Party Time! G's 1st Birthday!

We were lucky to celebrate our baby boy turning 1 with all the people that Love him!

And he is one lucky boy to have so many people that care about him!

We celebrated with a Carnival Theme at The Locker Room.

I handmade his outfit for the party. I wanted something fun and unique that wouldn't cost a lot of money!

I even made myself a matching bow and scarf... I didn't want to waste the fabric :)

We were lucky to have Nick's Parents, Sister and Cousin come up for the weekend

and My Aunt, Uncle and Cousins from Chicago came down.

And if you remember back in June when we traveled to North Carolina for my Best Friend Jamie's Wedding . This time she flew in to spend 4 days with us for G's Big Day! We were also lucky to have our best friend Drew come in from Indy for a few days!

The party was Great! We had Carnival style Food
Funnel Cake, Corn Dogs, Hot Dogs, Trail Mix, Peanuts....

We had Cupcakes and Cakes for dessert... and of course Greyson got to have a cake for himself.

He wasn't too messy. and he is not a fan of a mess on his hands.
There was not a lot of Carnival Games like I planned b/c Greyson was the only kid there.
But we did set up his Train/Roller Coaster which he had a blast!

We feel so blessed to have so many people that have helped us get through this 1st year. We could not have done it without them.

Wow...Well... We Made it a Year!

The past year has been

Fun.

Exhausting.

Special.

Tiring.

Joyful.

Amazing.

Well I guess at 12 months we don't have a baby anymore! G is learning and exploring more and more each day! He is always figuring out ways to do new things.

He is a climber and a Runner.

He is a Thinker and a Do'er

He is one of the happiest kids I know.

He is Funny and Loves to Laugh.

He Loves to Shoot Hoops.. Anywhere

And is the cutest little naked boy ever!

Hes A Cuddlier at times

And has become such a Little Man

He is growing so big! He's 30in Tall and 23 lbs.

This Past Year has been Great. And Nick and I can't wait for what is yet to come.

Greyson is fortunate to have 3 amazing sets of grandparents to Spoil him
and 3 Sets of Great Grandparents to LOVE him.
Lucky to have 5 Aunts that care more for him then he will ever know
An Amazing group of the Locker Room ~~Staff~~ Family that Watches him, plays with him
and cares about him.
And Blessed to have Uncles to teach him and be there for him!

A Look Back at the Holidays

Wow. The Holidays have come and gone....Already!
They seemed to come upon us so quick and in a blink of an eye they were gone.

This year was a little different for us. We added G to the mix. But what do you do to celebrate Christmas with a child who doesn't understand Christmas or Santa or who really doesn't understand toys.

We decided to only get G a couple things. He was going to be getting lots of presents from everyone else and well he likes the paper more than the toys!

Nick was working 3rd shift Christmas eve so we spent some time at My Mom's side of the family and did presents with them. He headed to work and Greyson and I headed home.

Christmas Greyson and I woke up and watched some of the Disney Parade. He LOVES Mickey Mouse and Music so it was perfect then we headed off to my aunt's for Christmas with my Dad's side. Nick got a nap in at my sisters and met us there for brunch!

He was equally spoiled with all the families. He really started to get the hang of unwrapping the presents and I think is going to be a pro when his birthday comes!

He got a Roller Coaster from The Elgers... It was a treat to watch!

10 Month Updates

Wow.. So much has changed for our 10 Month update! Greyson has become such a little man. I love watching him learn new things. He carefully watches everything you do and always wants to try on his own.

Hes Walking... ~~Finally~~ and is becoming much more of a handful. He was taking a couple steps then crawling for about a week; then decided he could walk and now he's unstoppable.

(First Walking Day!)

I'm impressed with how good his walking has gotten in a the last week. The other day he walked under the table at The Locker Room; ducked under the whole thing and never fell down. He looks like a drunk Frankenstein most days but I love it! He even likes to carry things around the house. Caught him carrying my purse around the house... and he loves to carry derby's leash around. It's such a tease for poor derby.

