Kaun Banega Crorepati 13: Amitabh Bachchan recalls his accident on the sets of his film Coolie

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan went through a serious accident about 40 years ago on the sets of his film Coolie in Bangalore. Amitabh was injured during a fight sequence with Puneet Issar. The accident was so severe that the actor suffered from serious internal injuries. He was also declared clinically dead for a couple of minutes.

In the recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 13, the megastar opened up about the incident. The episode began with Additi Gupta, who plays Dr Deepika in the Sony TV show Dhadkan, requesting Big B to let her check his pulse. While checking, Additi gets confused as she was unable to detect his pulse. She says, "Aap Ki pulse kyu nahi aarahi hai (Why can't I feel your pulse)?" Replying to this, Amitabh Bachchan reveals that he doesn't have a pulse.

The actor said revealed that he had met with an accident in 1982 on the sets of Coolie and was hospitalised. During his treatment, Amitabh went through different surgeries due to which, the doctors had to cut his wrist near where the pulse is checked every half an hour to remove blood. This is the reason of his pulse is not detectable.

Filmmaker Karan Johar's directorial Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham celebrated its 20th anniversary of release on December 14. The film, which first released two decades ago, has since become ingrained in our popular culture.

On Tuesday, Kajol, the film's lead actress, and director Karan Johar were joined by Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor to commemorate the film's two-decade anniversary. Actor Tiger Shroff is the most recent to join the bandwagon. While Alia and Janhvi tried to imitate Kareena Kapoor Khan's character 'Poo' from the film, Tiger impressed everyone with his dance moves that matched Rohan Raichand, who was played by Hrithik Roshan in the film.

Happy Birthday Riteish Deshmukh: When Shah Rukh Khan told this talented actor, “I am ready to MARRY you”

Riteish Deshmukh celebrates his 43rd birthday today. The actor is known for his comic roles and his performances in films like Masti (2004), Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005), Bluffmaster (2005), Apna Sapna Money Money (2006), Heyy Babyy (2007), and in Dhamaal and Housefull series have been much appreciated. In recent times, he also surprised viewers with his villainous performances in Ek Villain (2014) and Marjaavaan (2019), and with his action-packed avatar in the Marathi super-hit, Lai Bhaari (2014). His chemistry with superstar Akshay Kumar is well known and both have acted in several films together. However, his bond with Shah Rukh is something that is not in public knowledge. A few months back, however, Riteish opened up about an interesting anecdote revolving around SRK for the first time.

2 months ago, while talking to a digital page, Riteish, for the first time, shared about the time when the iPhone’s first-generation phone was just launched, in 2007. Riteish Deshmukh revealed, "I had got 2 iPhone pieces with me; I must be one of the first people in Mumbai to have the smartphone. Someone was coming from America. He got it the day that it was launched and gave it to me the next day.”

Riteish continued, “I was aware that Shah Rukh is a huge technology fan. So as soon as I got the iPhones, I sent one device to him.”

The superstar was floored by the specs of this first-ever smartphone. Riteish then revealed, “At 11 pm that night, I got a call from him. He told me, 'Riteish, yaar yeh toh mindblowing cheez hai.' I told him that it is a gift from me to him. Then he said, 'I just want to tell you one thing. I am ready to marry you'.” Riteish burst out laughing as he narrated this particular part of the episode.

Riteish Deshmukh is also an architect by degree and has done the office of Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and that of Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Productions. While speaking about this aspect, Riteish narrated how Shah Rukh got him on board, "It was just random. One day, Shah Rukh just called me and asked me, 'Mera office (design) karega tu?' Now I am a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan. Sharing screen space with him (in Heyy Babyy; 2007) was big enough. But to do something for him (would have meant a lot). I told him that I'll get better architects and work with them. He said, 'Better architects to main bhi leke aa sakta hoon. Main chahta hoon ki mera office tu design karein. I like you'."

Meanwhile, 2022 is going to be an eventful year for Riteish Deshmukh. His first directorial venture, the Marathi film Ved, will be released in cinemas, on August 12, 2022. He’ll feature in the film as an actor, along with his wife Genelia Deshmukh. He’ll also be seen acting in Fardeen Khan-starrer Visfot, and opposite Tamannaah Bhatia in the Netflix film, Plan A Plan B. Talking about his personal life, his marriage with Genelia will complete 10 years in February 2022.

