Jewelry

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Fri, 18 May 2012 03:05:00 +0000

People keep suggesting different places I could go to take pictures. That's great and all, but my house is filled with so many wonderful and interesting things to shoot right here. This is part of my jewelry collection display on my dresser. And yes, I did make some of those beaded necklaces. I'm so wildly talented, that I also make my own jewelry.

Lawrence Farmers' Market

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Fri, 11 May 2012 00:28:00 +0000

I created postcards from these images to support and sustain the Lawrence Farmers' Market. My favorite is the "spicy dino."

Lap Dog

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Thu, 10 May 2012 23:41:00 +0000

Can't you just see this guy straddling you on the couch, staring you down, then settling into your warm spot after he got you to leave? He was very stoic when I got in close to take his picture at the Fiddling and Picking contest.

Fraiser Hall Flags

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Sun, 11 Mar 2012 16:54:00 +0000

Went on campus yesterday to shoot a collection of alphabet letters on the buildings. Still working on those, but caught the Fraiser Hall flags while I was there. This may be my new postcard design!

Final Friday Exhibit

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 02:39:00 +0000

Spent the night setting up my posters and cards, along with some origami boxes and mixed media collages. The show is tomorrow from 6-9pm. I'm excited and nervous at the same time... (Photo by John Clayton).

February 2012 Card and Poster Designs

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 06 Feb 2012 17:59:00 +0000

I finished a new set of posters over the weekend. It's been a long time coming. Some of the photos were from last summer. Added three more "We Are Connected" images (my favorite theme), and two humorous pictures with Steve Wright quotes. See more on my Flickr page: Shala's Flickr Stream

Country Bridal

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 02 Feb 2012 16:49:00 +0000

Haven't decided what words (if any) to pair with this photo: Western Wear? To Have & To Hold? Papa, don't shoot?

KU Moses

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 19 Jan 2012 20:57:00 +0000

I want to add words to this latest addition to my University of Kansas campus photos, but I can't think of anything appropriate....yet.

Lawn Chair Security

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 19 Jan 2012 20:03:00 +0000

I've been working with watercolors and found papers since Christmas, but I came back to this photo taken last fall. My neighbor has a big community "burn" of leaves and twigs. These are the chairs he pushed together for the clean-up afterward. The dog had just had a litter of pups and was very curious about everything happening on the other side of the fence.

Magical Christmas Card

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 23 Nov 2011 14:21:00 +0000

This is one of my brother's photos, taken on a summer's day in Florida using an infrared technique. A Florida boy his whole life, he experienced his first snow on a vacation with me and Sameah in Chicago one Thanksgiving. This photo shows off his amazing skills at composition and technique.

9 new holiday cards!

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 21 Nov 2011 16:37:00 +0000

I've been energized this holiday season! I finished nine new holiday cards in record time. AND I'm selling them at a big discount. My regular cards are $5/each, but these are $4/each.

And since I'm not the only one that only puts a stamp on an envelope only one time a year, I'm selling a set of 5 for $16 and a set of 10 for $30.

Email me to order some. I can also create personalized messages!

I can hardly wait for the holidays and time at home with my art board!

Sparkling Christmas

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Sat, 19 Nov 2011 02:47:00 +0000

Went with friends to Nell Hill's in Atchinson, Kansas, this afternoon. Now I want every Christmas to be a sparkling Christmas!

Holiday Inspiration

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 18 Nov 2011 05:34:00 +0000

This is my favorite holiday decoration and makes a lovely holiday card.

Soaring Hawk

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 24 Oct 2011 22:21:00 +0000

I left this one without a watermark so you can download it and use it as computer wallpaper. I'll add it to my site in multiple sizes, as well as mobile sizes, too.

Meerkat Sees the Light

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 07 Sep 2011 03:20:00 +0000

One of my favorite photos from my Sunday at the Kansas City Zoo. I never saw what he was looking at, but whatever it was, he loved looking at it.

Storm Cloud Line

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 05 Sep 2011 04:34:00 +0000

Portentous front of storm clouds moving fast over the bridge into Lawrence, Kansas, just in front of the construction site by the dam.

New Artist Bio

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 24 Aug 2011 15:06:00 +0000

I had no idea how hard it was to write an artist bio. Here's the new one I wrote for my show at Mirth going up tomorrow.

Resonate

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 19 Aug 2011 21:59:00 +0000

Took this photo at the Lawrence Farmer's Market. Almost called it "concentric resonance," but that seemed too literal :-)

Going/Coming/Home show

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 04 Aug 2011 15:11:00 +0000

I'm dropping two prints off at the Lawrence Percolator for their Going/Coming/Home show. I'm very excited to have been accepted into it. http://www.lcava.org/

This one is for my mom.

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 27 Jul 2011 14:52:00 +0000

My mom asked me to send her prints of Alan's three images I've worked up so far: the soaring eagle, the seagull, and breaching whale. I'm working on Alan's lighthouse next and thinking of my mom the whole time.

Heal

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Tue, 19 Jul 2011 14:30:00 +0000

I've been wanting to work with this photo for a long time. It's a sunrise from the deck of my office building. One of the very first pictures I took with Alan's camera.

LIL*T

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 15 Jul 2011 15:38:00 +0000

DSC_0051, a photo by ShalaDesigns on Flickr.

The name of this garden, show in a sculpture in sign language, was hung under the bridge at the Overland Park Arboretum. It was a lovely effect, nearly hidden in the shadow.

Kansas Lawnchair

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Thu, 14 Jul 2011 23:03:00 +0000

Jean Philips told me that her horses are her favorite lawn-art. So, I'm guessing this must be her favorite lawnchair.
