"Let's grab a cup of coffee", doesn't really appeal to me. First of all, why "grab" instead of "enjoy" a cup of coffee? Can we linger with a cup and not dash down Madison Avenue? Secondly, I'd much prefer a cup of tea. Tea is soothing, aromatic, full of anti-oxidants and a daily ritual I savor. If you follow me on Instagram you've seen some of the mini moments I create around tea. I collect tea and tea pots like I collect shoes - only the best. Accessorizing for the Met Museum, Schiaparelli Prada Exhibition

There's nothing like spending a Sunday afternoon at the museum. Yesterday, I finally saw the Schiaparelli Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. If you love fashion, history, and powerful women, take your sexy Prada-heeled self to this exhibition. I'd like to add a note of admiration for the geniuses that came up with the frame work for this exhibition, curators Harold Koda and Andrew Bolton, who were inspired by Miguel Covarrubias's "Impossible Interviews" published during the 1930s in Vanity Fair.

Accessories:

Frederic Fekkai leather flower head piece - I got this at an event or some gift bag nearly ten years ago and never had the conviction in my fashion choice, to wear it out. A date at the Met with two powerful ladies was all it took.

ABC’s The Chew co-host Carla Hall, TV personality Alex McCord, PIX11 Morning News anchor Frances Rivera and 30 other influencers gathered at The Cell Collective, a semi-private personal trainer center on the Upper East Side, to unwind, reboot and indulge at Accessorize for Wellness hosted by Style & Accessory Expert Pamela Pekerman. I’m obsessed with interior designer turned fashion designer, style icon, and walking-definition-of-chic Kelly Wearstler. It’s no wonder, then, that my go-to hotel in Los Angeles is the imaculatly designed Viceroy Santa Monica. The property has all the bells and whistles we expect from Ms. Wearstler: geometric shapes, graphic prints, fun with mirrors and soothing luxury. The overall effect is swanky Hollywood glamour, swapping out gilded grandeur for California cool. I’m thrill to go back next week for Oscars’ weekend.

Get inspired to create a Kelly Wearstler-esque moment in your home. I’m going to start with the hanging plates idea. I’ll let you know how that goes J.

Mystery Monday, Accent a Room with Books: PAMELA PEKERMAN

I recently picked up a copy of Fifty Bags That Changed the World from HomeGoods for $3.99, as compared to the $20 I’d pay at a regular book store. After reading though most of it this weekend, I carefully layered the book, fan style, on top of three others on my living room coffee table. I, like many, treat books not only as a source of information, but as decorative accents for a table, shelves, an empty wall, etc. Styling with books normally works best with hardcovers, but those can get a bit costly. For affordable options, visit my beloved HomeGoods, check out the sale racks at Barnes & Noble (maybe you wouldn’t buy a book about the moon for $75, but for $20 you can mull it over), also many street vendors sell unique finds for several dollars (if you don’t mind pre-used goods). Ideally, you’re buying something you actually want to read – such a novel idea, right!? But, also consider colors and look for various heights and thicknesses. One thing I love to do is take a plain white wall, mount some ornate white shelves and add color via books. Have some books standing up and others lying flat. Use shoes, candles or mirrored box as book ends for a unique twist.

Thanksgiving is two weeks away, which means many of you will be hitting the road or the sky to get stuffed with mom’s yummy stuffing and turkey! If packing stresses you out, you’ll love Chick on the Go, a convenient wardrobe in a bag with five pieces of black and white clothing and two sashes. She’s the cool girl with the effortlessly put together ensemble and those perfect accessories you would never have thought to combine. She’s clever, creative and colorful. To me, SHE is Kirsten Yadouga Schwinn, the designer behind what will be the handbag markets next name-to-know – Yadouga. Yadouga is an assortment of handbags and accessories that exude boho luxury, or as Kirsten calls it “un-done luxury”. Think 70s glamour, a la Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall. The Italian leather, impeccable craftsmanship and attention to real-world wearability is what I would expect from a designer whose pedigree includes stints at Versace and Reed Krakoff.

For those who may not recall, I drooled over Kirsten’s accessory style in a recent post about her love affair with cobalt blue, specifically her YSL ring. You’ll see the ring and color pop up in Yadouga's Spring 2012 lookbook.

I love caviar – what Russian gal doesn’t? Those little fish eggs do wonders in my belly. Place them in a homemade blitz and you have the makings for the best breakfast ever. Turns out, I also like caviar in my jewelry, as well. Below is a sneak peak at LAGOS’ spring 2012 jewelry collection, featuring their signature silver caviar beading and some caviar-like bubbles in natural turquoise, black onyx and white mother of pearl. The later are from the love me, love me not group which embodies the essence of spring – the joy of blossoming flowers, blue skies with cotton candy clouds, and playfulness. Can you tell I’m already over winter? Until spring comes, I’ll just have to enjoy the thought of warmer days to come via these treasures from LAGOS.