Kaun Banega Crorepati 13: Neena Gupta reveals how she bagged the role for Badhaai Ho; reveals she was considered ‘too hot’ to be a mom

Actress Neena Gupta will appear as a special guest on Kaun Banega Crorepati 13's Shaandaar Shukriya episode. During the episode, Neena will open up on how she bagged her role in the Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra starrer film Badhaai Ho. In the film, Neena played the central character of Ayushmann’s mother who is an old-age woman about to reach her menopause and gets pregnant.

Neena reveals that it all began when she read the script of the film. After going through the script, the actress was quite impressed and was waiting for a call back from the director. However, she didn't receive any calls in the following days.

Meanwhile, things took a new turn when she was called to visit the director of the film, Amit Sharma in his office. Revealing the incident, Neena says, "Amit called me to his office after a week and ten days. When I went there, I asked his assistant, 'What should I wear so that he thinks I fit into the character?' I was told that that character is from a middle-class family so I should wear a salwar kameez. I had some stylish salwar kameez but here, I had to wear normal salwar kameez".

The actress further reveals, "Then I got the kameez, but didn't have the salwar, the normal salwar. I was wondering what to do? I then wore my house cook's salwar because it was a normal and simple white colour salwar. I went there (to Amit Sharma's office), wearing my chunni and salwar kameez and I told him, 'Sir am I looking alright, I am wearing my house help's salwar he looked quite impressed by me."

Taking further about the incident Neena also revealed that she was not the first choice for the character as she looked 'too hot to be a mom. She said, "I then got to know later that when everyone would sit, and talk, Ayushmann Khurrana felt that I should not play the part because I don't look like a mom. He said, 'She's too hot!' He didn't get the 'Mummy' feeling looking at me.”

Lastly, she revealed how did finally she was locked for the role, "Someone then told Amit, that I had done a short film with Jackie Shroff called, 'Khujli', a 15-minute short. In that I had an almost similar attire. He watched that, then showed it to Ayushmann and everyone else. That is how I was locked into the role."

‘Becoming Maanvi’- Vaani Kapoor gives a glimpse of the multiple trials she did to get her look right in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui

Vaani Kapoor has been receiving positive responses for her sensitive yet strong portrayal of a trans woman named Maanvi for the recently released film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film has Ayushmann Khurrana essay the role of a weight-lifting champion working at a local gym in Chandigarh while Vaani plays a zumba instructor at the same gym. They fall in love but drift apart after Vaani discloses her past to Ayushmann.

Apart from her performance, Vaani is being lauded for her looks in the film. Playing a zumba instructor, Vaani is at her fittest best in the film and is seen donning some of the most stylish attires throughout the film. On Thursday, almost a week after the release of the film in theaters, Vaani dropped pictures of her doing trials for the look of Maanvi.

Ranbir Kapoor says Sanjay Leela Bhansali would abuse him during Black - "I used to be kneeling for hours"

Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor recalled the time he assisted director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the sets of Black. Ranbir said that the way Sanjay treated him on the sets prepared him for the real world. Once Ranbir finished working as an assistant director on the sets of Black, he was launched by Sanjay in Saawariya, opposite actress Sonam Kapoor. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his performance in the film.

While speaking at an exhibition in the Capital-Delhi, Ranbir talked about whether the commercial facet takes prerogative over imaginativeness in films, as his uncle Randhir Kapoor said that ‘the Raj Kapoor era of films is over’. Randhir recollected how Raj ‘didn’t calculate money’ during the shoot of the film Bobby and got the rooftops of Gulmarg painted for the film.

Ranbir partially agreed but also upheld present-day directors. “Not saying that my generation of filmmakers are only running behind the commercial aspect… When I assisted Mr (Sanjay Leela) Bhansali (on Black), he used to really treat me as an assistant director. I used to be kneeling down for hours, he used to hit us, he used to abuse us… that only hardens you and prepares you for the world,” he said.

Nowadays, Ranbir is gearing up for the release of Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, the first film of a proposed fantasy trilogy. It commemorates his first on-screen collaboration with Alia Bhatt and also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Dimple Kapadia.

Brahmaatra has been one of the most keenly awaited release since the day it was announced. It is Ranbir’s third film with Ayan; they have formerly worked together in Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The film is all set for a theatrical release on September 9, 2022, after various production delays. Apart from Brahmastra, Ranbir also has Karan Malhotra’s Shamshera, Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s Animal and Luv Ranjan’s next.

