Dear Bagistas,

I’m living the jet set lifestyle, well, sort of. At 8am the hubby dropped me off at the airport where I left my fabulous fur behind and slipped into a neon yellow, open cardigan from Express. Three hours later I’m in muy caliente Miami! By 3pm I’ve purchased new flipflips (this was a serious BudgetFashionista-style mission, documented on twitter) and had lunch just in time to meet with the wife-hubby team of Luara and Alex of LaLucca handbags. I was really excited when they gifted me a one-of-a-kind clutch! LaLucca is truly a marriage of art and fashion and very Miami. Each bag really has a soul and a story to tell. (More of LaLucca coming up on BagTrends.com probably in two weeks or so.) By 5pm I was at TJMaxx picking out a few more bags for tomorrow’s NBC6 segment on holiday clutches and snagging a two fashion pieces for myself – I can’t help it. By 9pm, after several hours of working from my hotel room and having dinner, it was off to have drinks with Adrian Castro and her husband, Luis, at Sushi Samba. Talking about exotic skin handbags, plans for a double date in New York, and new Adriana Castro ventures for 2010 isn’t a bad way to cap the evening. Oh, of course, I didn’t forget to light my traveling menorah! At left, see my day in pictures.

It’s an early call time (8am) tomorrow for my NBC6 segment, which should air on December 16th in Miami. I hope you like all the affordable holiday clutch options up to 60% off department store prices. You'll recognize plenty of designer goodies.

Dear Bagistas,

Yesterday was crazy. At 10:30am I shot a segment for BETTER TV (which airs next week). Then it was off to work from Cosi (my faux office in the city) on 2010 BagTrends calendar of events and other loose ends. 2:30pm I went to preview Radley London's Spring/Summer 2010 collection - super cute, review posting here on BagTrends.com in a week. I picked up the most adorable umbrella - best swag of the week!! Then is was back to Cosi for some more work and then downtown to preview Matt Bernson's latest shoes. The evening capped off with dinner with my pr friend Malorie of CameoPR and then we popped into the Atelier Minyon jewelry shop to drool over baubles. A special thank you to Nichelle of StyleMom.com for inviting me to the presentation. I'll post a few images later on this week.

I can't, of course, let this verbal diarrhea post go without mentioning the bag I wore yesterday. My new CETTU tote, pictured below, got nine compliments throughout the day. What My Floor Looks Like Before I Shoot a TV Segment: BAGTRENDS

This is what my floor looks like the day before a TV shoot. Actually, this is after I've edited out lots of other bags - which will probably live in my work closet and only get returned in early January. HELP! I so need an intern.

The segment I'm taping tomorrow is for BETTER TV about holiday handbags. The four groups are: "little luxuries" from Saks Fifth Avenue under $75, "affordable clutches" from TJMaxx under $150, "secondary lines" from Elle Nicole/Danielle Nicole and Carlos Falchi for Target/Carlos Falchi, and "smart splurges" from Kooba, Be&D and Katherine Kwei. The Kooba London tote (at right with python accent) is amazing. I've been itching for a good olive bag and it took all my professional strength not to wear this one! But, back to reality. The best part of this segment ... every one of these handbags will be given away via BagTrends.com. Details will be posted December 14 and the segment will air December 15. Elliott Lucca Summer 2010, Which Handbag Should I Get: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

Last week I previewed Elliott Lucca, The Sak, Sakroots and Freebird summer 2010 collections - all part of The Sak Brand. I love this particular appointment for several reasons: the fabulous Andrea who handles PR, the affordable and stylish bags, the fact that smart questions are asked and notes are taken by the pr rep during the appointment, and getting to choose any handbag I fancy. That means, I get a bag from The Sak Brand about 5 times per year. Sweat perk no?

This time, I'd like your help in selecting the handbag I should get.

I've narrowed it down to a new silhouette from Elliott Lucca (see below). This satchel has signature woven detailing on the front, a generous opening, shoulder strap option, and plenty of pockets. I'm loving the white because I just need a new white bag and I like the tortes shell accent on the turnlock. The metallic navy color is also quite nice. So, which do you prefer for me?

Meeting Tracy of Tucker Paisley in LA, plus BagTrends Holiday Party: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

Last month I went to Los Angeles for a week of fun in the sun -- OK, actually it was more like a week of driving around in a car while the suns rays burned through the windshield. I was on a mission to find an amazing venue for an upcoming BagTrends LA Arm Candy Party (details to come). During my visit, I also checked out some of my favorite boutiques (including Arcade by Rochelle Gores) and finally had a chance to meet Tracy Fredkin founder of Tucker Paisley.

