Farewell: A long and drawn out goodbye to fashion blogging

I guess I should write a farewell post? I mean most of you have already realized I'm gone. I stopped blogging just after the new year. It wasn't a conscious decision, I just ran out of things to say. I thought I might rebound, but it's been over a month (maybe two, I stopped counting) since I even thought about blogging. If you were one of my avid readers you remember my meltdown last Summer. I knew then that I should stop, but it's kind of like a bad relationship and you just have to push yourself to the limit before you stop. Don't get me wrong, blogging was not harmful to my health, it just quit being therapeutic.

I didn't stop loving fashion, I'm just tired of being part of the noise. Everyone and anyone is a blogger these days, that's the beauty of the internet right? But there are so few unique voices out there. I used to think I was unique, and maybe some of my posts were the first of their kind, but you wouldn't actually be able to prove that. I got lost in a sea of trends and keeping up with the fashion Jones' if you will. My husband always joked that "My Thrifty Chic" was my starter wife, so who knows what the future holds. As of right now I am content with my life. I get to cook dinner and watch netflix marathons with my husband without checking my blog stats. I can watch the Academy Awards, and then turn them off when they get boring without worrying about a "best dressed" list. I have one less obligation in life, and that is nice.

I thank all of you who took this journey with me. This blog has changed the person I am, as cheesy as that sounds. I am a completely different person now, and I would say a better one too. I have made a lot of friends through my blog, and somehow avoided any internet trolls. I have never received a derogatory comment on my blog, I think that is a success in itself... or maybe I was just playing it safe.. you decide. I still love fashion, so I welcome any conversations or questions you have! I still have the My Thrifty Chic Facebook page, and my Instagram. If you want to remain in contact I would love that! Thank you again for all of your support, my readers, my friends... farewell.

This is where I first dreamt up this blog... and thus it will end here as well.

Despite my self proclaimed eclectic style, I love J Crew. The simplicity, the quality and their attention to detail really appeals to me. Their prices on the other hand, leave me feeling sad. I cannot afford to shop at J Crew, even their outlet prices are too expensive for me. But, I do get really excited when I find J Crew items at the thrift store! This neon pink blouse is a little flamboyant for J Crew, but I kinda love it. I wore this outfit to work the other day, and one of my coworkers asked me if I had to plug the shirt in. It's bright, but it's not crazy bright, right?

I wore this outfit last week to a charity event that my husband and I attended. How I came upon this outfit is a whole other story. You see, B informed me that we were going to an "event" on Friday night. When I asked what kind of event, he told me, that thought it was a charity event. This is exhibit A on why men aren't allowed to be in charge of the details. It's not that I cared what type of event it was per se, but I was concerned with what I was going to wear. B was not at all worried about the dress code, and stated that he planned on wearing a t-shirt and jeans. I made him ask his colleague (who invited us) what the attire was. The response I received was "casual." I was still not sold on the information I was receiving, so I Googled the venue. It was at a fine dining restaurant! B was holding out strong and ended up wearing a collared t-shirt (that's dressing up for him), and I went with this lace and leather LBD.

With this dress, I figured I wouldn't be thrown out of the place. I think that the mixed textiles add some panache and the neon necklace keeps it young. I don't mind being over dressed to an event, but being under dressed is simply unacceptable! When we got to the event, I was relieved that it wasn't black tie, and that it was in fact fairly casual. B could have tried harder, but he wasn't super out of place.

Some of you might be thrown off by this title, because well... I don't have kids. The truth is, I don't have my own children, but my brother and sister are practically my kids. I am 13 years older than my brother and 16 years older than my sister. It's safe to say I had a big hand in raising them. They often tell people they have two moms, but usually follow that statement up with "no, not like that." Anyone who knows me, knows that my brother and sister are a huge part of my life, I wouldn't be the person I am today without them. Their existence has always reminded me to be a better person and to be the best role model I possibly could for them.

A couple weeks ago, my sister had her first ever soccer tournament. I played soccer for 8 years, and I am so excited to impart my knowledge onto my sissy. My sister is 12 and she is very athletic, way more than I ever was. She has played sports her whole life but they were at schools where everyone made the team, not exactly a super competitive environment. But this year, she moved schools and she made the varsity soccer team as a 7th grader. That's pretty big stuff when you're 12! When I found out she had a tournament, I just had to make that 4 hour drive north to see her play. She was so happy to have me watch her, she really wanted to make me proud. The issues for my sister though, is that she hasn't had much coaching in soccer, and there are still a lot of the basic skills she lacks. She has raw talent, but needs some fine tuning. Having 4 games in one day was the best blessing she could have had. I was able to work with her in between games and tell her what she was doing wrong and how to fix it. I also might have been one of those crazy moms yelling from the sidelines... whoops.