South superstar Dhanush is all set and gearing up for the release of his third Bollywood film Atrangi Re after Raanjhanaa (2013) and Shamitabh (2015). In the film, Dhanush has been cast opposite actress Sara Ali Khan. The film has proven to be one of the most anticipated and awaited films of the year. Currently, its promotions are going on in full swing. In a recent promotional press meet, Dhanush got into an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama. During the conversation, the Atrangi Re star spoke at a length about the film, his bond with director Aanand L. Rai, and co-star Sara Ali Khan, shooting amidst the pandemic, and much more.

How ‘Atrangi’ was the film for you?

Beautiful! I can say very confidently, that you will love the film and you would also fall in love with all the characters brilliantly. AR Rahman sir has given us amazing songs and just wait for the background music. All I can say is that I'm very happy to be a part of this film and the way the film is shaped.

You share a very good rapport with Aanand L. Rai and he even mentioned you being a delight for any director? What would you comment upon it?

We do share a very good bond. That is really a very nice compliment to have. I'm glad, he feels that way and that I'm able to do justice and play his character with conviction. I'm happy to be given such nice, amazing roles and to have had the opportunity to work with such brilliant makers. So I'm just grateful.

Sara praised you and mentioned you in her previous interview as an inspiration. What kind of bond do you share with her as a co-star?

As co-stars, we shared a good bond. We had very little time to think about anything else because we had such difficult characters to play through. And we had to be articulated every single minute. Very kind of Sara to say such lovely words. I try my level best to be to make any film. When the maker is expecting something out of it, I try my level best to give my everything to the film. So I'm really not trying to be helpful. I feel like I'm doing my duty. This film demands that kind of sincerity from me and Sara. So I'm very happy, she's done brilliantly.

You've been offered various Bollywood films before, what made you select this over any other?

No, it's not like I chose this over anything. It's just that everything should fall into place. I mean, there are brilliant scripts that came my way. I couldn't do because I was doing something else at that point of time. So many things. I mean, it's a big process, and it needs to be followed. But Aanand and Himanshu when it's them, I just say yes, right away. A day or before he told me that I need you around this time. So, I was like, okay, block those days, and everything should fall into it. But I understand what you mean and I am trying to do more.

So from Ranjhaana to Shamitabh to now Atrangi Re how has been your journey in Bollywood?

I think I've been blessed with such wonderful films and makers. I'm very proud of the two films that I've done here Ranjhaana and Shamitabh. And I'm very proud of Atrangi Re too. I wish I will get more of an opportunity to work with such brilliant filmmakers and be blessed with good characters to play.

You were shooting before the lockdown happened over there and suddenly after the lockdown you resumed shoot, so how was that like shooting before and after lockdown? Sara mentioned she immediately shot the song 'Chaka Chak' with 200 people and that too when Covid was at its peak. So how was that experience?

No, we have taken all the precautions. I know a lot of people were there but all of them were tested. And all of them were quarantined. And we were in a bio-bubble and it was done very, very carefully. And we maintained all safety measures possible that I think it is important. I mentioned that also. Well, lockdown and post lockdown for me, I just understood the value of being on sets. I mean, I always knew, I was grateful. But now I understood even more.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra dances with Spider-Man on 'Chura Ke Dil Mera', pleads with him for No Way Home ticket

With just one day to go for the release of the most awaited Spider-Man: No Way Home, Shilpa Shetty Kundra shared a funny tape on Twitter. The clip started up with her entering her room while looking online for tickets and crying out that they were all sold out.

Shilpa originally was amazed to see an individual in a Spider-Man costume in her room and then excitedly said ‘hi’ to him. “Ek ticket de na, baba (Give me one ticket, please),” she pleaded with him. She then requested a trade deal - she will teach him something in exchange for a ticket. First, Shilpa tried to teach Spider-Man how to do a Bollywood-style ‘thumka’ or shake his hips but gave up. She then taught him the ‘Chura Ke Dil Mera’ step. Nevertheless, when she asked him for a ticket to Spider-Man: No Way Home, he was unable to help her.

