To let go is not to cut myself off, it’s the realization that I can’t control another.

To let go is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences.

To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands.

To let go is not to try to change or blame another, it’s to make the most of myself.

To let go is not to care for, but to care about.

To let go is not to fix, but to be supportive.

To let go is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.

To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect their own destinies.

To let go is not to be protective, it’s to permit another to face reality.

To let go is not to criticize, or regulate anyone, but to try to become what I dream I can do.

To let go is to fear less, and to love more.
www.destinygodlife.blogspot.com

At the first-ever press conference in the 98-year history of the US Federal Reserve, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke announced last Wednesday what everyone was expecting, and wanting, to hear. Flanked by the Stars and Stripes as well as the flag of the US central bank, he said: "The Fed believes that a strong dollar is both in American interests and in the interest of the global economy."
This familiar litany is actually a worrying sign, however. The statement is always made when things are not looking good for the dollar. In one sense, currencies are just like people: Anyone who is genuinely strong doesn't feel the need to emphasize that fact over and over.Since the beginning of the year, the dollar has lost 13 percent against the euro. The currencies of emerging nations like China, India and Brazil will likely play a larger role in the near future, both in global trade and in the investment practices of central banks.

The fiscal policies of US President Barack Obama and his predecessors cast doubt over whether the US will ever be able to repay its debts. The rating agency Standard & Poor's has already threatened to downgrade the credit rating of the only remaining superpower.

To make matters worse, the low interest rate policy pursued by Bernanke's Fed will further erode the value of the dollar. The central bank is printing money virtually without limit to finance the US federal budget.

Last year, the world's central banks kept 61 percent of their holdings in dollars. In 2000, this figure was nearly 10 percent higher. In mid 2009, 54 countries had tied their currencies to the dollar, and already half as many had been pegged to the euro.

Chinese yuan, also known as the renminbi, has the best chances of establishing itself as an international key currency, trailed at some distance by the Indian rupee and the Brazilian real.

These are currencies from countries with highly dynamic economies and, in contrast to Europe, steadily growing populations. These mediums of exchange could serve as key currencies for adjacent regions, just as the euro already does today, and thus continue to push back the dollar.

But these countries would first have to fulfill a number of conditions. They would have to ensure that their currencies could be easily exchanged into any other currency, at any time. Furthermore, they would have to develop strong financial markets. Currently, both of these conditions are only fulfilled to a very limited extent.

At last, we have to remember that just as the dollar is not about to lose its importance overnight, the yuan's importance is not suddenly going to massively increase.

(Source: Der Spiegel)

You can get the full article here:

http://www.spiegel.de/international/business/0,1518,761398,00.html

www.destinygodlife.blogspot.com

A baby giraffe falls 10 feet from its mother’s womb and usually lands on its back. Within seconds it rolls over and tucks its legs under its body. From this position it considers the world for the first time and shakes off the last vestiges of the birthing fluid from its eyes and ears. Then the mother giraffe rudely introduces its offspring to the reality of life.

In his book, “A View from the Zoo”, Gary Richmond describes how a newborn giraffe learns its first lesson.

The mother giraffe lowers her head long enough to take a quick look. Then she positions herself directly over her calf. She waits for about a minute, and then she does the most unreasonable thing. She swings her long, pendulous leg outward and kicks her baby, so that it is sent sprawling head over heels.

When it doesn’t get up, the violent process is repeated over and over again. The struggle to rise is momentous. As the baby calf grows tired, the mother kicks it again to stimulate its efforts. Finally, the calf stands for the first time on its wobbly legs.

Then the mother giraffe does the most remarkable thing. She kicks it off its feet again. Why? She wants it to remember how it got up. In the wild, baby giraffes must be able to get up as quickly as possible to stay with the herd, where there is safety. Lions, hyenas, leopards, and wild hunting dogs all enjoy young giraffes, and they’d get it too, if the mother didn’t teach her calf to get up quickly and get with it.

The late Irving Stone understood this. He spent a lifetime studying greatness, writing novelized biographies of such men as Michelangelo, Vincent van Gogh, Sigmund Freud, and Charles Darwin.

Stone was once asked if he had found a thread that runs through the lives of all these exceptional people. He said, “I write about people who sometime in their life have a vision or dream of something that should be accomplished and they go to work.

