But if the hiccups are prolonged for longer periods, what should we do to stop it? below are some tips to do when our baby get hiccups.

Ordinary hiccups (hiccough) last only a few minutes and are no cause for concern. However, if this attack is prolonged and severe, do not wait until it has caused exhaustion and anxiety; consult to doctor who may prescribe a sedative.

Hiccups can be caused by eating or drinking to quick, by disorders of the digestive tract and respiratory system, and by nervous tension.

The number of cures for hiccups is legion. For most hiccups, that are normally mild, possible remedies include taking a serious of deep breaths: pulling the tongue, to induce swallowing; inducing sneezing with pepper; drinking a glass of water slowly or from the far side of the glass; and breathing into a paper bag held closely about the face for no longer than a minute or two. The use of a paper bag increases the carbon dioxide content of the air breathed in so that the lungs work harder in order to get more oxygen. Often this deeper breathing regulates the contractions of the diaphragm.
Baby Chooking, what should we do?

Choking is a dangerous situation for our baby, a fast first aid will be needed to remove the object that sticking in the baby's throat. The obstruction can often be loosened and removed by placing your child face downwards on a bed or table, with his head and chest hanging down over the side, and thumping him between the shoulder blades. A young child or baby should be help upside-down and his back slapped gently.

The objective in a choking situation should be to dislodge the object that is blocking the throat and preventing normal breathing.

Your child will be coughing violently. If the coughing does not clear the blockage, give him a hard slap between the shoulder blades. Do not try to remove the object with your fingers; you are likely to push it further down the throat. If first aid does relieve choking, take your child immediately to a hospital, and remember that time is all-important.
Baby bleeding, what should we do?

Minor bleeding usually stops on its own or under slight pressure. If there is dirt in or around the wound, wash with soap and water, and dry with cotton swabs, wiping away from the wound.
Minor bleeding usually stops of its own accord, but is can be controlled by pressure from a pad or dressing, or even the bare fingers.
If the bleeding is severe, make the baby lie still while an ambulance is called for. If the wound is in an arm or leg and no fracture is suspected raise the limb above the level of the rest of the body. Apply dry dressings to the wound. If they become soaked with blood, do not remove them but press more on top. If there is internal bleeding, it may be revealed by paleness, breathlessness or restlessness. Blood may be coughed up, vomited or passed in hte stools or urine. Only a doctor can treat internal bleeding. Bleeding in the tissues causes bruises such as that which sometimes accompanies a closed fracture.
If the baby is vomiting, lay him in the recovery position on is stomach with his head turned to one side and the arm and leg f that side drawn up; otherwise lay him in as comfortable position as possible. Loosen all clothing and get him to hospital as quick as possible, preferably by ambulance, which will jolt him, less than will other forms of transport.
If there is nose bleeding in your child, make him sit with his head forward and over a bowl. Pince his nostrils together firmly for up to ten minutes. By that time the bleeding should stop. If it doesn't stop the bleeding, get your child to hospital.
What should I do if my baby gets bitten by an animal?

Bitten by insect
Insect bites can generally be relieved with calamine lotion or anti-histamine cream. If complications develop, consult with your doctor.
Bites by gnats and mosquitoes cause inflammation and itching, but see that your child does not scratch the bite, as it can damage the skin. Apply calamine lotion or antihistamine cream, if complications develop within a few days of the mosquito bite, seek a doctor's advice.

Bitten by bigger animals like dog or snake can lead to serious injuries. Bleeding in the open wound, infection and animal poison is dangerous to your baby. You should consult to the doctor for better treatment.
Animal bites usually respond to cleaning with soap and water, and an antiseptic dressing. A dog bit may need to be treated with an anti-rabies injection. Let a doctor see it at the first opportunity in case there are any complications with an animal bite. Animal bites are seldom serious, and soon heals if there is no infection.
For snakebite, wash the wound with soap and water, and apply a dry dressing on it. Rest the child, and see that he does not move the bitten part. Do not give him anything to drink or eat. Arrange for him to be taken on a stretcher in an ambulance to hospital. If he shivers, feels sick or complains of giddiness after 15 minutes, then the poison has got into the system. He has to be hospitalised and be under the care of a doctor until the venom has been eliminated from his body.
Injured baby, what parents should do?

