उड्दै गरेको हट एयर बेलुन बल्यो, पाइलट र ५ जोडीको मृत्यु

वेलिङ्टन (न्युजिल्यान्ड) पुस, २३ (एपी) - ११ जनालाई बोकेर उडेको एउटा हट एयर बेलुन शनिबार त्यहाँको एक गाउँमा विद्युत प्रसारण हुने टावरसँग ठोक्किएको छ। उड्दै गरेका मानिसहरु एकाएक ठोक्किँदा आगोको ज्वालासँग जुध्न पुगे। न्युजिल्यान्डमा ५० वर्षपछि भएको यस्तो प्रकृतिको दुर्घटनामा भएको हो। दुर्घटनामा सबैको मृत्यु भयो। उडिरहेको बेलुन ठोक्किएपछि आगो निस्कनुअघि नै दुई व्यक्ति ज्यान जोगाउन हामफालेका थिए।
उनीहरु ठूलो आवाजसहित जमिनमा बजारिए। हट एयर बेलुनका लागि ख्याती कमाएको क्यारटेरटोनमा यस्तो दुर्घटना भएको हो। हावाको वेग सामान्य हुँदाहुँदै पनि यस्तो दुर्घटना हुन पुगेको थियो।

एक पाइलट र पाँच जोडी विलिङटन क्षेत्रका मानिस हुन् जसले शनिबार बिहानै ज्यान गुमाए। प्रहरी सुपरिटेन्डेन्ट माइक रुसविचले कतिपयको शरीर जलेर चिन्न नसकिने अवस्थामा नै पुगेको बताए।

रुसविचका अनुसार बेलुनले बोकेको बास्केट विद्युत लाइनको टावरसँग ठोक्कियो र आगो लाग्यो। प्रतक्ष्यदर्शीलाई उदृत गर्दै स्थानीय मिडियाले जनाएअनुसार उनीहरु ठोक्किएपछि बास्केटबाट करिब १० मिटर लामो आगोको ज्वाला निस्किएको थियो।

प्रत्यक्षदर्शी वेभन ल्यम्वेथले भने, 'बास्केट केहीबेर तारमा झुन्डियो। करिब ५० मिटर माथि रहेको तारमा झुन्डिएको बास्केट तलमाथि हुन थाल्यो र आगोको ज्वालामा पुग्यो। त्यसपछि पूरै बास्केट ध्वस्त भयो।'

दुर्घटनाको एरियल फोटो हेर्दा सेतो घर नजिकै हरियो जमिनमा कालो खरानी देखिन्छ।

डेभिड म्याकिन्लेले देख्दा बेलुन एउटा रुखभन्दा केही माथि थियो। 'पाइलटले केही उचाई लिन खोजेका हुन कि जस्तो देखिन्थ्यो,' उनले सुनाए, 'त्यत्तिकैमा त्यहाँ १० मिटरजत्रो ज्वाला देखियो।'

दुर्घटनामा मरेकाहरुप्रति स्थानीय सरकारले शोक व्यक्त गरेको छ। यहाँको यातायात दुर्घटना अनुसन्धान विभागले तुरुन्तै काम थाल्ने बताएको छ। यो दुर्घटनामा सन् १९६३ मा न्युजिल्यान्डमा भएको डीसी ३ एयरलाइनरपछिको ठूलो मानिएको छ। त्यतिखेर २३ जना यात्रु र चालक दलका सदस्यको मृत्यु भएको थियो।

साउदी मालिकले बन्धक बनाए नेपाली चेली

मनोज अधिकारी, पोखरा, पुस १२- तनहुँको दुलेगौंडा-८ कि ३१ वर्षिया लालु विक गत असारमा भारत हुँदै साउदी अरब पुगिन्। गाउँकै दलाल बाबुराम विकमार्फत् भारतको अवैध बाटो हुँदै साउदी पुगेकी उनी सुरुमा एक घरमा 'हाउस मेड'का रुपमा काम गर्न थालिन्। घरको सरसफाईदेखि बालबच्चाको हेरचाह समेत गर्नुपर्ने उनले कामको पारिश्रमीक पाउनुको सट्टा दिनहुँ घर मालिकको यातना खेप्न थालिन्।