10 months has brought us such a great sleeper. He tends to go down around 8/8:30pm and sleep until 7:30-8am. Some days he has to be out late with me at work or when our day runs late and he will go down 9-9:30 but still sleeps just as long. He has been a great napper! When were home he will lay down around 10-10:30 and has been sleeping anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours. He usually naps in the afternoon as well but that is not a set time. Depends on where we are, how hard he has been playing ect.

I am still impressed at how well he will fall asleep. Most nights we just lay him in bed with a blankie and Sammie ( his seahorse) and he will go to sleep on his own. Sammie has been a lifesaver on many occasions and helps him sleep wherever he is. If your every looking for a present for a baby I highly recommend it!

He still eats really well and eats mainly "people food". He still eats baby food; on occasion. But its nice he eats alot of what we eat so we can share with him when we are out.

When he is hanging out and helping at The Locker Room he loves to munch on cucumber, green pepper, cheese, and tomatoes. He really loves grilled cheese with avocado!
He has been loving trying to feed himself with the spoon! And can succeed on occasion!
But it is the cutest thing to watch him try and learn!

It helps his teeth are coming in! We haven't had any serious teething issues

But he has his 2 on the bottom.. and now has 3 popping through on the top!

Still growing... But not to quickly. Wearing around 9-12 Months. Some 12 Months is too big still; which kinda stinks because I was buying clothes thinking he was growing so the 12-18 month stuff is rather big... but im sure a growth spurt is coming!

Christmas with The Paneks

We headed off to Warrensburg to spend Christmas with the Panek's since Nick was going to have to work Christmas Eve/Christmas.

It was amazing spending time with them. We got to go to the mules game and see Kates Dance, got to hang out with family from Clinton and enjoy the season.

We even got to spend some Child Free Time with Friends in the City!

Santa Breakfast at The Locker Room

This year The Locker Room hosted a Santa Breakfast the day after Thanksgiving.

Downtown Peoria has a Santa Parade the day after Thanksgiving that comes right in front of The Locker Room so it was a perfect time to have it.

The Santa Parade is the longest running parade in U.S. having its 125th Year this year.

(Just a little unknown fact for you!)

Santa was there for pictures and of course it was perfect time for Greyson to be an elf!

We had a Great Turn out for the First Year! Greyson Loved Santa.. From a far and Grandma KiKi got some great Pics!

Yup 9 months! Okay.. Well he is technically 10 Months; but since I just found this blog that I never posted but we will go with it.........

So when does Baby G stop being "baby"

Everyday he seems to get more personality. More life.

We are loving having little man in our life more and more each day. I (well we) just love watching him learn and grow. He loves to explore things, try out new and old toys, and really loves books.

He knows how to make a disaster to the living room with his toys and I now know why people have play rooms! He is a pro at throwing everything out of his toy bins to find the smallest toy at the very bottom.

We went to our 9month check up. And everything checked out well!
They did their normal Q&A that made me feel like I had the dumb kid.
Does he say ma ma ma or ba ba ba. NO
Does he wave bye. No
Does he play patty cake. No (but we don't play that so maybe ;)
Does he crawl. Ok got this one! Has been for like 4 months. And walks on everything.
Does he eat baby food. Yup! Eats "people" food!

Okay so some of the questions make you feel like your kids dumb, slow, Ect.
Others make me see he excels in other areas. I guess when they ask those things it's really about remembering everyone is different!

Since then he has waved! Only a few times but he has done it. Sometimes I think he's just so busy looking at things, exploring, and moving that he doesn't pay attention to things he can do!

No walking alone yet! But he loves to push chairs everywhere. Tall Bar chairs, dinning room chairs, baby chairs. He holds on and pushes them for fun or to get where he wants to go. When he runs out if room he walks to the other side and pushes it back. A resourceful little booger.

He really loves Derby these days! Tries to Play with him all the time. Loves to throw his bone... and play tug with his rope.

Well everyday is something new.. until next time!!

