Christians Skew Biblical Verses To Make Invalid Points

This is a pic that a Christian conservative friend placed on my Facebook Timeline this past week. He knows I have a good understanding of scripture and he also knows that I'm a Libertarian. I think he wanted to provoke some kind of response from me... Well, I reposted it for all my friends to see and thought I should also share with you...

Take a good look at this and think about it... This is what is known as ambiguous association of two different pieces of subject matter that ARE NOT relevant to one another...

The Bible verse being quoted, is a good one. It talks about taking action, hence most people during the time that the scripture was written, took action using their right hands (left handed people were sometimes accused of being heretics or maligned in some kind of way, considered unnatural or passive)...

But the terms Left Wing and Right Wing actual stem from a time during the French Revolution. You had the liberators (i.e. the common folk) who chose to sit on the left hand side of the assembly hall) and you had the Nobility (or the Establishment) who sat on the right side of the assembly hall. The President over the General Assembly sat at the center. They way the seats were positioned in the hall made them appear to be wings that fanned out from the Center seat.

So respect the verse in the Bible. Don't take it out of context to try to justify a holier than though attitude over those with an opposing politicial ideology. It's smacks of self righteousness. I do not mean to offend anyone, but in truth, to say that your party is back by God when both parties in the US pass so many laws together that GO AGAINST GOD, is hypocritical...

That being said, I'm a Libertarian... I believe in a smaller government as ordained by the founders of our Country through the Constitution and the Bill of Rights... That makes me "right winged", or ultra Conservative on MANY of our nations issues...

But I'm not holier than you because I'm ultra Conservative. I believe in Freedom and Liberty... More importantly, I believe in Truth, not deception of self indulgence through ambiguous association....

NOW....

Let me add something to what I didn't on FB. We could also apply this to left handed and right handed people. However, a person who is left handed has been scientifically proven to use their right side of the brains and right handed people (over 90% of the population) use the left side of their brains...

I can make an ambiguous association with this bible verse and state that Left handed people follow God's path and all right handed people are fools... Why, because "heart" as used in this verse means conscience, which scientifically is stored in the brain, not the organ that pumps blood through your body....

But then again, is calling someone a fool really an insult? I mean, the Bible does state that you should never call someone a fool (Matthew 5:22). But another old term for fool was "jester", or court entertainers... Successful "fools" were the most entertaining ones that successfully garnished admiration from Monarchs and Nobility alike through wit, displays of amazing dexterity (like juggling) and satire... Entertainers, who were some of the most craftiest people of the land...

So don't be foolish and pretend to be witty and make Biblical references to things that are not relevant to history. We know the history of where the terms left wing and right wing came from and it is heavily documented...

Suppressing Ego and Universal Connections

This morning, The Witches Voice posted an article on their FB page about a recent study of shrooms, you know, the kind that people use to "trip".

In this study, it was discovered that the hallucinogen found in the mushrooms, psilocybin, actually suppressed key activity areas of the brain, in contrast to the belief that it created and activated new connections, thus "opening the mind".

Specifically, psilocybin suppressed an area of the human brain that scientists refer to as the "default mode network", a part that they don't quite understand how it operates, but is responsible for "a balanced sense of consciousness and ego through self-reflection".

This really got my brain whirling. In a very scientific answer, I saw a spiritual revelation, an epiphany, if you will. Many religions in the world talk about letting go "of yourself" and letting Divinity take control of the situation in order to "feel" Divinity.

I'm a huge believer in personal empowerment and mind over matter. I believe that we have that divine spark that dwells within us that allows us to manifest and to create change.

Is it possible for us to use meditation and essentially suppress this "default mode network" through sheer force of will? Why not? Buddhists monks can regulate their heart beats, blood pressure and more utilizing meditation.

So perhaps the problem with us being able to connect to the Universal Conciseness isn't a problem with not having enough personal power, but too much Ego, too much awareness of self? To much focus and involvement in the local stimuli of our environment that inhibits us from performing what we naturally do, connect with everything around us, intuitively? Our evolved minds hinder and prohibit our innate connection to nature?

People that use these shrooms describe "a oneness with everything around them and the Universe". In this study, one individual felt that were kneeling at God's feet.

So the next time you are performing meditation, charging and cleansing your chakras, try visualizing yourself being released. Try shutting down this center of self. Let's take this and make it our own spiritual experiment and sacrifice our will for that of Spirit (insert your Patron of Faith here) and let's see what happens...

Spiritual War Is Coming

As we look around us, we see the warnings, we see the signs of a change in the tide. People are becoming more and more spiritually awakened, feeling drawn to discern the meaning of their lives, seeking salvation, hope, peace and rest.

And our government sees this as well and begins its campaign to disrupt and corrupt our system, to slowly strip away our freedom and privileges and pit us against one another. People are polarizing in all the religions. Some for personal gain, others based on fear.

