I decided I would crop a little off the top (the third light is now gone) and bottom. It just seemed like dead space.

So I'm done! I'll have some final thoughts about the painting later.

Cake! Plus I repainted several small areas throughout the painting, including the lights reflected in the countertop and the little space to the left of the stove. I've been doing a lot of pushing and pulling of the various spaces by softening or strengthening edges and by making subtle modifications to tone and hue.

In August, my 3-year old daughter decided to change her sleeping schedule (without consulting me!) so it has been hard to get any consistent painting time in at night. I did, however, manage a couple sessions recently and made some significant changes. I decided that I would crop a couple inches off the left side of the canvas (seen here blacked-out) because it just felt unnecessary to me and thus distracting from the rest of the composition. I'll cut it off once the painting is complete. I worked on the fridge (where you can see some recent work by my daughter) as well as the pantry doors. In addition, I revisited several small passages throughout the painting.

I got sidetracked from the painting this Summer but I hope to do some consistent work on it over the next few weeks. I've painted the tiled floor a few times and in a recent session I had to reestablish the drawing with pencil (which I will be painting on tonight.) I also painted in a rough semblance of the marble counter in the foreground and adjusted it's perspective a few degrees. Click image to enlarge:
