"The Power of a Tic Tac: Life Lessons from Ant-Man"

"The Power of a Tic Tac: Life Lessons from Ant-Man"

by: Glenn "Intot" Dino

He’s not the biggest Avenger. In fact, some might say he’s the smallest — literally. Ant-Man, the hero who can shrink to the size of a tic tac, might seem like an unlikely candidate for greatness. But that’s exactly what makes his story so powerful.

In a world that celebrates the loudest voices and the flashiest victories, Ant-Man reminds us of something essential: you don’t have to be big to make a big difference.

Scott Lang wasn’t born a hero. He was a man with a troubled past, trying to do right by his daughter. But when he put on that shrinking suit, everything changed — not just his size, but his perspective. He discovered that even the tiniest actions can ripple out to shape the world.

Isn’t life the same way?

So often, we feel small. Insignificant. Like a single drop in an ocean of problems, noise, and pressure. We scroll through perfect lives on social media, face overwhelming challenges, and wonder if what we do even matters.

But Ant-Man would tell you it does. That one act of kindness, one moment of courage, one choice to love when it's easier to hate — these are the things that shift the world, little by little.

Being “small” doesn’t mean being weak. It means being agile. It means slipping through obstacles others can’t. It means noticing the overlooked, the forgotten, the quiet miracles of life.

Think about it: ants can lift many times their own weight. They build entire colonies underground. They are some of the most organized, resilient creatures on Earth. That’s not weakness. That’s purpose in motion.

So if today you feel like a tic tac in a world full of giants, take heart.

Your size doesn't define your strength.

Your past doesn’t decide your future.

And your impact — though it may begin small — can change everything.

Be bold. Be humble. Be like Ant-Man.

Whispers of War: Listening for Peace in a Restless World

Whispers of War: Listening for Peace in a Restless World

by: Glenn "Intot" Dino

In the shadows of history and myth, there stands a figure both feared and revered — the God of War. Known by many names across cultures — Ares to the Greeks, Mars to the Romans, and through countless interpretations in games, books, and stories — he represents conflict, fury, and the primal instinct to dominate. Though we may believe such gods have long faded into legend, a glance at the world today suggests otherwise.

We live in a time of unmatched progress, yet the cries of war still echo through cities, screens, and hearts. From political unrest to community divisions, from online hostility to real-world violence, the world seems constantly teetering on the edge of conflict. It is as if the God of War himself walks among us, not with sword and shield, but with whispers — subtle provocations, nudging humanity toward hate instead of love.

These whispers aren’t always loud. They are disguised as pride, fear, misinformation, or self-interest. They tell us to trust less, argue more, and believe the worst in others. They lure us into believing that violence, whether physical or verbal, is a form of strength. And too often, we listen.

But we must remember — the god of war can only win when we forget who we are. When we forget that compassion, understanding, and unity are stronger than swords. Peace is not simply the absence of war, but the presence of justice, empathy, and connection.

Each of us holds the power to resist these dark whispers. It begins with the courage to reflect. To recognize our own anger before it turns into aggression. To speak when silence allows harm, and to be silent when words are used as weapons. It begins with raising children to be brave in kindness, and to teach them that real strength is found not in fists or fury, but in forgiveness and care.

This isn't to deny the reality of evil or injustice — but to remind ourselves that we must not become what we fight against. The God of War may never fully disappear from the human story, but he does not have to write the next chapter.

We do.

"Life Doesn’t Slow Down, So Neither Do I": Embracing the Speed of Purpose

"Life Doesn’t Slow Down, So Neither Do I": Embracing the Speed of Purpose

There’s a quiet hum beneath the surface of our daily lives—a relentless rhythm that moves us from one moment to the next. Appointments, responsibilities, challenges, and triumphs flash by in a blur. It’s in this whirlwind that the words of Barry Allen, also known as The Flash, resonate profoundly:

“Life doesn’t slow down, so neither do I.”

