Nauseous feeling that kept me awake for so many nights

There has been a lot of thing that comes and go
Lives lost in an instant, dreams flew like a boat
Shivers are spent, burns are then kept
But what was it again? Is it to find one's self?

Loud and annoying are the ways I saw
A clear path, I kissed the ground from every plow
Treasure it is and surely it will
But it was never a spot that could be seen in this field

I gasp for air, and it was deep and stretched
A repetitive motion that has been lurking there in the mist
Could it be life knocking and trying to hit my senses?
Or it was death inviting my curiosity for it is I he misses?

There was light in each step
A silent breeze that's not too cold nor too hot
At the end of each side were dark and bright
Whispering the thoughts that I said that night

Hear ye! Hear ye! Says the announcer
Look at the mines and observe the diggers

I tried hard and practiced to be a miner

Confused indeed I am.

Lingering the moment which I know nothing about. Kinda like Jon Snow.

Trying hard. Yes it's in the affirmative.

But every time I tried I end up failing.

It was like, Fuck I'm old,

But the misery won't end.

For every shit I told

I get more than a thousand fold.

I miss writing, I miss my co-writers as well.

As fast as we build, goes fast as we fell.

I tried writing so many times. Trying to get at least a portion of that old self

But it ends up unfinished, like the governments crap

I don't know where I'm going.

I'm not even sure if I'm aware of what I'm writing.

I'm just here, glaring with a blank stare

Makaraan ng ilang ulit kong pagiikut-ikot sa iba't-ibang blog. Lagi kong iniisip. Dapat ba 'kong mag-iwan ng aking kuru-kuro sa dulo ng bawat akda? Siguro. Hindi ko alam.

Sabi nila tahimik daw ako. Ang bulung-bulunga'y nakakatamad kausap dahil puro na lamang oo at pag-tango. Ano bang dapat? Lutang na kaisipan ko'y nagtatanong. Magkagayun ma'y ipagpaumanhin mo nalang ang daang tinahak ng pagtanda ko.

Napapagod ka na ba sa puro galit at hiyawan ng sama ng loob? Bahay, lansangan maging sa mga social media. Ano bang meron?

Demokrasya.

Demokrasyang pinaglaban natin ng paulit-ulit. Kalayaan! Pero mga sakim din naman lahat ang kumubra ng mga panaginip at hinaing ng bawat isa. Mga nakinabang sa pamamagitan ng matatamis na salita at ng salaping bumubuhay ng mga maliliit na bata.

Magulo. Walang laman.
Mga hinaing daw na butaw at walang permanenteng direksyon.

Darkness attracts a community

And for some reason it stays more than it should

But was it there to glimmer?

Walking proud with hands held high?

For it sneaks throughout your life knowing its eyes were stained

Skinned perfection and endless queries you always knew

Just plain dark, like the coffee you had plus that smoke stuck with you

As the scene clouds with their senseless judgement

One Month before our 6^th Anniversary…

Perhaps, this would be my last love letter… If you’d consider this one.

First of all, I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for the past that I could continuously cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you for spending most of your spare time with me and of course, thank you for loving me.

Yes, what we had wasn’t perfect but the plans and laughter we had was very nostalgic. It was worth it.
Everything was definitely worth it. The misfortunes, trials and everything that was jeopardized was definitely worth every second of my time. Thank you for spending it with me.

So as for the second part, I just wanted to say I’m sorry. Sorry for breaking up with you. Sorry, for letting you down. Sorry if I ended up here… Sorry for letting you go. I knew I could not make you happy anymore and of course, that was my fault. I think it’s was best for us… To be separated.

Restless nights with a stream of the past

Isa nanamang mainit at mabagal na usad ang dinatnan ni Mang Eduardo sa kahabaan ng Epifanio de los Santos Avenue. Mahabang biyaheng kailangan niyang daanan ng ilang ulit kada araw upang maghatid ng mga pasahero. Isang malawak na entabaladong kanyang iniikot na may dalang sari-saring kuwento.

Pasado alas dos na ng hapon ngunit ngayon palang kakain ang pagod ngunit kuntentong drayber na nakakadalawang ikot pa lamang sa nakatokang ruta mula kaninang umaga.

"Pare! Napansin mo ba yung nanakawan kaninang umaga sa may bandang Quezon Ave? Dalawang kumikikil tapos dalawang watcher sa magkabilaang pwesto.", paguusisa ng kanyang kundoktor kahit hindi pa tapos lunukin ang pagkaing kasalukuyan pa lamang nitong nilalasap sa bibig.