The most shocking part of the day, was that my sister listened to every little detail, and she corrected the behavior. I expected her to get annoyed with me, but she was such a gracious learner. I was beaming with pride watching her play that day. She might not have been the best one on the team, but she was definitely most improved in one day! It was literally one of the best days I have had in such a long time. I love that my sister and I have something new to share together.

I think the denim on denim trend might be waning, but I wanted to throw a look on the blog before it's completely outdated. The necklace I'm wearing is a newbie from Ebay (surprise, surprise). I love, love, love wearing statement necklaces with collared shirts, probably my most favorite trend of the last decade (well that and shorts with tights lol). I went full on Southwest with this look, from the turquoise bracelet to the fringe boots... I might as well be holding a rain stick.

Healthy Snack Options: Sweet Potatoes

We've surpassed the mid point in January, are you all keeping up on your resolutions? I didn't make any fitness goals this year (I'm still working on my goals I set last summer), but I have been keeping up with my goals to eat healthy. Eating healthy is not something that comes naturally to me. Growing up I was an extremely picky eater, and I didn't eat broccoli until I was 20! In the last 8 years however, I have learned to broaden my horizons. I still don't like Brussels sprouts (even with bacon), you won't find me eating a bowl of kale or going on a juice cleanse. But, I do my best to eat things that I like and that are also nourishing. I've always loved sweet potato fries, but I have been learning new ways to make them that do not require a deep fryer.

I love salty-sweet combinations, and sweet potatoes are the perfect canvas for such flavors. You can make them savory, or you can make a dessert out of them.There is an on going debate over the difference between a yam and a sweet potato... You can read more here if you like, but for the sake of argument, I'm calling these sweet potatoes.

This snack can be eaten by itself or as a side dish. It's very simple and very nutritious.Sweet potatoes are starchy and have a few carbs, but they have so many other benefits! Sweet potatoes contain iron, B6, Vitamin C and D, and they are a good source of magnesium (a natural stress reducer). The recipe I am sharing today is one that I try to make at least once a week. I make a large batch and then stick it in the fridge and eat it throughout the week. One large sweet potato will garnish a big enough batch to have snacks through the week. I recommend only eating a small portion at at time (size of your palm). While this is a healthy snack, you don't want to over load your body on starches. Also, a little goes on long way, these babies are very filling.

There are a ton of different ways to season sweet potatoes, but I only use the 4 ingredients above. I don't have exact measurements because the size of my sweet potatoes always vary. I keep my seasoning light because you can always add more, but you can't fix this if you put too much! On average, I use a tablespoon of EVOO, a tablespoon of brown sugar, a teaspoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of salt. You can adjust your measurements for the amount of potato you end up using use.

I combine all the ingredients and the cubed sweet potatoes into a bowl and mix thoroughly. Next, lay them flat on a cookie sheet (I line mine for easy clean up), and put them into the oven at 350. Depending on the amount of potatoes you have the time will vary. I would start with 20 minutes and then check them every 5-10 minutes after that. When they are fork tender, they are done. They will not be crispy, so don't expect that. If you want crispy fries, that's a whole different recipe.

I bought this vintage blazer 3 years ago and this is the first time I have ever worn it! I have pulled it out of the depths of my closet a few times, but I never could make it fit with anything. I love the fur cuffs, and I think it used to have a detachable fur collar (when it was new). I would guess this blazer originated in the 80's due to it's broad shoulder structure and tapered waist. This jacket and blouse marry well together. Since the blouse is more flowy it can make me appear wider in the mid-section, but the jacket cinches me in all the right places.

DIY Dream Catcher Tutorial

I have been on a craft hiatus for months (not of my own accord), and it feels so good to hold a hot glue gun again! You might have read my post 'Home Decor Resolutions' earlier this year, where I vowed to redecorate my apartment. One of the tasks on my list was a dream catcher. I used to make these all the time as a kid, but I wanted to make a contemporary one for my house. Luckily, I had almost everything I needed in my craft drawer already. I only had to buy some feathers and those gorgeous turquoise beads. If you are thinking about making a dream catcher, you really can't screw it up. There are a ton of interpretations, and I would suggest using things you already have in your home.