At first glance, it might sound like a line from a superhero script. But dig deeper, and you'll find a powerful life mantra wrapped in comic book simplicity. In a world that spins ever faster—digitally, socially, emotionally—this quote isn’t just about speed. It’s about resilience, purpose, and momentum.

The Illusion of “Perfect Timing”

We often find ourselves waiting. Waiting for the “right time” to start a business, begin a new chapter, or pursue a dream. But here’s the truth: life won’t pause to give us the perfect moment. Time doesn’t stop. Seasons change. Opportunities evolve. If we’re standing still, we’re moving backwards.

Barry Allen’s words remind us that the world won’t wait for us to catch up—so we must train ourselves to run with it, or even ahead of it. Progress isn’t born from perfect timing. It’s born from action, even when conditions aren’t ideal.

The Power of Movement

Momentum is a force that can turn ordinary individuals into extraordinary achievers. When we stay in motion—mentally, emotionally, spiritually—we build resilience. We gain clarity through doing, not just thinking. Challenges lose their grip on us when we move forward with purpose, instead of being paralyzed by fear or doubt.

You don’t need to move at lightning speed. You just need to keep moving. One step at a time. One decision at a time. Because when you stop moving, life doesn't. It keeps going—so why not move with it, grow with it, run with it?

Life Is Meant to Be Lived at Full Speed

Speed doesn’t mean rushing. It means living with intention. It’s waking up each day with a sense of urgency, not to race through life, but to make it count. To love fiercely. To pursue your calling. To forgive, to create, to show up.

You don’t have to be a superhero to live like one. Barry Allen’s quote is less about supernatural speed and more about human spirit. It's a call to action: to refuse stagnation, to rise when life gets heavy, and to match life’s pace with equal energy and heart.

Final Thoughts

The world spins fast, but so do we. Not because we’re trying to beat time, but because we understand that every second matters. Every moment is a chance to live fully, grow deeply, and chase the life we were meant for.

So when life doesn’t slow down, neither do I—and neither should you.

Mindanao Toy X 2025: A Nostalgic Wonderland for Toy Lovers of All Ages

By: Glenn "intot" Dino

Davao City – From April 21 to 27, Gaisano Mall of Davao in Bajada has transformed into a vibrant time capsule, drawing toy enthusiasts, collectors, and curious families to celebrate the beloved world of toys at Mindanao Toy X 2025.

More than just an exhibit, Mindanao Toy X 2025 is a journey through decades of imagination and creativity. Visitors are greeted by a stunning variety of toys that stir up deep nostalgia—each display a spark of childhood joy reborn. From the iconic elegance of Barbie dolls dressed in vintage fashion, to the fierce detail of Gundam model kits, and the expressive charm of anime figures, the event captures the hearts of multiple generations.

The display doesn’t stop at the classics. Collectors proudly showcased the latest wave of Pop Mart figures, their quirky designs adding a modern twist to the nostalgic atmosphere. Meanwhile, the hum of excitement continued over at the Tamiya race car display—classic 4WDs zipping down on the shelves, reigniting the thrill of schoolyard races from the '90s.

Carefully crafted die-cast car dioramas offered a miniature world of wonder, where tiny Lamborghinis and vintage Mustangs rolled across tiny streets and gas stations. Nearby cabs, Star Wars figures stood tall with their lightsabers and blasters, surrounded by legions of clones, droids, and rebels—reminding fans of galaxy-wide adventures that defined their youth.

Towering Mech robots and detailed action figures brought a heroic tone to the display halls, blending nostalgia with the current wave of cinematic superhero passion. Fans young and old found something to marvel at—literally.

But Mindanao Toy X 2025 isn’t just about seeing—it’s about experiencing. The event features bazaar booths teeming with rare finds, fan merch, and collectibles waiting to find new homes. Toy sellers from all over the region brought their best, creating a treasure trove of toys that span decades and genres.

