Unusually warm weather in San Diego

San Diego has recently had some unusually warm weather lately and to confirm that there was a report out by the government today that brought out how unusually warm weather 2013 has been across the globe. There is positive evidence that our planet is heating up and scientist have pointed the finger at green house gases from humans as he main cause. The burning of fossil fuels like oil and coal have raised green house gas levels causing the long term rise in temperature. Carbon dioxide levels are at their highest point in 800,000 years and are expected to continue to climb unless humans do something to curb the greenhouse gases. And isn't the cold weather trends happening back on the east coast pretty unusual these days? A recent storm that brought heavy snow from Kentucky to New England and leaving bitter cold wind from the arctic behind it. Crazy weather we have. Makes you think how unpredictable our weather can be.

Disappointing loss for the San Diego Chargers

Yesterday my home team was playing the Denver Broncos for the AFC championship. Everyone here in San Diego was really excited because it's been a long time since the Chargers were in the AFC playoffs and most San Diegans were looking for the Chargers to win. Sad to say that the Chargers ended up losing the game 24-17. I watched the 3rd quarter and they were losing 17-0 so I changed the channel. They played very poorly and it didn't look like the Chargers that I know of. Obviously Chargers fans are not happy and will have to wait another season. I personally didn't want to get my hopes up too high because they seem to do this every year and let us Charger fans down so do you blame me for the way I feel? At work the other day, my co-worker larry and me where discussing about the upcoming playoff game with another coworker who was expecting the chargers to win but Larry and I were doubtful that San Diego could pull off such a win and I guess we were correct on this one. I'm sure a lot of people lost a lot of money on the chargers. How do you feel about the San Diego Chargers losing?

My wife drove the car to our friend’s house yesterday afternoon for dinner. The dinner has nothing to do with thanksgiving; it was just a normal get together kind of thing and meeting her mom’s future daughter-in-law. I wish I was there to meet her too but unfortunately I had to work. My wife told me that her mom like the girl and they all couldn’t wait to settle down. My wife and I haven’t attended wedding party yet as couple and it would be nice to witness one soon. Whenever that happens I want my wife to wear pretty dress and look beautiful that day too. I heard her talking about the Dress First website and I was curious of it. I went ahead and take a look at their website and found a lot of beautiful formal dresses that my wife would love to have. They have so many nice dresses that it took me a long time to choose for a possible dress that I could buy for her.

I wanted to surprise her but since I don’t know the size of her clothes I think it’s better if I will just have her order it instead of me. Sea World theme park

This year my family and I want to take the kids to Sea World but we just can't find it in our budget to make it happen. Sea World keeps sending me emails about special offers for me and my family and it looks really tempting but I told my wife we just can't do it and maybe next year we will do it. My son keeps bugging me to take him to Lego land and my daughter wants to go to Sea World. Although I'm not the kind of father to deprive my kids of having fun, when it comes to a decision of eating or having fun at a theme park, I would rather eat. I think next year after the tax season is over, we're going to be in a much better position to take our kids to Sea World. I can't wait because my wife and I love Sea World too!

Monster Typhoon Haiyan Blast thru Philippines

It seems like all I ever hear about from the Philippines is bad news. I mean it's like one catastrophe after another. Mindanao just experienced a tragic event with the Rebel group MNLF terrorizing the city of Zamboanga. Now I hear the country is experiencing one of the largest typhoons in the WORLD crashing into the middle of the Philippines affecting some 44 different cities with destruction. You gotta feel for these people and the problems they have been facing. My heart goes out to those families who have been displaced. My wife is watching the latest news reports and weather forecasters say this storm is 300 miles wide and packing winds of 235 mph. This is a monster of a storm. My wife showed me a satellite photo of this storm last night and I could not believe the size of it. It was mind boggling. I always thought about when I retire, I want to live in the Philippines but I have since changed my mind because the consistent violence and natural calamities being experienced throughout the Philippines. And besides, it rains a lot over there. I'm really satisfied or actually spoiled with the weather we experience here in San Diego, CA. I have to pray and I ask my readers to pray for the people of the Philippines as well. We are so fortunate to live here in this country. Whenever I think we have it bad here, I think how much worse it could be.

Portable entertainment for cars

One of the latest trends in portable entertainment is the car DVD player. Usually installed right into the dashboard, these portable devices are changing the way people think about road trips. Even outdoor activities like camping have become more modern due to televisions located inside of vehicles!

The biggest benefit of this wave of entertainment is that it silences children and noisy passengers. The television is distracting and adding a DVD player makes the passengers able to watch all of their favorite movies, giving them a more personalized experience. Because passengers are enjoying the experience so much, several car models have televisions already installed or a special place in the design for them.

A concern for safety has also been brought to light. Many people believe that the television will be distracting to the driver. For that reason, the televisions are always installed in the back seats of the vehicle. For a van, the television can extend from the roof in the middle row. That way, the driver does not see the TV show or movie and their eyes don’t drift away from the road. The volume can be adjusted, or if the driver feels it is necessary, can require passengers to wear headphones when they watch.

