Crispy Roasted Potatoes - Recipe

Here’s a super simple and delicious crispy roasted potatoes recipe

Ingredients:

• 3–4 medium potatoes (any kind)

• 2 tbsp olive oil• 1 tsp salt• ½ tsp black pepper

• ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)• ½ tsp paprika (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

2. Wash and cut potatoes into small cubes or wedges.

3. Toss potatoes in a bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings.

4. Spread them on a baking sheet in a single layer.

5. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

6. Enjoy as a side dish or snack!

We were absolutely thrilled to receive an invitation to the newest British musical, Standing at the Sky's Edge, which won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.

Located in Sheffield's Park Hill estate, one of Europe's largest listed buildings, this story follows the lives of three different sets of residents living in the same flat, spanning several decades. In 1960, we meet Harry and Rose, a working-class married couple filled with love and hope for their future. Fast forward to 1989, where we encounter Joy, her cousin, and aunt, who have fled Liberia and are seeking a fresh start. Finally, in 2015, we meet Poppy, a heartbroken middle-class Londoner looking for a new beginning in the newly renovated flats. Each family faces their own struggles, turmoil, and moments of happiness as they navigate life on the Park Hill estate.

The acting and choreography in this production are truly outstanding, with seamless transitions between the characters within the scenes left the audience in awe. This original and emotionally moving musical beautifully shares the stories of each character with perfection. "Standing at the Sky's Edge" serves as a poignant reflection of lives lived over the decades and the struggles they faced, offering a touching glimpse into the realities and relationships that many have experienced.

An Unbelievable Evening

Last night, we were fortunate enough to receive an invitation to attend the sensational theatre production of Unbelievable. However, before indulging in the enchantment of the show, we were invited to a delectable three-course meal at Americana London.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by Jovan who made us feel instantly at ease. The menu presented an array of enticing options, catering both to meat lovers and vegetarians. As we both try to incorporate vegetarian dishes into our diets whenever possible, we were thrilled to discover that there were multiple options available.

For starters, we both opted for the tantalizing crunchy cauliflowers. Moving on to the main course, my sister chose the Veggie Jambalaya, while I savoured the succulent New Orleans Flamed Salmon Filet served on a bed of greens with an accompaniment of cream sauce. The salmon was cooked to perfection the delightful flamed grilled topping that left me craving for more.

To conclude our dining experience on a sweet note, I indulged in the heavenly sticky toffee pudding with a side of velvety vanilla ice cream and butterscotch sauce, each mouthful was a blissful delight that I savored until the very last bite.

Throughout the evening, Jovan and the rest of the friendly staff attended to our needs, ensuring that our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Leaving Americana London feeling thoroughly content, we were now ready to embark on our next adventure at the Criterion Theatre for the mesmerising performance of Unbelievable.

Nestled in the heart of Piccadilly Circus, the Criterion Theatre serves as the perfect setting for this awe-inspiring show. Unbelievable showcases the most extraordinary illusionists and musicians you have ever encountered. Prepare to be utterly captivated as you embark on a breathtaking journey of mystery and magic. The Shakespeare Globe Theatre, located in London located on the south bank of the River Thames, is a popular venue for performances of William Shakespeare's plays and other theatrical works. It also hosts educational events, exhibitions, and tours.

This Easter there is so much to see and do including a 90-minute production of The Tempest created especially for young people opens at Shakespeare’s Globe for public performances from 18 March and runs throughout the Easter holidays until 15 April.

Directed by Diane Page (Julius Caesar, Globe on Tour 2022), this is the return of Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank, our flagship project for secondary schools which offers over 26,000 free tickets are offered to pupils aged 11-16 at London and Birmingham state schools, with subsidised tickets for schools nationwide.

Crispy Fried Ravioli and Marmite Cheese Sauce

This delicious Valentine's Day meal was created by Amy Sheppard, leading foodie influencer and author of HOB and Savvy Shopper's Cookbook.The Crispy Fried Ravioli and Marmite Cheese Sauce is the perfect dish for couples doing Valentine's Day on a budget this year.

250g Fresh Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli
1 egg beaten
50g Panko breadcrumbs
Oil for frying
15g butter
15g flour
150ml milk
75g grated Marmite Cheddar Cheese
50ml single cream
Pinch chilli powder
Salt and pepper
First prep the ravioli: Place the breadcrumbs and beaten egg in separate bowls.