8 Month Update.. 1 Month Late

I'm a little behind... yes I know but I guess that proves how fast 8 months have flown by. I feel like it was just yesterday I was pregnant with G and now 8 months have already flown by.

I feel so lucky to have this amazing little man in my life. I can't imagine what the next 8 years are going to bring when at just 8 months he has such a big personality.

We really thought he would be walking by 8 months... I walked at 8 Months.. My sister walked at 8 Months.. so we pushed for him to walk to.. We are close.. Not there yet!

He can walk the furniture like a pro

He can play with his push walker forward, backward, one handed, and sometimes its even upside down.

He LOOOVES his walker at The Locker Room. He went from only going backwards to navigating the restaurant in a walk/run fashion. He Loves to find his way to the bar where he can reach things..

He is a GREAT Eater. Eats everything. Loves eating on his own. Everything from Pasta, Sweet Potato, Peas & Carrots, Banana, Crackers, and he LOVES Cheerios :)

Well That is it on the updates since I will be updating 9 Months this week

Trip Back to Warrensburg

A few weeks ago we packed up the car and headed to Warrensburg for the weekend.

Nick only gets One Weekend off a month which is usually used for traveling if I am able to get away. His 4 day weekend fell on UCM's Homecoming so we jumped at the chance to head back home and visit family.

Unfortunally Pops Panek was out of town but we got to hang out with Grams and Aunt Kates for a few days.

Saturday we got up and headed downtown for the Homecoming Parade. Katelyn is a Dancer at UCM so Greyson got to watch his 1st Parade and look for Aunt Kates.

He was pretty tried after the parade

Unfortunately it rained... ALOT... so we missed out on the football game and did not get to watch Aunt Kates Dance.

"Uncle Casey" is not living in Warrensburg until he moves to KC so we got to spend lots of time with him as well. Greyson was very excited to play with him!

We took advantage of Greyson getting to spend time with Grams and we headed downtown for some Fun. I played some Beer Pong.. We Danced.. and had a few drinks :)

It was such a great weekend with family & friends. Can't wait for the next!

Saturday Night Nick & I got a Parent's Night Out

Okay. So It wasn't really a Night Out. It was a Night Out to The Locker Room.

We traded in Bathtime. PJ's. Mickey Mouse. and Bottles.

For

Costumes. DJ's. and Bottles of Beer and Liquor

Since G; Late Nights at The Locker Room are pretty few and far between so I was excited to get to hang out, see people, and "experience" Late Night Locker Room.

And Occasionally brush up on my bartending skills

We had chose a 20's Theme this year and I Loved Everything about it.

Now It's not something that I could do every weekend. Getting home at 5:30am is a Little Rough when lately G has decided he likes to get up between 4-5am but I was glad I got to be there for Halloween.

Family Day Out

We finally both had a day off so we headed out to Tanner's Orchard with Greyson to walk around, purchase some delicious goodies and spend a few hours as a family.

He had a blast. There isn't tons to do for a "Baby" but he really loved the the things he could do

Not much time

I haven't done a lot of blogging lately

Just haven't had much time.

I picked up a 2nd job teaching tumbling.
Growing up my mom owned a Tumbling studio where I attended and taught at. Back in college she sold it to the local park district where my sister then took over running the program.

So since we opened The Locker Room Tab has continued to run the tumbling program and have a great Elite Cheerleading program.

This fall she needed some more teachers and Nick and I could use the extra money so twice a week I head from The L Room to teach tumbling.

Most days it is hard. I'm exhausted, and I dread going. Then I get there and I see those kids and it makes me forget all about how tired I am.
Just like with my baby boy.

There are days I know I should just be home with my baby..
There are days I know I should be at home cleaning or doing laundry.

But then there are days where a child tells me they are so happy I am their teacher Or they bring you a picture they drew at school.

And I remember even though its hard work, time consuming, and exhausting. It is something I enjoy and you have to do stuff that makes you happy.

Well I suppose I would rather have a pedi or a massage :) but maybe after next paycheck

So I haven't blogged in over a month. I know that because I never blogged about G's 8 month update. So I hope to sit down this weekend and catch up.

