What the heck, it's supposed to be your special day. So I was helping someone at work in the warehouse and squished her foot with a hand truck wheel. It was no big deal but the only thing I could focus on was her wearing flip flops to work. Yeah it's Friday, dress in jeans, but flip flops. You're not a life guard. Plus you're around food.

Finally a good point about flip flops that isn't from me. Janeane Garofalo was a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon a few days ago. And she brought up a point about flip flops and mandals "guy sandals" that is way bigger then just saying "wearing them is lazy". When the world turns black and the zombie apocalypse happens - how are you going to get away wearing flip flops? Have you see the movies "Top Ten Zombie Movies". And most recently 28 days later and I am legend. They have brought in a new kind of zombie. A fast moving almost army trained walking dead. I brought up this point to the girl friend who is a big supporter of flip flops and she said that she could out run them. Then I reminded her that bad things happen with zombies and broken glass would be everywhere and what if she lost a flip flop? Her reply was have you seen my feet? I can walk on glass. I'll have to loan her the book Zombie Survival Guide . I am very proud of Janeane Garofalo for her open mind and great vision of the future. What footwear will you be wearing when the zombie apocalypse happens? Flip Flops, I hope not.

It's Easter and I'm sitting in a pancake house lobby waiting to be seated and in walks a family were the son in law, obvious, he was the only thin one. He is wearing a smedium collard shirt, ratty tan cargo shorts and flip flops. I know everyone isn't into following the book, god knows I'm not. ha. But you are going out to eat and that is what you decided to wear. You know when you see something and you feel bad for them. Well, I cried on the inside.

I'm sit here writing this blog with a coworker 4 feet away wearing flip flops who is a sales person who sees customers. I love the fact that today "Friday" is a jeans or a collard shirt day for some but when did wearing flip flops for a sales job become ok. I wish I could tell you they are nice flip flops but they aren't they might of been bought on this rack at fred meyer.

I just don't see flip flops being formal enough for work that is a sales position. And if I worked in food and someone was wearing flip flops in my kitchen to show me product then I don't think I would take what they say seriously.

Aww, summer. I don't mind if someone wears flip flops but if your feet look like they should be an animals foot, don't wear flip flops. Twice last week I saw some dude, usually an 40 year old or late 30's wearing flip flops with the worst looking toe nails that I have ever seen. not just gnarly colored usually black but jagged and knife like. Do you think you could die if someone cut you with a nasty, black and I'm sure virus filled toe nail? And what kind of women would sleep next to that. AMERICA get better standards!!

I was asked by a girl "do you really hate flip-flops? " It's not like I'm throwing shoes at people like the nut job PETA freaks with the paint and fur coat people. They just look lazy, they make chicks look lazy and they make dudes look like fucktards. Yes, you, wearing the $260 jeans, popped collar on your bright pink polo shirt but wearing sporty flip flops. Yes, I'm a shoe freak but I own zero flip flops. I take that back, I own one pair and they are in a plastic bag with road flares and a timer. A photo project I've been working and thinking of for a while now.

I don't think it has anything to do with me hating flip flops and an incident in the past, I just think they are dumb. I also think I have narrowed the hate down to a certain kind more then others. They are the super thin and usually worn with jean skirts. The combination alone should never happen. You would think July would be the heart of my flip flop hate but it has spread to all year with every season having representation. Having a shitty government isn't the death to our world and country it's the lack of respect to each other and to wear flip flops at work.

Today is the official start of summer, also the official day of hearing the sound and seeing the nasty. I don't have anything wrong with good looking feet or women feet in general. It's just the laziness of flip flops. They should never leave house or they should never be anything more then a shower shoe. This morning I received an email from a local news reporter friend that she wanted to call me and tell me that one of the other reporters was doing a story about flip flops. I've been on vacation for the last 10 days so I had a chance to go to breakfast with my mom before she went on her vacation, so I brought up the flip flops topic and she brought her foot up from the side of the table and said "what is wrong with these". First off, get your nasty foot away from the area of my food. Second, I had respect for you. Then she points out that the guy across from us has his feet out and sitting on the bench across from him. Now I sound like a grandparent, but where has the respect and courtesy gone? People would get dressed up for going out and wanted to look good. I won't lie, I have maybe 200 t-shirts and 5 shirts that have more then 2 buttons but it doesn't look like I just came out of the shower or that I walked here from the farm. I just pray that the maker of UGG boots doesn't come out with an UGG sandle.

Today I was walking through the mall that is very spread out across two blocks downtown. While walking through the tunnel to the other side of the mall with the movie theatre I had my first sighting of socks with flip flops. White Socks! I now know that summer is officially over. The calendar may of told us that it has ended but this is what I needed to know. It was very sad. He was a younger kid maybe 18 and he didn't look to much like a dope, until you looked at his feet.

Here is a major reason you should wear shoes! Or SHOES!

On Monday I had a Softball practice because the media League is having it's playoffs next week. After the scrimmage I was walking back to the car and these two guy's who are walking in front of me are talking about a injury because he slid in his softball game. After he points out that he was safe and had to slide he asked the guy about his toe. He said he hurt it riding a mini bike. He said he was riding the bike at the beach wearing, wait for it, flip-flops. He said he was riding around the beach house they were staying at and someone threw something at him and he crashed into a car. Do I even need to say that if he was wearing shoes he wouldn't have a hurt toe. Second why is a person riding mini bike? A scooter should be the sissy"ist" thing you should call a bike. I hadn't seen someone riding a mini bike in the city until I was playing softball in my Sunday beer league. We play all our games in the ghetto. It's just not the mini bike that gets my blood boiling. It's when you see this hot little piece of ass riding on the back of a crotch rocket or a fat Harley and she is wearing flip-flops. First off, the damn things could just fly off, so why even wear them? I pray everynight that these people learn their lesson and touch there foot on a hot exhaust. Will everyone pray with me. Nails on a chalkboard! While sitting in someone's office today I could hear it coming from down the hall. Right away I knew the sound and the body type of this person. I don't think I have super human hearing but it's just obvious.

Guy's who wear flip flop's to work are all the same type of guy. Everyone has this guy at work he is "frat guy". Every story he tell's of his past and every single story of the present all are the same. They are things you don't care about and when told you know he has added major key points of interest that are not true. Like that time...we'll call him Jeff, Jeff jumped over a dog, that was on top of a pic nik table. Need I say more? The person coming down the hall wasn't a fast walker like "Jeff". This was slow. The same type of slow when you see Elephants at the zoo. Scary enough it's the same body style. Big, Slow and full of drama! All I ask people is that you learn how to walk in flip flop's, to silence the slap! Shhhh, people are tyring not to work, only to get distracted by the heard of flip flop's coming down the hall!!

I have told a couple people around and about with my hate for flip flops. The best is that they all hold up their feet and say are these flip flops? One person my friend Amy brought up a good point, do flip flop haters like walking around bare foot? I don't mind it but I won't walk outside without shoe's on. She wears flip flops and loves walking around bare foot. We might be onto something here.