Listen to this show. Hear what I have to say. Think about your actions and what you must do in order for us to find balance, not destruction...

Response from Ginger Strivelli about School Bibles

On Magical Truth Today's radio show for January 19, 2012, I talked about the pagan mom, Ginger Strivelli, who opposed the schools of her children's district allowing the Gideons to disseminate Christian Bibles to students and when she asked the principle and administrators about it, they said "we would allow the dissemination of ANY religious group" and then they refused her when she tried to offer pagan books.

You can read the Fox News article (which is where I got the picture from, but please remember that the article is conservative Christian biased).

I did a little research and discovered that Ginger is an active member of the Witch's Voice community. She wrote up a wonderful article on Appalachian Granny Magic.

I sent her an email, offering my encouragement and support and was amazed that by the time I had finished up the show for today, she had responded with this on how we can help:

"Write letters to the editor of the Asheville Citizen Times and Weaverville Tribune in support (as they are getting and printing many non-support) and you can call North Buncombe High at 828-645-4221 and leave a message for Principal Evans that you are concerned about a public high school having a football team chaplain, much less one (Pastor Rusty Smart) who is leading a harassment mission against other faiths...by bashing me and my kids online in those media Facebook pages and letters to the editor and news paper articles he is bragging about being he chaplain in and bashing me and my case in....Also the North Buncombe Middle School's wrestling coach arranged a big protest having all his team and their parents and him (a paid teacher) wear 'got Jesus' Shirts...to harass non-Christians last night at a meet and today at school....you can call them to voice concern at 828-645-7944. Both issues could be addresses at the central office 828-255-5921"

I would encourage each and every one of my readers (and listeners) to please contact these phone numbers because Ginger is under personal and spiritual attack. I'm so PROUD to see a Pagan standing up for the rights of her and her children. And as she does so, she is also standing up for OUR PAGAN RIGHTS!!!

What is a Psychic Vampire?

When we think of vampires, we tend to think of coffins, crucifixes, holy water, temptation and fangs...

But do vampires really exist?

In the last 30 years or so, there has been a group of individuals that have emerged, primarily from the underground goth, industrial and BDSM scenes who actually practice a spiritual form of psychic vampirism. Now there are those who solely practice in the draining of spiritual energy from willing participants and then there are those that are called sanguine vampires, who drain life force through the drinking of blood.

A real psychic vampire, however, isn't so easy to identify. Certainly those who are into "the scene" tend to dress the decadent part and that role play is essential to establish a bond or link. But there are psychic vampires who don't even know that they are draining spiritual energy from others and they don't even have to touch you to do so.

There are people you may have encountered who appeared at first to be lethargic and tired, quite the opposite of your current mood at that time where you were all cheerful and full of energy. A brief exchange with this person, a subtle shift begins to occur, you begin to feel exhausted and not as enthusiastic, while the person you are interacting with starts to burst with extra energy and anticipation. Upon their leaving, they are bouncing off without a care in the world and you want to take a deep, long nap.

Sometimes this can be psychological and that by interacting with that person, you may have uplifted their spirit with your words and their reaction and "handling them" wore you out. However, this isn't always the case.

So if you find yourself full of energy and are a step ahead one day and someone that makes you usually feel exhausted after dealing with them comes and tries to interact with you and they appear to be lethargic, try visualizing a brick wall between them and visualize a white glowing shield surrounding you. Then try observing that individual and see if you notice anything strange as you visualize them in your mind while interacting with them. Try to visualize their aura.

There have been tests using the old aura photography techniques that clearly show that the predator and the victim of these spiritual energy exchanges do have significant changes in their auras before and after the exchange.

Remember, don't stereotype these psychic vampires who might not even realize that they are doing it. They can be or look like anyone. And this doesn't mean that they are evil.

As for those who actually practice psychic vampirism, there is a code that they abide by and they only practice upon willing participants. The belief is that when they drain your energy, it leaves the willing victim empty, removing all energy, including the negative, so that pure, renewed spiritual energy can enter the body of the willing victim.

But if a hot redheaded chick with fangs and glowing eyes comes crawling seductively towards you, I'd suggest running the opposite direction (unless your into that kind of thing)....

Is Friday the 13th Unlucky?

Today is Friday the 13th.

Should you be on the lookout for black cats, masked men with machetes or using the Elder sign before you enter every room today?

This day has been considered an "unlucky" day for the last 200 years and framed in a historical reference, Paraskevidekatriaphobia, or the phobia related to this day is more of a recent development.

Friday was originally a day associated with the Norse Goddess,
Frigga, who was associated with the roles of wife and mother and believed to be able to foresee into the future, but never talked about it.

In numerology, the number 13, the digits should actually be added together, 1+3 = 4. The number 4 represents foundation and strength (though there have been more modern implications of the meaning of 13 in recent years, it has always been considered a mystery number. It is said that the key to understanding the Universe is understanding the number 13.

