Chapter 1 - This is Erotica.
Like seriously, it all began out of REVENGE. And the problem was all because the door wasn’t shut. As in, it was pushed closed but the lock wasn’t secured. It wasn’t safe. His eyes slammed wide open, the formation of his smile reversed, his mouth hung, fright flying back into his eyes. He flashed my hand down with a sharp thrust, it slapped into my lap. He held it there. I wrung my hand out his grip, asked, “What’s wrong? Eehm? You intimidated by Qwan?”

“N-no...No .. but .. bu-ut .. you righted?”

“If mi righted?” I looked away to the bathroom mirror in front of us. “Mi want it burn him.” The bitter hurt I felt from it all last night began to swell, bubble and explode in my chest. “It’s my damn revenge.”

My Thoughts: I, Spy was fast paced and incredibly exciting! From the very first sentence I was drawn into the book. Talia was an awesome protagonist. She was witty and fun. Her funny little asides throughout the book made me smile. She was really tough, too. She was in some potentially dangerous situations, and she kept her cool.

The secondary characters in I, Spy were great. Elliot always seemed to have something funny to say. He was a joker, but very dedicated. Danny and Talia's relationship seemed to be on a crazy roller coaster that was following all the twists in the story. Fyodor was charming and evil, a perfect antagonist.

While I haven't read many books based in Canada, I felt like I could picture the places McCollum wrote about. Her descriptions were descriptive and had interesting facts.

I, Spy kept me guessing. I was on the edge of my seat during one particular river scene, just expecting the worst. For each question answered, there seemed to be a million more. I was doubting people and then wondering why I ever doubted them. Jordan McCollum wrote an intriguing mystery that offers readers a lot of enjoyment, twists, turns, and romance. I would suggest I, Spy to any lovers of mysteries with a little romance thrown in.

My Thoughts: Ripple deals with some really tough issues. Even after reading the description of this book I was shocked by what had happened to Helen's daughter, Phoebe. I hurt for both Helen and for Phoebe. E.L Farris wrote characters that I could care about, and I had to find out what would happen to them in the end.

Helen was a very no-nonsense woman. Her career was a huge priority for her. When she learns what happened to Phoebe she starts to go through a major transformation. I liked her as a no-nonsense woman, so I am happy that she stayed that way, but the change in her priorities made her a better mother and I can imagine a better person. By the end of the book I had a lot of hope for her future.

I found Phoebe to be a strong character. Considering everything she was going through, she was still very strong. She had passion, could have an attitude in a snap, and she was rebellious. She showed a lot of growth through the book, thanks to all the amazing women that she was surrounded with, and thanks to finding her inner strength in a time of need.

I loved the other characters in the book. The women from the safe house were so great. I loved their banter and the love they had for the women they were helping. The other lawyers and the therapists were amazing, too. All of these people cared so much for Helen and Phoebe. The little back stories that filled the book helped to add so many dimensions to the book. The sociopath that lurks was terrifying. I was so afraid through the book that he would not be found or stopped. It kept me on the edge of my seat.

Farris wrote such a heartbreaking beginning and then took readers through a wild recovery process. There was so much suspense as the danger drew closer. I would suggest this book to any one who enjoys a good thriller and isn't afraid of tough issues. Ripple is well worth the read.

My Thoughts: I've never gotten into many books that feature political or environmental issues. Junction, Utah had both, and in a way that I started to think more about those issues. This isn't a book that pushes it's beliefs at people. I thought that Rebecca Lawton did a good job in showing different sides to several issues.

When I read a book, I love being able to picture the places in my mind. Rebecca Lawton wrote this book with such beautiful descriptions that it was easy to picture it. I enjoyed seeing the river and the canyons so vividly through my reading. She also described the experiences, like getting through the rapids of the river, with so much detail.

Madeline and Chris were believable characters. They both seemed to jump in and handle problems around them. Their interactions made me chuckle sometimes. I enjoyed the other characters, too. Madeline's mother, Ruth, was a bit of a favorite of mine. She has a quote for every moment in life, and she is the epitome of never giving up.

My Thoughts: Fall of Sky City was an amazing book! That seems like a simple description, but it fits so perfectly.

Synn was such an interesting character. His thoughts and feelings throughout this book were very relateable. Sure I don't live my life on an airship or in a city on a lethara, but I could understand how he was feeling. I don't read many books based on male protagonists but Synn outdid many female protagonists I've read about in the past. He was fierce and incredibly brave.

This entire world that SM Blooding created sounds beautiful. I can picture it in my mind while I am reading. The people, their homes, the creatures, the sky. Blooding gave me such a clear picture of it all. The dynamics between the people were very interesting. I was especially interested in how the Elders of the Great Families held meetings, and how the House of Tarot could gain so much control over people. I also loved the different Marks and the powers people had.