I pulled out a bunch of craft supplies to see what my plan of attack would be. I had some white rope that I decided to use to wrap around my neon orange embroidery hoop (I bought this hoop over a year ago for some other random project and never used it). To start, I began wrapping the rope and hot gluing it to the inside of the hoop.

After my hoop was fully covered, I placed my doily inside the hoop and began to tie it in place with white embroidery thread. You can weave your own web inside the hoop if you like, but I saw a dream catcher on Pinterest with a doily and I had to try it. You can also use any string or thread you have laying around, I just happened to have a bunch of embroidery thread from all my DIY friendship bracelets.

After you have finished the center of your dream catcher, you can then attach anything you want to hang from the bottom. I went more traditional and I attached feathers. I bought the feathers at Michael's craft store, but I'm sure you could find them in your neighborhood if you took a walk. I saw other examples on Pinterest where people hung ribbons and lace, so that is another option. For the final step, I decided to add turquoise beads. I threaded them on some more embroidery thread and tied them on the string holding the feathers. I also put one little nugget in the middle of my dream catcher for aesthetic.

Below is the final product! What do you think? I personally, am in love with it! I hung it right over my bed, and I cannot wait to continue the redecorating process in my home.

Celebrity Look For Less: Fashion Blogger Edition

Fashion Blogging is an industry emerging into it's adolescence. It's an industry that has really blown up in the last few years, and is very over-saturated (Hi, I'm one of them). In it's infancy though, there were some fashion bloggers who worked really hard, and got lucky. There are quite a few fashion bloggers who have been thrust into celebrity status. And although I don't think any of them ever anticipated the stardom they would face, I'm positive they're loving the spotlight. I don't know the exact statistics, but I would guess only about 1% of fashion bloggers worldwide gain any significant notoriety. Don't forget, these ladies are not like Paris Hilton, they weren't born successful, they have put in the hours it takes to keep themselves on top. I look up to these women, they are self made, and they are pioneers in their industry.

Besides being innovators and early adopters in their industry, fashion bloggers have impeccable style. Fashion bloggers are their own stylists and are trendsetters in their own right. So instead of my usual "celebrity looks for less" segment, I decided to focus on celebrity bloggers today. The three bloggers I've picked, all hold a special place in my life. I have been fortunate enough to watch them grow, meet two of them and really just be inspired by their achievements. They all have luxury closets, but I have done my best to show how can bring out your inner fashion blogger, on a budget!

I don't know what it is, but this time of year, I am drawn to sparkle! This is the third outfit post in a row, that I have worn sequins, or in this case accessorized with them. Not to mention, as I was prepping outfits to shoot for this weekend, I pulled out a different sequin skirt. My brain is stuck on shine.

As for this adorable tote, I picked it up at my local Goodwill. When I first saw it, it was dirty and I didn't know if I really liked it. Do you ever have moments like that? Where you're drawn to something but you can't figure out why? I threw this tote in my basket because I didn't want to be kicking myself if someone else picked it up while I was debating. I ended up going all the way with this bag... I took it home and I hand-washed it. Once I got her all spiffed up, I knew I made the right decision. I'm pretty fond of this new accessory.

Here's a story for "Throwback Thursday"- I worked at The Limited in college. It was my first and last retail job. I was only there for three months, and out of all my jobs, it is still the worst job I have ever had. "Please let me stand at the front door with a hand tally, clicking for every person who walks in" SAID NO ONE EVER!

Cashew Chicken Stir Fry

I am always looking for new recipes, so when I found a crock pot chicken cashew recipe I couldn't wait to test it out. This past Sunday I planned to try the new recipe, but by the time I started to make dinner it was 3pm and I knew a crock pot meal would take way to long. Upon further examination of the recipe, I realized I could do it all on the stove top, and it would take less than an hour! I made a few adjustments to the original recipe, so here is my take!

2 lbs chicken breast (or chicken tenders)

1 Tbsp olive or canola oil

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 Tbsp rice vinegar
2 Tbsp tomato sauce (or ketchup)
1 Tbsp brown sugar
2 cloves minced garlic
1/2 tsp ginger powder (or fresh)
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/4 cup diced red bell pepper
1/2 cup steamed carrots

1 cup steamed broccoli

1/4 cup sliced green onion
1 cup cashews

Serve over steamed rice (jasmine or brown)

Sautee diced chicken with a dash of oil in a hot pan. Add the diced red bell pepper and continue to sautee until the chicken is fully cooked. While the chicken is cooking, mix all ingredients for the sauce in a bowl: olive oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, chili flakes, ginger, garlic, and tomato sauce. On another burner, steam broccoli and carrots until tender (I use a bamboo steamer). Once the chicken is fully cooked, add the sauce and steamed veggies to the pan with the chicken. Allow the pot to simmer on low for 2 minutes. Then stir in the green onions and cashews, and simmer an additional 2 minutes. You can eat this by itself, but I served mine over steamed rice.