I have many articles about baby safety, how to prevent our baby from possibly dangerous area, tools and environment in our home, but sometime this is not enough, and our baby still experience some accident even we closely keep on eye to our baby. So, what should we do if the baby get injured? Below are some tips about what we should do for minor injuries that happen to our baby.

As a parent, you will have to cope with common minor injuries that happen in and around the home, like cuts, bruise and burn, as your child grows up. But you should also be prepared and equipped to cope with major accidents or emergencies, should they occur. You should know the asic first aid techniques to deal with accidents immediately, effectively and calmly. You should have a handy first aid kit in your home, away from your child's reach.
Minor injuries can be treated at home. Soil or dirt in a wound can be a source of infection, so all bruises and cuts should be washed thoroughly with soap and water, dried, and then covered with a sterile dressing. If dirt is embedded in a cut or scratch, consult a doctor, or take the child to hospital in case an antibiotic or anti-tetanus injection is necessary.
In next articles, I will posting more detail about first aid from different minor injuries like bites, bleeding, bruises, burns and scalds, choking, eye injury, fainting, grazes, scratches, splinters, sprain stings, shock, hiccup, sunstroke, sunburn, blisters, toothache, poisoning, resuscitation and many more...
Paternity Testing

<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" Usually the maternity test is used for mother – child relationship because it can give the most reliable result, but some company also give an additional test for the father for small additional cost.

The paternity test sample collection

The maternity testing use DNA sample from both parent and child. The sampling method is easy, using buccal swab technique, where buccal swabs are rubbed against the inside of cheeks, the loose cheek cells used as sample for DNA extraction. Other sampling technique is using blood sample. The point is the sample contain the live cells and DNA inside the cells.

The DNA paternity test technique

The extracted DNA than polymerized using PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technique and the polymerized DNA cut with restriction fragment length polymorphism to create different DNA length. This unique and different DNA length than profiled using electrophoresis to create unique bands profile. This bands are unique to each person, but for someone who have close biological relationship will have big similarities, and if they don’t have biological relationship, the band profile will be completely different.

The cost of paternity test

The cost of paternity testing are vary, ranged from $300-500. Today, I read email from kidshealth.org, one of their news is about asperger syndrome, and I decided to blog this important disorder information here. Hope this article is useful for you.

Asperger syndrome (AS) is a neurobiological disorder that is part of a group of conditions called autism spectrum disorders. The term "autism spectrum" refers to a range of developmental disabilities that includes autism as well as other disorders with similar characteristics.

They are known as spectrum disorders because the symptoms of each can appear in different combinations and in varying degrees of severity: two children with the same diagnosis, though they may share certain patterns of behavior, can exhibit a wide range of skills and abilities.

As a result, general terms such as "low-functioning," "high-functioning," "autistic tendencies," "pervasive developmental disorder," and others are often used to describe children whose behaviors fall within the spectrum. Kids with AS share many of the same symptoms as those with "high-functioning autism."

About Asperger Syndrome

Asperger noticed that although these boys had normal intelligence and language development, they had severely impaired social skills, were unable to communicate effectively with others, and had poor coordination.

According to the Asperger Syndrome Coalition of the United States, the onset of AS is later than what is typical in autism — or at least it is recognized later. Many kids are diagnosed after age 3, with most diagnosed between the ages of 5 and 9.

AS is characterized by poor social interactions, obsessions, odd speech patterns, and other peculiar mannerisms. Kids with AS often have few facial expressions and have difficulty reading the body language of others; they might engage in obsessive routines and display an unusual sensitivity to sensory stimuli (for example, they may be bothered by a light that no one else notices; they may cover their ears to block out sounds in the environment; or they might prefer to wear clothing made only of a certain material).

Overall, people with AS are capable of functioning in everyday life, but tend to be somewhat socially immature and may be seen by others as odd or eccentric.

Other characteristics of AS include motor delays, clumsiness, limited interests, and peculiar preoccupations. Adults with AS have trouble demonstrating empathy for others, and social interactions continue to be difficult. Experts say that AS follows a continuous course and usually lasts a lifetime. However, symptoms can wax and wane over time, and early intervention services can be helpful.

