Apple iPhone 5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S III: Which Is Better for Business?

When Apple announced the latest version of its popular smartphone, the iPhone 5, CEO Tim Cook proclaimed that their new device was the best iPhone the company has ever made. But is it the best phone on the market right now for business owners?

Though it's a few months old, the Samsung Galaxy S III is still a hot phone thanks to its multi-carrier availability, large and beautiful display, fast 4G LTE capability, and robust performance. The iPhone 5 can boast all of that and more.

We've done a side-by-side comparison of both phones to determine which one business owners should want to consider. Here's what we found:

Display: Is bigger better?
The iPhone 5 finally broke the mold and expanded to 4 inches, up from 3.5. The resolution went up accordingly, and now you can enjoy 1136 x 640 pixels in the Retina display. Compared to many Android phones, including the 4.8-ich Galaxy S III, 4 inches feels a little on the small size these days. That can be a good or bad thing, depending on how much screen you want.

For some, 4.8 inches is too big and more difficult to use one-handed. Four inches is stretching it, especially in that department. However, the almost (but not quite) 16:9 aspect ratio means the iPhone 5 is narrow compared to its height. The larger size also means fitting more on the screen, which can be a bonus for busy business owners.

The iPhone's Retina display has a resolution, or pixel density, of 326 pixels per inch versus the GSIII's 306 ppi density. Technically, the iPhone's density is better, but not by so much that most people will be able to tell by looking.

Cameras: Front-facing HD, better low-light performance
Where the iPhone 5 gives the GSIII real competition is with its camera. Apple upped the ante with its rear-facing 8-megapixel camera, adding a dynamic low-light mode and speeding up the picture-taking process. The GSIII's rear camera (also 8 megapixels) is fine but doesn't always perform well -- especially in low light.

In front, the iPhone 5 finally has an HD camera (1.2 megapixels) that can record video up to 720p. This should make FaceTime chats even better and clearer. The Galaxy's front camera is 1.9 megapixels and also capable of 720p video.

Performance: Known unknowns
Apple claims its new A6 processor chip is twice as powerful as the A5 in the iPhone 4S. That means better, richer gameplay and more complex apps down the line. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S III's dual-core chip handily beat the iPhone 4S in performance benchmarks. It remains to be seen if the A6 offers as good or better performance.

One aspect that could keep the Galaxy on top is that Samsung's phone has 2GB of RAM. The iPhone 4S had only 512MB when most phones had at least 1GB. Apple doesn't list it on the Apple website, but the iPhone 5 probably has 1GB.

Apple claims that users can expect eight hours of battery life from the iPhone 5, even with the LTE capability, which traditionally draws a lot of power. The GSIII gets between eight and 12 hours depending on the usage and tweaks. Plus, if you need to go a super-long time without charging up, it's possible to carry and swap out an extra battery.

Operating System: iOS 6 vs. Android 4
A new iPhone means a new iOS, and version 6 adds a lot of useful features. It also takes away a few things, such as Google Maps and the YouTube app.
Even though the iPhone 5's screen is bigger, apps will still work fine. Until developers update them, older apps will show in a letterbox-esque mode with black bars so you won't see any stretching or distortion. Apple apps are already optimized for the larger, longer display.

Siri also gets an upgrade in this version, which makes her a more useful companion when searching for sports scores or movies. Since the iPhone now has three mics, she'll be able to understand you better, especially when on the road in noisy areas.

The Galaxy S III is still running Android 4.0, which is one version behind the very latest from Google. The upgrade is coming and will bring with it Google Now and other Jelly Bean features. But even with Samsung's S Voice with the GSIII, it's often not as useful as Apple's Siri.

Price: Are they worth it?
The iPhone 5 starts at $199 for the 16GB version, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB with a two-year contract.

Galaxy S III pricing starts out at $199 for 16GB with a contract on most carriers (T-Mobile costs more), but the carriers offering the 32GB version usually have it at $249, $50 less than the iPhone 5. There's no 64GB version of the GSIII in the U.S.

