebook experience will be "safe and sound".

OUTLOOK.COM- Time for "Goodbye Hotmail"?

A month or so back Microsoft updated the design of its web email service, Hotmail, or Windows Live Mail, as it is called. The new interface implements its recently unveiled Metro interface, which is also featured on its new Windows 8 operating system. Outlook, as it is now called, is a really good email service now. This improvement has come at a time when Gmail has 425 MILLION USERS across the globe (or 300Million probably, as new reports say that HOTMAIL has 330MILLION users) as it remains a constantly evolving product and people are bored of the ageing Hotmail. This major improvement is considered as the biggest one yet in its eight years of running. The new Outlook.com is in no way related to Microsoft’s corporate desktop email and calendar program. Instead, Outlook.com’s clean design is closer to the simplicity of Windows phone 7 and Windows 8’s Metro (tiled) interface. It does not disappoint, but before you get yourself a brand-new email id, here are some of its FANTASTIC features:

Simple Design: The Design is extremely simple, with all important tasks at the top and on the left pane and a good-enough chat window pane at the right occasionally. The design is seemingly inspired by Microsoft’s new upcoming flagship product, Windows 8, for example the new Windows 8 Metro scroll bar.

User gets unlimited storage, and those with existing hotmail.com, live.com ids can switch to Outlook.com with the existing address.

SkyDrive: Free apps like Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote allow users to view and edit attachments without leaving the inbox.

Automatic folder feature helps organize and prioritize users’ inboxes in a way that can work in virtually any type of desktop or mobile email client.

The old email ID continues to get E-mails, but on a different folder, while the new folder receives mails sent to the @outlook.com email address.

The users who do not get impressed by the new interface can switch back to their @live.com or @hotmail.com IDs easily.

The new service, or rather upgrade has been rated quite well by many Tech Websites, like Gizmodo, et cetera (etc).

The new website also includes nice themes, a clean uncluttered interface, special effects and a good appealing look. Its COOL features include online photo viewing (shows photos in a black Facebook-theatre-view like frame), chatting (includes connecting with Facebook to chat with online Facebook friends), access to other email services (if you prefer one email service over multiple accounts, you can easily add multiple inboxes from other services, including Gmail. With this option, you can read as well as send a mail from any account by selecting the preferred address from the dropdown menu.), and social media integration(allows connecting and enjoying a bird’s eye view of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, with Skype to be added soon). The funky emoticons (smileys) add to the fun exploring.

Outlook.com is great place to be at(only after Facebook, Twitter and Google, of course), and a tough fighter against the likes of Yahoo! Mail and Gmail. If Microsoft hadn’t upgraded the decade-old Hotmail, I would have surely dumped the platform. But patience pays off, FINALLY!

Stick to a same tagline. Users like new things, but you start losing customers who liked the earlier one, but don’t like this.	Coke, the leading brand for soft-drinks has been changing its tagline in the recent years, and is now sticking to its “Open happiness” tagline. When you start switching all the time, people don’t recall the brand easily, and you lose to your peers. If you’re going through a brand rename, make sure that you let everyone know that it’s the same you, and not yOuu, which means that they should remember the brand as the old as well as the new.
Earn trust: Earning the trust of the consumer is the toughest job, and if you succeed to conquer the heart of even a handful, the word of mouth makes your task really easy.	Do not off the limit: To earn the trust of the consumer, you need a good staff,(or clear promises, if you don’t overdo them) that wins the heart. Make promises, but never those which you can fulfill but not when things go wrong a bit. I read somewhere in an interview of the McDonalds India CEO that the McDonalds food chain, while under a transition of look, put up mysterious posters stating that the shop was under renovation and one fine day they opened it up as a better place to dine at. They consumer likes pleasant surprises, but not too many of them. In short, GIVE LOW EXPECTATIONS, AND THEN OVER-DELIVER. That’s the mantra (key) to success.
Be clear with what you are able to provide: If you are giving a handsome 40% discount at a cool smartphone, and then when the interested consumer goes to the website and finds “TAXES EXTRA” written in small letters, he’ll give a really bad impression to the brand.	Make sure the website/staff is appealing enough to attract the consumer for the product. Make the website elegant, not like a 20-year-old text document.
Don’t over-publicize: Give publicity to the brand, but not like the same brand shouts ‘Buy now and get 10% discount! Hurry’ on each commercial break, and at all times.	Let the consumer recall you easily. Often a good song accompanying the commercial does the trick. In online adverts, make things surprising by writing things that increase the interest of the customer and let the user engage with the brand. ENGAGING with the brand is of a lot of importance, as you won’t want the user to buy a good product one day and then completely forget about you.
Don’t go VIRAL: Just liking a brand for a day and then neglecting it is really of no use. Don’t just attract a million users to the brand, as they may or may not be the right ones who might be interested in buying the product. Often people check deals online, and after getting complete information, but the product at physical stores.	Keep something new for the loyal customers. A simple loyalty bonus in the form of a small gift coupon may also help. It is this loyal customer that is of utmost importance, for he is the key source of income and of the most important category of consumers.