For those that don't know, Tucker Paisley, is an accessories brand that originally started out making handbag with paisley prints on canvas and quickly expanded into using leather and suede. Tucker Paisley also makes small leather goods, scarfs (one of which I'm wearing in this video) and beachwear.

Tracy and I hit if off so much that she's decided to come to New York and have BagTrends host a Holiday Shopp ing Soiree for Tucker Paisley. Michelle and I are really excited because we just love working with nice people and we both love clutches and Tracy makes lots of clutches. That's Tracy, at right, holding the Embossed Joey Clutch $155.

Finding New Bags, Plus Why Editors Go to Some Appointments and Not Others: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

After previewing Frye's Spring 2010 collection on Tuesday, I walked about 20 blocks (it was a shame to waist a picture perfect Indian Summer day) to preview collections from Wunderlich Inc and P3R - the former is a new, New York-based firm founded by my fellow Divas Who Dine gal Gwen Wunderlich and the latter is an LA-based firm. Sometimes editors go to appointments because they want to support their friends and don't care what is showing. That's pretty much why I came to this preview. But, I did find many goodies that I'll be using for stories on BagTr ends.com, as well as my work for TV, AOL's StyleList.com, and Twolia.

Although I'm not into t-shirts, let alone one's with text and images, numerous styles from Kid Dangerous' assortment brought a gitty smile to my face. "I Heart Bay Side" with the heart being the face of Zack Morris aka Marc Paul Gossling is a must buy.

On the accessories front, Charmed Circle had unique items including a caged heart that opens to hold gem stones and an envelope charm that open to reveal an engraved note you can personalise. I also enjoyed playing around with hats from D&Y, all of which retail under $40 and have a very loyal celeb following.

As for bags, spring's assortment from Anavaa Kisasa (which presented at the recent BagTrends NYC Arm Candy Party) had a very Wonder Woman feel and I think I'm going to start a new bag relationship with Madison Kelly NYC. The big, python shoulder bag I'm demonstrating in the picture below will give your girlfriends something to talk about.

This appointment lasted about an hour, mostly because I was delighted to catch up with P3R's Raphie C. whom I haven't seen since our days at InStyle. She was always the cool girl I looked up to - smart, with a sharp tongue and very good at what she did. I can't wait to visit her this week in Los Angeles. I'll be sure to wear my Kid Dangerous t-shirt (just as soon as I buy one) with a faux-fur vest over it, a Lena Erziak handbag, JustOne leggings and my Christian Louboutin pewter peeptoe pumps. I think that's very LA, no?

Frye Spring 2010 Preview Kicks Off My Day: BAGTRENDS

Dear Bagistas,

It was a non-stop day of spring 2010 preview appointments. I kicked off the morning with a Frye presentation. I’m not really a rugged, leather boots and saddle bag kind of gal, but Frye isn’t just that any more. Their offerings have expanded without losing site of their worn leather and hand detailed pieces. The Weave Magazine Shoulder Bag in violet with a woven lanyard-like rope handle, really caught my eye ($368). This shape is part of the assortment of huaraches. At the presentation, it was nice catching up with the ladies from the Bromley Group, which reps Frye. Karen Bromley is always a delight to see and her tribal-cool necklace was having its own fashion moment – just wish I took a picture to share with you. In my past life, I used to intern for the Bromley Group and despite my abrupt departure (long story – nothing too dramatic) I’ve kept in touch with Karen. Before departing, I was gifted a leather-bound Frye notebook. You really can’t give a writer anything better!

Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week wrapped up last night with the spring 2010 Tommy Hilfiger fashion show. The week was a bag-a-licious success for BagTrends, as we presented once again at The Daily Fashion Week Suite. This season Michelle and I showcased amazing handbags from Adriana Castro, Zara Terez, Emre New York, Passchal, 2ENLIGHT10, m. You'll never see me put it on the floor in the subway. It goes on my lap. While on the streets, if I need to grab something from inside I prop my bag onto a surface or balance the base with one hand. That's why I always use a purse hook. There are plenty on the market these days ranging from $10 to $100! The issue with many hooks it that they are either really ugly or beyond juvenile. Really, I need a pink circle with white hearts on it staring at me while I eat Miso Glazed Halibut at Asia de Cuba? Which brings me to Pavina Handbag Holders. A few weeks ago, I was sent The Ladybug handbag hook made from metal and decorated with enamel and Swarovski crystals. At $60 it's certainly on the more expensive side, but it's a very strong piece, a work of art and you really only need one so splurge a little and get something truly special. Consider it jewelry for your handbag. You've earned it. Oh, and each hook comes in it's own pouch for easy storage in your handbag. I even keep extra business cards in this case.

