Managing Mars Retrograde (Jan. 23 - April 14, 2012)

Monday, Mars, the second least likely classical planet to move retrograde, does just that. He remains retrograde until April 14th. Given that Mars can represent new and start-up action, does that mean nothing new can be initiated for nearly twelve weeks?

Conventionally, starting new projects during retrogrades, especially those of Mars (next week), Mercury (coming around again in March for three weeks) and Venus (six weeks in May - June), is not recommended. That said, it is also true that often folks can miss out on fully applying magnificent transits, such as a rush of beneficial Jupiter energy or the titillating boost to the next life valence level offered by Uranus (or Ceres or Eris).

Did I just recommend ignoring the retrograde adages of astrology? No, not exactly. To navigate the close-to-shore straits of these celestial channels, care is needed. Honestly, general axioms slopped onto collective consciousness is a difficult thing. And one must be like the fox crossing the ice, as noted in the I-Ching. Listen carefully, feel everything, watch your environment like a hawk, and pay attention to your guts and hackles.

Perhaps the best approach might be one of seeking out your favorite astrologer who can examine your chart with your soulful priorities in mind and working to ensure the best results from real world matters. Categorically, this is not a time for generalization. Apply the uniqueness of your chart and figure out with a professional what might be your optimal path. Some people can and will flourish during any of the retrogrades noted above. Some should be encouraged to advance, while others should be supported in reviewing, editing and developing savvy strategies for the near future in lieu of pushing a rope.

To begin the theme of managing this Mars retrograde, an interesting ongoing conjunction can be well applied. Presently, and for the next three months, the centaur, Asbolus, hangs out with the mystifying dwarf planet Sedna. Sedna's priorities evolve from a perihelion in Cancer (security stuff - it's urgent, dammit) and the node in Leo (spinning a tidy, soulful aura).

First and foremost, do you have what you need in this mundane plane to provide shelter, comfort and nourishment? This is essential, and also soulfully supportive. When confronting any new circumstance or opportunity offered by others, use Asbolus to see if it's a good, fostering fit.

Asbolus was an augur and noted for reliable intuition and insight, unless he was under the influence of wine. Like Chiron, we was wise, just and typically spot on with his perceptive assessments of the immediate environment. His "psychic" perceptions were not based on what will come from the future, but more in the "take care of right now and tomorrow likely unfolds better" line of thinking. He was sense oriented, heavy on the olfactory. If things don't pass your sniff test in terms of is this a good fit or not, pass. If you "get" instinctively that the situation on your immediate horizon works, go for it.

Second on Sedna's list after securing mundane elements, is remembering one's major life quest. What was the reason for this incarnation? Not sure? Well, consider this: if you were forced to reincarnate again next week, what life tools would you absolutely want to have that you now know and what would be your major campaign? Sometimes, if one's immediate, ego-based sense of progress in life can be set aside for just an instant or two, large, long-term agendas can reappear out of what seems to be unending space. Again, Asbolus helps. When a flash of insight demands your attention, look toward it.

Instinctive issues intact, let's look at a few other gizmos supporting progress in this upcoming Mars madness. Jupiter in Taurus makes a trine to Pluto and to the anti-Pluto, as astronomer Mike Brown likes to call it - actually an alternate Pluto - Orcus. To the Etruscans, Orcus is Pluto and the keeper of oaths. Make a promise and follow through and Orcus smiles upon you.

At the start of Mars retrograde, Jupiter logs in at 1 Taurus 49, trine to Orcus at 3 Virgo 35 and also trine to Pluto at 8 Capricorn 8. Folks, that's a grand trine in earth. If this pattern matches up with your personal horoscope, the lights are lining up green. But there is an “iff” here. If and only if your goals are set, your aspirations high, your declarations precise and your intent to follow through completely intact. Intent matched with passionate action yields manifestation.

And in the oh, by the way category, Mars stationing at 23 Virgo 05 is one degree away from a trine to Sedna in Taurus, who is less than one degree away from having the partile conjunction company of Asbolus. That's definitely supportive grease to apply to life's sticky wickets.

Jupiter moves into a precise trine with Orcus on February 6th. Now at more than three degrees into Taurus, the ever so dramatic Jove's trine to Pluto, like the plot, has thickened. This is a time in which New Year's resolutions and life long aspirations and the purpose of this lifetime's affirmations receive more celestial consideration than usual. Get on with putting it out there... but only if you mean it every bone of your suddenly not so weary body.

Let's also consider that fantastic point in a retrograde, where the retrograde planet aligns with the Earth and the Sun. For Mars in the upcoming reversal, this occurs on March 3rd. It's a one day only buy into new action sale!

Next in the sequence, Jupiter moves into a trine with Pluto on or about March 12th. Yes, Pluto is involved, but let's keep in mind, that according to mythic tales, Pluto had to comply with the whim and will of Jupiter. With well-applied Jupiterian principles, you know... clear vision, wonderfully grounded aspirations and enthusiasm out the proverbial yin-yang, projects can be blessed by Pluto. Passion, enduring devotion, and monetizing can spin out of this pattern of progress. It should also be noted that at this time, Mars is slightly more than one degree from exact angles with Jupiter and Pluto, completing yet another grand earth trine.