To be honest. The only reason this is done is I wrote it a month ago and I am finishing the last two paragraphs at work on my phone while Greyson nurses.

That Thing I Call Work...

It seems like just yesterday Tab and I got the idea and started research this venture we call The Locker Room.

I look back to a year ago and to be honest I can't believe we made it a year! Now here we are 2 1/2 years later.

I'm blessed with an amazing sister who also works another job to make ends meet but still puts in the late nights and runs on zero sleep so that I can now be home with G Man.

For those who don't know The L Room is a sports bar catering to a mix of people. We are open for lunch for the many businesses in downtown Peoria, we serve dinner and "cater" to the civic center across the street that is home to the Bradley Braves basketball team and hosts many great concerts and events. We are open late night weekends for those partiers. (and by late night I mean late night. We're open until 4am)

I have (or had since I just lost some all-stars to college graduation) an amazing staff that makes my job easier. I don't think of most of them as staff.. We are a family. It's amazing how great everyone that works for us is. We have "Family Dinners" at Restaurants or BBQs on our days off. It's amazing how lucky G is to have such great people in his life. They all Love My Son so much and I am so blessed to have so many amazing people that love him and care for him.

80's Night at the Locker Room

I have a great cliental that I enjoy building relationships with. It's a good feeling knowing when someone walks in you know what they drink, like to eat, or who their family is.

We have an amazing DJ that is far more than that. He's a friend, a maintenance man, an entertainment director, amd the brains some days :) He is an amazing guy that supports us so much! He's is an amazing Uncle to G and I don't know what it would be like to not have C in our life!

We have out trials every day. We could always have a few more customers, make a few more dollars but that is business and I'm lucky to have the support we do.

These past two years mistakes have been made but learning from them is all that matters.

I Really appreciate the friends who have traveled to Peoria to check it out. It's amazing to know that they care about us and want to see what we have done. And those people in Peoria that continue to support small businesses.

There's been ups,downs,good & bad but that is what makes life so great, you can conquer anything you want to. And I hope we continue to conquer much more in the years to come!

Wow... 7 Months old..
How does the time go so fast?

Between working.. taking care of Greyson.. and ~~trying to~~ taking care of the house I'm convinced that makes time go so fast.

Greyson is growing by the minute. And doesn't stop moving!

As you can see.. the days of taking pics on his hippo chair are few and far betweem

He's crawling everywhere... Climbs on everything.. Walks across the couch.. to the chair.. to the ottoman... to the hutch.. to the Pack n' Play.. to the Tv... You Get It, He just walks across everything.

It's only time before he is walking everywhere. We got him a new exersaucer so he could have some more playtime outside of the Pack N' Play while we were trying to get things done. He loves it so.. SCORE

G is an amazing eater! He Loves Breakfast which is usually Oatmeal with some fruit. He has eaten Waffles and loved to munch on them.

He has been doing great at Finger Foods. We still eat Baby Food (pureed/mashed foods) but have been venturing to finger foods. He LOVES LOVES LOVES Puffs... but has also been eating pieces of fruit, pieces of veggies and breads.

He is sleeping well. Bedtime is usually between 8-9. Depends on his mood/naps during the day on when he goes down. But he has been sleeping until 5-6am. Sometimes he will sleep until 7-8... which is amazing!

He has become such a little man and I love watching him explore, grow & learn. He continues to have such an amazing personality that really lights up the room.

We really are blessed to have a little monkey that loves to be around people, is so well behaved when we take him places and a genuinely good baby.

If he wasn't such a good baby, I don't know what I would do with him at work when he is there!

He is well behaved and loves to play with his toys at the Locker Room. He finally got the hang of it.. although he is only good at moving backwards :)

He really has fallen in love with Derby... He always wants to pet... or pull at Derby... Tries to Play with him.. and loves his collar.. Derby would rather have nothing to do with Greyson..

Nick and I are so blessed to have loving and caring parents who set great examples of how to live a life full of love, caring hearts, and God.