So at a surface level, Friday the 13th isn't looking so bad, is it? We basically have the meaning of spiritual fertility, insight and foundation.

But there's also another point I would like to make about the number 13. In the Tarot, there are basically two types of cards, Minor Arcana and Major Arcana.

The Minor Arcana consists of suits represented by Wands, Swords, Pentacles and Cups and go from the number 1 through 9 plus the court cards (Page, Knight, Queen and King). These cards usually reflect the impact of our direct actions and choices from MY perspective.

Then there are 22 Major Arcana cards, representing "greater than ourselves type influences", in which I usually suggest they represent Divine Interventions, starting with 0 (The Fool) through 21 (The World). The 13th card of the Major Arcana is Death.

The Death Card in the Tarot also has a bad reputation, but it shouldn't. It represents change and renewal. As most pagans believe in the cycle of birth/death/rebirth, nothing truly ever dies, but simply changes... And in times like this with the economy the way it has been, a little change would be considered EXCELLENT, but that's my humble opinion.

So the number 13 as an unlucky number is for the foolish and superstitious. I constantly speak about guarding your thoughts because what you think, fear or believe can manifest in the physical if any intent is put into it. As a kid, I had all these friends who were terrified of Friday the 13th and just to be a weirdo and to be different, I would mockingly say that it was my "good luck day". And you know, throughout my ENTIRE LIFE, I've always had good fortune on Friday the 13th.

So don't place your fears, worries or concerns into modern "pop culture" taboos. You have the power to shape and change your life.

But if you are being chased by a masked man wielding a machete, might I suggest that you don't look back because he always seems to catch his prey even though he walks at a snail's pace...

That Voodoo That You Do So Well (To Yourself)

Now before I offend anyone, let me just say that this post title is just a play on words and I mean no disrespect to the pagan path of Voodoo.

Society does heavily associate Voodoo as a negative religion filled with curses, hexes and zombies. There is also a light side to it as well. It's all a matter of perspective and understanding. People do fear that what they do not understand.

But the purpose of this post is to expose a simple truth about personal responsibility and actions. I normally do not discuss my psychic readings about my clients, however, I did just finish a reading in which I intend to NEVER read for this person again.

His life is broken, in complete chaos and in despair. Earlier in today's show, I was talking about identifying sources of negativity in your life and when looking at the people that surround you, start handling the ones that are bringing unnecessary chaos.

Now this guy, he gave me an epiphany after reading for him. I had read for him once before about a month ago. He had called last month to ask about employment and when I saw a job coming his way. He was conceited, pretentious and argumentative. I felt a banking connection to him as in the banking industry and he said no, he worked in IT as a developer, a field I am very familiar with. I suggested he may try looking at some of the banks in his area for openings.

He lives in a different country and a small region and said that there was only one bank and that his SISTER worked there (wow, duh, banking connection because she also happens to be the one supporting him). I told him to speak with her and check posting and to also check with mortgage companies or anything else related to finance. He called his sister and did NOTHING else.

He had emailed me stating I was speaking in "generalizations" and not giving him any real answers. He then tells me he's been disabled for 20 years and NEVER leaves his house. He suffers from fibromyalgia, a very painful disease. Now, he has changed several details of what he told me between the first call and second call (not being able to keep some of his lies straight).

My "prediction" that he wouldn't find work did NOT occur. Of course, from his perspective, I am to blame for this for being wrong. I apologized and gave him another prediction for this month, but clearly indicated just like last time that I saw him taking no action to make an impact or change in his life (I said that before and that's when he confirmed he never leaves home).

Now he tells me that he has applied for disability and if he does go out and get a job, he will lose his chances of getting his disability. So he either has to wait for disability and continue to rely on his sister OR find a job and lose out on getting approved for the disability.

As a natural healer who has also been attuned as a Reiki Master (3rd Level), I picked up absolutely NO medical condition in his situation, but felt a mental conflict and procrastination and laziness. I reviewed some of the feedback he has left for other advisers over the years and discovered an interesting pattern that he talks to them about these exact same things and conflicts. I confronted him and told him that FREE WILL was here and that it was his INTENT and his ACTION that would ultimately determine his outcome and that there was no FATE or the situation would MAGICALLY resolve itself without him doing anything.

After the call, I reviewed his feedback for other psychics again. This time, I noticed a pattern. Each time he leaves these negative reviews, the more recent they get, the more angry they become, the more apathetic they become, the more miserable he seems to be. I would like to help him, but I know I cannot, nor can anyone else. He must choose to take control and make the choices instead of sitting at home and hoping someone will give him the magic answer he needs.

Moral of the story, what you send out is what you will get back. This guy has cursed himself over and over again and hasn't even realized it. So watch your actions, control your thoughts and focus on manifesting change in your life or else, you will be the pig who will not want to get out of the mud and wonder why you are so dirty...

