Creative Brief

Summary
Tailored Coffee is a coffee house specializing in coffee beans from Peru. They will bring the cool Austin vibe to Cedar Park, while offering a comfortable, relaxing environment and great coffee/food. There will be live music, a patio, special workshops, an art gallery and a children’s section. Taking the time to plan out poetry slams, live bands, dog days and workshops, are what will put us ahead of our competition.

Current Situation
Tailored Coffee is a new coffeehouse that is looking to bring Austin to the suburbs. This spurs from the idea of loving the cool, hip coffee shops in Austin, but hating the drive. Tapping into that niche and offering the same grit service and food will bring in clients that would normally drive into Austin.

Proposal
Tailored Coffee is looking to launch a new website at www.tailoredcoffee.com. This site needs to be easy to navigate for all ages, as well as informative to help keep customer informed. We will need a contact section, calendar/events section, a menu section and a gallery section to show the art being displayed in the store,

Tone
The tone of our company and website should be hip and informative. The concept of bring Austin to Cedar Park is new and should be an easy sell with the laid-back atmosphere and relaxing environment.

Target Audience
Coffee lovers are our main audience, but with the expanding menu, teas and Italian sodas, we want to appeal to all people We have products for ages 5 and up, as well as both men and women, but mainly young families. Since our products are of wide variety, we are open to a larger market financially.

Goals
This site should be interactive and so interesting that people will want to not only want to keep exploring, but will want to come in the shop. Word of mouth is a great form of advertising that will bring more customers to our site and store. The site will also allow us to survey patrons and their interests.

Message
Tailored Coffee is a fun, hip, relaxing place with great coffee, food, music and art. Our customer service is our highest priority and we go the extra step to give the customer what they want.

She ends up falling asleep while eating rocky road ice cream out of the tub on the couch and wakes up to melted ice cream everywhere. She gets up to clean the mess and throws all of her clothes in the laundry, except the panties, which make it into the trash. After a long hot shower, she puts on just her day of the week panties and climbs into bed to finish sleeping until her shift.

After school he takes his best friend Sam to the comic book store to pick up the newest arrivals. After all his errands are run, he goes home to a dinner with the family. After he has pushed his food apart on the plate and finished his meal, he heads upstairs for homework. His extremely clean room and desk make it ideal for him to study. Once he has completed his homework, he crawls into bed in his button down pajama set and reads the book he has been reading every night for the last five years, over and over, to where he knows it by heart. In the morning he will discard his daily underwear and pick out the new day to start fresh (after touching the door knobs, of course).

Betsey Johnson Shoes is looking to redesign their website into a more user friendly, easy to navigate and modern site. While we currently have shoes among our collection, we want to branch out and focus on shoes while expanding into a larger collection. Betsey Johnson shoes must be able to sell themselves at first glance. Increasing our shoe branch will allow our company as a whole to grow and expand into new regions and price points.

By targeting these women with a more modern site and expanded product line we are able to control more of the market share and aim to become the number one mid-priced shoe company in the world.

Betsey Johnson’s shoe line has the go-to shoes for a night out on the town without breaking the budget.

Requirements

The requirements for this website are to lighten the look and feel of the website while keeping the signature colors of black and hot pink. In addition to the color scheme, the site should be designed at 1024x760 and be extremely user friendly. The site should open with a small flash slide show of our shoes of that week (to be changed weekly) and have a skip intro button to save some people. The site should allow people to sort by the defaults of price and color, but also by keywords like “sexy” and “ hardworking”. This site should link to our clothing website to allow customers to purchase from both at the same time.

This was a multiplicity project. It is several pictures merged into one, to look like there are several of the same thing in the same picture.
This was another multiplicity picture with my pugs in the backyard.

These next three were part of a "campaign" I created for a this project. It is a play on Mother Earth talking to us through the things she gives us.

This class was a lot of fun and I was able to try out new things.
This one was our final. We were to pick any artist, find an article/interview with them and make a new four page spread layout with that article. I love this artist and if you don't know about her....look her up. She will make you re-think design.

This was a newsletter design we did earlier in the quarter. I was trying to be practical and used Jennifer's building as my client. This was challenging and fun. It has two sides and folds in half horizontally and then vertically.

OMG...This is another great artist. This was another 4 page spread layout that we were to do on an artist. She does some really cool stuff and you should check her out ASAP.

Overview of Projects from Graphic Symbolism Class

This project was our final. We had to make up a company that was opposite of our beliefs. I had a hard time thinking of something, and went with a gas company based on the cost of gasoline. We had to create a symbol that was based on typography, one that was symbolic and one that was descriptive. There was a whole back story and paper, but that is the boring part.

We had to create a logo for ourselves based on another paper we wrote. I always have a hard time designing for myself, but I really like how this turned out.

This is another version of my personal logo. This was the original but I changed it up and made it monotone, which I like much more.

This was one of our first projects, We were given words and we had to create a symbol that was basic and could cross cultural lines and language barriers. The family one is my favorite.

This was a 3D class trying to help us think outside the box.

This was a Serial Plane project. We were to take a shape and then break it down into planes. Here is my inspiration: a classic glass decanter.

Final Project...with removable top

This was a simple take home project. Take paper strips and create something. The first one I did in class looked horrible. This is the new one I did after sitting down in my studio and just knocking it out. The base is a thick mat board (11x17).

Spatial Cell project. I did not get a picture of the final but here is the computer mock up. This was also the second attempt...the first one is so bad it makes me cry and laugh when I think about it.

This was a group project where we had to do a full size cardboard cut out. This was the base. I did not get a picture of the final, but it has a black bar over the "censored" area and a tie that was hand painted by a classmate to say "it's my birthday".

The last project in this class was package design. I do not have pictures of the final products and point of purchase display but I will as soon as it goes up for display. My product was girl fishing equipment...called hook, line and sinker. Here is the logo.