Whether you’re a diehard collector, a casual fan, or a parent showing your child the toys of your time, Mindanao Toy X 2025 is a heartwarming reminder that toys aren’t just playthings—they’re time machines.

So if you’re in Davao, don’t miss this once-a-year celebration of creativity, memory, and play. Revisit your childhood. Reignite your imagination. And remember—some toys never go out of style.

My visit on the third day of Mindanao Toy X 2025 was nothing short of spectacular, and at the center of the anime universe on the show floor was RK Collectibles Davao. With a stunning showcase of fan-favorite franchises including Pokémon, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and a jaw-dropping tribute to Slam Dunk, their display was a magnet for collectors, photographers, and every anime heart in attendance.

The Pokémon display instantly transported visitors into a world of nostalgia and wonder. With iconic figures like Pikachu, Charizard, and an adorable full Eeveelution lineup, fans couldn’t help but snap photos and gush over the rare imported plushies and collector’s items sourced straight from Japan.

Just a few steps over, the Dragon Ball Z zone exploded with energy — literally. Goku, Vegeta, Broly, and more were featured in mid-battle stances, surrounded by diorama effects and light-up auras. Every piece was dynamic and true to form, bringing the series’ explosive power to life in figure form.

In true pirate spirit, One Piece lovers were treated to a grand display of the Straw Hat Pirates aboard the Thousand Sunny. From Luffy’s carefree grin to Zoro’s fierce stance, RK Collectibles’ attention to detail gave fans an up-close look at their favorite characters in full action-ready glory.

But for fans of classic anime — especially those with a soft spot for 90s nostalgia — Slam Dunk was the true crown jewel. Proudly displayed was one of the most-talked-about pieces of the event: the ₱63,000 Shohoku High Team Diorama, a collector’s dream and a tribute to one of the most iconic sports anime of all time. The figures of Hanamichi Sakuragi, Kaede Rukawa, Takenori Akagi, in a Courtside Bench Themed Display and the rest of the team were displayed in perfect game-day form, capturing the grit, energy, and heart of Slam Dunk in a way that made longtime fans stop, stare, and smile.

I WANT THIS SET!! WOW!!

Different Collectors from Davao didn’t just set up a booth — they created a space that celebrated the anime stories we grew up with and continue to love. It was a powerful reminder of how anime connects generations, ignites passions, and turns collectible figures into timeless memories.

Other toys on display.

As I pack up my camera, notes, and wide-eyed wonder, I’m filled with nothing but gratitude and joy. Mindanao Toy X 2025 wasn’t just an event—it is a week-long celebration of the stories, passions, and childhood dreams that connect us all.

To the amazing exhibitors who shared their collections with such pride and detail—thank you for letting us step into your worlds, one figure, one diorama, one memory at a time. You brought nostalgia to life.

To the generous sponsors, your support lit the way for this event to grow bigger and brighter each year. Thank you for fueling the fire of our shared fandom.

And to Gaisano Mall of Davao, thank you for being the constant and welcoming home of Mindanao Toy X. Your continued partnership has allowed this community to thrive and gather in a space filled with fun, passion, and belonging.

As a fellow collector and lifelong toy lover, I leave this event with my heart full and my spirit inspired. Until next year—keep collecting, keep connecting, and never stop believing in the magic of toys.

Lessons Learned: A March of Minimates Tale

In the whimsical world of miniature marvels, where creativity knows no bounds and imagination reigns supreme, the March of Minimates commenced its annual celebration on March 4, 2024. Enthusiasts from far and wide gathered to showcase their tiny masterpieces, each entry a testament to the passion and dedication of its creator.

As Week 1 unfolded, the entries poured in, each one more astonishing than the last. Miniature scenes sprung to life, crafted with meticulous detail and boundless creativity. From bustling Space themed - Cosmic Conflicts to serene Time Travel Adventures, every submission showcased the diverse talents of the Minimate community.