Signs and Symptoms

Because the symptoms of AS are often hard to differentiate from other behavioral problems, it's best to let a doctor or other health professional evaluate your child's symptoms. It's not uncommon for a child to be diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) before a diagnosis of AS is made later.

These signs and symptoms might be present in a child with AS:

inappropriate or minimal social interactions

conversations almost always revolving around self rather than others

"scripted," "robotic," or repetitive speech

lack of "common sense"

problems with reading, math, or writing skills

obsession with complex topics such as patterns or music

average to below-average nonverbal cognitive abilities, though verbal cognitive abilities are usually average to above-average

awkward movements

odd behaviors or mannerisms

It's important to note that, unlike kids with autism, those with AS might show no delays in language development; they usually have good grammatical skills and an advanced vocabulary at an early age. However, they typically do exhibit a language disorder — they might be very literal and have trouble using language in a social context.

Often there are no obvious delays in cognitive development or in age-appropriate self-help skills such as feeding and dressing themselves. Although kids with AS can have problems with attention span and organization, and have skills that seem well developed in some areas and lacking in others, they usually have average and sometimes above-average intelligence.

Causes of Asperger Syndrome

Researchers and mental health experts are still investigating the causes of autism and AS. Many believe that the pattern of behavior that characterizes AS may have many causes. There seems to be a hereditary component to AS, and research indicates that in some cases AS may be associated with other mental health disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder. Researchers are also looking into whether environmental factors that affect brain development might play a role.

Contrary to the incorrect assumptions some may make about people with the disorder, AS is not caused by emotional deprivation or the way a person has been brought up. Because some of the behaviors exhibited by someone with AS may be seen by others as intentionally rude, many people wrongly assume that AS is the result of bad parenting — it isn't. It's a neurobiological disorder whose causes are not yet fully understood.

Currently, there is no cure for the disorder — kids with AS become adults with AS. But many lead full and happy lives, and the likelihood of achieving this is enhanced with appropriate education, support, and resources.
Diagnosing Asperger Syndrome

Asperger syndrome can be very difficult to diagnose. Children with AS function well in most aspects of life, and so it can be easy to attribute their strange behaviors to just being "different."

According to mental health experts, if your child has AS, early intervention is very important. Intervention involving educational and social training, performed while a child's brain is still developing, is highly recommended.

If your child exhibits some of the symptoms and behaviors that are typical of AS, it's critical to seek help from your doctor. He or she can refer you to a mental health professional or other specialist for further evaluation.

When a specialist assesses your child, a thorough "psychosocial" evaluation will be performed. This includes a careful history of when symptoms were first recognized, the child's development of motor skills and language patterns, and other aspects of personality and behavior (including favorite activities, unusual habits, preoccupations, etc.).

Particular emphasis is placed on social development, including past and present problems in social interaction and development of friendships. A psychological evaluation and assessment of communication skills are usually conducted to determine your child's strengths and skills that may be deficient.

Treating Asperger Syndrome

Because AS can present patterns of behaviors and problems that differ widely from child to child, there isn't a "typical" or prescribed treatment regimen. However, your child may benefit from the following forms of treatment:

parent education and training

specialized educational interventions for the child

social skills training

language therapy

sensory integration training for younger kids, usually performed by an occupational therapist, in which they are desensitized to stimuli to which they're overly sensitive

psychotherapy or behavioral/cognitive therapy for older children

medications

It will help if you involve all of your child's caregivers in the treatment. The health professionals who are caring for your child should know what the others are doing, and you will often find yourself acting as the "case manager" in this scenario. Teachers, babysitters, other family members, close friends, and anyone else who cares for your child also should be involved.

It's important to know that many people can provide assistance. Finding the right program for your child is key and getting help early is important. Kids with AS can and do experience great gains with the appropriate treatment and education.

Helping Your Child

Although AS presents challenges for affected kids and their parents, you can help your child adjust and offer support in many ways:

Look into educational or training programs for parents. You're your child's first teacher and you'll continue to be the cornerstone in supporting his or her development.