"Eh yung nagtitinda ng tubig na sumakay sa bandang Cubao napansin mo ba? Yun yung tumimbre kung sinong bibiktimahin.", malumanay na sagot ni Mang Eduardo.

"Ha!? Pano mo naman nalaman yan!?"

"Toy, bata ka pa. Dito na ko sa EDSA lumaki. Alam ko na kung sinong mandurukot diyan kahit na magpalit pa ng mukha yang mga yan.", malungkot na pagbibida naman niya.

"Anak ng! Tapos pag nagkasumbungan tayong mga nagtatrabaho ng matino ang nagiging kasabwat!? Wala talagang kwenta 'tong sistema ng bansang ito!", inis namang sagot ng kundoktor.

"Wag ka mag-alala toy, pag tumakbo kang presidente ng Pilipinas at buhay pa ako iboboto kita.", sagot namang ng nagagalak na si Mang Eduardo sa baguhang kasama.

Matapos ang tinuring na tanghalia'y sandaling pahinga pa at muli nanamang pumasada si Mang Eduardo kasama ng kanyang baguhang kundoktor paikot sa natatanging entablado. Entabladong paulit-ulit na ang eksena ngunit madalas ay naiiba ang mga bida. Mga nagpapautang na sasabit nalang bigla upang maningil sa higit dalawang buwan ng utang na hindi nababayaran, mga pulis na pag hindi nagustuhan ang pang kapeng iniabot ay may naitala paring huli mo kahit na ibalik pa ang lisensya, aksidenteng hindi maiwasan dahil sa hindi pagbibigayan at ang garapal na panghoholdap kahit na mismo ng mga tinaguriang pag-asa ng bayan.

Huling ikot na lang at gagarahe na sila Mang Eduardo ngunit isa nanaman sa mga nakakasawang eksena ang mismong naganap sa kaniyang tabi.

Alas siete ng gabi habang tayuan ang minamaneho niyang bus, isang binatilyo ang ninanakawan ng isang lalake habang ang kasama nito'y nanggigigil na pinaparamdam ang balisong sa tagiliran ng biktima. Nagkatinginan sila ng binatilyo sa salamin at doon niya nakita ang maluha-luha at takot na takot na itsura ng binatang humihingi sa kaniya ng tulong.

"Manong tulungan niyo naman ako."

Eksakto namang may tila matitinong pulis na nagpapatrolya sa parehong lugar na nakapansin sa senyas ni Mang Eduardo kung kaya agad na nahuli ang mga magnanakaw.

"Salamat sa tulong niyo at nahuli namin ang mga ito.", matigas at tila mapagmataas na sagot ng pulis na sumaklolo.

"Boss! Apat lang 'yan, may ilan pa dito sa likod ng bus ko.", pabulong na sagot ni Mang Eduardo.

"Pare, wala tayong pruweba kung sakali mang totoo 'yang hinala mo. Sige na, ibyahe mo na yan at malaking abala na ang naidulot niyan.", sagot naman ng isa pang walang interes na pulis sakanya.

Marahil tapos na para sa lahat ang eksena at sa takot ng ibang pasahero'y naubos na ang mga nakatayo sa loob ng bus. Pero alam ni Mang Eduardo ang posibleng maging susunod na eksena sa entabladong ito kung saan siya naman ngayon ang bida. Namumuo ang kaniyang malalamig na pawis at ng hanapin niya ang kaniyang kundoktor ay nakatayo ito sa kabilang pintuan sa gitna ng bus.

"Konti pa, malapit narin kami sa garahe.. Konti nalang..", Pabulong na inuulit-ulit ni Mang Eduardo habang pasimpleng sumisilip sa salamin.

Paghinto nila ng St. James sa Mindanao Avenue ay tumayo na ang mga inaasahang kalalakihan ni Mang Eduardo. Umakma ang mga itong bubunot na kaniya namang sinabayan ng pagbunot ng tubong nasa tabi ng kaniyang upuan. Gulat man ang tatlong nais bumawi kay Mang Eduardo dahil sa pagkakabulilyaso ng kanilang plano, isa naman sa kanilang kasamahan ang nagkunwaring pasaherong pasakay ang siyang nakaksak kay Mang Eduardo...