Bottom line: No clear winner
Both the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S III have features that appeal to business owners with a range of mobile needs. Some will prefer the iPhone for the benefits of iOS and the huge app selection, the more compact design, or even better cameras. Others will choose the Samsung's GSIII for the bigger display, expandable memory, replaceable battery or less restrictive operating system.

The great reason of earthquake in Nepal on 9/18/2011

A big shock of Earthquake was felt in Nepal today at around 6:25pm. According to media it was measured to be 6.8 scale strong quake. At the quake I was in my office and about to leave the office. Inside my office building I was on chair and besides my chair there was a curtain which started to swing rapidly . Still I was in confusion that Is it quake or something else. Accordingly I heard People shouting outside without looking outside I ran quickly downward without shoes. Still I saw wires and trees swing heavily outside.

At the time of posting this post, consequences found around kathmandu and in Nepal are:
3 People dead at spot in Kathmandu at lainchor due to wall fallen of British Council.

Wall Breakdown in Hadigaun Kathmandu

People have claimed that the tremor was felt in Pokhara and as far as Dang and Nepalgunj of western Nepal.

It has been learnt that some houses have been destroyed in the eastern hilly districts. No casualty has been reported yet.

Traffic on the roads came to a standstill briefly as terrified residents and office goers poured out into the streets. Mobile networks were jammed as anxious people frantically tried to call their loved ones.

It has been reported that three persons have been injured as the wall of the British Embassy to Nepal crumbled in Lainchaur. One person broke his leg in Boudhha while jumping to ground from a house.

At least two persons have been admitted at a hospital in Chabahil due to giddiness and headache following the quake.

About the Actor

Charlie Chaplin was one of the greatest and widely loved silent movie stars. From “Easy Street” (1917) to “Modern Times” (1936), he made many of the funniest and most popular films of his time. He was best known for his character, the naive and lovable Little Tramp. The Little Tramp, a well meaning man in a raggedy suit with cane, always found himself wobbling into awkward situations and miraculously wobbling away. More than any other figure, it is this kind-hearted character that we associate with the time before the talkies.

Born in London in 1889, Chaplin first visited America with a theater company in 1907. Appearing as “Billy” in the play “Sherlock Holmes”, the young Chaplin toured the country twice. On his second tour, he met Mack Sennett and was signed to Keystone Studios to act in films. In 1914 Chaplin made his first one-reeler, “Making a Living”. That same year he made thirty-four more short films, including “Caught in a Cabaret”, “Caught in the Rain”, “The Face on the Bar-Room Floor”, and “His Trysting Place”. These early silent shorts allowed very little time for anything but physical comedy, and Chaplin was a master at it.

Chaplin’s slapstick acrobatics made him famous, but the subtleties of his acting made him great. While Harold Lloyd played the daredevil, hanging from clocks, and Buster Keaton maneuvered through surreal and complex situations, Chaplin concerned himself with improvisation. For Chaplin, the best way to locate the humor or pathos of a situation was to create an environment and walk around it until something natural happened. The concern of early theater and film was to simply keep the audience’s attention through overdramatic acting that exaggerated emotions, but Chaplin saw in film an opportunity to control the environment enough to allow subtlety to come through.

Chaplin was known as one of the most demanding men in Hollywood. Regardless of the size the part, Chaplin walked each actor through every scene. Chaplin knew that a successful scene was not simply about the star, but about everyone on the screen. He demanded that the entire cast work together in every performance. Without this unity he could not express the subtlety of character that was so important to him. The only way to achieve that unity was to maintain complete control over every scene. This constant attention to detail ran many features over-time and over-budget, but the public reaction assured him and the studios that what he was doing worked. As his popularity increased he took more liberties with filming. Movies such as his 1925 hit, “The Gold Rush”, demanded unending reworking of scenes and rebuilding of sets.

Chaplin typically improvised his story in front of the camera with only a basic framework of a script. He shot and printed hundreds of takes when making a movie, each one a little experimental variation. While this method was unorthodox, because of the expense and inefficiency, it provided lively and spontaneous footage. Taking what he learned from the footage, Chaplin would often completely reorganize a scene. It was not uncommon for him to decide half-way through a film that an actor wasn’t working and start over with someone new. Many actors found the constant takes and uncertainty grueling, but always went along because they knew they were working for a master.