“They are beaten over the head, knocked down, vilified, and for years they get nowhere. But every time they’re knocked down they stand up. You cannot destroy these people. And at the end of their lives they’ve accomplished some modest part of what they set out to do.”

www.destinygodlife.blogspot.com

But the true character and persona comes out when the things and situations take a turn for the worse, and become murkier. It is at these very situation and happenings that the indomitable spirit takes over, and you are forced to go out of your comfort zone to remake the things seem as they were before. Many of the great personalities have shown this to us, coming back just when the world had written them off, and called for their heads. Be it the field of sports, politics, business, or any other for that matter; from Sachin Tendulkar, Roger Federer, Indira Gandhi, to Lance Armstrong, examples galore.

The sceptics invariably have a liking to take things for granted, not caring enough to break the shell and see beyond the normal vision. This ‘tacit’ attitude of theirs is laughable, ludicrous and to some extent, despicable as well. But the great ones are not great for nothing.

They probably make a promise to themselves- to succeed, come what may. The promises one makes to others have to be followed in the letter and spirit, but it is the promise one makes to inner- self that is the most difficult to. If the accomplishment can give you the sweetest joy of all, the failure always, pertinently, continues to pinch your heart wires, no matter how you may try to convince it. It knows what you are up to, why you are trying to say what you are saying, and whether or not you are making it up, or telling only the truth. Perhaps, this is called conscience. And no nomenclature can put a cloak on the known to all, but admitted- by- none fact, that this very conscience, which lays us bare in front of ourselves, has to be feared, and always pleased. For, I believe, when you do that, there is no fearing the world. And when you don’t fear it, nobody and nothing can stop you from achieving what is truly yours- SUCCESS.

www.destinygodlife.blogspot.com

The artist, who was born in India but lives in Britain, has dedicated his 80,000 cubic meter work to fellow artist Ai Weiwei, whose detention by the Chinese authorities has drawn international criticism. The dedication is a fitting one given that the sea monster Leviathan in Jewish biblical mythology has been considered a symbol of state power since the days of Thomas Hobbes. Kapoor's sculpture, which you can walk through, will be exhibited through June 23 at Paris' Grand Palais as part of the annual Momumenta in which a different artist is chosen each year to produce an unique artwork for the space.
www.destinygodlife.blogspot.com

Recently, a German minister, Thilo Sarrazin was expelled from his post and party because of his extremist views regarding immigration into Germany. Though at the first look, he might seem to have caused a ruckus of every possible sort and tried to fume ethnic tensions, he did pose some very difficult questions of which we probably have no answer as of yet.

The foremost among them was related to language barriers. When one immigrates into another country, isn’t this his/her duty to learn the language of his/her new Motherland, and integrate properly into the mainstream, instead of trying to pose a threat as a new stream by colluding with his fellow Fatherlanders, and insisting his children learn and interact in the language of his erstwhile Fatherland only?

The second one pertinently and appositely pointed to the very fact which we all have noticed at some point or other, but feared or just failed to put through—Why does this immigrant populace fall behind in almost all, if not all, indicators of Human Development? And while they do so, don’t they make the adopted country fall back at the natives’ expense? The problem is even more manifest in a country like ours, where for example, we already have a 35-40% population living below the poverty line, and this number worsens on account of, say, an influx of Bangladeshi migrants. And why does the uplift of this populace, though small in number than the one already present in the home country, take longer than average to come to acceptable levels? A considerable chunk of funds, public and private, is thus ‘wasted’ on them for no obvious fault of the new homeland!

The third one, though not particularly relevant to the immigrants, relates to the fact of successful women having fewer children than their not so successful counterparts. Perhaps some of you might not get the point now, for, the problem is just beginning to show itself in India, but the essential fact of the matter is that it will at some point.

According to me, thought his ways may have seemed acerbic and piquant, but he did raise some important questions. And just rejecting his points vehemently without caring to give them a look altogether, is not what is expected of ‘democratic’ nations.
www.destinygodlife.blogspot.com

It seems ironic that years later Oxford University asked him to address its commencement exercises.
He arrived with his usual props. A cigar, a cane and a top hat accompanied Churchill wherever he went. As Churchill approached the podium, the crowd rose in appreciative applause. With unmatched dignity, he settled the crowd and stood confident before his admirers. Removing the cigar and carefully placing the top hat on the podium, Churchill gazed at his waiting audience. Authority rang in Churchill’s voice as he shouted, “Never give up!”
Several seconds passed before he rose to his toes and repeated: “Never give up!” His words thundered in their ears. There was a deafening silence as Churchill reached for his hat and cigar, steadied himself with his cane and left the platform. His commencement address was finished.
www.destinygodlife.blogspot.com

Ninety million Chinese, backed by a voracious economy, live on the other side. China's influence in Russia's far east is growing rapidly and Siberia has become the raw material supplier to Beijing's economic miracle.