Finally, Mars returns direct in mid April. When he does, guess what? He and Orcus align in Virgo on the opposite side of the chart of Neptune. The vision, inspiration and creativity associated with a well-used Neptune gathers unprecedented momentum and direction through articulation and action. Envision it. Talk it. Walk it.

No doubt Mars in Virgo knots a few things and inspires grumbling. But also know that when the knots appear in a previously created strategy, the unraveling of necessary details is but a short time from appearing.

One final note: SpaceWeather.com is reporting a coronal mass ejection which now heads our way from an eruption that occurred on the 19th. The blast is due to hit Earth on the 21st. Expect the usual mind out of synch with body malaise and a general decay of collective coping skills. Take an extra breath before launching on a Ceres in Aries tirade, and realize everyone will be feeling a little extra edgy.

Recipes from the Dead: Recap from CoasttoCoastam January 14, 2012

Mary Ann Winkowski is one of my favorite guests on the CoasttoCoastam radio show. She is a delightful psychic who gets detailed information about spirits on the other side.

So, here is a recap from Coast to Coast of Mary Ann Winkowski's latest interview with talk show host George Noory:

Recipes from the Dead:
In the first half of the program, ghostbuster Mary Ann Winkowski talked about her cookbook of recipes from the dead, Beyond Delicious: The Ghost Whisperer's Cookbook: More than 100 Recipes from the Dearly Departed

She said spirits began giving her recipes from the other side about 30 years ago, when she was clearing the house of a woman who had been baking a nut roll. According to Winkowski, a ghost in the home told her, "They may smell good, but they are terrible. [The owner] makes a horrible nut roll."

The spirit then offered her own nut roll recipe, Winkowski added. In another case, she recalled a homeowner lamenting that her aunt passed away before sharing a recipe for gum drop cookies. A ghost in that house offered to summon the departed aunt so she could give her living niece the recipe, Winkowski revealed. Male ghosts are even more insistent about passing on their recipes for steak and barbecue, she noted.

Some of these spirits did not cross over because they felt guilty for never properly passing on their recipes, Winkowski continued. Those interested in getting a special recipe from a departed loved one can ask for it the next time they dream about that person, she suggested.

Winkowski also spoke about scary earthbound spirits that can come into homes through energy openings called portals. Unlike ghosts that use the front door to enter a dwelling, spirits that come through portals typically have bad attitudes and cause problems for the residents, she explained. In life they were likely victims of murder or suicide, drug addicts, prisoners, pedophiles, or rapists, she said. The one positive with such spirits is that they can only stay for a day or two, Winkowski noted. She pointed out that portals are actually blown open by the living, and any house were a murder or suicide has taken place probably has one. Winkowski recommended smudging with sage to keep portal spirits at bay.

General Tendencies for All Signs

Happy New Year, all. It looks like 2012 will actually start with a happy note. A stellar symphony between Saturn, Neptune, and Jupiter will be playing throughout most of January. Mars will turn retrograde on the Chinese New Year, January 23rd, and this may bring a readiness to slow down and "hibernate" as the month ends.

People may be a bit touchy on New Year's Day, but the rest of the week looks like smooth sailing. Mercury will be teaming up with Saturn, Neptune, and Jupiter as we approach the weekend of January 6th. The Moon will join in on Saturday, January 7th, and it will be a great time for creative projects and business. Many of us will want to focus that energy into our homes, with the Cancer Full Moon late Sunday night/early Monday morning.

The week of January 9th will begin with the Cancer full moon, and many will be acting on their feelings on Monday. As the week progresses, we should find our energy, our enthusiasm, and our creativity will be increasing with all the inner planets in positive places. Love, sex, harmony, and self-expression will be the tone from Wednesday, January 11th, through Sunday, January 15th.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 16th, will be pleasant, but tensions could start building as early as Tuesday evening, January 17th, with the Sun, Saturn, and Jupiter approaching one hell of a battle. This could decrease one's luck, one's energy, and one's outlook. There could be a few perks over the weekend of January 20th, but don't take any chances before Monday, January 23rd, the Chinese New Year.

Mars will begin his retrograde on the Chinese New Year, so our energy will probably still be low when we begin the week of January 23rd. As we approach the end of the week by Thursday, January 26th, our moods may become a bit more depressed as Mercury follows up behind the Sun in the Jupiter-Saturn battle. But, we should see that our moods have improved by Sunday, January 29th, as the planetary tensions ease up.

There may be some relationship or money upsets as January ends with Venus and Mars coming to a standoff on February 1st. Lovers, watch out for problems on Valentine's day with upsets between Venus and Pluto. Check back next month to find out more.

Note on Saturn-Neptune-Jupiter Aspect this Month. Outer planets are slow and their aspects often affect us more on a subconscious level or as a community. Saturn and Neptune will be trine all of January and February, but Jupiter will only join them for a few weeks. This aspect should bring a tone of optimism, dedication, and spirituality to our day to day lives through January 20th. Many of us may just succeed with our New Year's resolutions this year! Lets do the best we can while the stars are good. As 2012 develops, things are likely to become a lot tougher.

Winter Solstice and Ceremony 2011

December 21, 2011 at 9:30 pm, PST, marks the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere with a most long dark night. Winter Solstices are a time of deep and profound reflection.