I am among the eager participants, a budding enthusiast eager to share my miniature creations with the world. With painstaking effort, I meticulously crafted my entries, pouring my heart and soul into each tiny detail. However, despite my best efforts, a crucial oversight led to my entries being disqualified from Week 1.

The reason? Failure to tag the esteemed curator of the event, a simple yet crucial requirement overlooked in the excitement of the moment. It was a disappointing setback for me, but amidst the disappointment, valuable lessons were learned.

Undeterred by the setback, I resolved to press on, turning disappointment into determination. Armed with newfound knowledge and a renewed sense of purpose, I set my sights on Week 2, determined to ensure my entries met all the necessary criteria.

But more than just the pursuit of victory, I found solace in the joy of creation and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. The March of Minimates was not just a competition, but a celebration of creativity, a chance to connect with like-minded individuals and share in the collective passion for tiny wonders.

As Week 2 dawned, I will eagerly submit my entries once more, this time ensuring that all requirements are met. And though the outcome will remain uncertain, the journey itself is a reward in its own right.

For me, the March of Minimates is a reminder that setbacks are merely stepping stones on the path to success. And regardless of the outcome, the true joy lay in the creative process itself, in the thrill of bringing miniature worlds to life and sharing them with others.

My Week 1 Day 1 Entry

My Week 1 Day 2 Entry

Week 1 Day 3 Entries

Week 1 Day 4 Entry

Week 1 Day 5 Entries

As the March of Minimates 2024 continued, I will join the ranks of fellow enthusiasts, each step forward a testament to our resilience and determination. And though my entries may not have been counted in Week 1, my spirit remained undaunted, my passion undiminished.

For in the world of Minimates, every setback is merely a prelude to greater triumphs, and every creator has a chance to shine, no matter how tiny the canvas may be. And so, with newfound determination and a heart full of hope, I will embark on the next chapter of my creative journey, ready to make my mark on the March of Minimates 2024.

"Unwrapping the True Gift: Embracing the Real Essence of Christmas"

2023-12-24T10:31:00.000-08:00

"Unwrapping the True Gift: Embracing the Real Essence of Christmas"

As the holiday season approaches, our lives become adorned with twinkling lights, festive decorations, and the joyful hustle and bustle of gift-giving. However, amidst the glittering commercialism, it's crucial to take a moment to unwrap the true gift that Christmas brings – the presence of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

In the midst of exchanging presents, organizing parties, and reveling in the festive spirit, it's easy to lose sight of the real reason for the season. The essence of Christmas lies not in the material gifts we exchange but in the timeless and boundless gift that God bestowed upon us — the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus, the embodiment of love, grace, and salvation, is the true reason we celebrate Christmas. His presence in our lives transcends the glitter and glitz of the season. Beyond the tinsel and wrapping paper, the real beauty of Christmas is found in the profound impact of Christ's presence on our hearts and souls.

In the simplicity of the nativity scene, we find the profound truth that the King of Kings chose to enter the world in a humble manger. This humble beginning symbolizes the accessibility of Christ's presence to all, regardless of status or circumstance. His message is one of inclusivity, love, and hope.

Amidst the rush to buy the perfect gift and create the most enchanting holiday atmosphere, let us not forget to invite Jesus into our homes and hearts. The warmth of His presence is the ultimate source of joy and peace, far surpassing the temporary pleasures that come with material gifts.

As we gather with loved ones and exchange tokens of affection, let us not lose sight of the real essence of Christmas. May we be reminded that the true gift is not under the tree but was born in a humble stable, offering salvation and eternal joy. In embracing the presence of Jesus Christ, we discover the timeless and immeasurable essence of Christmas – a celebration of love, hope, and the miraculous birth that changed the course of history.

THE RETIREMENT OF THANOS

2023-12-07T17:27:00.000-08:00

"The Retirement of Thanos"

In the vast expanse of the universe, where galaxies collided and cosmic powers clashed, there once lived a being of unparalleled might – Thanos, the Mad Titan. Fueled by an insatiable desire for power and control, he sought the ultimate force in the universe: the Infinity Stones.