This image doesn't even do this dish justice. I was so impressed with the amount of flavor, and it has just the right amount of heat. I assume the crock pot version would have tasted similar, but this was so much faster! This is a super quick and simple meal to throw together last minute.

I love how rugged the terrain is in Los Angeles (okay, maybe rugged was an exaggeration). But seriously, I love that Los Angeles is situated in the middle of a bunch of hills, giving so many options for areal views. I have been to the top of many mountains here in SoCal and each view is different. I know my family would scoff at me referring to a metropolitan area as a "nice view" (they're more into real wildlife, not the crazies of Hollywood).

We drank in this particular view from a hilltop in Culver City. Although my backdrop is a little out of focus, from this hill you can see all of downtown, the Hollywood sign and the entire coastline from Marina Del Rey to Malibu. For me, the view is always surreal. I grew up in a town of 10,000 people, so the fact that I am actually surviving in a city of 4 million people, surprises me sometimes. Los Angeles is not an easy beast to tame, especially the entertainment industry (which is B's one and only dream). Sometimes the struggle can feel overwhelming and the thought of a simpler life seems appealing, but these views are like a reset button. They remind me to breathe, and remember why we're here.

What I Wore: A Look Back at 2013

2013 felt like the longest year ever, it seriously felt like it would never come to a close. And yet, here we are on the eve of 2014, and it all feels like a blur. It's funny how we can spend so much time watching the clock, counting the days and then in hindsight it all goes by in a flash. All of these images were taken in 2013, but some of them feel like they were taken a lifetime ago. I took many, many more outfit posts than what you see here, these are just some of my favorites.

I still wear all of these looks, and some are more well received than others. The gold sequin skirt is always a hit, but those elephant pallazo pants get a lot of stares (I still love them). My plaid Steve Madden trench kept me warm this winter when LA temperatures dipped into the 30's, that chevron maxi was worn to a gay wedding right after the bill was passed. The floral maxi was worn to many summer events and Aztec poncho kept me warm at my little sister's cheer events. I love being able to document my life in clothing. There are so many different things that can spark a memory: food, music, pictures. But for me, my clothes tell my stories, where I've been and what I've done. Perhaps, that is why I become so attached to them.

Home Decor Resolutions in 2014

I am not one to make New Year's Resolutions, it just not something I've ever really done. I am the type of person who doesn't need to wait for a new year to start doing something I should have been doing months prior. I do like to contemplate new ideas for the new year, so I guess I'm not that much of a rebel. There is something about New Year's that feels like a slate has been whipped clean, and new beginnings are upon us. That's not usually the case, but hey, we need all the positive energy we can get these days right?

I haven't really thought about what 2014 will hold for me personally or professionally, I'm just hoping it's better than 2013. As I put away my Christmas mess however, I began thinking that 2014 needs to be the year I actually decorate my apartment. I have lived in the same 700 square feet for 3 years now, and I never expected to stay past the first one. This place was supposed to be temporary, and yet we've lived in this apartment our entire marriage and longest place we've lived in the 8 years. I think it's about time I decorate a little.

When I first moved in, I decorated the living room a bit and then stopped there. I have two empty picture frames in my bedroom that have been hanging on the wall for over a year... not shitting you. I can give you a list of explanations as to why I haven't done more with the place, but let's not. Going forward however, I am going to make a serious effort to spiff up my apartment. Below I have found some darling pieces that I think will really make my house a home!

I want to go with a Southwest/Rustic Modern theme in my bedroom. Ever since my visit to Grand Canyon this past summer I have been intrigued by Southwestern style. I don’t want to take the theme too literal, after all my Grandfather’s home is covered in head-to-toe American Indian decor... not the look I am going for. My inspiration for the bedroom is drawn from Georgia O'Keefe and her art and her studio. I want to keep things clean, while adding color. I also want to juxtapose my modern furniture with some more rustic pieces. I already own a cow skull (like the image above), but I want to build more around that. I want to make a contemporary dream catcher and find an Aztec print quilt. I also want to paint some new art for my bare walls. 2014 will be a year of decorating, arts and crafts!

