The game play is quite straightforward, there are three pieces that need to be snapped together by an adult but once you’ve done that all you need to do is set up the AT-AT however you like, launch an Angry Bird, and destroy! The simplicity and flexibility makes this game a fun option for anyone who enjoys the concept of build and destroy, as well as Angry Birds and Star Wars fans alike.

The AT-AT can be a little difficult to set up, especially if you don’t have a steady hand. I found the best way to place the pieces without them falling over was to make sure they were being placed evenly in groups of two or more so they could steady each other and balance the weight. Place the AT-AT head last, otherwise it will topple the entire platform.

The figures are on the small side so the game is rated for children age 5 and over, but my 4 year old daughter enjoys this game much more than my older kids do. My boys are 12 and 13 and the issue that they had is that they had a hard time setting up the AT-AT without it being knocked over before they were done. As you can imagine, with 4 kids gathering together trying to place the light weight pieces on top of the platform it got knocked down quite a few times! My boys are low on patience, and were quickly frustrated. My 8 year old daughter didn’t get nearly as frustrated as my boys did, and thoroughly enjoyed plating the AT-AT Attack game with my youngest for some time.

My kids had their first summer camp experience in 2010 when they got to join the summer camp program offered by one of our local church groups, and they’ve gone to the same camp ever since. I’m thankful for this because I wouldn’t be able to afford to send them otherwise but this year I’ve been looking at some other options.

I’ve got to admit, frozen dinners are not something that I normally add to my shopping list. When I was given the opportunity to review some of the Weight Watchers Smart Ones selections, I had a good look around their website before I made my decision. What I found was a large assortment of healthy, portion controlled meals in convenient single serve frozen dinners. I liked what I saw.

When allergies or food intolerances are an issue, having to go to a store and check each individual package for the ingredients list can make shopping a less than enjoyable experience. As someone with an uncommon intolerance to onions, I can appreciate that I was able to see the full ingredient list for each variety directly on their website which was much easier than trying to read the tiny wording on the side of the box. You can also use the search function on their website to narrow down your results by your favourite main ingredients or the Weight Watchers daily Point Value.

Each meal clearly indicates it’s Weight Watchers Point value, calories, fibre,  fat, and protein content on the front of the packaging, which can certainly help take the stress out of your daily menu planning even without using the website.

My thoughts:

It turned out that my son did the shopping for me, and I had told him to pick out anything he thought I would like. His choices were right on with my taste, but only one of the three did not have onion in them which was thankfully not a big problem. I realize that onions aren’t going to be a problem for many people, but I decided to make mention of them since they do affect my experiences.

My son chose three of their Gourmet selections, but Smart Ones come in a large assortment which includes meals suitable for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All three of these meals did indeed fill me up, but if you have a bigger appetite the Smart Ones Satisfying Selections offer 4 varieties that are 30% larger than these are.

Thai-style Chicken & Rice Noodles

If you enjoy the Thai Sesame Salad that is available at the deli counter at Safeway or other retailers, then you will enjoy the Smart Ones Thai-style Chicken & Rice Noodles. It’s a little on the spicy side, but I thought it to be milder than many spicy foods and it really did taste very good. There was just enough sauce to nicely coat all the noodles, and even though there were only 5-6 pieces of chicken they were big enough to break apart to make them more spread out.

Stone-Fired Crust Fajita Chicken Pizza

The Stone-Fired Crust Fajita Chicken Pizza is a little bit larger than the average single serving frozen pizza, and I was a bit reluctant to cook it in the microwave. Any time I have made a frozen pizza in the microwave it has ended up being soggy, not something that I enjoy. Fortunately that wasn’t the case with the Smart Ones Pizza, thanks to the silver tray provided with the packaging the crust was crispy yet soft just the way I like it. The box is designed to be folded into a platform to use right in the microwave along with the silver tray which means an additional plate is not necessary. A great feature when eating on the go, at work or at school.

Since the pizza had onions on it, I did have to pick those off but the pieces were big enough that it was easy to spot and remove them all without any hassle. In fact, all of the toppings on this pizza were bigger than I had expected which is definitely a good thing.

Orange Sesame Chicken

The Orange Sesame Chicken was my least favorite of the three, it didn’t taste terrible or anything but the sesame orange sauce didn’t quite taste like any I’ve tried before. I determined this may be due to it being sweetened with sucralose, a sweetener that I rarely use. It only had 4 pieces of breaded chicken, but each of these were big enough to cut into at least 3 pieces and once cut up were plenty for the overall dish. This one also has onions in the ingredients list, but they weren’t visible since they were only a part of the seasoning and there wasn’t enough of them present to make my stomach upset.
