House Weighs Health Bill

...the battle lines have hardened as Democratic leaders predicted passage of the House bill and GOP leaders vowed to derail it.

"We will pass health care reform," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said after Obama's visit to Capitol Hill.

Meanwhile, House Minority Leader John Boehner vowed to do everything he can to "stop this from becoming law."

"The American people do not want this," he said. "We're going to do everything we can to make sure this does not happen."

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor said Democrats are joining their side to vote against the bill.

Water Rationing For Venezuela's Capital City

Residents of the Venezuelan capital face cuts in water service for as much as 48 hours per week, after the government imposed rationing to stem a 25 percent shortfall in the city's supply, officials said Monday.

Officials said cuts in water service were to be staggered throughout Caracas through the duration of the current dry season, which is not expected to end until May 2010.

Weather forecasters blame the "El Nino" weather phenomenon, saying the periodic weather system has markedly reduced rainfall and created drought conditions.

Others blame the shortage on poor government management of the country's water resources, while President Hugo Chavez faulted the excesses of capitalism.

I bet Hugo has plenty of water. You know, some pigs are more equal than others after all.

Dallas Woman Fuming Over Smoking Neighbor At Complex

A manager and attorney for Estancia Townhomes, a 52-building community near Prestonwood Country Club in North Dallas, said it's unlikely the Daniels sustained any smoke damage. There is a solid, two-hour fire wall from the foundation to the roof between each of the homes.

And even if some smell did seep through, the Daniels renewed their lease at Estancia – where smoking is permitted – six months after they say the problem began.

The only thing that stinks is whatever their ulterior motive is. But kudos on the gas masks! Nice touch! Loser pays anyone?

Sorry Tim, but you've got to do more than collect all the same old, same old advisors and positions if you want my attention or vote in 2012. Right now you sound like the same old song just a different verse.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been quietly assembling the blueprint of a presidential campaign and will announce Thursday the support of a group of high-level political strategists and donors, complemented by a handful of top new media consultants, POLITICO has learned.

Pawlenty, under the radar of D.C.’s political community, has locked up some of the key operatives who engineered then-President George W. Bush’s reelection campaign — a significant feat for a little-known Midwestern politician.

The moves underscore, and will lend credence to, the emerging belief among many establishment Republicans that Pawlenty is becoming the sole viable alternative to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a potential Republican primary rival. The Minnesota governor has even gone so far as to contact some of Romney's former supporters.

I refuse to help field another John McCan't candidate - even if it means a second term for Obama. The same goes for you too, Mitt.

The Dream:

I dreamed I was holding a singularity (a black hole). It was like a soft Styrofoam and felt sticky. I could drop things into it and watch them be consumed but, if I concentrated, I could also put it down on a surface without it sinking or consuming the thing it was on. It also didn't consume me. It definitely got heavier quickly, but barely grew in size and slowly at that. It started about the size of tennis ball and by the time I woke it was about the size of small dodge ball. It all took place in a house I never lived in (a family friend's) but that I had good memories of. The dream had an unusual quality - I wasn't quite aware I was dreaming but I was in full control of what was happening. I could think "let me try this" or "let me go here" and I could. It didn't have the heavy lethargic feeling of most dreams.

The items dropped in were eclectic - a pen, a globe, a golf ball, a computer monitor, medicine bottles, a full soda can, stuffed toys, pieces of paper, paper clips, paper towels, I even held it under running water. I was curious about what was happening but also slightly afraid I would lose control of the object.

My grandfather was in the dream and would periodically walk through from one room to another. He didn't interact unless I spoke with him until right before I woke up. He knocked on a door and asked me what I was doing. I put down the singularity and turned around to talk to him. He left and when I went to pick up the object, it was gone. It had sunk into the floor. I tried to get it back and while I could get a grip on it if I tried to pull it back it slipped through my fingers and sank again.

Apparently Ted Kennedy was willing to deal with Soviet Union. No, not to protect and defend America and the West, but rather to get a Democrat (most likely himself) elected President.

Ted Kennedy's Soviet Gambit

Kennedy's message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. "The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations," the memorandum stated. "These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign." [...]

"Tunney remarked that the senator wants to run for president in 1988," the memorandum continued. "Kennedy does not discount that during the 1984 campaign, the Democratic Party may officially turn to him to lead the fight against the Republicans and elect their candidate president."

Kennedy proved eager to deal with Andropov--the leader of the Soviet Union, a former director of the KGB and a principal mover in both the crushing of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the suppression of the 1968 Prague Spring--at least in part to advance his own political prospects.

Apparently swimming away wasn't a one time thing. He tried to do it to the whole nation.