Darkness Construed as Evil
There's a different emphasis now at the December solstice with the Goddess of Love being the vanguard of the matriarch civilization from the last few thousand years. During the patriarch period, Darkness was often construed as Evil with Light being viewed as Good. Way too often, men were seen as white and light, and women were viewed as dark and negative.

Winter Solstice Ceremonies
At the Winter Solstice, great ceremonies were enacted with participants wearing black cloaks covering white gowns. The participants would come face to face with the harm they had caused to others since the June Summer Solstice and write down on paper their wrongdoings. Then most dramatically and with full flair, they would cast their papers smeared with their evil deeds into the fire, cleansing their souls.

Asking Forgiveness
Then they would ask for forgiveness for their transgressions. When given by whoever was the officiating authority, they would drop their dark robes, letting their white gowns glimmer as they danced and swayed around the fire.

Underlying Goodness
The white gowns symbolized their underlying goodness. They would dance until the Sun would begin to appear, making sure they had rid themselves of all evil actions. Then they would walk toward the Sun, the light, with great aspirations of goodness filling themselves before they went home.

Beauty in Both Dark and the Light
The Goddess of Love says there is beauty and goodness in both the dark and the light, as well as harmful extremes of both. If you want to connect with the positive aspects of both, you'll want to awaken your consciousness.

What did You Do That Was Loving?
Instead of looking for everything you did wrong and bad, you want to put your attention on what you did right, what you did that was loving and caring. Automatically, this will bring into your consciousness all that you did that was not loving anyway; just don't stop there and dwell. Keep on going until you find those loving actions, no matter how small the emerging sprouts.

Natural To Begin With The Outside
It's natural that you'll start with the outside, with other people. That's just fine, make that list first if that's where you feel most comfortable. It's quite a shift to move more into your inner realms which is your own darkness and really can only be accessed by feelings and your intuition.

Light Accessed Through Outer Senses
The light was the outer, what you could access through your outer senses. The way you became aware of your own inner depths was by discovering it in others, both positively and negatively.

Quantum Jump in Evolution
Evolution wise, you're making a quantum jump now by peering into your inner realms without holding someone else up as a mirror to show you yourself.
The real list that eventually you want to make this astrological year though is what you did that showed you really cared for yourself. The love inside of you will only open when it trusts you'll care consistently for yourself, and not be a needy person begging for it from others.

You're Unique
Your present journey is to find and radiate the love hidden deep with you. That's actually your service to others, shining your own light, no matter how different you might be from others. You weren't born to be exactly like everyone else, you have a uniqueness that's all your own to radiate and contribute to the whole.

Dare You Discover You?
Do you dare discover your own light and then show it? Your uniqueness is not bad, it's love. Anything other than love is not it; just a detour to keep you from your own specialness. Get back on the road to love, you'll find it.

Your Contribution to the Oneness
That's why caring for yourself is so important, it's really the key that unlocks your own unique flavor of love. Don't settle for anything else, and once you embrace it, you'll want to express it through your actions. That's when your true destiny begins to unfold, leading you to your place, your contribution to the whole, to the oneness.

Matriarch Winter Solstice Ceremony
Instead of being outside with a fire burning, go inside in a comfy home setting and gather around a fireplace.

1. Wear a black robe or dark clothing that's sensual to the touch like a black silk robe.

2. Have with you a gorgeous pen and lovely paper, ready poised to be your assistants in some deep Winter Solstice reflection.

3. As the sun goes down, draw a line down the center of the page, and put on one side, OTHERS and one side YOU.

4. Then begin to write down all the good, the loving and the caring actions that you've been doing for the last six months, since the Summer Solstice. Whose side does the action go on, Others or You?

5. Remember when a harmful transgression comes up, don't write it down, but pause and be compassionate and heartfelt for your learning curve.

6. Once you've exhausted your list relating to others, take more time for you. Ask yourself, what percentage of your time could you honestly say you are caring to and for yourself?

7. How far have you come since the Summer Solstice in caring for yourself, again think in percentages?

8. Now ask yourself, have you as yet connected with your own gorgeous uniqueness, or is it still hiding inside of you? Think in percentages.

More Winter Ahead
Know you still have some dark time, some winter ahead. You can delve more into your inner realms, through caring for yourself. It's caring that will unfold your love which holds the chalice of your destiny, your rarity that is a piece of the puzzle of the whole, the oneness.

Vow to become and express the rare but exquisite gem that you are during the winter months ahead. The March Equinox is the beginning of a new astrological year, and there will be a new theme, a new way to fully actualize the Love that you are inside.

Cosmic Blip - Sky Matters by Astrologer Philip Sedgwick

There's a small slew of astronomical news making Internet news pages.

First, astronomers searching for new planets - extrasolar planets, or those orbit stars other than our own - have recently discovered a planet they believe will be habitable as defined by human life needs. Kepler 22b, as the planet is known, corresponds to 7 Aquarius 40. Migration to this planet is not likely during this lifetime, so it may not serve as a safety net in case humankind does not sufficiently evolve. As far as I know, though, you might be able to incarnate on this planet in a future incarnation.

Given that we now know of nearly 600 planets around other stars other than our own, and that we believe there to be more than 70 sextillion stars out there, this news is particularly not sky-shattering.