So my epiphany is this: Be careful that you are NOT the source of your negativity. There's no place in this world or the next that you can hide from yourself!

Why is Everything Going Wrong?

With life, there comes many challenges and obstacles that are meant to strengthen us and help us to better ourselves.

But then we are faced with those situations where everything seems to fall apart and we feel like our lives are completely out of control. The train has done jumped the track and is plunging straight into the icy depths of a deep swift river.

This isn't the time, nor the place, to throw your hands in the air and give up. There are reasons behind events when they occur like this, some are easy to accept, while others are like your medicine and you just got to swallow and suck it up.

Usually, the first place to look when your life is in turmoil is your environment and who you are socializing with. Stop and do a temperature check on everything around you and your relationships. Has there been a recent change that occurred just prior to the metaphorical poop hitting the fan? Has a new friend entered the picture? Have you purchased a nice "antique" piece of furniture?

Spiritual energy is connected to everything and everyone. Some people can come across as kind and friendly, but "tote around" a very negative energy around them, even if their own intentions are good. Also, if this new person isn't so nice, and they tend to overrun you or be oppressive, they may be sending out intent (even unintentionally) that could be the source of chaos surrounding you. You can usually identify people of the second kind I've described as people who NEVER take the blame for anything. It's always someone or something else's fault.

Also, items can carry the energy of previous owners. That's why I always avoid purchasing spiritual books that are pre-owned. I prefer that clean energy feeling from a new book, or even better, an ebook.

Dealing with the first problem, a person in your life will be the hardest. What you will need to do with someone who is good and kind, but carrying this energy on them is try to visualize walls and defenses around you and your property when they are around. Avoid if possible going into their residence or allowing them into yours until this energy around them is gone. If you are dealing with someone who is negative and overpowering your energy, cut them out of your life. That is easier said than done in a work environment, but you can do spiritual defenses around your work area and keep your conversations limited to that individual to direct points of business, the weather and "good news" in general. Reveal NOTHING personal.

With items or possessions, this is much easier to fix. Get yourself a smudge stick and sage it. If it is something that can withstand salt water, giving it a good salt water bath will remove that energy.

NOW for the part that can be hard to swallow... Remember, take your medicine. Review your actions and choices. Are you procrastinating? Have you wronged someone? Are you sending out things of negative Karma? Remember if that if you make your bed, you are the one that will have to lay in it.

So if you are simply harming yourself from lack of action, start setting small goals and working towards them. Stop putting things off. Clean up your environment (cleanliness is next to Godliness, right?) Your enviroment is a direct reflection of what is going on inside of you.

If you have wronged someone, make amends, even if they are not accepted. If that person declines, walk away and put it behind you and take a good salt water bath with some rosemary and thyme in it to purify your energy. Meditate and clear your chakras (search this blog on more about working with chakras or email me).

Last, but not least, you may be under spiritual attack. I will write more about how to deal with this in the future. If you need immediate help with this scenario now, email me asap and let's see what can be done...

Should I use Modern or Holistic Medicine?

In the 21st Century, there have been considerable number of scientific medical advances just in the last 50 years.

But traditionalist who believe in Holistic medicine that uses practices that have been proven reliable for thousands of years tend to not trust modern medicine and are hesitant to its use.

There is a truth that pharmaceutical companies are in the business of making money and in many cases, they put profits before their humanity. And we have also seen many people choose careers in medicine, not for compassion, but for financial success.

But does all of that invalidate the effective and proven results discovered by modern medicine? Let's take a look at Diabetes. It's a problem in one's body to produce enough natural insulin to balance the sugar and starches in your blood stream, throwing your body, energy and health out of balance. It can kill you.

Modern Science has found a solution for this and insulin shots and other medications, as well as a healthy diet can be used to keep your blood sugar levels under control so you can live a normal, happy life.

The things I see that takes away from people's personal power to allow them to control their own destinies as I wrote about in yesterday's blog post, is stress, worry and anxiety. Most of the time, these are situations that are directly related to our actions and responses to stimuli in our environment. Another words, we don't need medicine to control these conditions, we need a plan of action to take charge.

However, there are medical conditions such as bipolar disorder or clinical depression that may be the result of a chemical imbalance in our brains. Science has shown that a chemical in the brain called serotonin regulates how the brain cell sends and receives information between the cells. This chemical imbalance can be compared to a person's body being able to produce insulin to regulate their blood sugar.

So there should not be a stigmatised sentiment against you if you have to take a medication in order to bring these chemicals in balance. If you have tried the holistic approach and are still dealing with these issues, you should see a medical professional. Taking the time to talk with them doesn't commit you to follow their recommendations, however, you will be better informed. And if you cannot find anything in your environment or actions that is creating these medical conditions or "feelings", I would certainly recommend following your doctor's advice.

