It's always nice to start your day with a smile.

Dog shoots Frenchman.

I'm not a legal expert, or human rights expert, but I'm pretty sure developing weapons which will crash into other weapons isn't a fair or legitimate method of fighting an enemy.

Almost a hundred years ago, men were dying valiently in trenches or ditches around Europe, going to exteme lengths to survive and protect their comrades.

Nowadays a soldier is unlikely to even see the face of the man he's about to kill.

War is no longer about honour, it's about who's got the better toys.

The Odyssey - Homer

2012-09-14T08:34:00.003-07:00

Possibly the finest book I've ever read, and I would recommend that anyone with the slightest interest in History, Literature, ancient civilisations or just badass tales should definately read it.

Written in around 800BC (making it the oldest book I've read to date), some of the terms and sayings don't quite make sense anymore (such as references to Battles which had happened hundreds of years earlier), but given that it's almost 3,000 years old it's okay to let that slide.

A nice touch is the constant mention of the Gods, and how basically everything that happened -whether positive or negative- was down to them, such as rumours spreading through villages or cities were incited by the Gods, or boats being driven from their course being the fault of Poseiden.

Given that this book predates the Bible by 800 years, it surprised me how the book actually gives more of an idea on how to live a good life, like how many of the 'good guys' are described, such as "Valiant Odysseus" or "Cowardly Athene"(sic) etc.

Would very much recommend anyone to buy this book, or at least download a copy of it, as it's definately my current favourite book (not said lightly).

The oldest colour footage found to date. 109/110 years old (1901 or 1902, beating Kinemacolour by about 8 years.)

Apparently the guy who filmed it combined green, blue and red colour filters and superimposed the images over one another.

The BBC also says the films were made by a British photographer and inventor called Edward Turner, who patented the idea but died at the age of 29.

Pirate Bay proxy

2012-09-12T07:13:00.002-07:00

It's been a while since my last post, and a fair few things have happened in that time, so I'll just make this a quick one and share a fast and reliable PirateBay proxy for all my British brothers and sisters who're having their rights ignored.

New BF3 DLC (Close Quarters)

2012-04-26T08:57:00.001-07:00

A few of the videos knocking around YouTube at the moment ahead of the June 2012 release of new DLC. Official 'Donya Fortress' Trailer; Official 'Ziba Tower' Trailer; Timelapse of destruction; Looking pretty fucking amazing to be honest. The DLC is called Close Quarters. DICE are also releasing two other expansions, one called Armoured Kill and the other called End Game. It's suspected that the last release will be End Game in reference to the fact that it will be the final expansion for BF3, due to EA's new Medal of Honour Warfighter (which will also be using DICE's Frostbite 2 system)

Last post for today...

Absolutely brilliant episode, and it's good to see the writers are back on form (even though it's basically the end of the series).

It seems as though FOX are on a massive purge of the Putlocker/Sockshare versions of their episodes, and it also seems to have started with the Family Guy and American Dad episodes.

Online cliques, keyboard critics and egotism

2012-01-19T02:12:00.000-08:00

This is a subject that has been bothering me for years. Anyone who uses Youtube and reads the comments will know what I'm talking about here, it's the utterly idiotic and unintelligent comments such as "*insert band/group name here* have changed" or "I liked them when they were *insert niche production technique here*".

The main reason I've gone to the effort of making a blog post about this is mainly down to Justice's new album, Audio, Video, Disco, which I consider to be one of the finest Electronic albums to be released since the start of the century.

I've been listening to Justice since around 2006. Not knowingly, just through mixes and at clubs/events. I didn't knowingly start listening to them until early 2008 when their album 'Cross' was released. I'm deeply in love with their style of experimentation and production.

But it's things like this that make me insanely angry...

I wish people would stop saying "Justice have changed" to make themselves seem like über fans. These fags have probably only been listening to them since DJ Hero, yet tell their friends "oh, I liked Justice before they were famous".

Fuck you. It's their second fucking album. They haven't changed, they're finding their sound. You wouldn't listen to Please Please Me by The Beatles in 1963, then in 1964 say "oh, The Beatles have changed, I liked them when blah blah blah"

Grow the fuck up and stop pretending to be some musical critic, just listen to the fucking song. If you like it, buy the album, if you don't like it, find something else to listen to, because chances are, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay don't give a fuck.

In my eyes, Justice are as amazing now as they were when they released 'Cross', and if you don't feel the same, don't listen to them.

More importantly, if you're too lazy to type more than 6 words in critisism, then you shouldn't be allowed near a computer. At least try to explain your point rather than "hmmm, I don't like this, LOL".