Though Chaplin is of the silent movie era, we see his achievements carried through in the films of today. With the advent of the feature-length talkies, the need for more subtle acting became apparent. To maintain the audience’s attention throughout a six-reel film, an actor needed to move beyond constant slapstick. Chaplin had demanded this depth long before anyone else. His rigor and concern for the processes of acting and directing made his films great and led the way to a new, more sophisticated, cinema.

The history of the United States traditionally starts with the Declaration of Independence in the year 1776, but its territory was occupied first by the Native Americans since prehistoric times and then also byEuropean colonists who followed the voyages of Christopher Columbus starting in 1492. The largest settlements were by the English on the East Coast, starting in 1607. By the 1770s the Thirteen Coloniescontained two and half million people, were prosperous, and had developed their own political and legal systems. The British government's threat to American self-government led to war in 1775 and the Declaration of Independence in 1776. With major military and financial support from France, the patriots won the American Revolution. In 1789 the Constitution became the basis for the United States federal government, with war hero George Washington as the first president. The young nation continued to struggle with the scope of central government and with European influence, creating the first political parties in the 1790s, and fighting a second war for independence in 1812.

U.S. territory expanded westward across the continent, brushing aside Native Americans and Mexico, and overcoming modernizers who wanted to deepen the economy rather than expand the geography. Slavery of Africans was abolished in the North, but heavy world demand for cotton let it flourish in the Southern states. The 1860 election of Abraham Lincoln calling for no more expansion of slavery triggered a crisis as elevenslave states seceded to found the Confederate States of America in 1861. The bloody American Civil War(1861–65) redefined the nation and remains the central iconic event. The South was defeated and, in theReconstruction era, the U.S. ended slavery, extended rights to African Americans, and readmitted secessionist states with loyal governments. The national government was much stronger, and it now had the explicit duty to protect individuals. Reconstruction was rolled back by the white South, leaving the blacks in a world of Jim Crow political, social and economic inferiority. The entire South remained poor while the North and West grew rapidly.

Thanks to an outburst of entrepreneurship in the North and the arrival of millions of immigrant workers from Europe, the U.S. became the leading industrialized power by 1900. Disgust with corruption, waste, and traditional politics stimulated the Progressive movement, 1890s-1920s, which pushed for reform in industry and politics and put into the Constitution women's suffrage and Prohibition of alcohol (the latter repealed in 1933). Initially neutral in World War I, the U.S. declared war on Germany in 1917, and funded the Allied victory. The nation refused to follow President Woodrow Wilson's leadership and never joined the League of Nations. After a prosperous decade in the 1920s the Wall Street Crash of 1929 marked the onset of the decade-long world-wide Great Depression. A political realignment expelled the Republicans from power and installed Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt and his elaborate and expensive New Deal programs for relief, recovery, and reform. Roosevelt's Democratic coalition, comprising ethnics in the north, labor unions, big-city machines, intellectuals, and the white South, dominated national politics into the 1960s. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, the U.S. entered World War II alongside the Allies and helped defeat Nazi Germany in Europe and, with the detonation of newly-invented atomic bombs, Japan in Asia and the Pacific.

The Soviet Union and the U.S. emerged as opposing superpowers after the war and began the Cold War confronting indirectly in an arms race, the Space Race, and intervention in Europe and eastern Asia. Liberalism reflected in the civil rights movement and opposition to war in Vietnam peaked in the 1960s–70s before giving way to conservatism in the early 1980s. The Cold War ended when the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, leaving the U.S. to prosper in the booming Information Age economy that was boosted, at least in part, by information technology. International conflict and economic uncertainty heightened by 2001 with the September 11 attacks and subsequent War on Terror and the late-2000s recession.

