Last year my husband and I spent vacation at Tulsa Zoo. There we saw a lot of animals that I have never seen when I was young. One of the animals they got was big turtle and I didn't know the name until I do my research today. The Galapagos tortoise is what I seen. They are really big and modest animals, as matter of fact I petted them when I saw them. This species live of all vertebrates averaging over 100 years. The oldest on record lived to be 152 years. Wow, I wish people live that long too. Galapagos tortoises are the world's largest tortoises with some specimens exceeding 5 feet in length and reaching 550 pounds.

The Tortoise played an important role in the Theory of Evolution. The islands common name is Spanish for saddle, referring to the shape of the Galapagos tortoise shell. When Charles Darwin, visited the Galapagos Islands, the vice-governor of the Island told him that he could identify what island the tortoise was from simply by looking at him. The different shapes of the giant tortoises on the various Galapagos islands was one of the findings that led Charles Darwin to develop the theory of evolution through natural selection. The theory is that some of the tortoises were probably taken by whaling ship that sailed from Floreana via the relatively remote Volcano Wolf in rout to multi-year cruises in the pacific looking for sperm whales. What is Galapagos Penguin?

This species have the smallest breeding range and population size of any penguin, with less than a thousand breeding pairs. We always hear about drug addictions. People talk about meth, cocaine, marijuana, and many others, but in my opinion the most abused drug is one that we often ignore; alcohol. Why do we tend to accept alcohol and keep it legal while other drugs are illegal? I think the answer is that alcohol is so widely abused that it pertains in some way to nearly all of us, including our law makers and enforcers. Probably a good many of our politicians could use a good addiction treatment program to help them get their lives back together. Hmmm I wonder if that could be what's wrong with our government? It sometimes seems that something must be clouding their collective minds.

Alcohol is a dangerous drug that in my opinion should be just as illegal as other harmful, addictive drugs. I know too many people personally that are addicted and ruining their lives. Too many families have suffered or been broken by it; too many lives have been lost due to drunken drivers. Alcohol is so hard to quit that often a person may have to check into a drug rehab center to help them kick the habit. Our society has so many quirks; often dangerous or addictive things are simply accepted, but we may have groups fighting against other things that are comparatively harmless. Go figure, but this is America, and so far at least we have the freedom to say what we think.

Guinea Fowl is a beautiful creatures. It is native to Africa. This beautiful birds have a wattle on each side of their beak and a horny "helmet" on top of their brightly colored head. They have a bead-like design on their feathers which consists of tiny white dots on dark background. As my husband told it is a good bird because they ticks and other insects. There are many more color og guinea, there is lavender, coral blue,powder blue, bronze, copper, blonde, Pearl gray, violet and more. There are four species of guinea fowl, they are mainly confined to Africa south of the Sahara, although a population of Helmeted Guinea fowl is found north of the Sahara Desert in Morocco. The behavior of this species are, they are capable of flight, and they forage and nest on the ground. It is a noisy and gregarious birds, but they are often inconspicuous when feeding among trees and scrub. Guinea fowl eat bulbs, tubers, berries, vegetable, fruits, snails and insects. The size of these species is approximately 42, 5-47.5 cm or 17-19 inches long. The weight is up to 1.8 kg to 4 lbs.The body is fairly long, well round, deep and solid. The calls made by adult guinea are very useful in indentifying the sexes. The males utter a one-syllable call, usually repeated several times in succession: chit, chit chit. The females utter a two-syllable call, usually repeated several times in succession "buck-wheat, buck-wheat, buck -wheat, buck-wheat". The fowl chick is properly referred to a as a keet.

There are many species under Hawk family. One of the species name is Ferruginous hank. Some people says that hawk is a bird of prey. I believe what people say because I saw hawk carrying grown chicken when I was young. The hawk are masters at soaring for long periods of time. There are twelve species of buteos breed in North America and North of the Mexico border. The ferruginous hawk is the largest buteo in North America averaging 22.5-25" long, and the with a 53-56" wingspan. This bird of prey generally seen in eastern Washington, and is the largest of Washington's hawks.