Quite recently, India saw the launch of the smartest Android smartphone, the successor of its highly successful predecessor Samsung Galaxy SII, the Samsung Galaxy SIII. It is run on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, the latest Android version. It competes for attention with Nokia Lumia 900, Apple’s iPhone 4S and Its own predecessor, Galaxy S2.

What’s S3 all about

A bigger and better display, a bit heavier weight and a powerful processor are packed into this latest mobile from the Samsung stable. Its dimensions are 136.6 mm x 70.6 mm x 8.6 mm. It sports a 4.8 inch super AMOLED HD screen and weighs just 133 g. This means that it is lighter than the iPhone 4S(around 140g). Its display of 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 306ppi can wow any person, even the blind. This display means that it would display colours brightly and distinctly.

A power-packed hardware of 1.4 GHz quad-core processor and a 1 GB RAM having internal storage of 16-32 GB (can be expanded with microSD cards) does make sense.

The S3 delivers the slickest Android experience anyone may have ever had and brings iPhone like levels while switching between apps and pages. It can flit through apps, games and pages very swiftly which is why all that hardware is.

The Galaxy smartphone is equipped with a 2100mAh battery for the first time in smartphones to ensure enough power for the bigger screen and improve battery running time.

Camera-wise, you’re looking at an 8-MP rear camera with single LED flash and 1080p HD video capture as well as 720p HD front-facing camera. The video quality is remarkably impressive, with vivid colours and sharp details.

One of the most eye-catching features in the S3 handset is the Siri-rival S Voice. Though it might feel like a me-too if you’ve already tried Siri, but it may turn out to be fun if it’s your first attempt. Voice commands for setting alarms, giving directions to the nearest restaurant and movies running nearby gave accurate results promptly.

Another noticeable feature is the Smart Stay, which ensures than the display never dims or turns off while one is looking at it. The Eye-Recognition feature (in which the front camera scans the user’s face) works well and comes handy while watching videos.

The S3’s camera is easily on par with imaging heavyweights such as Sony Xperia S. A comparison reveals that the S3 has a better camera output than that of iPhone 4S. This is because of new features that make photography easier on the S3- like Burst Shot, where the phone captures 20 photos quickly and selects the best photos for you. The second function is Zero-shutter lag. The S3 is equipped with face-recognition software, which marks a picture of your friend and reminds you to send a photo of him/her.

You can’t dispute Samsung’s superiority with the quad-core processor inside S3, best witnessed while running multiple applications. But surprisingly, the Apple iPhone 4S, with just a dual-core A9 Cortex processor, did not seem to lag either. And in design, we are rooting for Apple iPhone 4S, because its elegant and fits the palm.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy S3 is worth a buy if you have the pocket to spend a whopping ` 43,180(INDIA); the device is a superior amalgam of hardware and software that you can cram on your pocket. Does it beat the iPhone 4S? It does-in hardware-but that doesn’t mean the iPhone 4S is inferior. iPhone 4S is equipped with iOS 5, one of the most user-friendly interfaces. The question- WHICH IS SUPERIOR: ANDROID OR iOS? - has been a much debated one for years. A device purchase, after all can be a matter of preference. Here’s the last gem: While one has more functions, the other is easier to use. And the last thing- The Samsung tagline reads:

"Designed for Humans."

As you and everyone else on this planet knows, Smartphones are and have been consistently influencing lives, changing and improving the way we live. Recently, 4G or FOURTH-GENERATION MOBILE INTERNET TECHNOLOGY was rolled out in India by a telecom major Airtel. People have big bets on it as it has the 5 times more speed and bandwidth than its predecessor 3G. Not to forget the speed, which is a staggering 100 megabytes per second (100.0 mbps). Here are some examples that completely define it:

¨ Digital newspaper: A free newspaper gets delivered on your Smartphone or tablet PC, and you can actually have it to read whatever news you want, in the language you instruct it to. You read a headline and want to know more about it, and the device instantly brings to you the detailed report from the leading websites.

¨ Watching movies and mobile TV: You pay a small amount and get the desired movie on your device to watch. If wanted, you could sync it to your 4G-enabled LCD Smart TV in your own language (yes, 4G can be integrated into things more than Smartphones). And not to forget, the movie would surely be HD, or maybe 3D too on your 3D TV sets. Mobile TV can be watched seamlessly on 4G, as it has a very huge data bandwidth, giving crystal clear images.