Founded in February 2004, Facebook is a social utility that helps people communicate more efficiently with their friends, family and coworkers. The company develops technologies that facilitate the sharing of information through the social graph, the digital mapping of people's real-world social connections. Anyone can sign up for Facebook and interact with the people they know in a trusted environment. Facebook is a part of millions of people’s lives and half of the users return daily.

A growing number of students at British universities known as "Facebook refusenicks" are boycotting the social networking site - but with consequences, says our student writer

Facebook dominated media headlines last year but despite the hype, a growing number of students around the world are refusing to create accounts amid concerns that the social networking phenomenon has come at the expense of users' privacy. Adding more fuel to the fire, website creator Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed that Facebook will be releasing users’ details to advertisers that want to target specific genders and age groups.

But an act of rebellion, which finds its roots in a desire for traditional means of communication, has led to a further boycott of Facebook among students at British universities. With student event promoters turning their hands to online marketing and disregarding traditional mediums such as posters and flyers, non-Facebook users are expressing their concerns at being left out.

Now known as "Facebook refusenicks", those not joining the online network community have been finding themselves out of the loop when it comes to events and other student socials, simply because they don’t have access to the information. Traditional student club heads continue to use established forms of communication media like flyers, but these have been given the cold shoulder by student advertisers wishing to cut costs.

“I felt like a complete stranger after my fresher’s week,” says Natasha McEwen, 18, studying marketing at Brunel University. “I had to find out from other students what nights were being held, and still do.” Jamie Curtis, a second year English student at York, also has the same problem. He said: “What happened to the good old posters and flyers? Now it’s just Facebook this, Facebook that. I’m sick of it, which is why I refuse to create a profile.”

Originally a social networking website for US high schools and university students, Facebook opened its doors to the public in 2006 and now has over 50 million users. According to alexa.com, which tracks web traffic, 8.1 per cent of Facebook users are from the UK and it is the seventh most trafficked website in the world.

And it’s not just current students that are turning the other cheek. The decision to go public has sparked anger among many of Facebook’s graduate users who originally joined the website for its privacy based structure, small student community and to keep contact with fellow graduates. Now the social networking phenomenon is also broadcasting profiles on the popular search engine Google.com – adding more fuel to the anti-Facebook fire.

But university club and events promoters are becoming increasingly dependent on reaching their target audience through electronic invitations via social networking websites - with Facebook being the popular choice of such sites, according to Sumaer Amar, an events organiser, who runs Sumaer & Co, a company that provides students in the North of England with club, R&B and costume themed nights,

“Promoters generally use Facebook to promote their nights because it’s fast, easy and free,” explains Sumaer, who is also studying for a business degree at Stephenson College, Durham University. “With the RSVP function [on Facebook] they also let us [promoters] know what kind of a turnout to expect.”

Amar is also able to locate students at specific universities, add details of the event along with pictures, videos and contact details, should anyone have an enquiry. Users can reserve a ticket and also leave comments. The application also sends the user a reminder on the day of the event.

One group, “IBIZA NYE LASH @ LARRY’S – LINKIN PARK DJ-ING!!!,” has already got 130 confirmed guests. 1,958 people are on the ‘not attending’ list and a further 217 people are unsure. “What do we do with tickets for this?” writes one confirmed partygoer. “In Cape Town... Sorry I can’t make it,” writes another, amid dozens of party snaps and comments from other attending/non-attending users.

But it’s not only the parties that Facebook refusenicks are missing out on.

It’s the special offers too. In another events group, “FOR3IGN V CIRCUS NYE!” revellers can put themselves on the guest list by confirming their attendance or by messaging DJ drag queen, Jodie Harsh, directly.

Another group, “Newcastle & Northumbria Uni – Student DRINK Delivery Service,” offers students a selection of discounted drinks, just for being Facebook users. All students need to do is to join the group and mention ‘Facebook = 10%’ in the subject line of the email order form, and they get a 10 per cent discount off their entire delivery.

It's not just companies targeting students that are getting in on the game. So confident are Blackberry that the social networking website is here to stay, their latest model, the Pearl 8120, comes complete with a Facebook application where its owner can access their profile via the handset.