One by one, Thanos collected the stones, bending reality to his will and reshaping the cosmos. With the power of the stones, he became an omnipotent force, capable of erasing planets with a mere thought. The universe quivered at his might, and all who opposed him were crushed beneath the weight of his power.

However, as the Mad Titan reveled in his newfound dominance, an unexpected revelation struck him. Despite having the power to shape reality itself, Thanos found that the one thing he truly desired eluded him – a simple and peaceful life. The very thing he had never considered in his quest for absolute power now tugged at the edges of his consciousness.

In a moment of introspection, Thanos realized that the pursuit of power had left him empty. The Infinity Stones, once the instruments of his conquest, now became relics of a past life. With a decision that baffled even the cosmic entities, Thanos used the combined might of the stones to retire from his cosmic conquest.

The universe, accustomed to trembling before the Mad Titan, witnessed a surprising turn of events. Thanos withdrew to a remote, tranquil planet, far removed from the chaos and destruction he had once wrought. There, amidst the serenity of nature, he built a humble cottage overlooking a serene landscape.

Thanos, now free from the burdens of omnipotence, embraced the simplicity he had long overlooked. He tended to a garden, enjoying the fruits of a life unburdened by the weight of cosmic dominance. The once mighty conqueror found solace in the mundane, finding beauty in the ordinary moments that had escaped his notice during his quest for power.

As news of Thanos' retirement spread across the galaxies, the beings he had once subjugated could scarcely believe the transformation. Some dismissed it as a ruse, while others pondered the irony of the most formidable force in the universe seeking peace in obscurity.

In the end, the retired Mad Titan, content with his newfound tranquility, reflected on the true meaning of power. It was not in the ability to control others or reshape reality but in the choice to live a life of simplicity and harmony. Thanos, the once-terrifying conqueror, had become an unlikely symbol of the transformative power of retirement and the pursuit of a peaceful existence.

The Retirement of Thanos serves as a cosmic allegory, reflecting a profound truth that resonates not only in the far reaches of the universe but also within the depths of the human experience. In our own pursuit of success, be it through education, careers, businesses, or the realization of ambitious dreams, we often find ourselves caught in the gravitational pull of societal expectations and personal aspirations.

Much like Thanos, who amassed unimaginable power only to discover the emptiness within, humans too may discover that the relentless pursuit of external achievements does not necessarily guarantee inner fulfillment. The story prompts us to question the true essence of our endeavors and invites introspection into the motivations driving our actions.

The humble cottage on the remote planet, where Thanos chose to retire, becomes a metaphor for the simplicity and peace that many of us yearn for beneath the layers of our ambitions. It encourages us to recognize that, beyond the glittering facade of success, lies a fundamental human desire for a life free from the complexities that often accompany the pursuit of greatness.

In the midst of our pursuits, we might overlook the beauty in ordinary moments, the tranquility of a quiet life, and the joy found in the simplicity of genuine connections. The retired Mad Titan becomes a symbolic figure, urging us to question whether our relentless quests for external validation and accomplishments are aligned with our deepest desires for a peaceful, simple life.

So, as we navigate the vast cosmic landscape of our own aspirations, let the tale of Thanos' retirement serve as a gentle reminder. Success, in its truest form, may not lie in the grandeur of our achievements but in the quiet moments of contentment and the pursuit of a life that resonates with simplicity and peace.

TRICK OR TREATING

Trick or Treating: Embracing Fearlessness and Celebrating Redemption

by: intot dino

Trick or Treating, a beloved Halloween tradition, has become synonymous with the enchanting essence of this spooky season. Children don their favorite costumes, eagerly visit houses, and confidently proclaim "Trick or Treat!" in hopes of sweet rewards. However, beyond the playful facade lies a valuable lesson that Trick or Treating imparts: the realization that there is no need to be afraid of ghosts, creatures of the dark, or death itself. This essay explores how this cherished tradition teaches kids to embrace fearlessness by reminding them of Jesus Christ's redemptive power over death and that Halloween is, at its core, a children's fun activity.