Teach your child self-help skills. Learning these skills helps kids achieve maximum independence.

Because it's not always obvious that a child has AS, alert others to the fact that your child has special needs. As a parent, you may have to take on the role of educator when dealing with teachers, medical personnel, and other caregivers.

Find a program that addresses your child's specific needs or areas of "deficiency." The Autism Society of America (ASA) encourages family members to talk to the program director to determine if the curriculum or program addresses their child's particular issues.

Choose special programs or treatments that focus on long-term outcomes and that take the developmental level of your child into consideration.

Remember that your child is part of a family unit and that his or her needs should be balanced with the those of other family members.

Get support for yourself and other family members. You can't help your child if you are not meeting your own emotional and physical needs. Your community may offer support groups at a local hospital or mental health center. There is considerable state-to-state variation in the types of government-sponsored services and other programs available to children with autism spectrum disorders and their families.

Your Child's Future

Currently, few facilities are specifically dedicated to providing for the needs of kids with AS. Some children are in mainstream schools where their progress depends on the support and encouragement of parents, caregivers, teachers, and classmates. However, some go to special schools for kids with autism or learning disabilities.

Many people with AS can function well in most aspects of life, so the condition does not have to prevent your child from succeeding academically and socially.

You may feel overwhelmed and discouraged if your child is diagnosed with AS. Remember that your child's treatment team can provide enormous support and encouragement for your child — and your family.

Source: kidshealth.org

Don't save your breast milk on refrigerator

by baby care

This is a great article I read from Nutritional Neuroscience Journal, the article is about the levels of the breast milk components can be change every day, depending of the baby needs, for example, how this milk could help newborn babies to sleep. But scientists are just now beginning to understand the composition and function of many of the components of human breast milk.

Researchers have found, for example, that certain sugars in breast milk could be developed into treatments that help fight necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a potentially deadly disease that affects about 10 percent of premature infants. Some types of sugars in breast milk appear to prevent bacterial infections, including those that cause severe diarrhea, the article notes.

A better understanding of the chemistry and function of breast milk can also lead to the design of more nutritious infant formulas and cow's milk products, the article suggests. "[Breast milk] is a remarkable fluid," remarked one researcher. "It's extremely embarrassing how little we still know about it."

Leg Movement Training For Preterm Infants

By baby care

Good news from American Physical Therapy Association about leg movement training in preterm infants give positive changes in motor skills similar to that of full-term infants.
Randomized controlled trial reproted in the october issue of physical therapy journal reported that preterm infants who receive leg movement training display feet-reaching behaviors similar to that of full-term infants. This trial result is a good finding as early intervention strategy to encourage interaction with physical objects in preterm infants who have movements problems within the first months of postnatal life.

As we know that full-term infant can make contact with toys using their feed before reaching with their hands while certain populations of preterm infants are known to be delayed in hand reaching. Knowing how difficult breastfeeding is, I still believe that with determination to breastfeed from the start and commitment to stick with it, breastfeeding can go on easier.

Breastfeeding is the best and natural way to meet the baby's nutrition needs. It strengthens the special bond between the mother and the child even more. Breast milk is the first perfect food for the baby. The benefits for the mother and the child are actually incalculable and nothing is more wonderful than this. Now, more moms are keeping abreast on breastfeeding. There are online communities and advocates who support mommies to go on with breastfeeding their babies.

Experts and the federal government encourages American mothers to breastfeed their babies because of its benefits to the baby and the family as well. Breast milk is free and it can help mothers save around $2,000 a year on baby formula.

A federal agency, WIC, provides nutrition counseling, food and health services, has also introduces a new food program that encourages breastfeeding. This new program, mandated in all the States, reallocates funding for all currently provided foods, which includes infant formula, baby foods and more. It means that a mother whp choose to breastfeed their babies exclusively with not be provided with an infant formula.

Here is an interesting baby formula calculator where we can calculate the amount of savings we can get. You can compare the price of the infant formula you often used with the high quality Parent's Choice Infant formula. There is actually more savings on the Parent's Choice Infant formula and moms should not be worried with its nutritional values. As Dr. Barbara Levine of Weill Cornell Medical College says, "Store-brand infant formulas sold at major retailers are therefore a premium nutritional substitute at a value price and meet the same exacting FDA nutritional requirements as all the major brands. As a nutritionist I know the truth about infant formula: there is no nutritional reason to buy the much more expensive formulas sold by the big pharmaceutical companies."