“I think people who aren’t on Facebook are missing out,” says Berivan Mustafa, 19, studying law at the University of Warwick. “I joined Facebook because it is a free way to communicate with friends and family.”

So what of the Facebook refusenicks?

Bam Adeshina, another student promoter, believes that word-of-mouth is a promoter’s most powerful advertising tool, and that non-Facebookers will eventually hear of any major events by friends on campus or in lectures. “A promoter who relies solely on Facebook shouldn’t expect a good turnout,” says Adeshina. I wouldn’t say that these people get left out. The phrase, ‘it’s a small world,’ really does apply to Facebook. Students who aren’t keen to join an online community will eventually hear about the event from a friend.”

Natasha McEwen doesn’t agree. She said: “What if my friends don’t like the event but I do? Who will tell me then? I don’t believe in creating an account just to fit in. I deleted mine before I started university. I only had it for two days and already, I was Face-bored!”

The history of Nepal is characterized by its isolated position in the Himalayas and its two neighbors, India and China.
Due to the arrival of disparate settler groups from outside through the ages, it is now a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-lingual country. . Central Nepal was split in three kingdoms from the 15th century until the 18th century, when it was unified under the Shah monarchy. The national language of Nepal is called 'Nepali', a name given - long after unification of Nepal - to the language called Khas Kura.
Nepal experienced a failed struggle for democracy in the 20th century. During the 1990s and until 2008, the country was in civil strife. A peace treaty was signed in 2008 and elections were held in the same year.
Many of the ills of Nepal have been blamed on the royal family of Nepal. In a historical vote for the election of the constituent assembly, Nepalis voted to oust the monarchy in Nepal. In June 2008, Nepalis ousted the royal household. Nepal was formally renamed the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal when it became a federal republic.

One of the early polities of South Asia was that of the Shakya clan, whose capital was Kapilvastu,Nepal. Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, Siddharta Gautama (563–483 BCE), who renounced his royalty to lead an ascetic life and came to be known as the Buddha ("the enlightened one") was born to the Shakya king Sudhodhana. After finding enlightenment, Lord Gautama Buddha returned to his home place Kapilavastu to teach his wife Yasodhara what he had learned. Buddha and his disciple Ananda are said to have visited the Kathmandu Valley and stayed for some time in Patan.

History of Nepal

Before Nepal's emergence as a nation in the latter half of the 18th century, the designation 'Nepal' was largely applied only to the Kathmandu Valley and its surroundings. Thus, up to the unification of the country, Nepal's recorded history is largely that of the Kathmandu Valley. References to Nepal in the Mahabharata epic, in Puranas and in Buddhist and Jaina scriptures establish the country's antiquity as an independent political and territorial entity. The oldest Vamshavali or chronicle, the Gopalarajavamsavali, was copied from older manuscripts during the late 14th century, is a fairly reliable basis for Nepal's ancient history. The Vamshavalis mention the rule of several dynasties the Gopalas, the Abhiras and the Kiratas—over a stretch of millennia. However, no historical evidence exists for the rule of these legendary dynasties. The documented history of Nepal begins with the Changu Narayan temple inscription of King Manadeva I (c. 464-505 AD) of the Lichavi dynasty.

After decades of rivalry between the medieval kingdoms, modern Nepal was created in the latter half of the 18th century, when Prithvi Narayan Shah, the ruler of the small principality ofGorkha, formed a unified country from a number of independent hill states. Prithvi Narayan Shah dedicated himself at an early age to the conquest of the Kathmandu Valley and the creation of a single state, which he achieved in 1768.

The country was frequently called the Gorkha Kingdom. It is a misconception that the Gurkhas took their name from the Gorkha region of Nepal; actually, the region was given its name after the Gurkhas had established their control of these areas. The Gurkha, also spelled Gorkha, are people from Nepal who take their name from the legendary 8th-century Hindu warrior-saint Guru Gorakhnath. Gurkhas claim descent from the Hindu Rajputs andBrahmins of Northern India, who entered modern Nepal from the west.