"Bakit ba kasi kailngan pang gawin ni Eduardo yang pagpapakabayani niya. Ilang dekada na siyang nasa larangan ngayon niya pa naisipang maging bida.", malungkot ngunit pabirong binanggit ng operator na may hawak sa kanila.

"Baka naman kailangan na talaga ng pagbabago sa EDSA.", mahinang tugon naman ng kundoktor na huli niyang nakasama.

What is an Educated Man?

If you accidentally opened this by any chance and expecting to read something story / poem like, then you might as well head back. This is just the exam I had earlier.

Yes, I still have minor subjects..

If you're still reading this, then thanks. Well, this is my idea of an Educated Man...

What is an Educated Man?

Is it the way he looks? The way he stands? Or perhaps the way he speaks?

As I see it, society's idea of an Educated Man is someone who has finished their studies. Someone who owns/runs a well known company or perhaps someone who has an established status in life.

Well, why would anyone think of any different? The term "Educated Man" has educate as its keyword.

For me? An Educated Man could never be defined by those things. Who cares if you have that college degree? Who cares if you're rich? An Educated Man for me could be someone who lives under the bridge!

I know that some if not all of you have witnessed known people (not only in television but even someone who has that position in an organization you belong to) looked down on people who they thought was "out of their league". It's very common especially in establishments. So do you see them as an Educated Man?

In my own opinion, I think an Educated Man should have this 2 R.

The 2 R of an Educated Man

1. Respect - I'm not talking about the respect given to him/her but the respect he/she gives to others. A person who knows how to respect people no matter what status they have in life is definitely an Educated Man and the respect given to him is just a bonus by portraying that attitude.

"Respect is earned and is not given just because of the status you have in life"

2. Responsibility - They are the ones who acts responsibly in every task assigned or decisions they come up with. Have you ever seen an Educated Man who doesn't have any idea how to value their time, environment or their subordinates?

I know our ideas and beliefs might differ but for me, this is how I view an Educated Man.

So for the conclusion, I'd say that an Educated Man can only be defined by the values they portray.

Sa dinami-dami ba naman kasi ng pwedeng mahalin bakit kasi siya pa napili mo!? Matagal ka na naming binalaan 'di ba? Bakit hindi ka nakinig!? Ano pang magagawa natin sa sitwasyon mo ngayon!?

"Ma, nandito na 'to.. Sana matulungan niyo nalang ako..."

Gabi ng huwebes, nakita muli ni Andrew si Jhen sa na nakatambay sa gilid ng kalsada malapit sa bahay nila. Namumugto ang mga mata nito at balisa na tila ba may hindi mawaring problema. Si Jhen ang babaeng matagal ng iniibig nitong si Andrew subalit hindi siya maka porma sa dalaga sapagkat lagi naman nitong kasama ang walang kwenta nitong nobyo. Sa ilang araw na tila paulit-ulit na eksenang sa mga kwento lamang naitatala, ngayong gabi nagkaroon ng lakas ng loob si Andrew upang lapitan ang dalaga.

"This is my chance! Ilang taon narin akong kabado na baka bastedin ako pero malabo ng maulit ang ganitong pagkakataon. Kailangang makausap ko na si Jhen."

"Hi, pwede bang tumabi sa'yo?"

Makalipas ang ilang segundong walang imik ay itinuring na ito ni Andrew bilang pag payag sa kanyang hiling. Huminga siya ng malalim at sinubukang kumustahin ang dalaga.

"Kumusta ka na? Anong proble-..."

"Manahimik ka nga! Sino bang nagsabi sa'yong lumapit ka? Hindi naman ako pumayag diba!?"

Muling bumuhos ang damdamin sa mata ng dalaga at hindi na nito napigilan pang umiyak. May kalakasan ang pag-iyak nito kung kaya nataranta si Andrew dahil may mga tao rin namang dumaraan lalo na't oras ito ng paglabas ng mga nagkalat na kabataan. Naisipan niyang tumakbo o lumayo na lamang sa takot na baka siya pa ang mapag-initan ng mga saksi sa pag-iyak ng dalaga ngunit muli nitong pinilit patatagin ang nararamdaman.

"Hindi pwede! Eto na ang aking huling pagkakataon... Dapat maging maayos ang lahat...", bulong ni Andrew sa sarili.

"Hindi mo ba naalala nung mga bata tayo, tayo daw ang bagay na magkatuluyan?", biglang singit ni Andrew sa patuloy na pag-iyak ng dalaga. "Hindi ba noon pa nga tayo ang madalas magkasama? Sa mga outing, recess kahit pa nga nung nadapa ka malapit sa clinic eh."