I got a call last night from my friend Jenny from Charm and Luck / Calla bags. She has a very cool bag/jewelry combo showcasing on HSN at 9am today. It will be a host pick and once you take a look you'll understand why. This Convertible Clutch with 4 Necklace Set can be worn in countless ways - Jenny counted over 70 combos. We went over them on the phone and it's really amazing. Where the bag with any of the chains for a purse look. Where the chain ultra long for a of-the-moment look that's spot on! Remove the straps and where as a clutch. Attached the clip ring for extra hardware. Where the necklaces together, individual, long/short, attached with a ring ... I wish I could have gone to HSN this time to show you all the great way I would wear them, next time! I'm working to see if Jenny can get us one of two for a giveaway ... Last night, Michelle and I went to a charity event co-hosted by Tinsley Mortimer at the Samantha Thavasa NYC boutique. The gathering was orchestrated to raise money and awareness for NYC Shiba Rescue, an organization that rescues and houses Shiba Inu dogs with a foster family until a permanent home can be found. 10% of all sales made last night went to this wonderful organization. Some guests even came with their Shiba dogs. Friendly dogs, great bags ... what more does a gal need?

How about a wickedly fabulous dress. This black frock I'm wearing is from Karen Millen, a UK based designer I'm beyond obsessed with. I walked by her shop in Short H ills Mall last weekend and flipped. The looks sizzle, the prices aren't that bad and she does accessories too. Thanks again to Saba at Factory PR for the loner - I'll be buying this sample at the close of the season. The evening's look was rounded out with Ruthie Davis pumps (again - I have to buy more!) and a pop of pink from my Teich clutch. In case you are wondering (hehe) that's Michelle at the far right in Victor&Rolf for H&M and the lovely Tinsley Mortimer in the middle.

Roaming Around with Michael Rome and His Affordable Handbags: BAGTRENDS

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of catching up with handbag designer Michael Rome whom I met several months ago at the HSN studios. Michael is the charming Florentine behind the handbag line that bares his name. His selection of classic crocodile embossed satchels and totes (and now a growing selection of softer leather and trendy detailing) are best sellers on HSN. Best of all, these Italian-made handbags are all real leather and retail mostly under $145. Amazing, I know! Getting to know Michael over afternoon tea at his showroom was a treat - considering I have a soft spot for all things Italian. His New York showroom welcomes you with a glorious portrait of Florence's most famous square, Piazza della Signoria, from the beginning of the 20th century. Michael's own home is just minutes away from the square ... hey Michael can I come along on the next trip to the factory? (It would make for a fabulous story!!) Well, maybe that can't be arranged over one afternoon, but I was delighted to get this soft grey hobo upon departing ($120 on HSN.com) and be able to snap away previews of the fall collection. Dirty "porno" colors (yes that's actually how I have been referring to these colors in the professional setting - it is what it is) of cognac, mustard, pumpkin orange, bourbon, and all kinds of browns dominate the season - keep an eye out for this major color wave for fall. Michael also has some options that work for the "rocker glam" trend that will sizzle well into holiday 2009. Enjoy.

Dear Bagistas,

If you've been following me on twitter you know that this has been a very rough week, to put it mildly. Tonight in order to distract my mom, we played dress up and tried to decide which Black Halo dress I should wear to tomorrow's Samantha Thavasa party hosted by BagTrends.com. My face is blocked - no reason to scare everyone! While trying the dresses on, I realized how much weight I lost this week. Family emergencies are the new detox diet - one I hope you never experience. But, I digress. So non of the size 2 dresses fit quite right, although #2 wasn't that bad and #3 can work with some sticky tape to keep the ladies in place. I'm a huge Back Halo fan and it's a real treat to be able to borrow their dresses. Every celebrity from SJP to Brooke Shields has worn their body-hugging dresses and this season's must-have jump suite. A big thank you to Saba at Factory PR for making my fashion dreams come true. She'll certainly kill me when I call tomorrow to see if they have a smaller size. I'd also LOVE if they have #3 in other colors. But why don't you decide what I should wear?

We're rolling out bag-a-licious Friday segments first, but more is to come. I'll also be shooting a fun intro video, then we'll add music and using our tripod. I hope you enjoy them. Today's video comes from the summer collection of Gustto. I love this yellow clutch. It's that perfect yellow that isn't off putting and works so amazingly well with white and summer purples. And, just to prove that yes I do in fact test drive every single bag-a-licious bag, here's a shot of me with Michelle at the recent White House Black Market Fall 2009 preview event. Are you not loving it?