Currently my living room is an eclectic mess. I have mismatched furniture, a giant dog crate, IKEA bookshelves (that are falling apart), and I am out of space. My living room is the room we spend the most time in, so naturally it gets messy very quickly. We watch TV, we eat, we converse, we work, we do pretty much everything except bathe in there. B has been dying to buy a new sectional (all of our sofas have been secondhand thus far), and I think I might just allow this purchase. If we were to get a sectional, it would take up a lot of room, but I would get rid of a couple things that aren't as functional anyways. I also would like to make a table to go behind our couch to add extra shelving (DIY tutorial here). In addition, we need a new coffee table, preferably one with storage. Our current table is very basic, and I really need to find alternative organization solutions (here is the DIY for the crate table shown above). As for that clear stool.. B recently constructed a pretty kick ass easel for me. I am now in need of a stool, and I like the idea of having a contemporary piece in the apartment. As for the cow rug, well this is something I've always wanted! It must be the hick in me. I have found them for $100 (they usually go for $500) but I am afraid my dogs will pee on it. I have to figure out a way I can put this in my house without my pup destroying it. The final project I want to complete in my living room is my quote wall. I am a huge dork when it comes to quotes and sayings that other people came up with. I love the idea of having inspirational quotes framed on a wall. I have already began this process, I just need to add to it!

I have been taking these awkward outfit photos for three years, and they don't get any less embarrassing. Most of the time, the end result is worth the uncomfortable stares. Sometimes, it's the outfit itself that I like best, other times, it's the location. B and I stumbled upon the serendipitous locale. Of course I like my outfit, but I love how the silver and burgundy play off the turquoise wall. I love shooting outfits against plain colored walls, in fact I wouldn't use any other backdrop if I could find enough colored walls.

I purchased this faux fur scarf last winter on clearance. I was totally enamored by it online, but when I got it home I struggled with how to style it. It's a tab bit shorter than I expected, and is really bulky. It really throws of the proportions with most outfits, so I only wear it with blazers and dresses. Do you ever have issues with buying online and not liking something when you get it home?

If you've ever planned a trip to Los Angeles, I'm sure one of the "places to visit," that made your lists is the Grove. The Grove is located in the heart of LA; where West Hollywood meets Beverly Hills.The Grove is an outdoor mall and is always bustling. Quite frankly I do not understand all the fuss, but if you're looking to catch a celebrity sighting, the Grove is usually a safe bet. Even the local celebs think the Grove is the place to be! B and I took our chances with the crazy shoppers and tourists this year in order to check out the holiday decorations. The Grove is decorated from end to end in Christmas sparkle. I usually hate taking blog photos near people, but I couldn't resist the backdrop. While B was fumbling with the camera, Melissa Joan Hart aka Sabrina the Teenage Witch, walked up with her family to snap a few pictures too! See guys... celebrities are just like us (sarcasm).

Christmas Rewind

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! I just got back to LA after 5 days in my hometown, and although, I love seeing my family, I am always reminded why I don't live there. Holidays are especially busy for B and I. We have to make our rounds to multiple homes, and I usually need a vacation from my vacation. As a child, I hated holidays, everyone expected me to come to them, and no one really thought, "hey, what would Tori like to do?" It's still that way, but I have learned how to balance it all a little better. My family is comprised of divorced parents, divorced grandparents and a lot of really inconsiderate extended family. I always envied my friends who had one big family gathering each year, not 7 little ones. I hope one day to have a big enough house that I can host a holiday, or even better, we'll just take my favorite family members to the Caribbean.

All of these pictures were taken at my Mom's with my siblings and my nephew. We had a royal feast, and then my brother and sister got some new weaponry. My brother (14) is into collecting knives and both he and my sister (12) got new air soft guns. Tummies were stuffed, presents were unwrapped and hugs were given. All in all, it was a great Christmas, and I'm thankful the next one isn't for another 12 months ;).