The Ferruginous hawk has a light and a dark color phase. The head is streaked with light gray. The breast and belly are solid white, contrasting sharply with the Rufus feathering on the legs. Identification of male and female. The male and female have identical markings. The main difference is size, with the female being larger. Perched birds have a white breast and body with dark legs.The back and wings are brownish rush color. The head is white with a dark streak extending behind the eye. The wing tips almost reach the tip of the tail. Ferruginous hawks are the arid and semiarid grassland regions of North America. The countryside is open, level, or rolling prairies, foothills or middle elevation plateaus largely devoid of trees, and cultivated shelterbelts or riparian corridors, shallow canyons, rock outcrops and gullies may characterized some habitats.The behavior of this species are; they are active, with slow wings beats much like that of a small eagle. Soaring with the wings held in a strong dihedral has been noted, as well as gliding with the wings held flat, or in a modified dihedral. They hunts small to medium sized mammals but will also take birds, reptiles, and some insects. The prey of this species are; human, wild cat. sneaks, lions,and more. Remember that these birds search for prey while flying over open country or from a perch. They also wait in ambush outside the prey's burrow.

I went to several Zoo but haven't seen Coke's hartebeest in my life. So here I am sharing and writing what I found during my search.The Coke's hartebeest is also called kongoni. It is found on the open grassy plains and tree grasslands in the Southern Kenya and Tanzania. It is a large, fawn-colored antelope that at first glance seems strangely misshapen and less elegant than other antelopes. These species often mingle with herbs of other antelope or zebras. The height of this species is 4 feet tall at the shoulder, and the back slopes downward from heavy forequarters to narrow hindquarters. The hartebeest is resembles as as hoarse with horns. It has very long face and a small hump between the shoulders, its coat is fawn or reddish and thou ringed horns curve up and inward in a shape. The scientists differ about the classification of the hartebeest. Some consider the group to have several geographic representatives of the same species, while others think it represents different species. Hartebeest are mainly found in the medium and tall grasslands, including savannas. This animals is one the most sedentary antelopes but it does move around more when larger groupings form during the dry seasons or in periods of drought, to seek water and better grazing.

The predators of hartebeest are Cheetahs, jackals, lions, hyenas, hunter dogs, people and leopards. Hartebeest drink water daily, though under drought conditions it can withstand long period without water. I like this animals but I'm also scared about it because of its long horn.

Armeria has 80 species of tufted, hummock, or cushion-forming perennials. It is found spread througthout mountainous areas in Europe, Northern Africa, Turkey and the Pacific coast. This plants is one of the larger clump forming thrifts to 20-30 with spikes of pink flowers and wide, flat grassy leaves. Its name are, alliacea, as in onion or chive with it resembles. It is native to the coast of Spain, Morocco and Algeria. To grow Armeria, plant them in a well-drained soil that has been enriched with organic matter. It prefers a sand based soil, but will perform ideally in well-drained clay. As for pests, it is rarely bothered by pests with aphids and spider mites being the most likely bugs to take up residence among the leaves. New Car

My husband has always been an impulsive shopper. That is why it came as no surprise to me when he drove up the driveway in a new Mustang last night. We had discussed getting a new car, and we both agreed that now that our kids were grown up, we would get some kind of sports car. We had even gone to look at cars the past two weekends, and had narrowed it down to three cars. So my husband took it upon himself to make the decision for us, even though I thought we were going to wait until we had all of our finances in order. I manage the bills for our household, so I had been figuring out ways to save a little money since we would soon have a new car payment. Arisarum has three species

Arisarum is a genus of flowering plants in the Araceae family. There are three species of plants in this genus. They are Arisarum simorrhinum, Arisarum proboscideum, and Arisarum vulgare. Today I share one of the arisarum species name Arisarum vulgare. This plant known as the Friar's Cowl or Larus. This species reaches on average 10-30 centimeters of height. It is a tuberous perennial geophytes with a pulpit-shaped, dark purple-brown flower from which a curved tongue like structure is seen protruding out. This flowering looks beautiful but has strange shape. If you want to plant this flower remember that it prefers a woodland soil or a sandy loam with leaf-mould. If you have seeds. Sow them in early spring and when large enough to handle prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on for at least the first winter in a greenhouse and plant out when dormant in the summer once the tuber has reached a reasonable size.
