Rena's Butterfly Mosaic School Project

Rena, mama's eldest adopted child asked me and Cheep last night to help her with her school project. She 12 years old and still in Grade 5. The project is to make a Butterfly Mosaic. Cheep and I then proceeded to helping her.

To make is easy, I drew a butterfly first on the bond paper. Below is my butterfly drawing. Just making it simple since we'll cover it with colored paper.

We cut colored paper in squares. We used three colors: pink, black and yellow green. After few hours of covering my drawing with cut colored papers, we finished the project. Below is the finished product. Cheep and I made it look as simple as we could, enough for Rena's capability so the teacher won't doubt whether it is her work or not. Rena did help a lot on this project so I can say, this is her work. She slept at midnight just to help finish her project.

Here is the closer and clearer look of the mosaic. How is it? Does it look nice? We could have used more colors but these three are the only colors we had. It still looks nice, isn't it? For a 5th grader, this project is 90 plus.

We'll see how her teacher will grade this work. She is yet to pass it this Monday.Good luck to Rena! I link this to 366 Blog Photo Challenge.

Latest Blog Layouts Made - Blogger Blogs

These are the latest layout designs I created. These are all for blogs in Blogger platform. I would like to extend my gratitude to these blogger friends, Jacky and Geraldine for frequenting my blog layout design work.

This is a layout for My Life Story owned by Jacky. She likes green and pink for a blog layout and above is what I came up with. I was also the one who customized her previous blog layout that was originally coded by Blogger Templates. Her previous layout was also a combination of green and pink.

This one is for Geraldine's Embracing my Past, Present and Future Life. She decided to make it all pink this time from her blue and red blog layout, which I as well designed. I've been designing her blog for quite a while now, whenever she wants a new look. I also designed her husband's blog layout.

This one is supposedly for my new scrap booking blog Scrappy Me but unfortunately, I couldn't configure the domain name that I bought from 1and1. I don't like 1and1 now for configuring their domain name to a blog in Blogger is way complicated now.

This is a new look for the The Three Chies. The used to be three-colored blog layout - yellow, baby blue and pink, now turned all pink, which is Cheep's favorite. Her color is now dominating the blog, as well as my latest blog layout designs. If you've noticed, all four layout designs has pink in it.

Getting This Blog UP Again

I finally think of getting this blog Up and Running again. The number of this blog's followers is enough reason for me to decide to keep this blog.

Some of you my dear blogger friends know that I created a new blog with a domain name www.scrappyme.com,which is a blog intended for all my scrapbook and layout design. That blog is going to be scratched out later on in the blog land since the domain registrant of the said domain is getting into my nerves. Setting up a domain from them in blogger is now too complicated for me. I tried a lot of tutorials already on how to set up the domain here but none of it helped, even the Google tutorial. I only wasted my money on that domain.

I might get a new domain name for this blog later on in Godaddy. I haven't thought of a final unique domain name to use yet. I have two choices in my mind though: collectingmemories.com and artisticmemories.com but i am still open for other new domain names that i could come up later. I am thinking of turning this blog into a scrapbooking, photography and blog layout design blog. I am just thankful that until now, there are bloggers who are asking for my work in blog layout designing. I do appreciate them for that.

Setting this blog up again is like setting it up for the very first time. I have to start getting traffic here again, loving my alexa rank while increasing the links in and the page rank. It will be a lot of work but eventually, i'll get there. I hope you'll keep visiting this blog.

The Very First Digital Scrapbook Page

I am looking back to the days when I just started scrapbooking. I wonder if there has been any changes... Well, I think there is only a few progress. Sigh!

I made it through Scrapbookflair.com using its free digital scrapbooking software. It was a friend named Ruthi who introduced me to the site after hearing my hopes to learn this digital scrapbooking thing and I was so happy then to be able to create my own digital scrap page.

Cheep Blog Makeover

Finally I did a makeover for my youngest sister's blog yesterday, August 15. I did my best to make it look the cutest blog ever as she calls it. Obviously, she wanted everything pink so I gathered every cute pink graphics that I can and put it together in her blog's layout. To make it cuter, I measured the width to around 700px.

Here's how it looks:

It comes with a 300 by 300 banner, which she can use as a profile picture of this blog's fan page in Facebook. She is still working on the fan page.

Of course, 125x125 badge is present too. It is a must for badge exchange in the future.

I did the makeover for her to be more inspired in blogging. I urged her to get back in blogging two days ago because she has a lot to write and a lot of photos to share to her possible blog readers. I can't have time anymore to write all of it in our blog The Three Chies.

Still though, we are still waiting as to when Blogger will lift their maintenance for I badly want to change the URL of her blog. I purchased a .info domino few days ago and I can't wait to switch her blog into her own domain from the defualt "blogspot". Since Blogger maintenance is still up, you can visit her blog at cheeplopez.blogspot.com.

Designing Restaurant Menu - Pink RC Restaurant

My youngest sister is an HRIM or Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management student. Last July was there preliminary exam. Along with it, they were given a project to create a restaurant menu or food menu. They'll have to come up a name for their restaurant, the cuisine and the menu. My sister seek me out for some help.

Here's what we came up with:

A 6-page menu that cost her Php90.00 for printing plus Php180.00 for lamination. All and all, that food menu-making project cost her Php270.00. I do not know how much grade she got for it yet but she sure to get a high mark for it as she is the only one who passed a menu of 6 pages. The others only passed a single-paged food menu.

Photos of the foods used in this project are not ours.

We've only searched and copied them from sites we found through Google.