एक छाक राम्ररी खान पनि नदिने घर मालिकले सधैं शारीरिक र मानसिक यातना दिन थालेकी उनी त्यहाँबाट भागिन्। तर घर मालिकले उनलाई पुन समाते र विगत केही महिनायता बन्धक बनाएर राखेका छन्।
घर र माइतीको असहमतिलाई बेवास्ता गर्दै दलालको भर परेर पराईभूमि पुगेकी दुई छोरीकी आमा लालु अहिले ठूलो फन्दामा परेकी छिन्। ती घर मालिकले १० हजार रियाल (करिब दुई लाख रुपैयाँ) फिरौती माग्दै लालुलाई चरम यातना दिइरहेका छन्। नेपालस्थित बाबुआमासँग फोनमा फिरौती माग्ने ती घर मालिकले आफ्नो नाम नबताए पनि साउदीको बैंक खाता टिपाएर पैसा जम्मा गरिदिन धम्क्याउने गरेका छन्।
'छोरीले फोनमा आमा मलाई यहाँबाट छुटाएर बचाउनुस् भन्दै रोइरहेकी छिन्' लालुकी आमा यमकुमारी विक भनिन्,'केही थाहा नभएका हामी के गरौं कसो गरौं अन्योलमा छौं।' उनले बन्धनमा परेकी छोरीको उद्वारका लागि पहल गरिदिन सम्बन्धित निकायलाई आग्रह गरेकी छिन्। ती घर मालिकले छोरीलाई चरम यातना दिंदै सुरुमा १० हजार र अहिले ६ हजार रियाल फिरौती मागेको उनले बताइन्।
आफूहरुले जानु हुँदैन भन्दा भन्दै अटेर गरेर लालु गत असारमा गाउँकै दलाल बाबुराम विकमार्फत् भारत हुँदै अवैध बाटो भएर साउदी गएको आमाले बताईन्। लालुका श्रीमान् प्रेम र कान्छो भाई कर्णबहादुर विक विगत दुई वर्षदेखि साउदीमै छन्। उनीहरुले पनि लालूलाई बन्धनबाट मुक्त गराउन नसकेपछि आफु आत्तिएको यमकुमारीले बताईन्। लालुका ११ र ६ वर्षका दुई छोरी भने मामाघर बस्दै आएका छन्। उनको पासपोर्ट नम्बर ४६७७३९७ हो।
दैनिक एउटा टुक्रा बिस्कुटको भरमा बाँचेकी लालू पाठेघर (आङ) खस्ने रोगबाट पीडित छन्। उनले नागरिकसँगको फोन कुराकानीमा आफु कैयन् दिनदेखि अवस्थ्य रहेको र घर मालिकले छिनछिनमा कुट्ने गरेको सुनाईन्। फोन कुराकानीका क्रममा रोइरहेकी उनले अहिले पनि घरमालिकले आफुमाथि हातै हात्ताले कुटिरहेको बताइन्।
'दाई मेरो घरमा कुरा गरेर नेपालबाट पैसा पठाएर मलाई यहाँबाट लैजान केही गर्नस्' लालूले रुँदै भनिन्,'मलाई यहाँ बस्न निकै कष्टकर भइरहेको छ। मेरो पाठेघर खसेर म निकै विरामी परेकी छु।' उनले गर्नै नसक्ने कामको बोझ र सधैंको यातनाबाट बच्न भाग्दा घर मालिकले समातेर ल्याई बन्धक बनाएको बताईन्। दलाल बाबुरामले राम्रो काम गर्ने ठाउँ हो भन्दै आफुलाई उक्त घरमा छोडेर हिंडेको बिचल्लीमा पारेको उनको गुनासो छ। श्रीमान्ले विदेशबाट पैसा पठाईरहे पनि उनी दलालको बहकाउमा परेर घर परिवारले नमान्दा पनि साउदी गएकी थिइन्। गाउँकै व्यक्ति भए पनि बाबुराम बेला-बेला नेपाली चेलीहरुलाई अवैध बाटो हुँदै साउदी पुर्‍याउने र आफु भारतमा सुरक्षित रुपमा बस्ने गर्दै आएका छन्।
दलालमार्फत् अवैध बाटो हुँदै साउदी पुगेको हुनाले लालूलाई छुटाउन उनका आफन्तले त्यहाँस्थित प्रहरी र दुतावासको सहयोग लिन नसकेको आफन्त तिलक विकले बताए। लालूलाई बन्धक बनाउने घर मालिकसँग आफुले फटक-पटक फोनमा कुरा गरेको बताउँदै उनले फिरौती रकम दिए पनि उनी छुट्ने कुरामा शंका रहेको बताए।
उनले मंगलबार परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालयमा गएर आफ्नो समस्या राख्न लागेको जानकारी दिए। त्यसका लागि लालुकी आमा र आफन्त तिलक सोमबार राजधानी प्रस्थान गरेका छन्।
'बहिनी अवैध बाटो भएर साउदी गएकाले अहिले उद्वार गर्न कठिनाई भएको हो' पहिले साउदीमा बसेर फर्किएका तिलकले नागरिकसँग भने,'अब सरकारले उचित पहल गरिदिए उनी सकुशल मुक्त हुन सक्छिन्।'