“Ticket nahi doge toh (If you don’t give me a ticket) there’s no way home for me,” Shilpa exclaimed, adding, “Viaan (her son) is going to kill me. Give me a ticket, Spider-Man.”

In her tweet, Shilpa tagged Tom Holland, who is playing Spider-Man, and wrote, “With great power comes great responsibility, Spidey! And, it’s your responsibility to get me the tickets lest there’s No Way Home for me because I couldn’t find them on the web @TomHolland1996.” She added hashtags such as ‘blessed’ and ‘gratitude’.

Previously, Shilpa traveled to Riyadh for the Da-Bangg: The Tour Reloaded, which starred Salman Khan, Aayush Sharma, Jacqueline Fernandez, Prabhu Dheva, Saiee Manjrekar, Guru Randhawa, Maniesh Paul and others were also a part of the show.

Kirron Kher continues to scream in Punjabi while the others chuckle, explaining that "touch-ups" begin in the makeup room at the start of the production and continue between shots. Shilpa and Badshah, she adds, have a large team to handle these "touch-ups." Kirron Kher then says, exasperatedly, "What is their issue?" which makes people around her laugh. Shilpa Shetty captured the entire argument on camera and shared it on Instagram.

Kirron Kher has returned to work with this season of India's Got Talent after receiving cancer treatment. Last month, she began filming for the show. The actress was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a kind of blood cancer, earlier this year.

Due to Shilpa Shetty's vivid pink clothing, Badshah and Manoj Muntashir come up with nicknames for her such as Pinky Shetty, Gulabo, and Roohafza in the video. ,"I will go with Shilpa Shetty" the actress responds. "I will also go with Shilpa Shetty — only if she is willing to take me," Badshah says cheekily.

"From Kirron Kher ji's concerns to Manoj Muntashirji's explanations," Shilpa Shetty wrote on Twitter after sharing the video. Even BTS [behind the scenes] on IGT, Badboyshah, and I are typically extremely "busy."

In the past few days, we've witnessed things not going so well between Rashami and Devoleena. The duo who were best of friends during their season is seen locking horns with each other this time. In the recent episode, a war of words happened between the actresses where late actor and Bigg Boss 13 winner Sidharth Shukla's name was indirectly mentioned.

In the argument, the actresses accused each other of picking up fights. Devoleena said, “Harkaton se baaz aa jao Rashami. Jo tum kar chuki ho na gandagi, wo hi gandagi tum mere sath mat karo. Ek ke sath tum tabhi kaar chuki thi, now you’re trying to do it with me.”

Hearing this Rashami got hurt and expressed her distress to Shamita Shetty. Rashami tells her that what Devoleena said wasn’t needed as Sidharth (Shukla) is no more. She also commented that Devoleena did the same thing with Sidharth in season 13 and so should avoid such things in this season.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra to be three-film franchise; first part to release on September 9, 2022 in five languages in 3D

Ayan Mukerji's upcoming film Brahmastra is one of the most awaited films. The film which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna, among others was recently wrapped up with a final schedule in Mumbai. The film has already been delayed multiple times and now with theatres having reopened, fans have been eagerly looking forward to the release date announcement of the film.

Over the past few days, the makers have been dropping behind the scene pictures from the sets of the film increasing the excitement and anticipation around the film. And now, the makers have a final release date. The film will release on September 9, 2022. It is said to be a three-part franchise starring with the first part coming in 2022. "My album Sukoon is a tribute to all the Ghazal greats" - Sanjay Leela Bhansali on his first non-film album Sukoon

Epic filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali who also composes the music for his films, is all set to release his first independent non-film album. Containing 12 Ghazals sung by various artistes including Papon, Armaan Malik and Bhansali’s discovery Shreya Ghosal, the album Sukoon is, in the filmmaker-composer’s words, his tribute to the Ghazals greats.

Says Bhansali, “I’ve grown up listening to Begum Akhtar, Mehdi Haasan, Ghulam Ali and Jagjit Singh. My album Sukoon is a tribute to all these Ghazal greats. And yet the compositions and the style of singing are not a copy of these greats. This is a young vibrant attempt to make the Ghazal accessible to the millennials. I hope I’ve succeeded.”

Having heard the album, I can vouch for the uniqueness of the sound. The Ghazal has never sounded so young! This is how one felt when Jagjit Singh had broken the mould and shattered all myths about the Ghazal with his 1977 album The Unforgettables.