Papers and embellishments used in beautifying this project are designed by Delicious Scraps.

I am so glad to be very inspired today to create a layout for this blog. I created this using the free version of Serif Craft Artist, a photo editing and scrapbooking software.

Since this blog is all about scrapbooking, I made a layout that has a scrapbook look and feel. Papers and embellishments I used for this blog layout are freebies I've collected from Delicious Scraps. Big Thanks!

First Attempts of FB Scrap Covers

I just got back into digital scrap booking. Thanks to my favorite scrap designers for inspiring me to make scrap book page again out of your freebies. :) You rock! I was inspired to make Facebook cover currently. I thought of adding some adornments on my boring Facebook account. These are the scrap book Facebook covers that I made so far.

This is the first Facebook cover I made which I use in my Facebook account right now. The quote as well inspired me in creating this.

Then Cheep saw it and attempted to create a scrap book cover herself too but I pitied watching her having a hard time coming up with a great layout. So I helped her out and this is the idea I came up with.

No Longer Deleting This Blog

I am taking back my words on deleting this blog. Just when I thought of totally erasing this blog in the web, opportunities came in. Thanks to those advises I received these past few days about keeping this blog. I am not paying this blog anyway instead, I am making extra income. So why not keep it?

Anyway, I would like to share the latest scrap book design I created out of Delicious Scraps' embellishments that I downloaded for free.

I created this so use as a cover photo on my Facebook account. I am trying my best to get back in scrap booking as I've lost interest in it these past months. Hopefully, I'll be inspired to create more of this in the future.

Latest Layout Tweaks for Geraldine, Shengkay and Sarah

I've been busy lately tweaking blog layouts. Thanks to these friends who reached out on me and trusted me in customizing their blogger blog layouts.

Here are my latest layout tweaks:

Geraldine's Embracing my Past, Present and Future Life was the first layout-template I tweak upon my come-back in blog layout designing. Geraldine has been an avid fan of my design, as what she said. I know it is true for she has been a returning costumer of my blog layout tweaking/designing service. Thank you for trusting me Ge. Here is the screen shot of the layout on her actual blog.

This time for her new theme, she requested a color combination of navy blue and light red from the old purple-white combo, which I also designed about eight months ago.

Shengkay made a blog for her cute daughter - her rainbow called Iris Joehanna's World, it was my second blog tweaking job. This blog of Sheng's as well the second blog tweaking service I made for her for I was the one who tweaked her other blog, the home of Orange Tuesdays few months ago, which was the last layout job I did before my computer crashed and had corrupted all the installed software I needed for blog tweaking.

Anyway, you might wonder why there are two layouts. The first layout I made, as per the blog owner's request was to have both sidebars on the left. But at the last minute, Shengkay decided to have them on both sides making the posts located in the center and making its background light pink. So here comes the new layout design - the "all pink combo". I can say the color is perfect for a cute baby girl's blog.

The last and definitely won't be the least layout tweaking job I did was Sarah's Bloggista Momma. Sarah had been contacting me many months back regarding my service and few weeks ago, I finally got the time to entertain her queries. She asked me to tweak Blogista Momma, which used to be called Journey for Life. She recently changed its blog name into a new one because she is now a mother and a blogger. I personally find the new blog name cool and is appropriate to her new role in life.

Below is the screen shot of her blog after the installation of her new layout.

Sarah requested a brown-light brown-white color combination for backgrounds and black-pink-green for font colors. It took me quite a while to figure out a perfect blend of colors and gladly after two weeks, I came up with this neat theme. And when I send Sarah the copy of the whole layout, she immediately demanded for installation to my surprise. Thank you so much Sarah.

Blog Update and The New Look of My New Blog

This blog had been quite for a while because I have rested from making scrap books. I did plan to come back to scrap booking hobby but now that the laptop where I installed the software for making scrap book layouts is not working, there's no way I can make one layout in the following days. I'm just glad I was able to finish the layout for my blog Unmasked Thoughts which is now named Unmasked Thoughts on Fun and Entertainment.

How to create Facebook banners using Photoscape?

I am a curious cat. I won't stop researching, learning and analyzing until I learn what I am curious to learn about. Lately, Facebook banners had been bugging my thoughts. How to create my own? I thank Photoscape for helping me throughout the process of creating one. I used Photoscape Editor and Splitter in the process.

How did I make a Facebook banner using the free photo editing software, Photoscape?

1. Designing/resizing your banner. Using Photoscape photo editor, you can design and resize your banner. You have options: either you resize first the background of the banner then add your design/personalization or you add your design and personalization on your background first before resizing. The background should be a long rectangle. I did the first option.

- I made a long rectangle by clicking on ‘object’ then the ‘square’ icon in the editor.
- I resized it into 485x68 pixels.
- Then I added personal touches to it - a cropped picture of my eyes and texts.
- Then I saved it.

2. Resizing your banner. If you have already finalized your design, you can then resize. Simply click on ‘resize’ button found in editor. Uncheck preserve resize ratio so you can input the right FB banner size which is 485width x 68height and then click save.

3. Splitting your your banner. Navigate back to the home menu of Photoscape by clicking Photoscape option located at the upper left. Then click on 'splitter'.

While in the splitter, add your saved custom banner then set the columns to 5 and row to 1. After that, click SPLIT and then save as to a desired folder or use photoscape default folder - output by simply clicking save and ok.

Then upload it to your album in Facebook and tag yourself. I am sure you know how to tag the split photos for your banner to work. For those who do not know, I'll make a separate post about it.