As a spiritual healer and practitioner of Reiki, I've seen in some of my clients some amazing results of improved medical conditions, pain relief and more that cannot be explained by modern science. However, if you are dealing with a serious medical condition, I beg you to speak with a professional and get treatment.

It doesn't have to be a choice between modern medicine and holistic. Both can work together and in conjunction with one another for a more effective result. But before taking any herbal remedy, be sure to consult your physician.

What is my Destiny?

When we look back on our lives, it is easy to see how our experiences helped shaped us to become who we are today, so naturally, we become curious as to what our future holds in store for us in order to gain some insight or knowledge into who we may be tomorrow and where we will be in our lives. Ultimately, we all know our fate in this life time will result in that final peace where we leave our bodies, Death. (However, I believe that just starts the cycle of yet another new beginning of Life).

In Greek mythology, the Fates, or three goddesses also known as Moirai, spun the thread of the lives of mortals, determined their course and its end. So oftentimes, we begin to feel that our life is "spinning" out of our control and that some greater force is at work.

To a certain extent, I believe this to be true. I do believe that during that time between Death and Rebirth, our souls evaluate the lessons we've learned over the course of the many previous lifetimes and discern what elements or aspects of Universal understanding are missing. And from this point, we, as spirit ourselves, designate specific events to occur in our next lifetime in order to gain those missing insights and perspectives.

But everything else that occurs within that lifetime, I do believe is free will. Our ability to choose and manifest change to plot our own course through life. So inevitably, it is your free will that determines your destiny and the outcome of your life or situation. And if you fail to gain the knowledge of your "life lessons", you will have to repeat them until your soul understands and can move forward to the next lesson.

So what I'm basically saying is that your Destiny or Fate is what you make it. If your life is out of your control, you have not exerted your intent, focus and personal power to manifest the changes needed. Focus on the little things in the beginning, like doing a puzzle, one piece at a time. As you line up the little pieces, the big picture will begin to take the shape you desire.

You have the power of Destiny. USE IT!

Personal Situation and Magic: Burst Water Pipes

This post is more of a personal one, not so much as informative.

Whether it was the cold that froze a pipe under my house, or if it was the construction crew down the street playing with water main as they are rebuilding a new bridge and expanding the street, I'm uncertain (although I believe the later to be true), I have a water pipe under the house, in the ground, just before it comes up into the house that has burst. Loosing about a gallon of water every 20 minutes or so.

Now this is something that people may say, "you know, shit happens". Or perhaps they may say, "there meaning to this that I must discover". Since I'm still waiting for my coffee to finish brewing, I'm just going to consider this a task.

The reason something like this IS RELEVANT to magical living is because it is important to discern where and why certain events are occurring within your life. There are some people who do have energy around them where "chaos" follows in their quake due to scattered energies. Then there's Karma and of course you have your "life lessons".

And when things can happen, it can make us feel like we have a loss of control of our situation. This can potentially lead to a loss of personal power and self doubt in our spiritual walk.

And if we sit idly by and do nothing, this seed will grow. So when faced with challenges, no matter how big or small, remember to use FOCUS and INTENT, and project an outcome while avoiding procrastination. OBSERVE a snapshot of your life in meditation and try to reveal the source of the situation at hand.

I have done so. My coffee is almost ready. This isn't anything coming back to kick my ass. I simply gotta get my hands dirty, climb under the house and dig up the pipe to find the small hole and use the materials I purchased to fix it.

On the plus side, digging in dirt can be very grounding and can help remove negative energy that might want to cling to you. And when you are done, the fortitude in your personal power to manifest change, by your very own hands, will make spiritual energy more readily available for you to manifest change later when you really need it.

LIFE is about balance between the Spiritual, Mental, Emotional and the Physical. In this case, my scales are a bit out of balance with all the focus on my spiritual work. Let's get physical. Sorry about that very poor Olivia Newton John reference everyone! Have a great weekend!!!

Exercise in Magical Postulation and Manifestion in the Physical

So you've been told that magic isn't real. You've been told that it is purely psychological, like a placebo and that you are delusional. You cannot manipulate the Universe, physical matter, etc. through spiritual energy.

Well, let me show you something that should put a smile on your face. After you've been working with some Visualization Techniques for awhile, this is an exercise you can perform that will allow you to postulate and create a desired outcome.

Pick up a quarter, you know one of the older ones with the Eagle on the front and Washington on the back (not one of the State quarters). This standard quarter is very familiar to us and will be easier for you to visualize. Now, while holding this quarter, pick a side to visualize and hold that in your mind.

Now based on the laws of probability, when tossing the coin, you should have a 50/50 chance for the coin to land on the side you have chosen to visualize on. That means out of 100 flips, about 50 give or take a few times, your side will win.

Let's take this a step further, as you are flipping this coin in the air, visualizing the side you want to be up as you let it hit the floor, try to project that image straight from your Third Eye Chakra directly at the coin. This Chakra is located usually between the eyebrows above the bridge of your nose (a very common and recognizable symbol used by psychics).