New recruitment in NA will be done on competition: Defence Ministry

The Defence Ministry has clarified that the new recruitment in the Nepal Army will be done on competition, denying that there will be "group entry" of Madhesis.
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, who also oversees the Defence Ministry, unveiled the policy paper on making the NA inclusive. He said that 2000 youths from different communities in Madhes will be recruited in the NA through reservation out of total 3000 posts to be filled.
Gachchhadar further said that recruitment of Madhesis in the NA is necessary to make the organisation more inclusive.
Meanwhile, secretary of the Defence Ministry informed that recruitment centres would be established in eight places of Terai, five places of hilly region and three places of mountainous region.
The policy paper apparently contradicted some points of the recent cabinet decision to induct 3000 Madhesis in the NA. The decision has drawn flak from different quarters including the two major opposition parties, the Nepali Congress and the UML. News Source: nepalnews.com

US cancels travel warning for Nepal

United States of America has canceled travel warning that it had issued for US citizens preparing to visit Nepal. “In recognition of improved conditions in Nepal, the US Department of State has cancelled the travel warning that was most recently issued on January 12,” the US Embassy in Kathmandu said in a statement on Wednesday. The US Embassy is pleased that the overall situation in Nepal has improved to such a degree that this decision could be made, the statement added. The decision is expected to increase the flow of tourists from the US to Nepal.

Woman gives birth inside helicopter

A woman has given birth inside a helicopter of Fistail Air, which was en route to Kathmandu from Humla.
Kamala Aidi of Darma VDC in Humla, who was being brought to Kathmandu after pre-delivery complications, gave birth to a baby boy just before the AJI (AS350B3) helicopter landed at the Kathmandu airport Tuesday.
After landing, she was helped by a medic crew before being transported to the hospital.
According to Fistail air, this is the second child birth on board its helicopter. On 14 February last year, one Roshani Acharya had given birth to a child on board the chopper.

NEA set to increase power tariff by 20 percent

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is preparing to increase the electricity tariff by 20 percent effective from January 15.
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and chairman of the Electricity Tariff Determination Commission Ganesh Prasad Subba agreed to increase the electricity tariff in a meeting held at PM’s Office in Singhdurbar on Wednesday.
The PM agreed in principle to increase the power tariff as per the suggestion of the Commission, said Commission chairman Subba.
The NEA will increase power tariff after taking official consent from the government.
Though the NEA had proposed an increase of 30 percent power tariff, 20 percent increase is being imposed based on the suggestion of the Commission. The Commission has recommended to increase electricity tariff by 20 percent for the time being.
The consumers have been paying Rs. 7 per unit for using electricity at present. However, Energy Minister Posta Bahadur Bogati recently claimed that the NEA has been facing the loss of Rs. 3 per unit.

Parties agree to incorporate ‘Armed Struggle’ phrase in preamble of new constitution

The UCPN (Maoist) bid to incorporate “People’s War” phrase into the preamble of new constitution that is being drafted has failed as political parties instead agreed to replace it with “Armed Struggle” phrase.
A meeting of the Dispute Resolution Sub Committee formed to settle contentious issues seen in constitution drafting and peace process on Tuesday ended the disagreement among the parties over the issue of whether to incorporate “People’s War” or “Armed Struggle” into the preamble.
The three parties reached an agreement to incorporate “Armed Struggle”
phrase after the UCPN (Maoist) party backed down from its initial stance of incorporation of “People’s War” in the preamble.
The meeting of the sub-committee headed by Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal which was held at its office in Singha Durbar also touched upon other contentious issues including those related to forms of government and electoral system.
The main opposition Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) had been rejecting the Maoist proposal to put the words “People’s War” in the preamble right from the start.
The two parties had during their coalition government in 2009 also defeated the same proposal put forth by the Maoists through majority vote in the 63-member Constitutional Committee, which is drafting the new constitution.
With the dispute over the use of phrase resolved, the disputed issues have been reduced to 13 from 210.
On Sunday, the sub-committee had resolved two issues related to the procedure of appointing ambassadors and special envoys and making amendment to the constitution.