Astronomers have reported three "new" super-massive black hole discoveries. One of these for all intents and purposes is the Super-Galactic Center (please visit the article on my website using the Galactic Anomalies link), which has been part of my data for years, and another new one also lies within the nucleus of our super-galaxy (thirty plus galaxies of which ours is one with a common nucleus). For this latest early Libran black hole, I do not yet have an interpretive fix. However, there are numerous black holes in the range of early Libra, serving as companions to this new addition. Add to the complex another super-massive black hole and the urging of this region to restore the most clear essence of direct, hands on, one to one relationship peals just a bit louder.

As well, for the third of these black holes, NGC 3842, located at 18 Virgo 12, I am just starting to conduct initial research and do not yet have a delineation to match.

NGC 3842 offers all of us a chance to discover a new model of evolution over the next months should one attend to Mars. The feisty planet crosses this black hole three times: December 24, February 20 by retrograde, and June 8th, just days after an amazing alignment of Venus to the Sun. This black hole, weighing in at 9.7 billion times the weight of the Sun, now tops the most massive list and as such, should wield enormously powerful influence when transited. Mark your calendar for those days. Around those days say plus or minus two weeks, changes in basic behavior, daily drill and the dutiful response to it, how tasks are managed in life, matters of personal well-being and one’s threshold of tolerance will likely be pushed for major upgrades. Sounds exciting and noteworthy. Look for ways to warp - in a good way - consciousness about life and it’s primal necessities.

Within the new twenty-four hours we shall experience a total lunar eclipse across the Gemini-Sagittarius axis. In lunar eclipse geometry the earth passes between the Sun and Moon, blocking solar light from reaching the moon. Symbolically, pesky earthly matters - like mundane details, tasks at hand, projects on various burners, and addressing important real life issues that may have been put off and that stirring one’s psyche on the emotional front, or seeking a place in conscious attention, simply won’t wait any more.

Figure that for the next two weeks concentrated effort must be applied to things on the “get to later” or “when I can” lists. There’s no time like now and two weeks from now might be a bit late for effective resolution of pressing priorities. Psychologically, it becomes a conversation between what one thinks and one knows. It’s a bit like looking for the magic of memorization to kick in. If one keeps repeating the irrational number for pi out to thirty decimal places, soon calling pi 3.1416 will no longer be satisfying. As well, the turmoil is the sense that tasks that are not the most appealing will not be content with being pushed on the schedule as a regular practice.

Consider other patterns occurring during the eclipse. For one, action-figure, Mars, dressed up in his most impeccable super hero costume for perfect holiday present giving (it is in Virgo) forms a testy pattern with the “what’s the meaning of life” and “what the hell and I’m doing with my life anyway” lunar node axis. For another, Mercury, retrograde in Sagittarius and ruling the sign through which the Moon travels during the eclipse, calls out a challenge to Orcus, an underworld landlord, who is more than happy to boot people if they violate TOS (terms of service). Mess with TOS and get tossed. Actually Orcus likes promises uttered that a person intends to keep - a task that suits Mercury. Mars likes action and getting to it, as does the emotional impetus of the eclipse. With the push Mars puts on the purpose first, no laurel resting permitted vibe of the nodal axis, it looks like a time for say and do.

Astrologers often caution against new action during Mercury retrograde. Mercury goes direct in about four days, but that’s after the eclipse. How about this? Use the next day to affirm what you’d like to accomplish next year. Yep, declare your Gregorian New Year resolutions early. While you’re at it, add anything of the resolutions for 2011 that remain incomplete. Then, on the 24th when Mars aligns with this new, hugely intense black hole, get on with it. Do at least one task on December 24th to inch forward each and every aspiration to complete 2011's tasks and establish a perfectly transformational personal agenda for 2012. Not only that, as Mars goes a’caroling past the zodiac porch of NGC 3842 on Christmas Eve, he will be at an exact right angle to the point where tomorrow’s eclipse occurs. At that time all that charge coming to light (or in the Earth’s shadow) during the eclipse gets perfect poke in the patootie. It’s almost like listening to Santa cheer on his reindeer for their annual task that simply boggles the mind in terms of importance, logistics and cost - you know the things people often use as excuses.

Here’s to the eclipse and the nod it gives you to ensure that at the end of the day on Christmas Eve, it is a satisfying, accomplished sip of nog or grog that honors the wisdom of experience gained by those who engage these patterns.

Astrology Forecast for December 2011

December will begin with eclipse energy vibrating and three planets in retrograde, including Mercury. But, by the time this month ends and 2012 begins, all planets will be moving forward and life will be approaching normalcy. Luckily, the eclipses will be over and Mercury will turn direct before the holidays. Family gatherings and holiday travel should go much better than years past.

People may be rather pushy as December begins with Venus and Pluto going insane, and the Sun and Mars battling. Then, as their energy begins to slow down, Mercury, Venus, and Mars will begin another drama for the weekend of December 3rd. Don't force any issues, and postpone any major decisions until the Moon enters Taurus on Tuesday morning, December 6th.

We may start feeling the eclipse energy on December 6th (even earlier for Cardinal signs - Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn). We have a full moon total lunar eclipse on Saturday, December 10th, and Uranus, the shocking planet, will also be turning direct (at direct station) on the same day.