I received a phone call several days ago from my older sister and it's the kind of phone call you don't want to hear. My sister just informed me that her older son Thomas, my nephew, had just passed away. I was shocked! My wife was shocked! We were in total disbelief. How could this have happened we asked ourselves? To a boy who had many years left to live. Well, to make a long story short Thomas had a fall accident at work years ago which left him paralyzed and damage to his brain though he would recover some of his communication skills as time went on. We were all surprised because doctors didn't give him any chance of surviving because of the massive injuries to his brain. Anyways, forward about 7 years later and he was making remarkable progress. His communication skills had improved so much so that we were expecting him to move back into his own home from the hospice care he received in El Cajon. Forward to Thursday and my sister told me the bad news that day. I don't know what happened but we are all saddened by the loss of Thomas. My wife, kids and I went out to lunch that day with my sister Jeanette and her husband Brian to give comfort to my sister's family and enjoy some close family bonding and here's a picture of us all together in Clairemont at Apple bee's. We should Thank Jehovah God for the life that he gave us. Life is so short so we should live it like it's our last day.

After taking the kids to school, my wife and I sometimes like to take a drive around town just to clear our minds and get away from our normal routines at home. It can be so stressful having 2 children in school especially when they both have different starting times for school. It consumes a lot of our time. I've been wanting to upgrade my phone for some time now ever since I dropped my phone and the screen cracked I've been wanting to get a replacement one but couldn't afford it until now. When the screen cracked it was just a small crack and wasn't a big deal as I could still read most of the screen but as time went on, the crack became bigger and bigger and it got to the point where I had to flip my phone different ways to read an article because of the crack. Our new garden

Me and my family stopped by home depot one day because we wanted to buy some seeds to start a garden. I have no idea how to start a garden other than to dig a 1 inch hole and throw some seeds in the hole and add some water. So we bought some corn seeds and went home and the seeds sat on the top of the refrigerator for about 2 weeks and then I went downstairs and started looking for a good location to make a garden. One that was established, I started working the ground and removing the weeds. To make a long story short, I planted the corn seeds and several weeks later to my surprise I seen then starting to sprout. I guess this gave my wife and kids some incentive because when they saw the results, we went back to home depot and my son requested pumpkin seeds, my wife requested we get some tomato plants, blueberry plant, some egg plant and some strawberry plant. I decided to get some chili plants. Forward about a month and everything is growing except for the chili plant but I should start to see some results soon. We're so excited to one day eat the fruits of our labor.

Problems with cell phone updater and my wireless carrier

I have a cell phone contract with our wireless carrier Verizon wireless and I recently qualified for an upgrade on my current cell phone to one of my choosing but there's a catch to it. I would have to sign a new 2 year agreement. I went in to one of their stores a few days ago because I keep getting a message that my phone has a new software update and I've tried updating many times but after the update is downloaded and starts to install, I get an error message that it failed to update and I can't figure out why so that's why I took it into Verizon. The associate I spoke to was helpful to a certain point. I really don't think he knew what he was doing. He downloaded the update onto my phone just like I've been doing for the past few weeks and he handed the phone back to me as the update was installing and say's "see, here you go, your all set" not checking to make sure the update was successful, so I said to the man, umm sir? The download failed again, see, look for yourself. and so I showed him and he was speechless. Then he says, I'm sorry sir but there's nothing I can do. You obviously have a problem. Yeah, you think? Well, it turns out that in order for me to qualify for an upgrade, I will have to pay an early termination fee of $200 plus the cost of the new phone $200. I don't think so. It made me so upset because I've been with Verizon for a long time but now I'll just deal with the problem of my current phone and maybe go with another carrier when this contract expires in September this year. I tell you, those phone carriers will do anything to get money out of you like hidden fees, extra charges, etc. Urgghhh. I'll figure out this update thing myself!!! I don't need your help Verizon!!!!! thanks for nothing!!!!

Online vehicle registration: Is it faster online or in-person?

This morning I had to get our 2007 Toyota sienna van smog checked for the first time ever. I was praying it would go thru the state smog check program without a hitch but first I had to go shopping around for the cheap price for the test since I don't have a lot of money. Most shops that I inquired to wanted $70.00 for the test but thankfully I had my smart phone and inquired online thru yelp and found one shop only a few miles from where I live that could do it for $50.00. My prayers where answered. I left my keys at the shop and walked to 7-eleven and when I came back, it was about 5 minutes more and they called me in the office to tell me they were done and our van passed. I inquired about the specific gas measurements that was taken from our vans tailpipe and they showed that the van was running very clean. I was happy so I paid them and went home to go online and renew our registration. That's when I hit a snag because even though the smog test results was sent electronically to the department of motor vehicles in Sacramento, California, it wasn't registering with the online DMV renewal service on their website. Nothing can be simple these days even with all the electronic technology we have. I was still able to pay the proper fee's but had to wait until their records were updated before they received my online request which according to them will take about 2 weeks before I'll get my new sticker. So much for online renewal service. Faster than going to the DMV in person? Yes, but it has it's problems. Oh well, one less thing I have to do.

2007 Toyota Sienna passenger sliding door problems

On my 2007 Toyota Sienna, the right side rear passenger sliding door has started to give me problems by not wanting to open when I hit the over head door switch, or press the door open button on the key fob or the switch at the side door pillar but will work when I pull the outside door handle or the inside door handle. I was going to take the van in to a toyota dealer but my wife made me feel guilty when she said that I'm a mechanic and I should be able to fix it myself so I got some help online by doing research and sure enough, there are many complaints about these doors on the web. I went to this website townhall-talk. and found a man with a similar problem who was able to fix his van. Based upon the symptoms he was having and it as similar to mine, I was able to do a simple test that he suggested which in turn nailed the problem down to the door lock actuator on the right rear door. Toyota wants about $1200.00 to fix it. I looked up the part online and found the dealer price at around $450.00 I found it at another website for about $125.00 Well, that's a lot cheaper than paying $1200.00 to have someone fix it especially when I'm a mechanic. Now I just need to come up with the cash to buy the part.