Take your time between coin tosses, focus on your visualization of your desired side, toss the coin, project that image through your Third Eye until it stops and then record the result as Pass or Fail. Don't get into a rush or hurry, take your time and do this 100 times, each time pushing more INTENT of your will towards the coin to land as you see it.

The first time I tried this exercise, I was actually able to get the coin to land on HEADS 74 out of 100 times!!! That may not be considered exceptional and can be easily dismissed as "just the odds", but since then, I've actually been able to improve to 83 out of 100 times!!!

When it comes to magic, you have to KNOW that it works. You have to be able to see and understand your connection to everything. Failure in magic generates doubt that would work against any work you attempt to perform in the future, so even if you fail initially, don't give up. Continue to work on your visualization techniques, focus on the projection of your spiritual energy that is an extension of self!

Here is an interesting video of a lecture from Professor Keith Wrightson, a Yale Department of History scholar, discussing the history of Witchcraft in England and Europe. I found the video to be very informative as to how the "Burning Times" really began to unfold and the conflict between the pagans of Europe and the Christianity.

Interestingly enough, something I've said many times, he has validated with historical evidence. Although the Church did have a part to play in the eradication of witchcraft hearsay, most of the cases resulting in prosecutions were by their own neighbors and friends through lower courts. And he also makes a statement on how the primary focus of the witch hunts were to oppress women and that most accusations were indeed started by women themselves.

In this lecture, Professor Wrightson discusses witchcraft and magic. He begins with the context of magic beliefs in this period, introducing the 'cunning folk' who had reputations as healers and were often consulted. He then considers the specific problem of witchcraft, the use of magic to do harm, and its identification by the late medieval church as a form of anti-Christian cult. He examines the distinctive nature of both witchcraft beliefs and the history of witchcraft prosecution in England (as compared with both Scotland and continental Europe), outlining the typical circumstances of a witchcraft accusation and what these might suggest about the rise and fall of concern with witchcraft. Finally he considers a number of unresolved problems in the history of witchcraft in England: the nature of the links between gender and witchcraft; the reasons behind the passage of the statutes defining witchcraft as a crime; and the exceptionally large number of trials conducted in the county of Essex.

Significance of the Pentacle

There are many people who do not understand the significance or symbolism of the Pentacle, sometimes called a pentagram and also a pantacle in the Thelma tradition.

The pentacle is a talisman that represent protection, but more often than not, there is a negative perception of its meaning, usually disinformation at the hands of Hollywood movies and Christian church leaders, who believe it to be symbolic of Satan or Satanic rites and rituals. It has even been inverted to display imagery of an unholy beast, most often tied to Lucifer.

Although some pagan traditions do in fact use the pentacle in those fashions of darkness, MOST do consider the pentacle to be protective and to repel evil and negativity.

It is a 5 point star encased in a circle. The circle represents the cycle of life and death. For truly nothing ever ends. A lush forest is full of life and energy, suddenly burned into ash, representing death and from those ashes, the nitrogen from the ash and other elements fertilize the soil to feed the seedlings beneath the surface giving rise to new life and over time, it will grow once more.

The star with its 5 points represent the 5 elements. In the early years of science, before the discover of elements that we find on the Periodic Table of Elements in modern science, early learners believed that everything was created within the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Interestingly enough, the Japanese also had yet another element of Wood, which was considered to be a combination of each of these elements together in harmony.

Some say that starting from the right side of the pentacle, the first point represents Fire, the second lower right represents Water, the third lower left represents Earth and the upper fourth point represents air.

But what about the 5th Element? No, I'm not talking about the movie. I'm talking about the soul. Spirit if you will. That driving force within us that dwells in the physical and expands into the Universe through the Spiritual. Many traditions call this energy Akasha, which is also synonymous with Magic. The top and fifth point of the pentacle represents the soul of mankind and its dominion over the elements, working together as one!

So you see, we are indeed magic, and if you are Wiccan, you acknowledge the existence of the divine spark of creation of the Goddess and the God that dwells within us that empowers our magic and connects us to everything in the Universe.

So the pentacle symbolizes the cycle of life and our connection to all things, as well as displays our understanding of having power over the elements themselves through our souls.

Magical Defense and Dark Magic: When it is time to fight back

One of the most sacred traditions and the highest law of Wiccan magic is "Harm None". This is known as the Witch's Rede.

It has been phrased and rephrased again among many traditions that honor the Rede, but essential it means use magic for good. Not all witches follow it, but many still honor and respect those of us that do.

But let's face it. We live in a dog eat dog world. Sure, you want to avoid negativity. Yes, you want to walk the path of light and goodness. But are there times when the use of force can be valid?