My Thrifty Chic turns 3 today! I cannot believe it has been three years... well I kinda can, it's been a lot of work! When I started blogging, I thought it would be easy and ideas would flow from the heavens. I started with 7 blog posts in mind, and thought that was a good enough start. Boy did I underestimate the work it would take, the countless hours I would put in, and the lack of profit I would make. But all that aside, I love this blog. What to Wear: New Year's Eve

I know everyone is in Christmas mode, and trying to pick up all your last minute gifts, but have you thought about NYE yet? You could easily pick up a new outfit (or pieces of one), while you're shopping for others. New Year's Eve is one of the biggest party nights of the year, and if you're going out on the town, you'll need to stand out in a sea of sparkle! You could easily dig in the back of your closet and grab what you wore last year, or you can check out these fresh ideas!And if these looks aren't enough, check out my NYE Dress Guide from last year!

This first look is a nod to the 90's (which is totally trending right now). I envisioned this look with tights, but if you're in a tropical location, you can go without. I love the shorts with tights trend, and adding sequin shorts, is just icing on the cake! I paired the shorts with a crop top, because that is another popular trend right now. And although I don't have the abs to pull off a crop top, I think it works really well with this whole look.

20's fashion made a resurgence this year and the release of The Great Gatsby blockbuster solidified it's popularity. I love 20's fashion, I loved the simple silhouettes and the beautiful beaded details. This look is more of a luxe 20's look with the faux fur collar, the embellished clutch and the golden headband. I think this look is so beautiful, you could wear it to any party. I didn't dress up for Halloween, so I planned on doing a 20's themed NYE outfit!

This look reminds me of something Dorothy would have worn to a club in the Emerald City in 2013. Sequins are a must for NYE and emerald was the Pantone color of the year, so you almost have to incorporate it, right? This blouse is giving a nod to the art deco era and those emerald studs are simply gorgeous.

This look is a pretty common outfit for NYE, it's nothing crazy, but definitely worthy of a night as glamorous as New Year's Eve. I love the idea of pairing jewel tones with the silver sequins for a more formal look. And that brass knuckle clutch is for one badass b*tch.

I think the word luxury was originally defined by someone wearing burgundy and gold. This color palette is as rich as it gets! I love this ensemble because you can wear it for multiple occasion, and style the individual pieces many different ways.

Tulle, Sequins, Rhinestones and a translucent clutch... it's like every 2013 trend rolled into one amazing look! I love the mix of textures in this look, and I would wear this outfit in a heartbeat! There is something so classic and feminine about this look, it would be impossible to not look like a million bucks in this!

Red is my mom's favorite color, and without fail everything red reminds me of her. Growing up she always wore red lipstick, red nail polish and usually had her hair a shade of auburn. Needless to say, red is her color. When I found this jacket, I knew my mom would love it, but I also knew it wouldn't fit her, so I bought it in her honor. This jacket is definitely a statement piece, and not something that I can wear everyday.

Christmas is right around the corner, 2 weeks to be exact! I thought this year was never going to end, and now I can't believe it's almost over! I am not a big a fan of purchasing useless trinkets, so I found a few items that are bound to make your friends and family smile! These photos were taken a week ago when the weather was bearable. It has since become so freaking cold in LA, it's ridiculous!!! I know, I know, there are other places covered in snow... but I don't live there! It was 39 degrees this morning at 6am, that's damn near freezing! B and I joked that we should get a rent discount when the weather drops below 40. Any who... I'm just being whinny.
The great thing about this outfit, is that I can layer it and it will be suitable for cold temps. I will definitely be wearing this with tights, knee socks and a scarf before the week is over!

Few clothing items are less disgusting than leather on a warm or even semi cool day. It has to be below 60 for me to even consider wearing these pants! Maybe the real stuff is okay to wear, but this fake pleather material makes me crazy sweaty... which... really freaking bums me out! I love the look of leather, I think my alter ego is a rocker chick, but it really isn't a practical textile to wear.

Hello Fashionistas!

I hope you all had a spectacular Thanksgiving! Mine was bittersweet, I always enjoy seeing my family, but the traveling really wears me out. I would love to have a big enough place to host it, so I don't have to ever travel on any holiday ever again... But whambulance aside, I had a great 5 day weekend! I am still kicking myself that I did not take a single picture, I guess I was soaking up the moments as they came.

I have been hoarding this dress in my closet for almost a year. I bought it last March after a friend wore it as a bridesmaid dress. I do not usually rush out and buy something at retail, but I loved this dress so much I couldn't help myself. And then, reality set in, I couldn't figure out where to wear this?!? It's not like I usually require a reason to wear something, but I struggled to find the right occasion for this frock. I finally decided that I would stop worrying about the perfect occasion, and I decided to dress it down with a trench. I wore this out to dinner with B, and now that I've devirginized this dress, it's not on a pedestal any longer, lol!