‘Facebook felon’ arrested for disseminating lewd pictures, videos to harass girls

Police on Monday arrested Shyam Prasad Timilsina, a 12th grader at Cambridge College, Kalanki for misusing the popular social networking site Facebook to post indecent photos and videos by creating fake accounts of girls he knew.
The Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested 21-year-old Timilsina, who is originally from Kavre district, for posting illicit pictures and videos to defame a married woman with whom he was in an illicit relationship.
According to the police, offender Timilsina not only created a fake Facebook account in the name of the unidentified woman to take revenge on her for trying to end their “relationship”, but even posted the mobile phone numbers of her and other girls from her cell phone asking people to contact them for “physical relationship”.
Timilsina, who is also found to have sent obscene text messages from Nepal Telecom’s free Web SMS service to various girls, was arrested following complaints of the girls who were victimized by him.

PM Bhattarai to visit India from Oct 21

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai is scheduled to start his official visit to New Delhi from October 21, according his political advisor Devendra Poudel. Speaking at the Reporters Club Saturday, Poudel said the main agenda of PM Bhattarai's India visit would be to propose abrogation of unequal treaties like the Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1950 and the treaty on security and arms purchase. However, the Prime Minister's Office is yet to officially announce the date of the PM's India trip. This will be Bhattarai's second foreign trip and the first at the government level after getting elected as the Prime Minister. He visited New York in September to take part in the United Nations General Assembly. He had met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New York on the UN General Assembly sidelines and had discussed about his forthcoming India visit. A Buddha Air plane returning from mountain flight crashed at Kotdanda hill in Lalitpur district Sunday morning, killing all 19 persons on board including three crew members.

According to locals and security personnel involved in rescue, 18 persons were killed on the spot while one passenger, Nirajan Karmacharya, 36, who was rescued alive, died while undergoing treatment at B&B Hospital at Saatdobato, Lalitpur.
"I will survive. I am not going to die," Nirajan had said just as he was being rushed to hospital by rescuers in a critical condition, according to Chiranjivi Acharya, former chairman of Lamatar VDC in Lalitpur, who was involved in the rescue.
The crew of the Beechcraft 1900-D was comprised of captain J.B Tamrakar, co-pilot Padma Adhikari and air hostess Ashmita Shrestha. There were eight Indians, six Europeans and two Nepalis apart from the three crew members on board the ill-fated aircraft.
The plane had lost contact with the airport tower at 7:31 am and had gone missing before crashing at Kotdanda. A Nepal Army recue helicopter had returned as it could not land near the crash site due to bad weather.
Locals, police and army personnel have been involved in rescue works at the crash site. The area is some 20km from Kathmandu.

Earthquake in Nepal

An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale shook eastern parts of Nepal including Kathmandu valley Sunday evening. The strong tremors occurred around 6:26 pm (NST) and lasted for just about a minute.
According to National Seismologic Center (NSC) in Kathmandu, the epicenter of the 6.8 magnitude earthquake was in the border areas of Taplejung. Tremors were felt as far as Sikkim state of India.
Residents of Kathmandu valley were terrorized by the quake that rocked the city very briefly. Panic stricken people came running out of cinema halls, malls and offices after they felt the tremors. Mobile phone networks were also jammed as people started calling their loved ones to know about their condition while traffic in major thoroughfares were clogged for a while.
At least three deaths are reported in Kathmandu after wall of the British embassy collapsed and hit the pedestrians.

US keeps Nepal Maoists on blacklist despite new PM

AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE WASHINGTON, Aug 31: The United States said that Nepal´s Maoists needed to do more to be removed from a terrorism blacklist, even though it hopes to work with a new prime minister from the left-wing movement.

Baburam Bhattarai, a senior leader of the former rebels whose insurgency helped topple the monarchy, was selected Sunday as prime minister in a new bid to end a prolonged political deadlock in the Himalayan nation.
The United States has pledged to work with Bhattarai but, in response to a question, said that the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist would remain on a list of terrorist organizations whose members are barred from US travel.

"While the party has taken some positive steps, we continue to have areas of concern which must be addressed before the party could be de-listed," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.

The Maoists have long sought the removal of the designation. Nuland dismissed suggestions that the listing would complicate US ties, saying: "We are hopeful that we will be able to have a good working relationship."

"There are a number of governments around the world where individual folks, individual parties in a coalition, have been designated, and we continue to work as best we can there," she said.