Visionary that he is, Bhansali has given a new impetus to the Ghazals. The album also introduces veteran singer Suresh Wadkar’s daughter Ananya. She has a voice that makes you listen.

Says Bhansali, “I grew up listening to Lataji. For me she is the epitome of all that is beautiful in this universe. I search for a glimpse of her voice in all my singers, be it Shreya Ghoshal or Ananya Wadekar.”

Vin Diesel’s Fast & Furious 10 postponed, to now release on May 19, 2023

The 10th installment in the Fast & Furious franchise has now been pushed for summer 2023 release. Filmmaker Justin Lin is directing the penultimate installment of the blockbuster long-running cars-to-spies franchise starring Vin Diesel in the lead role.

The theatrical release date for Fast & Furious 10, the movie’s working title for now, has been pushed back by six weeks from April 7, 2023, the beginning of Easter weekend, to May 19, 2023, Universal said December 14, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Universal already had the May 19 date reserved for an “untitled event” film.

While the studio did not provide a reason for the shifts, Fast & Furious 10 will now open closer to the lucrative Memorial Day corridor. In terms of competition, other event pics dated for early summer 2023 include The Little Mermaid (May 26) and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (June 2). Universal isn’t giving up the Easter slot entirely and, in a twinned move, said that an untitled DreamWorks Animation film will move from March 24, 2023 to April 7, 2023.

The Fast franchise, which began in 2001, has made $6.3 billion globally, with that figure including the 2019 spinoff Hobbs & Shaw. The most recent installment of the core franchise, 2021’s Lin-directed F9, grossed $726.6 million worldwide despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Justin Lin will direct both the 10th and 11th films in the Fast franchise, which will be the conclusion of the core movies. Lin has directed five Fast films beginning with 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Vin Diesel and franchise regulars such as Sung Kang, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel and Michelle Rodriguez are all expected to return. The mid-credits scene from F9 suggested Jason Statham’s character will play some part too.

20 Years Of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham: “The budget at that point, in 2001, was Rs. 50 crore, which is equivalent to today’s 500 crore” – Karan Johar

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham released exactly 20 years, on December 14, 2001. Starring as many as six actors – Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan – the film was grand in every way. That it was shot in places like Egypt, which was a country then where no other Hindi film was ever filmed, added to the film’s appeal, and also budget. And not to forget, money flowed like water as Karan made the most visually appealing sets and also ensured that his characters donned glamorous and expensive costumes.

In his autobiography ‘An Unsuitable Boy’, Karan Johar opened up about the economics of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. To quote him, “The budget at that point, in 2001, was Rs. 50 crore, which is equivalent to today’s 500 crore. No one had ever, in the history of film budgets at least, spent Rs. 50 crore on a feature film when the total remuneration of the cast at that time was 6 crore rupees.”

He added, “Today, if you make the exact same film with the same cast, it’ll be unaffordable and you won’t be able to release it, because there’s no way you can recover that kind of investment.”

Luckily for Karan Johar, despite the high costs, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham emerged as a success. It earned Rs. 55.65 crores at the Indian box office, an insane amount in those times. At that point, it was possibly the third biggest grosser after Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), which had collected Rs. 72.46 crore, and Gadar – Ek Prem Katha (2001), which earned Rs. 76.88 crore and had released just a few months before Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. In the overseas market, however, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was miles ahead of Gadar – Ek Prem Katha as it collected a humongous Rs. 42 crore gross outside India.

On Rajeev Masand’s audio show ‘Picture Ke Peeche’, Karan Johar had said, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’s UK (lifetime numbers) was 2.6 million pounds; Dhoom 2’s (2006) (lifetime numbers) were 2.7 million pounds. Nobody has gone beyond these figures all these years.”

Anil recently spoke up at an event about how films that are considered "no-brainers" should not be dismissed. He believes that entertainment and so-called "masala films" would continue to thrive around the world. He further stated that the so-called "no-brainers" are produced and sold not only in India but all around the world. He went on to say that one would be astonished to learn that OTT somewhere prefers films that are fun, action-packed, and don't need too much thinking.

Meanwhile, Anil will next be seen in Raj Mehta's Jug Jugg Jeeyo, in which he will co-star alongside Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, and Neetu Kapoor. According to reports, the film is about the institution of marriage.
