E' inevitabile affezionarsi ad un personaggio come quello di Walt. Personalmente mi ci sono identificato parecchio. Escludendo il backgroud militare, il suo carattere introverso schivo e razzista, pronto a mandare a cagare il prossimo per un nonnulla, è sempre stato latente in me, e viene fuori nelle situazioni di quotidiana routine. Proprio come la sua. Un solitario, abitudinario, pensionato, patriota e vedovo non puo' essere altrimenti che un burbero del cazzo. Questo è quello che c'è all'esterno della carrozzeria. Esattamente il contrario della sua meravigliosa e splendente Ford Gran Torino. Affascinante e brillante. Ma sempre taciturna ed immobile. Clint non ci ha mai fatto sentire il suo rombo. Questo è uno di quei casi. Così come per il suo aspetto fisico, in particolare la sua evoluzione fisica, ma anche per il suo trascorso verso una precipitosa picchiata nell'anonimato. Mickey, umilissimo, interpreta la disperazione insieme all'orgoglio di un personaggio eccentrico e solo. "Quando vivi al massimo bruci la candela dai 2 lati". Esasperato, buffo e triste si accontenta di dividere un po' di tempo con una spogliarellista, meravigliosa Marisa Tomei, che dimostra affetto per lui ma allo stesso tempo riluttanza.