She did not specify criteria, but US diplomats in the past have urged the Maoists to renounce definitively the use of violence as a political instument.

Maoist rebels waged a a bloody conflict that left 16,000 dead before turning to mainstream politics and winning elections in 2008. The Maoists were blamed for a 2004 attack on the American Center in Kathmandu.
The Maoists are on the US Terrorism Exclusion List but not the tougher Foreign Terrorist Organization List, which would make it a crime to provide financial support to the group.

Japanese woman, guide killed by avalanche in Nepal

KATMANDU, Nepal — A Japanese woman and her Nepalese trekking guide were killed when they were swept by an avalanche while trying to scale a mountain in Nepal over the weekend, officials said Wednesday.

Separately, another Japanese woman trekker missing for the past 13 days in the mountainous region was found alive and reported to be in good health.

Nepalese police official Surendra Bartaula said the avalanche struck on Saturday while Masue Yoshida, 63, and her guide were trying to scale the 19,172-foot (5,844-metre) high Naya Kanga peak in Rashuwa district in north-central Nepal.

Yoshida's body is still on the mountain and attempts were being made to fly it some 50 miles (80 kilometres) south to the capital, Kathmandu. Yoshida's hometown was not known.

The woman who was found alive, Makiko Iwafuchi, 49, of Tokyo, also was in the Rashuwa district. She was found by a villager wandering the mountain trails on Tuesday.

Soldiers from a nearby army camp were called and carried her on a stretcher to a hospital in the nearest town on Wednesday, police official Sitaram Chapagain said in a telephone interview.

Chapagain said the woman was in good health and was being kept at the local Dhunche hospital for observation. The Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu was sending a vehicle on Thursday to fetch her.

Iwafuchi had been missing since May 26, when she left her hotel for a stroll on the mountainous trail. She was travelling alone. Officials had launched a search the next day but failed to find any trace.

The police official said weather had been foggy and rainy since the day she went missing. The area is a popular trekking region but it was the end of the season and there were not many trekkers left in the area.

Missing Person in Nepal

Hi Everyone,

It seems that my brother Paulius Zavadckis (19 years old from Lithuania) may be missing in Nepal. He went to volunteer for the Helambu project in Gankharka village on 27th February, 2011, but soon left the project, did a bit of travelling in Nepal (Kathmandu, Pokhara, Pang) and we have lost the contact with him since 7th March, when he last emailed us.

We have reason to suspect that my brother may still be in the area of Helambu or Langtang, because about a week after his last e-mail local people said they have seen him in the area again heading towards the Ama Yangri Temple. But he might also have had a secret wish to cross over to Tibet as he was very drawn by Buddhism. We are very worried about Paulius and would be grateful for any information about him.

CA term extended by another three months

The Constituent Assembly (CA) term has been extended by another three months. The Legislature Parliament passed the ninth amendment to the interim constitution Sunday morning to extend the CA term.

The parliament has changed the phrase ‘the term of CA will be three years from the date of its first meeting’ mentioned in Article 64 of the interim constitution to ‘the term of CA will be three years and three months from the date of its first meeting.’
The CA term was extended after a five-point agreement among largest three political parties in the CA – Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC) and UML.
Although, United Democratic Madhesi Front had also initially given consent to the CA term extension, it later stayed neutral at the time of voting saying the agreement was still not enough to address the cause of the Madhes.
All other lawmakers except those of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal voted for the constitution amendment bill filed by the government. RPP-N voted against it.
This is the second time the CA term has been extended. Initially elected for a period of two years in 2008 the CA term had been extended for a period of one year on May 28 last year. Political parties sought another extension as the task of constitution drafting has still not been completed.

Dahal had gone to Koirala residence, Maharajgunj this morning to apprise Koirala of the common proposal for consensus prepared by ruling parties yesterday.
At the meeting, Koirala maintained his party will not support the CA term extension proposal unless the 10-point conditions put forward it is not met.
Koirala reiterated, Prime Minister's resignation, submission of arms to the government and determination of number of combatants to be integrated as necessary conditions for his party to support the CA term extension.

Statute sub-committee settles eight more disputes; new constitution to be named 'Constitution of Nepal'

The sub-committee formed under the Constitutional Committee Thursday resolved eight disputes surrounding the upcoming constitution including its name.

