'Sadly, on this day, May 12, 2012, The Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Babatunde Sofoluwe has died', one senior University official announced on Saturday morning.

He slumped during a meeting with the school's management inside the senate building on Friday and was confirmed dead at the University's teaching hospital.

He was an individual who contributed to the country's development in many ramifications, most of which can't be outnumbered.

May his soul REST IN PERFECT PEACE.

G.O.L.D, originally known as Gold Usenekong, is a singer, rapper, song writer and producer who grew up in Las Gidi (Lagos). At the age of 11, he always took note of lyrics, meditating on them, miming them as well as developing mine from the source material.

He can still reminisce how he used to dance to MJ’s Starting Something – it was his favourite childhood hit. Back in high school he was a member of a group called G-ZONE particularly with his friends – They did lots of demos. Soon after high school he started recording solos privately (in his hood).

Consequently, he decided to step up his game with an unofficial song titled "KINDA GEL I LIKE" and "BUM BUM SHAWTY" (feat. IBRAME) which he term the “Prima-Impression” (His first impression).

Presently, in association with GIDEON (his homeboy), he completed a song titled MBG-NAIJA (Most Beautiful Girl in Naija) this is official too. The great #Grooving Life feat. JAYNE and LEYONNE is also out on air (everyone needs the 'grooving shii').
Favourably, as a student of UNI-LASGIDI (University of Lagos) studying Economics, he has featured in hall weeks and other private gatherings.