Dip each ravioli in beaten egg, tap off any excess, then roll in the breadcrumbs until lightly coated.
Set them aside or refrigerate if prepping ahead of time.
Make the sauce: Melt the butter in a saucepan on a medium heat. Stir in the flour until it disappears and starts to bubble.
Slowly add the milk a little at a time. Bring it to the boil each time before adding more milk. Stir continuously.
Add the cheese and a pinch of chilli powder. Stir until the cheese has melted.
Stir in the cream and season with salt and pepper. Gently bring to the boil and take off the heat.
Heat 1/2cm deep of oil in a large, non-stick frying pan until hot
On a medium heat, fry the ravioli for 5-7 minutes. You want them to fry quite slowly, so they are golden and crisp but soft in the middle.
Use a slotted spoon to gently press the air out of them as they fry.
Divide between two plates. Heat the sauce through if needed and drizzle over the pasta.

Finish with a little black pepper and finely chopped parsley.

We were extremely excited to be invited back to another spectacular pantomime in The Hackney Empire to watch Mother Goose.

The adventure starts in Hackneywood where Mother Goose runs her beauty parlour, but kind hearted Mother Goose refuses to accept money for her services, so it’s not long before landlord Squire Purchase demands his over due rent.

Meanwhile the Demon Queen sets out persuade Mother Goose to change her caring ways with the promise of eternal beauty in return for her pet goose, will Jack and Billy Goose along with their good friend Jill and with the magical help of Fairy Fame be able to help Mother Goose and save Hackneywood from the clutches from evil Demon Queen.

We absolutely loved every single minute of the show, the cast outstanding as was the entire show, an amazing array of songs choices and costumes, and no panto would be complete without a little audience participation which defiantly went down well.

We were so excited to attend the press viewing at Hayward Gallery presents Strange Clay: Ceramics in Contemporary Art which is one of the first large-scale group exhibitions in the UK to explore how contemporary artists have used the medium of clay in inventive ways.

We were in awe as we wondered around the exhibits exploring the ceramics from artists all around the world.

Strange Clay offers a timely reflection on this vital and popular medium and features 23 international and multi-generational artists, from Betty Woodman, Beate Kuhn, Ron Nagle and Ken Price, to a new generation of artists pushing the boundaries of ceramics today, the exhibition explores the potential of clay through a variety of engaging artworks and displays.

Each artwork varied in scale, finish and technique, and address topics that range from architecture to social justice, the body, the domestic, the political and the organic. Regardless of background or route into the material, all of the artists in the exhibition celebrate the sheer possibility and versatility of clay.

The 'Glastonbury of Fireworks' will once again light up London’s skyline this November 5th from Ally Pally's iconic 196-acre park grounds historic palace.

I was super excited to attend the movie screening of Lyle Lyle Crocodile, having seen the trailer for the movie, I was intrigued by its feel-good vibes.

Movie Synopsis:

When the Primm family (Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy, Winslow Fegley) moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle - a singing crocodile (Shawn Mendes) who loves baths, caviar and great music-living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened by evil neighbour Mr Grumps (Brett Gelman), the Primm’s must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti (Javier Bardem), to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places and there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality.

My Thoughts:

Loved loved loved every minute of this movie, a feel good heartwarming movie from the very start, who couldn’t love the cute crocodile Lyle. A fun movie filled movie with musical moments and a heavy dose of unconditional love and belonging. Lyle Lyle Crocodile is a great fun filled family movie that the kids will adore and the adults will equally like.

Opening to the public on 11 November 2022 and set against a backdrop of one of the capital’s most iconic buildings, the ice rink at Battersea Power Station will be the most magnificent open-air ice rink in the city. Hackney Empire Christmas Pantomime - Mother Goose

Hackney Empire has announced their Christmas 2022 pantomime, Mother Goose, which opens on 19th November and will run until 31st December.

Kat B (Jack and the Beanstalk and The Wiz, Hackney Empire) will star as Billy Goose, alongside Ruth Lynch (making her professional debut) as Priscilla the Goose, Holly Mallett (Andy and The Odd Socks, Glastonbury/UK Tour; Notflix: The Improvised Musical, Soho Theatre) as Jill Purchase, Tony Marshall (Casualty (1993 – 2021); Jitney, Old Vic/Leeds Playhouse) as Squire Purchase, Rebecca Parker (Cats, West End; Crazy For You, West End) as Demon Queen, Ope Sowande (Moulin Rouge, Piccadilly Theatre; The Lion King, International Tour) as Jack Goose, and Gemma Wardle (Les Miserables in Concert, Gielgud Theatre; Fame, Cambridge Theatre) as Fairy Fame. The international conservation charity behind London and Whipsnade Zoos, ZSL, is calling on animal lovers to get moving and walk, run, wheel or cycle ‘Around the World in 30 Days’ to raise vital money to save endangered wildlife across the world.