¨ Video Conference: You are late for a very important meeting. The front camera of your Smartphone or tablet connects you to the meeting room and you are saved from your boss’s hard words.

¨ Directions for every place in the world: You are in a car. The Smartphone syncs with the car via the Bluetooth and gives directions to the place we want to go. The software in the car automatically takes you to the place, avoiding every possible obstacle. The car may stop anytime as and when asked for. Well, this is a bit more into the future, you may expect this in the next 5-10 years or so.

So, you must have got a brief idea of what all can Smartphones and 4G change together. Maybe all this gets into action in or around 2015 or even quicker. And not to forget, LTE(Long Term Evolution for GSM) is also on the cards in the next few months. 4G has the potential to change our lives forever. Smartphones have, in the past 3-4 years, evolved as real ‘SMART’ devices, the leaders being Android and iOS platform(iPhones) Smartphones. Tablet PCs too, have a big role to play- replace laptops and Personal Computers as all-in-one devices. But this may not turn out to be the case as new innovation keeps taking place in the laptop space, like Netbooks(for Net Surfing), Notebooks(for Office and normal usage like gaming etc.) and more recently, Ultrabooks. The Android platform by Google and iPads offered by Apple are the biggest hopes in the Tablets space for the future.

After Facebook started off in the eighth year since inauguration, another social networking platform was launched last year. Google Plus, as it is named by the technology giant Google Inc. , is a new platform with many useful features as well as a good Google integration. Google also has another social networking website, Orkut which has not been able to garner much success yet worldwide. People have great expectations for this much-hyped new service by Google, and feel that this could be a game changer. Here’s a quick peek at the basic features:

Hangouts- Video chatting with up to 9 people about any post with anyone in the user’s circles	Video Calling- Facebook has partnered with Skype to provide individual as well as group calling.

I know this website has been stale for a month or so, but its just because I've not had any time since then. I must've told you that I am just a 13-year-old teenager.

A look at the new iPad

Apple iPad 3

As you all know, Apple has recently launched the 3rd iPad in the market. The tablet PC has been in the news since the hype created by it when it was launched in 2010(probably...). It has more than a million apps in the Apple AppStore and the quality apps are totally worth it. Here are the technical specifications:

Resolution: Apple takes screen quality to a high with the Retina Display(as on the iPhone 4). Its resolution is about four times higher than its predecessor iPad 2(iPad 2 has a resolution of 1024*768 pixels).
Processor: The iPad has a quad-core graphics processor to play all stuff at a more-than-3D quality. The HD videos play really smooth on the new iPad. Also, its new A5X processor is arguably the best one to allow everything to go smooth on it.
RAM: The RAM in this iPad is at 1 GB which is more than enough for an iPad user.
Other peaks include:a 9.7in display, a camera on the front, a 30-pin connector at the bottom, power and headphone jack on top, orientation lock switch and volume rocker on the right and an aluminum back, speaker post, camera on the rear having the ability to shoot high-definition video and image stabilization, home button, a microphone icon on its virtual keyboard having the ability to dictate emails or other notes on the device.

Summing Up

To sum up, last year was a big time for Android tablets, but the iPad commands its own sweet spot in the tablet market and in 2012, the battle is not just between iOS and Android tablets but also with tablets on Microsoft's Windows 8 platform. Until then, the new iPad gets our

This really happened some time ago in an Indian airline.

A 50-something year old white woman arrived at her seat and saw that the passenger next to her was a black man.

Visibly furious, she called the air hostess.

"What's the problem, ma?" the hostess asked her

"Can't you see?" the lady said - "I was given a seat next to a black man. I can't seat here next to him. You have to change my seat"

- "Please, calm down, ma*" - said the hostess "Unfortunately, all the seats are occupied, but I'm still going to check if we have any."

The hostess left and returned some minutes later.

"Madam, as I told you, there isn't any empty seat in this class- economy class. But I spoke to the captain and he confirmed that there isn’t any empty seat in the economy class. We only have seats in the first class."

And before the woman said anything, the hostess continued

"Look, it is unusual for our company to allow a passenger from the economy class change to the first class. However, given the circumstances, the commandant thinks that it would be a scandal to make a passenger travel sat next to an unpleasant person."

And turning to the black man, the hostess said:

"Which means, Sir, if you would be so nice to pack your handbag, we have reserved you a seat in the first class..."

And all the passengers nearby, who were shocked to see the scene started applauding, some standing on their feet."