Think of it like this, if you were walking down the street with a family child, whether it was your child, a sister, cousin, whatever and some car stopped and tried to grab this child, would you idly stand by and allow this to happen? Of course not, especially if you can even be considered a human being at all! Only a monster could sit back and watch it happen and say what will be will be!

I honor the Rede. I teach the Rede. I honor my family. I will protect my family and if necessary, myself. I will not blindly "turn the other cheek". For there are those people out there, with ill will and intent who find happiness in the suffering of others or live in their own little egotistical world where only their feelings, wants and desires matter.

So I propose to you that when you are under attack, whether it be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, you do have the RIGHT to defend yourself. You can send it back to your attacker, but if that doesn't seem like enough to stop their attacks, you are JUSTIFIED in launching an assault. You must do what you must do in order to protect your own.

But keep this in mind... Do not aimlessly nor carelessly begin cursing people or looking for excuses to. Do not just assume someone is attempting to harm you or your family. You must KNOW. And you must be ready to pay the price if your defense or attack is in the wrong.

Some traditions that witches follow do not believe that dark magic returns to you. I do. I believe that our actions do have consequences. The Universal laws of physics of cause and effect are applicable in my spiritual belief system when dealing with magic. Many other religions speak of this as Karma. So if you are not in the right and you choose to curse or attack someone, even in defense, you should also be willing to accept the repercussions of your dark work.

Now, you have weighed your decision carefully, speaking with your spiritual guides, meditation and can confirm that you or your family are under direct attack and have decided to take action. Now what?

This is where you must create a very personalized spell, whether you call it a curse or a hex, and you must focus your intent directly back at your attacker. Be very careful with your wording and try to avoid the spell from hitting innocent bystanders of your attack, who may themselves be oppressed by your attacker.

A simple returning ritual that I used requires the use of a single black candle. Cast your circle, call the quarters and ask for protection. Then chant "With your blackened heart you attack me, I send it back to you Three times Three." Do this while visualizing the person and all the things you know they have done to you or your family. Keep repeating the chant until you no longer have the breath to do so. Focus on emphesising each and every word and put the strength of your entire body behind it.

Sounds simple right? Well with that much intent, this is not a simple curse. In fact, it is quite powerful. I've used it only once when under direct attack, so I do not use it without lots of thought, prayer and consideration. I have spoken before about the Law of Three (or the Law of Tree as some pagans call it). The Law of Three states that whatever you send out, good or bad, comes back to you times Three.

Well, take a look at this spell. In that precise wording, I'm sending it back to them 3x3. That equals 9. With the Law of Three, that becomes 9 TIMES 3!!! That's sending back someones attacks at them TWENTY-SEVEN FOLD!!!

Now the reason I wrote this spell like this was for one simple reason. It is clearly a defense dark magic spell because I inputted the words "With your blackened heart, you attack me". Another words, by its wording, it stipulates that the person I'm focusing on must be attacking me and I'm sending it back to them 27 fold. BUT, if they are not attacking me, there's nothing to be returned to them.

So by focusing very carefully on simple wording, I was able to avoid attacking someone who may not have been attacking me no matter how much evidence I had. So you need to be careful. You need to know for certain your attacker is indeed attacking you. Do not depend on gossip or 3rd party sources. And be careful what you say, you might have to literally eat your words...

First Magical Truth Today Radio Show IN THE CAN!

Just wrapped up the newly formatted Magical Truth Radio program. Please don't judge it too harshly. It is available as a podcast on iTunes and the Blog Talk Radio sidebar on this page should update with the show shortly so you can listen to it later if you missed it.

I was loosely prepared, and for that, I'm sorry. My main objective for this episode was to tell everyone about my ideas for the new format. I was concerned that I would have too little to talk about and too much extra time, but in fact, I had to wrap it up much faster and didn't get to speak about everything I wanted to! That's a good thing. That means I can jump right into the meat of the discussions next time and not use a lot of fluff to take up the time!

Getting Ready for First Show In New Format

Here in less than an hour, I'll be hosting the new formatted Magical Truth Radio on Blog Talk Radio. Got to be honest, getting a bit of the jitters, wanting to procrastinate a little, but no, this needs to get started and be done!

So I have my coffee ready, listening to The Cure and just getting relaxed.

Don't expect anything super spectacular today. I'll mostly be talking about where the show will go from here, sharing my vision, talk some news and provide some insights. I probably won't be accepting any incoming calls on this show. Let's hold off till Thursday's show for that.

Is Prayer In School a Good Idea?

I'm a huge believer in prayer and I think it is a vital component to anyone's spiritual growth.

But when we talk about prayer in schools, we usually think of its significance as it relates to Christianity. But what about other religions? Would non-Christian religions have the equal right to prayer time for children in school lead by their teachers or others in charge?

Some people view the removal of prayer time in schools as a violation of their religious freedom. Not so. People also have the right to believe in other religions or no religion at all for that matter.