Nick and I's anniversary is approaching {Tomorrow} and our parents are also celebrating each of their's in the last 10 days.

When we were trying to pick a wedding date... 3.5 years ago we decided on the 5th.. Partly because our parents celebrate their anniversaries in the week prior.

My Dad and Shan: Aug 28th

My Mom and Mark: Aug 31st

Carol & John : Sept 4th

This year John and Carol are celebrating their 30th Wedding anniversary. What an accomplishment! They are such a great example of care and love. They have been through so much in the past year with John's accident and it's amazing to see how much they love each other!

Both of my parents have such amazing relationships built on trust, love, kindness, and God and I can only hope Nick and I can have such strong marriages as they do.

While we're speaking strong marriages. I just want to share how proud I am to not only have great examples of relationships from our parents but grandparents as well!

When Nick and I got married "almost" 3 years ago we were blessed to have amazing grandparents whom were celebrating 50 years of marriage that year.

All 3 pairs of my grandparents celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage the year we got married and I saw that as a sign of all that Nick and I can have.

6 month Stats

Wow.. It's been awhile! I have been so busy and my poor little 6 month olds updates got pushed to the back burner!

His 6 month check up was great! G is still growing like crazy!

18lb 7oz and 26.5 inches!

Pretty much the same in clothes! Hes wearing anywhere from 3-6, 6 months and 6-9 month clothes.

G loves to eat! He's been great at eating all sorts of food. His chewing is going great! We can give him pieces of food from our plates and he loves them! Well everything except potatoes! He's not fond of those.

Loves to Sit Like a Big Boy in the Carts.. and Stand wherever he can!

Sleeping at 6 months seems to have gone a little backwards. The trend the last few weeks is bed around 8... But he usually gets up around 2-5. Then wakes for the day around 7-8. I really can't wait for a non interrupted sleep again!

G loves bath time and is so big sitting and playing with toys! Keeping him sitting is a little harder now!

He's still on the move with army crawls... But He will throw in an occasional real crawl here and there.

He's so strong and is pulling himself up wherever he can! We removed the coffee table to make more room for our exploring little boy! But he still finds things to pull Himself up with! And can make a quick getaway towards Derby's food, nicks hats, or my shoes.

We are planning to get some Family Pics Taken this week... so Hopefully we will have those to update soon!

A Wedding. A Friend. and Some Fun

A few weeks ago we headed to St. Louis for a Friends Wedding.

It's nice to go to StL for things because we are able to visit friends as well.

Nick's Best Friend Brian lives in StL with their son Wade, who is 3 Months older than Greyson. We haven't seen them since May so it was great to get to visit with them in between the Wedding and Reception.

We took G to the Wedding with us

Then headed to the Hazzard's House to hang out before the reception. Brian and Jackie had a babysitter for the evening for Wade so we were able to leave Greyson with her as well!

The Boys got to play together for a while. It's so weird to see how much they both grow each time. Last night G was barely sitting up and Wade was just sitting. Now G is rolling everywhere and sitting up on his own and Wade is crawling up a storm and able to pull himself up.
I can only imagine what kind of trouble we are going to be in when they are both moving like crazy!

Parents Night Out

Well, after 5 ~~long~~ months Nick and I finally got to have a night away together!

Sure I have had a night away with the girls and he's had a night away with the boys and we have had an evening away. But now it was time for us to spend some time together.

Overnight. Just the two of us.

And what perfect time to do it with free tickets to the Cards game!

Dropped G off at Grandma and Pa Pa's

And headed out of town

We enjoyed a dinner and some drinks

Sweated our you know whats off in the 103 heat

Had a post drink at Mike Shannons outfield

Grabed some toasted raviolis to-go for a bed time snack

And "slept in" until 10.

Funny how when your with your baby all you want to do is not wake up because your so tired, but when your away you seem to wake up early; then again every hour on the hour.

Either way we enjoyed lounging around being lazy until 10 before we packed up and headed home!