Throughout the month of June, nature enthusiasts are being asked to collectively travel 40,075km - equal to the circumference of the globe to help fundraise in support ZSL’s conservation work around the world.

Kicking off on 1 June, Around the World in 30 Days’ participants can set the distance they’d like to cover across the 30 days. Fundraise as much money as possible, then take on their challenge of choice whether it be running, walking, wheeling or cycling, whenever and wherever they’d like to, turning their daily exercise into fundraising.

Fundraisers will add their efforts to a combined tracker, and every week they’ll unlock a new heart-warming story, showing how ZSL’s conservation makes a difference in some of the world's most important habitats.

ZSL’s Fundraising and Engagement Director James Wren said, “From elephants in Africa to hazel dormice in Britain, species in every country are in danger of going extinct, but we can change this if we act now – and we’re asking the public to help us travel around the world to do so!”

The Critically Endangered African elephant continues to face serious threats, causing their numbers to fall rapidly in many parts of Africa. Conflict with people, heavy targeting by poachers and loss and fragmentation of habitat are significant issues for the survival of this species. ZSL is working hard to address these threats by training park management teams and eco-guards, providing technical support to implement ‘PoacherCams’ and helping to improve law enforcement against poaching.

James Wren continues, “ZSL is helping vulnerable wildlife recover all over the globe and by taking part in this challenge, you will help us to continue this worldwide conservation work. I will be running and cycling throughout the month aiming to cover as many kilometres as I can. If you’re looking for ideas to make your challenge a little wilder, why not take inspiration from the animal kingdom?”

ZSL have come up with a list of animal inspired athletics to try, including hedgehogs who roam an average distance of 2km on a single night, meaning they reach an impressive 60km in total during June. While tigers prowl over 10km a night to find food, totalling 300km a month.

We were super excited to be invited along to the pre-screening of AMBULANCE the movie, an action packed thriller set in LA in America, the movie features two adoptive brothers, one who desperately needs money for his wife's medical bills, encouraged by his brother the pair soon find themselves in an action packed chase.

Movie Sypnosis - Over one day across the streets of L.A., three lives will change forever. In this breakneck thriller from director-producer Michael Bay, decorated veteran Will Sharp (Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Candyman, The Matrix Resurrections), desperate for money to cover his wife’s medical bills, asks for help from the one person he knows he shouldn’t—his adoptive brother Danny (Oscar® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal, Zodiac, Spider-Man: Far From Home). We were super privileged to attend the much anticipated annual pantomime performance at Hackney Empire - Jack and the Beanstalk. When happy-go-lucky Jack sells his family’s beloved cow for a fistful of magic beans, he finds himself on a marvellous yet dangerous adventure.

Lightopia Crystal Palace London is now officially open, we were privileged to be at the opening switch-on event last week which was hosted by Myleene Klass.

The stunning award-winning London Lightopia festival is finally back after a much-anticipated wait, and this time it's bigger and better than ever.

The immersive 2km trail of illuminations includes 22 breathtaking trees symbolising unity and growth, coming to life through the power of light and human connection.

As we wandered through the light trail we passed the various stunning installations each unique and spectacular bursting with colour.

The multi-sensory interactive lights and lantern installations were breath taking some moved to music and whilst others were visually pleasing to experience, we were in awe as we took in the sights and sounds around us.

Throughout the Lightopia experience, you can enjoy a host of delicious refreshments to help keep you warm and energised. Lightopia is such an amazing and memorable experience to share with your loved ones, it’s a great evening out for the whole family and we loved every single minute of Lightopia London.

What if the thing you fear most is also the thing you crave? All you wanted was one night of unbroken sleep, what have you done? Mum is a feverish journey through every parent’s worst nightmare.

Nina is a new mum and tonight is her first night off. Tonight is about pizza and wine and letting go. But Nina didn’t feel prepared for motherhood and isn’t sure she fits the job description. Nina feels like she’s losing her grip.

Our Thoughts - Mum is a thought-provoking hard-hitting and touching play, it has light-hearted funny moments but is an honest insight into motherhood, from the happy moments to the mental health struggles that many can face, it also explores the pressures that women can face during those early days, along with the deep emotions and anxieties of having a baby.

We were blown away by MUM from start to finish the story of Nina was gripping and will touch many, the talent of the actresses was outstanding they captivated the audience throughout, the standing ovation at the end spoke volumes about this outstanding performance.