Lunar eclipses are considered to be about 10 times more powerful than a typical full moon, and total eclipses are stronger than partial or penumbral eclipses. Eclipses bring changes, and Uranus is the ruler of sudden unexpected changes. And, to top it off, the eclipse will be in the changeable sign of Gemini. Use caution driving this week, because there will be accidents. Some drivers may suddenly change directions, and some people may suddenly change their minds. Try to stay flexible, and by all means go with the flow. Any resistance to change could be met with the universe crashing down on you.

We will probably breathe a sigh of relief on Sunday morning, December 11th, after the Moon goes void of course and enters Cancer a few hours later. The only non-lunar planetary activity we have going on for the week of December 11th is Mercury turning direct (at direct station) on Tuesday, December 13th. We should find that Mercury's direct station will not bring too many upsets. There may be a few travel delays or computer problems, but nothing major (like the stock market taking a dip). In fact the rest of the week should be rather uneventful.

There could be some money problems or relationship issues for the weekend of December 17th, because Venus will be arguing with Saturn. But, things should begin to improve on Monday, December 19th. The Sun, Saturn, Neptune, and Jupiter will be joining hands to bring holiday cheer, compassion, and generosity from December 19th through the Winter Solstice, on December 22nd.

Some could be overly sensitive on December 20th with Venus arguing with Jupiter, and others could be making mistakes on December 22nd with the Sun squaring off with Uranus. But, all in all the week before Christmas should be very productive.

Our final retrograde planet, Jupiter, will turn direct on Christmas Day, December 25th. Sagittarians will be feeling a new sense of worth and direction, and most of us will notice a renewed sense of optimism entering our life. We may even feel a strong need for independence on Wednesday and Thursday, December 28th and 29th, as Pluto moves behind the Sun. People could be touchy on New Year's Eve with Mercury and Mars going to war that night. Watch out for arguments.

Things will be business as usual as January 2012 begins, but our energy (and our sex drives) may slow down with Mars turning retrograde on the Chinese New Year (dragon), January 23rd. Check back next month to find out more.

Venus Goes Dancing With the Stars (well, pulsars actually).

It seems appropriate to make a notation of the current transit of Venus just now in Capricorn, square Uranus and heading to conjoin Pluto within the week. After the rash of anything but festive behavior in this country as shoppers clamored for the best deals on holiday gifts at discount department store chains, it's time to reframe a usage for this transit. Evidently something got missed in the good will toward men (all creatures) in the traditional holiday song stanzas.

This Galactic Times revision plan was prompted when looking through heliocentric patterns and realizing that on January 1st the heliocentric position of Pluto is exactly square the helio nodes of Eris. Oh my gosh, what a great start for a year that promises to shift consciousness regardless of when one believes the Mayan Calendar ends and what that means!

So, with this current passage of Venus in early Capricorn there's more to it than the planetary patterns. During this little sashay of hers, Venus saunters by a collection of x-ray eclipsing binary pulsars, including the pulsar with the fastest spin known in modern astrophysics. This spin and the "remember to look extra deeply into both sides of the coin" recommendation of these pulsars permits manifesting work in nearly superhuman time and with unexpected creativity. Given Venus is onboard with the pulsar passages it just might be possible to monetize projects behind which one holds an intensely passionate creative momentum. "Why delay," asks these pulsars. "Get going while the gettin's good."

Oh yeah, Mercury's retrograde. "Big dang deal," the pulsars counter. Polish your pitch and give it the best go in this remarkably open window. Assuming that those who don't shop at that one infamous chain department store, maybe the building holiday atmosphere might soften the typical hard line one might hear in response to asking for bucks to do something phenomenal.

Though Mercury is retrograde, the conjunction of Mercury to the Earth and Sun eight days from today allows for dotting the t's and crossing the i's on any contract. Get your golden ideas on and go for it. The time for grinding to get to the getting and the getting is good.

Feeding Chicken Poo to Koi?

I stumbled across this possibility on a number of sites that I was searching Chicken/Greenhouse combination. As of Nov. 1, 2011, it is legal to have up to three hens (no roosters) in our backyards in Sacramento city.

My web search led to resources about chicken/greenhouse/pond and I was surprised to find info about feeding chicken poop to fish on different permaculture sites.

No photos, but one person described that he had a plank above his pond for his chickens to hang out. The chicken poop drops effortlessly into the pond. Fish get fed (is this nutritious enough?) and the "leftovers" feed the pond plants. He also mentions good aeration and oxygen are necessary because of the nitrogen spikes from the poop. That makes sense, but what about if it's an "unnatural" pond with a plastic liner?

Sounds interesting... Some commericial koi growers import barrels of chicken poop to feed their fish.

So I'm thinking...

I have an east-facing sun room where my 3 chicks (egads, one is a rooster) are being raised; a 1000 gallon koi pond adjacent. Does anyone have any experience with any combination of chicken poo/fish pond/greenhouse permaculture?

It's been an hour and I still haven't recovered from the grossness factor of giving my chicks' poo to my pet koi but I'll get over it if it works and my fish maintain good health. Wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge about this?