China is at the center of many conversations in Mirnaya. But shouldn't the Kremlin be deeply concerned over what is happening beyond Lake Baikal? The border between the fallen superpower Russia and the People's Republic, which is gradually becoming a superpower, measures 3,645 kilometers, one of the longest borders in the world. And perhaps this border, where Europe's last offshoots encounter 1.3 billion Chinese, and where Christianity collides with Buddhism and Confucianism, is also one of the most important in the power struggles of the new century.

Could an alliance develop in this region between two powerful countries that would finally put an end to American dominance of the world? One of the two has the raw materials that the other one needs so urgently. Or will the land of Vladimir Putin become a bulwark against an increasingly self-confident China, and thus become the natural partner of the West? Or will neither of these scenarios come to pass, when overpopulated China simply swallows up depopulated Siberia?

A look at Mirnaya suggests that the third scenario could very well come to pass. Now that the planned economy no longer exists, few Russians are moving to an area where the temperatures remain below freezing for more than half of the year. They lack the incentives to do so, now that the government no longer pays fringe benefits and offers generous vacation entitlement to those willing to settle in the region.

Vladimir Putin, shortly after being elected president, warned: "Unless we make a serious effort, the Russians in the border regions will have to speak Chinese, Japanese and Korean in a few decades."

Sixty years ago, Moscow was still the biggest provider of foreign aid to the People's Republic. Now China is not only investing billions in Central Asian countries like Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, which lie in Russia's backyard, it is also making inroads in the Belarus of Alexander Lukashenko.

The world's biggest country doesn't quite know whether it wants to be part of Asia or Europe, or whether it wants to develop a Western-style democracy or install an authoritarian form of state capitalism. "Russia's death will come in either of two ways - from the East by the sword of the awakened Chinese, or through the voluntary merger with a pan-European republican federation," the writer and philosopher Konstantin Leontyev wrote in 1891.

Chinese Communist Party is behaving like a bride who is still forced to woo her groom, investing billions in its northern border region.

In Kiev, meanwhile, pimps will call the hotel rooms of foreign guests and offer to sell them "a good time with a girl." The advertisements to the right of a Google search for "Ukraine" are for "Single Ukrainian Ladies," "Women From Ukraine," or "Partner Search Ukraine." Although the group has only a few dozen activists like Inna and around 300 supporters, the topless protests have established a global reputation for Femen.

One year ago, half-naked activists warning against the "Rape of Democracy" stormed the polling station where presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovich was casting his vote. They claim that SBU officials even threatened to "break the legs" of the group's leader if she didn't cease her attacks on the government.

"The state fears Femen because they are increasingly targeting Yanukovich's government," said Taras Chornovil, an independent member of the Ukrainian national parliament.

Commanding the Shirtless Troops

"We understand that the root causes for many of the problems in Ukraine run very deep," says Victor, one of Femen's few male members. "That's why we take the concept of prostitution one step further: The entire Ukraine is a brothel."

The heart of Femen beats in a dimly lit cellar bar in the center of Kiev. The Café Cupidon is named for the Roman god of desire, son of the goddess of love, Venus, and the god of war, Mars. It's a fitting headquarters for the feminist guerrillas: It provides free Internet access, a mailbox for Femen and a 10 percent discount on coffee for members.

Anna Hutsol, a petite figure with red-dyed hair, is the head of the movement. The 26-year-old economist sits in front of her laptop, directing her topless fighters with the help of two mobile phones. She has positioned Olga, a fellow fighter, in front of the Prosecutor General's Office, where she is awaiting Leonid Kuchma. The Ukrainian courts have opened a case against the former president for his alleged involvement in the death of journalist Heorhiy Gongadze. Gongadze's decapitated body was found in the woods outside Kiev in November 2000. Kuchma has long been suspected of having given instructions for the murder, and he is now expected to be questioned in the context of investigation into the slaying.

Femen activist Olga bares her breasts for the lenses of the dozens of photographers who have gathered to see Kuchma. She holds up a poster: "Walk away, Lyonya, I will shield you,'" alluding to the fears that the Yanukovich-controlled courts only opened the case for PR purposes. "It's a farce: the statute of limitations has expired," Hutsol, sitting in Cupidon says. "In truth, they just want to close the file."