I will end by repeating that this book is amazing. I was drawn into quickly and I hated when it ended. I want to know what will happen in the next book. SM Blooding did such a great job with Fall of Sky City. It's a book I will love reading again and again.

Top Ten Tuesday - Top Ten Words/Topics That Instantly Make Me Buy/Pick Up A Book

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This weeks theme is the Top Ten Words/Topics That Instantly Make Me Buy/Pick Up A Book.

1. Dystopia - I love books where the world as we know it is over, and a new society is either starting or is already established.

2. Zombies - I enjoy zombie apocalypse books (and movies).

3. Revamped Fairy tales - This is a new obsession for me. I love the retold fairy tales. I just read The Never by Kristina Circelli, which reminded me of a darker Peter Pan.

4. Fae - If Fae is in the title or description I will pick the book up.

5. Shifters - I used to only read about werewolves, but the entire shifter world gets my interest lately.

6. Holocaust - I love history, so most books set in the past interest me, but the Holocaust has always drawn my attention the most.

7. Titanic - When I was a teen I always got any books I could find on the Titanic, fiction or non-fiction. That word still catches my attention in a book.

8. Young Adult - I know that is a whole genre, but I tend to pick up any young adult books, especially with compelling stories, like 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher and Chasing Nikki by Lacey Weatherford. I also love young adult romances.

9. Rockstars - I blame, and thank, S.C. Stephens for this one. Ever since Kellan Kyle, I am always looking at books with a rockstar in them.

10. Wolves - I love wolves. Werewolves, real wolves, it doesn't matter. If there are wolves involved I am going to check it out.

My Thoughts: I read the synopsis of this book without even associating it with anything. It sounded interesting and I wanted to read it. I started the book and was a little ways into it before a commercial for Peter Pan came on and it clicked for me. I dove back in and drank the story up, loving every moment of what Kristina Circelli could tell me about The Never.

The story and characters were complex and always twisting. Every time I would think I had a grasp on something, a new lie or secret would be revealed. There was just so much mystery, and I didn't want to stop reading. I needed to learn about all of the secrets surrounding Arianna. I had to know what each of the three men in her life were hiding from her. The adventures were wild! These weren't the cheerful adventures from the movie my children love. Circelli wrote adventures that had me holding my breath. I desperately needed to know the outcomes, but I dreaded them as well. There were deaths and thievery, and darker things that were sad to read. But there was also love, joy, and redemption.

This was the first book of Kristina Circelli's that I have read. It was an amazing way to be introduced to an author. The Never will take readers flying, pillaging, fighting, loving, and learning. Circelli has amazing talent, and I cannot wait to read her other books.

My Thoughts: Endless is the fourth book in the King Series. I was both excited and sad to read it. I hate the end of a series. Even when the author is nice, like Tawdra Kandle, and adds an epilogue for some glimpse into the future. Still I jumped right into Endless (after re-reading the series, of course). I couldn't wait to learn what Tasmyn would be doing next.

Kandle makes sure that there is never a dull moment for her readers. Endless was full of mystery and excitement. Tasmyn's powers are a bit volatile, and I never knew what to expect from her next. There were a couple times where I was cheering her on, as she threw a few things around.

I loved some of the new characters. Aline helps Tasmyn so much in the book, and so does Zoe. I also love Seth. His character added so much to the story. I wish that I could follow him more. I wonder about his Bible study group, and if they have gifts like Tasmyn. I loved to hate Cathryn. She was a major instigator.

I know this is supposed to be the end of Tasmyn's series, but I am hoping that there will be so much more in the King Series, or some sort of spin-off. What about Nell? Where is Rafe? There were glimpses and moments, but no endings. I have faith I'll get some answers. Hopefully Tawdra Kandle types fast though. I'm ready to read more.

My Thoughts: I loved The Marriage Bargain so much, and I was dying to know what would happen with Andre and Tasha. So I jumped at the chance to review The Marriage Caper. Sandra Edwards definitely did not disappoint. A handsome de Laurent and a woman who can stand her ground made this book perfect for me. It may have even out done The Marriage Bargain.

Andre was fun in the first book. I loved his character. In The Marriage Caper readers get to see a much bigger picture of him. He has insecurities, he's funny, and he is very honorable. Tasha entertained me in the first book, too, although her part was small. I loved her in this book. She has remarkable strength. The things she goes through are not easy, but she holds her head up and does what she thinks is right.

This book has a slightly similar premise as the first book. They get married, each for their own reasons, but also because they love each other. Of course secrets, family drama, and tragedy ensue. Edwards really took me on a roller coaster with these two characters. I was constantly wanting to know what happened next, and I stayed up late just to finish reading the whole book. Well worth my sleepiness the next day. Awesome job Sandra Edwards! I hope I'll be reading Lecie's story one day, too.