A meeting of the sub-committee decided to name the statute as 'Constitution of Nepal'. There were six disputes over the name of the upcoming constitution.
Similarly, the sub-committee, which is headed by Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also decided to forgo any mention of the Maoist combatants via-a-vis the peace process in the constitution.
Maoist representatives to the sub-committee were convinced that no reference of the combatants would be necessary as the peace process would conclude by the time the constitution is written.
Earlier, the Maoist side was adamant on having specific reference of 'People's Liberation Army' as such in the constitution.
Similarly, the panel also decided to incorporate the clauses of fundamental rights within the Directive Principles of the State.
The sub-committee is yet to resolve 22 more disputes including the governance system, restructuring of the state and electoral system.

Limbuwan, UDMF cadres obstruct EC voters' ID campaign in east

The Federal Limbuwan State Council has obstructed the ongoing Election Commission (EC)'s voters' identity card (ID) campaign in various eastern districts, Monday.
Following the obstruction, the EC decided to halt all activities today in Jhapa, Morang, Ilam, Terhathum and Dhankuta districts, where the council has major influence.
Similarly, the EC decided to halt the campaign in Sunsari following obstruction from the United Democratic Madhesi Front, reports said.
EC officials deployed in the field said they were compelled to halt the ongoing data updating saying the environment for them to work is full of risk.
Both council and UDMF have been active in protesting against the EC's campaign standing against the mandatory requirement of citizenship card for getting eligible for obtaining digital voters' ID cards.
They have demanded alternative to citizenship saying a significant number of people belonging to their communities lack the document.

Statute sub-committee term extended till May 27

The Constitutional Committee (CC) has extended the term of its sub-committee formed to narrow down the differences in the new constitution till May 27.
A meeting of the Committee in Singha Durbar Sunday morning extended the sub-committee's term till May 27. The Constituent Assembly (CA) term is ending on May 28.
Although, the sub-committee's term ended on April 14, it remained defunct as CC meeting could not convene due to obstruction from four lawmakers representing various minority groups.
CC meeting convened Sunday after a gap of over one month amid clamour from Dalit Janjati Party lawmaker Bishwendra Paswan.
The CC has also decided to call an all party meeting to discuss and address the concerns raised by the four lawmakers.
The statute sub-committee formed over two months ago has reached agreement on various key issues in the constitution.
It is yet to forge consensus on about three dozen issues including the most critical issues - the form of governance and state restructuring.

Four dead in Rukum bus mishap

At least four persons have been killed and more than a dozen injured in a passenger bus accident in Rukum district Tuesday morning.

The passenger bus with registration number Ra 1 Kha 365 was heading to Tulsipur of Dang from Rukum district when it met with an accident at Dangimode of Khara of the district.
The deceased and injured persons have not been identified yet.
According to the Police, the bus had plunged about 300 meters down from the road. The cause of the accident has also not been known.
Police said security forces are involved in rescue operation at the site of the accident site.

Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that a concrete agreement will emerge among the parties on key issues of constitution-drafting and peace process within a couple of days.
Speaking at an interaction orginised by Revolutionary Journalists Association in Nawalparasi on Saturday, Dahal said that constitution and peace process would get a direction very soon.
"Parties should be able to prepare an integrated draft of the new constitution by 28 May in order to create ground for the extension of the Constituent Assembly," said he.
He added that integrated draft of the constitution by 28 May is possible since 80 percent works has completed. He, however, made it clear that issuing the constitution within the current deadline of the CA "has become impossible."
Dahal also claimed there was no major dispute in his party over the distribution of ministerial portfolios and that the 'minor differences' that exist would be settled through talks.

WASHINGTON, May 2: Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the Sept. 11 attacks against the United States, is dead, and the U.S. is in possession of his body, a person familiar with the situation said late Sunday.

President Barack Obama was expected to address the nation on the developments Sunday night.

Two senior counterterrorism officials confirmed that bin Laden was killed in Pakistan last week. One said bin Laden was killed in a ground operation, not by a Predator drone. Both said the operation was based on U.S. intelligence, and both said the U.S. is in possession of bin Laden´s body.

Officials long believed bin Laden, the most wanted man in the world, was hiding a mountainous region along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to speak ahead of the president.

The development comes just months before the tenth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Centers and Pentagon, orchestrated by bin Laden´s al-Qaida organization, that killed more than 3,000 people.

The attacks set off a chain of events that led the United States into wars in Afghanistan, and then Iraq, and America´s entire intelligence apparatus was overhauled to counter the threat of more terror attacks at home.

Al-Qaida organization was also blamed for the 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa that killed 231 people and the 2000 attack on the USS Cole that killed 17 American sailors in Yemen, as well as countless other plots, some successful and some foiled.