Trick or Treating has been a Halloween staple for generations. On the night of October 31st, children of all ages dress up in elaborate costumes, whether they be superheroes, monsters, princesses, or favorite fictional characters. Armed with their vivid imaginations and a candy bag, they venture into their neighborhoods, exuberantly chanting "Trick or Treat!" as they knock on doors, eagerly awaiting sweet treats.

Trick or Treating empowers children to face their fears head-on. Many Halloween costumes are inspired by frightening figures like ghosts, witches, and skeletons. Rather than avoiding these scary symbols, children embrace them with enthusiasm, demonstrating their resilience and courage. This fearlessness is a crucial lesson that transcends the boundaries of the holiday itself.

The act of Trick or Treating indirectly instills a profound spiritual message. It reminds children that they need not fear the unknown, the supernatural, or even death itself. It is a gentle way of conveying the message that Jesus Christ has redeemed the world and conquered death through His resurrection. This message encourages children to trust in the divine power that transcends any fear they may face.

While Halloween may have deep-rooted origins in pagan traditions, modern Trick or Treating has evolved into a lighthearted, child-friendly activity. Children may not fully understand the historical context, but they can certainly appreciate the fun and excitement that Halloween brings. They dress up, collect candy, and share laughter with friends and family, making Trick or Treating a joyful and carefree experience.

As we approach Trick or Treat in 2023, the tradition continues to thrive. The excitement and anticipation remain as children eagerly plan their costumes and routes. Trick or Treat has also adapted to the times, with many shopping malls and community centers hosting events that provide a safe and well-organized environment for children to collect their treats.

In the Philippines, Trick or Treating is known as "pangangaroling." It is similar to that of "pangangaroling." Minus the singing. Just like in the Western world, Filipino children dress up in costumes, visit houses, or for some in malls. Moving from one store to another and joyfully chant "Trick or Treat!" as they gather candies and treats. The spirit of fearlessness and celebration remains the same, transcending cultural boundaries.

Trick or Treating, the cherished Halloween tradition, is much more than a simple quest for candy. It teaches children to be fearless in the face of the unknown, just as Jesus Christ's redemptive power conquered death and darkness. The act of dressing up, knocking on doors, and chanting "Trick or Treat!" is a reminder that fear should have no place in our hearts, and that Halloween is ultimately a children's fun activity. As we enter Trick or Treat 2025, let us continue to celebrate this age-old tradition, embracing the lessons of courage and redemption it imparts.

Trick or Treat: When Love Knocks on the Heart’s Door 💌

Every October, the streets, but here in the Philippines in Malls, come alive with laughter, costumes, and candy—an enchanting time when Trick or Treat echoes through neighborhoods and corridors of Malls. But have you ever thought that love can be just the same?

When someone falls in love, it’s like knocking on another person’s heart—hoping for a treat, yet bracing for a possible trick. The treat comes in the form of affection returned, of smiles shared and warmth exchanged. It’s the sweet taste of knowing that someone out there feels the same way you do.

But love, just like Halloween, has its own mysterious side. Sometimes, despite the courage it takes to confess, you find the door unopened. The trick comes when love plays games with timing, distance, or fate. Still, even the trick teaches us something valuable—how to be brave, how to cherish moments, and how to find joy in giving love freely.

For those who dare to love, the heart’s trick or treat is always worth it. Because whether you receive the sweetest “yes” or the bittersweet “not yet,” you’ve stepped out in faith—costume or not, mask off, heart on display.

After all, love itself is the greatest adventure, and every heartbeat is a door waiting to be knocked upon.

where's my treat?! hehehe!

ps. warning: after trick or treating a visit to the dentist is inevitable. hehehe!