Uranian Astrology Forecast for Nov. 14-30, 2011

On November 10th there wwas a full Moon at 18º Scorpio Taurus 05 semi-squaring the midpoint of Pluto and Uranus/0 Cardinal, and a 22 ½ to the Venus Mercury conjunction. The focus was on the world economy, especially the problems in Greece, as Hades was midpoint the full Moon and the cardinal axis, and Saturn was 22 ½ to Uranus. This indicates that their backs were against the wall. Lies will begin to filter out of the back rooms and boardrooms as devious Neptune stations to go direct. The cat escapes the bag! Then comes November 14th when Saturn will reach the 22 ½ to Hades, and we may find out who is to be blamed for the damages caused. Danger exists for someone to get shot over this.

We now move on to November 17th, when Hades will be at the midpoint of the Saturn/Uranus axis. This brings losses due to violence. Separations due to violence or nasty occurrences, like escalations of demonstrators, as Mars + Hades = Mercury/Jupiter. Mars/Hades can be murder, and other nasty events, Jupiter/Mercury can indicate many marching or traveling, or taking to the pulpit, with Mars involved inciting the masses. To round out these transits, the Sun/Saturn = 0 Cardinal/Venus, bringing personal financial difficulties to the masses as the holiday season approaches.

Next we turn the page to November 24th - on Thanksgiving Mercury goes retrograde, beginning at 20º Sagittarius 07. Black Friday follows, Friday the 25th, the biggest shopping day of the season, plus the last solar eclipse of the 2011. What a combination! The cardinal axis will be midpoint Uranus and the Mars axis. Many stores will open at midnight as this combo will be in full swing, I do not recommend people subject themselves to the dangers lurking with this planetary picture. In fact, I recommend that people stay home Thanksgiving weekend. For those who have to travel home on Sunday the 27th, drive very carefully as Mars starts off 22 ½ to the midpoint of Uranus and the cardinal axis and then moves to 22 ½ to Uranus and moves a 22 ½ to Uranus and Hades then it moves to Hades. These aspects can bring the possibilities of accidents, thefts and violence, so proceed with caution. Mars shouldn't cause any further trouble after it passes 10º Sagittarius 30 on December 3rd.

Mercury goes direct on December 14th, so wait until after that date to purchase your electronic gifts. For those who intend to fly, consider staying home and have your Thanksgiving dinner with your friends or neighbors, and wait until Christmas to do your long distance travel. By then Mercury, Uranus and Jupiter will be direct and we will be past the Capricorn ingress and the lunar eclipse as well.

General Tendencies for All Sun Signs

The big news this month is Mercury turning retrograde on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, and a New Moon solar eclipse the day after. To say the least, our holiday season should get launched with a bang. For the most part, we have some pretty good days ahead, but that eclipse may "upset the apple cart" for some.

Life could be pleasant, and possibly even a bit exciting the first 3 days of November, with Mercury and Venus traveling together crossing into Sagittarius, while being stimulated by Uranus. It will be a great time for meetings, parties, shopping, and friends. Venus and Mercury will be traveling in a conjunction for the first half of November. This will help to keep attitudes friendly and cooperative.

We may be feeling kind of low on energy for the weekend of November 4th with Mars and Neptune approaching a stand-off. Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 6th, and we will probably really appreciate that extra hour of sleep. Mars and Neptune could generate some confusion just before election day, November 8th. If you have a sudden urge to change your vote... think twice.

Pisces, your ruling planet, Neptune, turns direct on November 9th! You may find life a little difficult for a few days around that time, but your thoughts and your goals should become more focused within a week. Most of us in general should find that the Full Moon on November 10th will help us to re-energize and re-focus our goals. And, I'd like to send a big salute to all our veterans on Veterans Day, November 11th.

Eclipses bring changes, and some of us may notice those changes coming into our lives as early as the week of November 14th. In general the week of November 14th and the week of November 21st will bring progress and transformation with Mars, Pluto, and Jupiter singing in a stellar trio. Almost anything we try to do will succeed, especially from November 13th through the 17th. After that we may decide it's time to clear some of the clutter out of our lives. November 19th through the 24th will be a great time to make changes, and many of us will be ready to get organized.

Mercury will be at his retrograde station (the point where the planet changes direction) on November 24th at 2:19 AM ET. There could be delays for Thanksgiving travelers, and Mercury can upset conversations and internet transmissions. But, Mercury will not be afflicted by any major planets during his station, so there shouldn't be too many upsets. Many of us will take the inconveniences in stride.

Parties for the Thanksgiving holiday and the Islamic New Year (November 26th) could get very exciting, with a New Moon solar eclipse on November 25th. This eclipse will be at a trine (very positive aspect) to Uranus, the planet of the unexpected. Be sure to keep a camera handy this holiday. You may capture the next YouTube hit. In fact the whole weekend of November 26th should bring lively festivities and positive rewards.

After the holiday excitement, the week of November 28th could start a little "blue." We may feel a bit frustrated, and some may overreact as the month of November ends. There could also be relationship problems, and it will not be a good time to push our loved ones with ultimatums.

We will have a total lunar eclipse in December, and Mercury and Jupiter will both be turning direct for the holidays. Check back next month to find out more.

Two Eclipses are Nested in a Mercury Retrograde during Fall 2011

Wow! Mercury's retrograde will begin on Thanksgiving Day (USA), November 24th, and the next day, November 25th, we will experience a New Moon solar eclipse.