Unti-unting tumahan ang dalaga at tila nakikinig na lamang ito sa kwentong sinasambit ni Andrew. Nabuhayan ng loob si Andrew at pinagpatuloy pa ang pagkukwento.

"Naalala mo pa ba nung umamin ako sa iyo na gusto kita? At ang natanggap ko mula sa'yo ay isang malakas na..."

Sa sobrang pagkabigla ay napahandusay siya sa lakas ng suntok ni Jhen sa kanyang mukha. Nagulat si Andrew na tila nahihilo pa ng ayusin muli nito ang kaniyang pagkakaupo. Naging tahimik ang hangin sa pagitan ng dalawang magkaibigan. Dahan-dahan ngunit hindi kalakasan, tumawa ang dalaga. Unti-unti ngunit tila pigil hanggang sa pareho na silang nagtatawanan.

"Naalala mo parin 'yon? Alam mo naman ang sitwasyon natin. Magkaibigan lang talaga tayo.", pabulong ngunit malinaw na sinambit ni Jhen

"Alam ko naman na may pag-asa tayo eh. At sa nakikita ko sa sitwasyon mo ngayon, pwedeng ako ang maging kasagutan upang hindi na muli pang pumatak ang mga luha sa mga mata mo."

Punong-puno ng kumpiyansa ang binata. Ngayon lamang nito naramdaman ang lakas ng loob na tila ba nailubog na ng agiw sa kanyang kalooban.

"Mahal ko si Jake. Siya lang ang lalaking mamahalin ko."

"Pero niloloko ka lang niya at alam kong alam mo rin iyon!"

"Wala kang pakialam kung sinong mamahalin ko! Hindi mo ako maiintindihan!"

Ilang maaanghang na salita pa ang kumawala sa hawla ng dalawa ng umakma ng uuwi ang dalaga. Tumayo ito sa kanilang kinauupuan at dali-daling pinilit ng umalis ngunit agad naman itong hinabol ni Andrew at mula sa likuran ay niyakap nito si Jhen.

"Mahal na mahal kita. Iyon na lamang ang pinanghahawakan ko. Sana kahit 'yun nalang ang itira mo sa akin. Ang karapatang mahalin ka."

Papatak na sana ang mga luha ni Andrew ng may dumamping matamis na sampal sa kanyang mga pisngi mula sa sinisinta bago ito tuluyang umalis.

Pagkatapos ng insindente'y naging tahimik ang gabi ni Andrew. Malalim ang iniisip at tulalang nakatutok sa madilim na kalangitan. Habang patuloy ang mga madidilim na sandali ay naka tanggap ng isang mensahe si Andrew. Wala pa sana siyang planong kuning ang cellphone sa lamesita subalit napansin nitong si Jhen pala ang nagtext...

"Pasensya ka na ha? Hindi talaga pwede eh.
Malay mo sa susunod na buhay pwede na tayo.
Salamat nalang."

Sa hindi malamang dahilan ay tila kinilabutan si Andrew sa kaniyang nabasa kung kaya't nagmamadali itong tumungo sa bahay nila Jhen. Tumawag siya mula sa labas ngunit walang sumasagot o nagbubukas ng pinto ng bahay. Sinilip niya ang magkabilang gilid ng bahay at napansing bukas ang isang parte ng bahay. Kahit alam nitong pinagbabawal ang pagpasok ng walang pahintulot ay sinugod na niya ang bahay ng sinisinta at mula sa loob ay hinanap ang kwartong pinanggagalingan ng ilaw. Nang makita niya ang nasabing pinto ay sinipa niya agad ito upang mabuksan.

Gulat man ay napansin agad ni Andrew ang hawak ng dalaga. Isang lumang kwarentay singko na nakabalot pa sa isang transaparent na plastik. Ito'y nakatutok sa batok ng kasintahan ni Jhen habang nakayakap ito sakanya at bago pa makapag salita ang dalawang lalaki ay kinalabit na ni Jhen ang gatilyo.

Kasabay ng pag agos ng dugo na humalo sa tubig mula sa banyo kung saan ngyari ang pagpapakamatay ng isang dalaga'y naabutan nila si Andrew. Tulala at kasama ng dalawa sa banyo kung saan naganap ang pagkitil sa sariling buhay.