'We Want a Real Women's Revolution'

Since Yanukovich took over the helm, the Ukrainian security forces have become increasingly interested in Femen. In summer 2010, men from the Ukrainian intelligence service SBU forced their way into Anna's apartment at night. They held "preventative talks" and threatened to "break the arms and legs" of the Femen chief.

The leaders of a Kiev university recently sent summonses to several students because they were engaged in Femen activities. Then, in the rector's office, SBU staff interrogated them. The men asked students "where the money for your campaign comes from" and "for whom you work." Rumors about Femen have long been circulating in Kiev's government district. One day, the word is that the organization was commissioned by the ex-prime minister and opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko; the next, it's Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin himself who is supposedly supporting the project in order to ridicule Ukrainian policy.

In truth, Femen survives on modest contributions from a handful of donors. German Helmut Josef Geier, better known as DJ Hell, supports the group. They also sell fan items on the Internet and auction small pieces of art. To produce the latter, the activists first paint their breasts yellow and blue, and then they make prints on cloth or canvas. What would feminists, like Germany's Alice Schwarzer or America's Gloria Steinem, have to say about that?

Women's Lib

Old school feminists find the topless troops strange. "They dress like prostitutes," criticizes gender researcher Maria Dmitrieva wrote of Femen in a Russian magazine. "The display of bare breasts, with or without cause, is certainly not conducive to social discourse."

"Yes," sighs Anna Hutsol im Café Cupidon. "We're different from classic feminists. In order to gain a voice, they had to become like men. But we want a real women's revolution. Our naked protests are part of the fight for women's liberation. We have the right to use our bodies as weapons. It was men who made breasts into a secret."

"I think men like women's breasts," says activist Inna Shevchenko, "but they don't like it when a woman has something to say as well." It's not just other feminists who have expressed concerns about Femen's exhibitionism. Facebook blocked the Femen page because officials there suspected it was pornographic. Inna's mother no longer wants to have anything to do with her -- she recently told her not to call her ever again.

On the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster in late April, a photographer snapped a shot of the Femen activists, wearing only boots, underwear and gas masks, in the Chernobyl Dead Zone. The photos are supposed to appear in the Italian edition of Gentlemen's Quarterly, a men's magazine that, at least in Italy, likes to splash its pages with naked photos and confessions from female celebrities.

For Femen, it's not an issue: "We want to show the entire world our neo-feminism," says Anna, as she makes travel plans on her PC. In the coming months, she wants to travel to Switzerland and Italy to establish contacts. She raises her mug in a toast: "To the Femen in all countries," she says ceremonially. "To our plans to conquer the entire world."

Boards of control consented to development not because they saw it is a priority but because it seemed like A Good Idea, and perhaps also because they sounded so weighty when they said things like: "Of course, we're looking at China."
The issue of the associates not being allowed to participate in the Australasia World Cup 2015 has rocked the world...And teams like Ireland, which truly deserve their place, instead of an official "Test playing' nation as Zimbabwe and the often erratic Bangladesh, are the losers, for no obvious fault of theirs.
Moreover, this comes at a time when the ICC is saying that it is sparing no efforts in making cricket go global. But with steps such as this, the 95 associate nations, which only have a sapling planted of cricket, and no incentive to offer them, the plant may well die before even taking roots. That is why, cricket seems to compete against itself only, not global games like Football, tennis, basketball, and golf.
Moreover, when talks arise of its exclusion from Olympic Games, 2 very important things are overlooked-- first, it is played only across 12 countries in some competitive form, and second, that when you can't send your teams (not even second grade in case of some) to the international or continental Games which include it, a recent example being that of Asian Games 2010, I'm sorry to say, but you just don't deserve it! According to the Boards, the teams deserve 'rest' then, and the FTP becomes the priority, but otherwise, you can pressurise your players to play 45 weeks a year, including the lucrative IPL.
Sorry cricket, but with administrators such as the ones presently running you, you have to just relax and wait for YOUR time to arrive, and it will surely come.
www.destinygodlife.blogspot.com

The mule fell into the farmer’s well. The farmer heard the mule praying or whatever mules do when they fall into wells. After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbors together, told them what had happened, and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back, HE WOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP!

This he did, blow after blow. “Shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up!” He repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the blows, or how distressing the situation seemed, the old mule fought panic and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP!

It wasn’t long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, stepped triumphantly over the wall of that well!