A second eclipse, Full Moon lunar eclipse, will occur again on December 10th, and Mercury will turn direct on December 13th. This will not be a typical Mercury retrograde, for sure!

When a planet is in retrograde, it appears to be moving backward against the background of the universe. Planets do not actually reverse directions, they just appear that way, because we are not at the center of the solar system. Mercury will be passing us on our solar racetrack, so his gravitational pull and his influence will be much more prominent in our lives.

Eclipses bring changes, good and bad. Most people are resistant to change, and that's why they have such a negative reputation. An eclipse is considered to be 10 times more powerful than a typical full or new moon. Also, eclipses usually come in pairs, one on the New Moon and one on the Full Moon. Occasionally, we will get three in a row, and they usually occur twice a year.

Mercury will be doing his retrograde in the sign of Sagittarius this time, and the eclipses will be bouncing between Sagittarius and Gemini. Sagittarius, I do not envy you! There could be big changes coming for Sagittarius and Gemini in November and December, and Sag, you may find things from your past coming back up to be dealt with.

Sagittarius is the wanderer, the optimist, and the ruler of higher education. Mercury's retrograde in Sagittarius may stimulate us to visit places from our past, or we may receive some special visitors that we haven't seen in a very long time. This Mercury retrograde will also be an excellent time to go back and brush up on something we learned in the past, or even make the decision to go back to school and expand the education we already have.

Mercury's retrograde often brings up the past, and Mercury's retrograde will be affecting all of us in some way. The houses in our natal charts that Mercury will be crossing will determine what areas of our lives Mercury will affect. An example would be, Mercury's retrograde traveling through your 8th house could bring money from past (and possibly forgotten) loans. Or, Mercury's retrograde in your 5th house of romance could bring a past lover back into your life. Mercury's retrograde with travel from 20 degrees 7 minutes through 3 degrees 51 minutes, Sagittarius.

We often begin to notice eclipse energy up to a couple of weeks before, and even a week after, the actual event. With the Gemini and Sagittarius influence, the eclipses could affect our relationships. These two signs are dynamic, and they will not waste time and energy on a relationship that is not good for them. Geminis and Sagittarians are also known to tease or become rather loud, so there is also a potential for arguments and confrontations. Again, the houses, in our natal charts that the eclipses land in, will determine what area of our life will be affected.

The eclipse on November 25th will be a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 2 degrees 38 minutes Sagittarius. It will be a partial eclipse and will be visible from the southern most land masses on our planet, including Antarctica. Partial eclipses are not considered as powerful as total eclipses, but this eclipse will be at a very positive aspect to Uranus, the planet of originality. Uranus brings the unexpected. He also will be sitting on the cusp between Pisces and Aries, so he will be even more unpredictable. Uranus will energize our moods, and it will be a great time for a party. Thanksgiving festivities will be lively. Be sure to have the camera ready, because there will be some unforgettable moments.

The eclipse on December 10th will be a Full Moon Lunar eclipse at 18 degrees 8 minutes Gemini. This eclipse will be a total eclipse and will be visible in Asia, Australia, and Alaska. It will also be visible at moon rise or moon set in Europe, Africa, and North America. Because it will be total eclipse, this will be a powerful Full Moon. But, there won't be any major planets aiding or agitating it, so it will be a total Gemini Moon influence. Geminis love intelligent conversations, games and competitions, traveling about, and two of everything. It will be a great weekend for short trips, sporting events, and even holiday parties. Guard against trying to do too much and getting scattered.

Mercury will turn direct on December 13th, and it should be December as usual after that. Don't fret if you're not done with your holiday shopping. There will be some great bargains to be found after Mercury turns direct.

Clairvoyant Forecast: October 2011 - Letting Go and Starting Over

August and September have been very intense months to say the least.

August was a month of letting go of things within ourselves, letting go of blocks and obstacles that were holding us back. Many of us went through a dark night of the soul, being broken down to our very essence so we could be rebuilt better and stronger than before.

September was a month of letting go of relationships that no longer serve us. There was a letting go of people who were holding us back, people who are on a different path, going in a different direction. We saw friendships end, marriages disintegrate, business partnerships destroyed. There has been a breaking down to make way for the new.

During September we also saw the beginning of the American people standing up and saying 'Enough' with the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement. Our young people are camped out in New York and other cities in an effort to reclaim their future which has been stolen from them. I am very excited to see this, and expect this movement to continue to grow.

As we move into October, there is a feeling of expansiveness. We are ready to move forward with our lives and make the changes we have been avoiding. There is a new sense of freedom and optimism.

It is very important to remember that the people who have left our lives weren't beneficial to us, or they would still be here. It is becoming even more important that we be with people of like vibration at this time. Those who have left our lives have chosen not to make the leap with us at this time. That is their choice and they will be given another opportunity, but we must continue to forge ahead into the higher vibrations. We cannot stop and wait for them to catch up.

It is very important at this time in our evolution that we learn to Trust the Creator to provide for our needs. This is a lesson we have been learning for several years, but it is time to truly 'get it'. We must know that everything we need is right here waiting for us to reach out for it. This is an important month for putting the Law of Attraction to work in our life and creating the reality we want.

October will be another month of increasing vibrations. The intense Solar Flares we have been experiencing are forcing our vibrations, and the vibrations of the Earth, ever higher. Those of us who already have a higher vibration, will be raised even higher. Those of lower vibrations will barely notice the change.