So think about how a different religion's prayer dominating your local school system would impact you, especially if it was a religion that you are clearly against? What we need to learn is tolerance of others religion or lack there of.

We can have moments of silence that allows each individual to express their religious beliefs (or none) without offending others. Those who do not believe in any religion can simply use that moment for meditation or self reflection.

A prayer spoken out loud does not have more power than a prayer in silence. Ultimately, an enforced spoken prayer made in a public school with a large diversity of people and beliefs is a clear violation to those who do not believe as the leader of the prayer does. And in the end, it is only a tool to promote a specific religion.

Careful for what you ask for just in case the shoe is on the other foot!

Here is a video of George Carlin speaking on "The American Dream". Now this video isn't necessarily related to pagans or magic. In fact, Carlin was an atheist.

But this doesn't invalidate his views or insights. Yes, he was a comedian, but that doesn't mean he's not capable of speaking the truth.

I am posting this video because it is important to understand how ALL of us Pagan and non-pagans are interconnected. We cannot live in a society of separation where only the special interests of our group matters. What affects some of us, affects all of us. Call it the Butterfly Effect if you will, but as one group loses liberty and freedom, it results in a domino affect and pretty soon, that oppression will be on your doorstep knocking on your door.

MT Update: Blog Talk Radio Show Begins January 2012

Just want to give everyone a heads up. The new reformatted Magical Truth Radio show on Blog Talk Radio will begin Monday, January 2, 2012 at 10:00AM Central Standard Time!

The show schedule at this time will be every Monday and Thursday for 30 minutes at 10:00AM CST.

In the beginning, the show will be very unformatted because I have several format ideas that I want to try on for size and find just the right way I want to approach it. Initially, I wanted to delve into my philosophy and understanding of Wicca, magic and sort of a "how to" approach. But now I'd like to present it in a way that shows how to combine spiritual magical living with day to day life.

Also I'd like the show to appeal to non-pagans to provide information and insight to remove some of the biased opinions and dispel myths about pagans in general.

So please bear with me as this format develops and evolves into a standardized show. I want to keep all my options on the table. Looking forward to your feedback and if you have any questions that you want me to discuss on the show, please feel free to email me at questions@magicaltruth.com and I'll do my best to incorporate them into the show.

I've been asked if I would be doing any readings on the show. I may from time to time do so, but there are plenty of other shows that do just that. I'm not so much concerned about "showing off my skill" as I am about providing practical information regarding a magical lifestyle.

Are all pagans liberals?

As the 2012 Presidential race heats up, there has been a great divide among the people here in the US in regards to liberal versus conservative. I've had a lot of non-pagans ask me where do pagans in general stand on political issues.

That's really a tough question. Like any group of people, there's a great diversity of views and opinions. There are some that simply narrow the scope of their views to just what impacts them directly, while others ponder the political actions impact on the Universal Conscience.

Many pagans do support environmental initiatives to protect this planet we call home. Many Wiccans, like myself, feel Goddess and God energy in everything from rocks and trees, to squirrels and mosquitoes. Most Wiccans believe that divine energy exist within us as well, so that in and of itself connects us to everything and is the source of our magical power to manifest change in the physical/material plane of existence.

As many pagans work in groups, they understand the bonding that occurs with each member of their group contributing to the ritual or magical work at hand, so there can be a social element to their politics. Because everyone working together and helping one another only strengthens the group.

So in many ways, most Wiccans/Pagans are liberal leaning in a sense.

I do however have a very different conservative view. Although I may participate in group initiatives from time to time, I'm constantly aware that my choices to participate in those actions are my direct responsibility and do not belong to the entire group. I also believe that the more I put into my actions, the more I will receive from them. I cannot sit back in a ritual and do literally nothing and take credit for anything the group accomplishes.

Also, I feel that the US government seeks to restricts what we can say and do with our lives. Divinity breathed the life into this body of mine and gave me the free will to do as I choose with it and forge my own path. Who in the hell does a lying politician getting paid off by a bunch of large big business interests think he is to tell me what I can or cannot do with what my Goddess and God have given me so long as I'm not infringing on the rights and liberties of other citizens and I'm not harming anyone?

So I tend to lean more towards an ultra conservative view of politics and of life in general. If you put half efforts into your magic or your work, you will end up with poor results. But if you really dig deep and put everything you have within you and all your power, will and strength, you can achieve great and powerful things that defy the laws of the Universe as science recognizes them today. Your spiritual power through faith does have the power to change the physical and as you work towards those goals you have established and reinforced them through magical practices and faith in the divine Goddess energy that exists in everything, you can change the course of the river of your life that has been carrying you thus far into murky swamps. You can then see the beautiful sunrises on the oceans as the nature does its dance just for you because you have taken personal responsibility to find balance and harmony with Nature itself.

It's kind of difficult to achieve those results when one of your group members is thinking about how long that ritual is taking and how much they want to go back home to play their X-Box.