Great buying tips from ShopWiki

Sometime buying gift for special moment is difficult. Sadly, circumstances can occur that make the decision for mom or cause her to change her mind. Having a baby with a cleft lip or palate may make it seem impossible for a mother to breast feed. Too often, mothers turn to bottle feeding in these circumstances without knowledge that it is possible to breast feed in these special circumstances.

When faced with a newborn with special breastfeeding challenges, it is good to know that many hospitals have lactation specialists, who can meet with new mothers in the hospital or in classes or support groups. They know a lot of tricks and have suggestions for successful nursing in special circumstances. These lactation consultants can be found through the labor and delivery area or through the childbirth classes at your local hospital. Lactation specialists are a ready source of information about how and where to obtain breast pumps and other nursing aids.

Because cleft lip and palate are relatively common birth defects that are readily diagnosed prenatally and confirmed through the use of 3D and 4D ultrasound, parents can be proactive and prepare for these special feeding needs. Babies with cleft lip and palate have physical deformities that might make one think that breastfeeding would be impossible; however, that is not the case. Babies with cleft lip alone can nurse very successfully, but it may take some trial and error to find the best position for most effective nursing. It is important that babies with a cleft lip be put to breast immediately because it is easier to latch on to an empty soft breast and "practice" sucking. This also allows moms to try various breast feeding positions to see what might work best for both of them. The malleable breast tissue can actually make a better seal with the infant's mouth than a bottle with nipple can.

Babies with cleft palate do have difficulty with breast feeding, however with the use of a special cleft palate nipple, pumped breast milk can be bottle fed. These special nipples seal the palate defects so that they can suck successfully. In the case of a cleft palate, pumped breast milk can still confer all of its benefits to the infant while it is bottle fed. Mothers of infants with cleft palate should start pumping right away so that an effective milk supply can be established. It is more challenging to establish a milk supply through pumping alone, however, it is well worth the effort.

Taare Zameen Par: Courtesy to Dyslexia children

by baby care

At the first time, I don't know about dyslexia, but after watching Bollywood movie about dislexia child;Taare Zameen Par, than I know the suffer of dyslexia children. However, the magnitude of this risk is the same as that for women with a family history of breast cancer. This is an explanation why giving birth early protects against breast cancer. When a woman goes through a full-term pregnancy, her breasts undergo maturation to prepare for milk production. The mature breast cells are less likely to turn cancerous. However when a women gives birth late, her breast cells have already turned abnormal, hence a late full-term pregnancy is not protective

Breast feeding reduce risk of breast cancer

Having more than one child and close together can reduce the risk of breast cancer. This reproductive factor is not as important as having the first child early.
Nowadays women seldom breast feed and if they do, it is often of short duration of less than 3 months. Therefore breast feeding is now only a minor protective factor. Research has shown that if a mother breast fed for more than one to two years, she can reduce her risk of breast cancer but not totally prevent it.

The Listening Program (TLP) for our child

By baby care

<u1:p></u1:p>
Did yo know that listening to certain clasiccal music like Mozart, Haydn and Vivaldi can stimulate our brain and improve our ability?

Today I just drop by on http://www.advancebrain.com and read to this The Listening Program or TLP. and I just know about the music therapy really can stimulate the brain and improve the whole body performance for better living.

I think it is very interesting to know why listening different kind of music can stimulate our brain and improve the performance. Just read this article below:

Listening to lower frequency sounds can improve your sensory integration like; balance, rhythm, coordination, body awareness, sense of direction.

Listening to middle and higher frequency sounds can improve your speech and language, like; memory, concentration, attention, speech, language and vocal control.

And listening to higher frequency sounds can improve high spectrum, like; energy, intuition, spirituality, creativity and auditory cohesion.

So if you listening to the certain kind of music that has specific structure, producing sound waves in organized patterns really can improve the ability of different functions of the mind and body, and The