Our world is changing, and will never be the same again. The 'Powers That Be' are realizing that they are losing the fight, but they are not ready to give up yet. We are succeeding in creating the New World we have all dreamed of, but there is a long way to go yet. Don't allow yourself to become discouraged.

As your life falls into even more chaos, realize that it is leading us in a positive direction. Breathe through the changes and allow the birthing process to take it's natural course.

General Tendencies for All Sun Signs

October is going to be a great month for regeneration and growth! Things may be a bit stressful as the month begins and again as it ends, but for the most part it will be a time for relationships and beautiful things under the influence of the Libra Sun.

We may find ourselves feeling overwhelmed the first 3 days of this month. A battle between Mars and Jupiter could be encouraging us to run away from our problems. It would be a great time to schedule a long weekend getaway. Our perspective and our rationality should return by Wednesday, October 5th, and the days leading up to Yom Kippur (October 8th) will encourage our patience and creativity. There could even be some romance in the air.

Intuitions will be strong for the weekend of October 8th, and we may find ourselves drawn to artistic projects. The days approaching the Aries Full Moon on Tuesday, October 11th, could bring new energy and spirituality to light. In fact, that innovative energy could continue through the first day of Sukkot, October 13th. Some ideas will be unrealistic on Friday, October 14th, but our energy and enthusiasm will return for the weekend.

We may be feeling scattered, and everybody may want our attention on Monday, October 17th, but the rest of the week looks grand. Friendship and maybe even romance will be top on our lists on Thursday and Friday, October 20th and 21st, with the Sun and Neptune dancing together. The Sun will enter Scorpio on Sunday, October 23, and we may notice a shift in our priorities from our needs to the needs of others.

Work and business should flow smoothly as the week of October 24th begins. We may just amaze ourselves with how much we accomplish. Mars and Saturn will be sending us serious energy, and Jupiter and Pluto will be encouraging growth. Personal issues could upset that energy on the Scorpio New Moon, Wednesday, October 26th, and people could be touchy or excessive on Friday, October 28th.

Our optimism will return for the weekend of October 29th, and many will be ready to socialize on Halloween. The Halloween parties may go to extremes this year. If you are out, be sure to use extra caution driving.

Mercury will turn retrograde once again in November (on Thanksgiving Day), and we will have a solar eclipse the next day. Check back next month for all the exciting details.

Numerology and The Shift since Year 2000

Since the onset of the year 2000, the energy of the planet changed and with it, people have changed. No longer satisfied with conventional religion, people are becoming more open to spiritual ideas and philosophy or looking for alternative belief systems. The decline in organized religion is statistically proven and well documented.

Television and media, in the past, was not supportive of spiritual philosophy or anything connected to it. Nowadays, a quick glance of current television programming and you see shows that explore subjects that would have never been previously considered. There is no shortage of books, radio shows and websites that fully support a spiritual awakening taking place and a majority of them were created after the year 2000.

The New Age movement is even in full force even in the medical fields where scientists are discovering the healing powers of the human body. Holistic healing is becoming more acceptable and I have no doubt, it will become routine eventually.

You may have heard the term "The Shift" and understand it to be a new wave of human consciousness, and I can assure you that the 2 which began its reign in the Year 2000 has everything to do with it. We have moved into a different kind of energy when we celebrated the New Year January 1st, the year 2000. When this energy is present, you have two options; you either evolve with it or fight against it. If you choose to go against it, you will not flourish, in fact, you could potentially be destroyed by it.

Looking back, the reign of the 1900s brought with it a Karmic meaning. The number 19 in Numerology is translated to mean "improper use of power". It was a time focused upon money, power and greed. It was a time of wars, dictatorships, and fortunes amassed through industry. The 1900s were strongly influenced by the 1 which is very ambitious, aggressive and has a strong desire for money, power and success. The 1 is not concerned about the good of all but rather is focused upon the individual and looking out for its own best interests. You can see much of that transpiring in the 1900s.

Enter the 2 energy of the 2000s and the focus and ultimate goal of the 2 is upon peacefulness. It is a very spiritual vibration that promotes love and cooperation. Many people have experienced an awakening to this new vibration which can explain the desire to connect on a deeper basis to their spiritual roots. The energy has changed and it no longer supports the individual. It demands we work for what is the greatest good for all. We already are beginning to see dictatorships fail as well as the destruction of governments that were no longer supportive of the people. They simply can not thrive under the requirements of the 2.

The "Shift" is occurring and it began in the Year 2000. One can not be alive on this planet and not acknowledge that we are in unprecedented times. So many things are occurring in so many areas of our lives that it almost feels surrealistic. Our government is not working. Our economy is failing. Our way of life is not the same and things will continue to evolve until we are in perfect harmony with the number 2. There can be no other way. We must go through the changes. Power will change hands. Institutions motivated by greed will fail. Only what is in alignment with the peaceful, fair, harmonious, cooperative, loving, balanced energy of the 2 will survive.

As we approach 2012 which will be a year of even greater changes, understanding the meaning and purpose of the "Shift" helps us to move forward without fear. Knowing that ultimately, it will bring about positive changes for all of humanity should bring about a sense of peacefulness and after all, isn't that what the 2 is all about?
