Robert would swear on his life to say it is absolutely true.
Till that morning he knew it as a line from his favorite author book, but now he is feeling it. A lot of things are going through his mind.
But he is certain about his decision that lead him here.
He made the biggest mistake of his life.

Tied down completely, he is unable to move an inch.
Recollecting where he is and what happened, Robert is trying to cut loose from the rope he is tied to.
All he could see around is the sight of tall trees and a red pickup truck.
He noticed the vehicle as the one he travelled in.
His actions and thoughts halted as he heard footsteps approaching.
He could see a person taking something from the back of the vehicle and moving towards him.
The last thing he saw was a sledge hammer right in front of his eyes.

It is a bright and hot sunny day.
The humidity is so less and temperature is too high that even the sweat would evaporate in that area.
One would feel like moving near a furnace on that highway.
No signs of living creatures on or either side of it as far as the human eye could see.

A Black Beamer is crusing on the deserted highway at 100mph just like a rock rolling down the hill.
Nash is frustated looking at the signboard on the right side of the highway which says "Next gas Station - 56
miles Away"
It has been half an hour since he saw anything on either side of the highway.
Seeing the signboard he hits the gas paddle with some more thrust.

Nash decided to calm down his nerves and listen to the song coming from the Beamer Bose speakers.
He figured its a song by Nine Inch Nails.
It Says
"I believe I can see the future because I repeat the same routine
I think I use to have a voice, now I never make a sound."
Somehow he thinks the song as a mirror image of his life.
He is not sure how long he is doing the same stuff everyday.
To break the routine he decided to go on a long drive and that doesn't help him much.
"Everyday is excatly the same" - the song continues......

Suddenly Nash hears a big sound as he looses control over his driving.
The beamer skids off the road, wobbles and eventually settles down after hitting the speed limit sign.
The seat belt and the air bag helped him a lot from getting injured. But he couldn't escape from minor internal bruises and sprains. Pushing aside the air bag, Nash steps out of the car.
He slowly limps onto the other side of the car and sits on a small rock.
With some difficulty he pulls out the cellphone from his pocket to make an emergency call.
"Great, No Reception" He sighs.

The time runs for a couple of minutes without any signs of movement on the highway except for Nash.
He kicks the dust for the nth time in anguish.
As Nash walks one more time across the highway, he notices some movement at the far end where the sky and earth meets. Two minutes later, a red pickup truck stopped at the wrecked beamer.

Nash walks up to the truck as the truck driver(TD) lowers the window.
He explains his situation and asks for lift to the nearest place.
The Truck Driver(TD) without saying a word nods in agreement and unlocks the door.
For a second Nash thinks about the TD as kind of creepy, but ignores it and steps into the truck.

As the truck races towards the nearest town, Nash tried to strike a conversation with the TD.
"Hey this is Nash, thanks a lot for helping me out."
Nash waited for TD's reply but all he could get is a little nod from TD.

Nash tried few more times and then said "I am sorry, are you dumb?"
This time TD didn't replied with his usual NOD.

Nash Continues "Dude, I am trying to make a conversation here, I know you can talk, let's talk something."
No Response from the TD.

Silence dominated them for sometime. Nash interrupted it by saying "Sh*t, I forgot my cellphone there."
"Dude, do you have a cellphone, I need to make a call"
As Nash continued talking, The truck takes a diversion from highway to the right side.
Soon the road became unpaved and tall trees appeared on both sides.

Nash looked surprised at the surroundings and questioned "Where does this road take me to?"
The TD spoke for the first time since Nash got into the truck.
Nash was stunned listening to such a response.

The TD said "HELL."

Jason was getting impatient waiting in that red pickup truck from the past 15 minutes.
He started observing the truck. He noticed a large rope and a sledge hammer in the back.
He thought "why would a person keep a rope and a hammer in his truck?"
Jason found a newspaper too in the truck which happened to be that day's newspaper.
Jason then decided to get off the truck and turned his head towards the window.
He was almost scared to death to see someone standing there. It's the truck driver who gave him the lift.

The TD had stopped the truck at a gas station 15 min ago and went in.
Jason thought that TD was the only customer to that gas station by seeing the lonely building on that highway.
Jason started talking with the TD as he got in the truck, but the TD hasn't spoken a single word yet.
Jason "Look Man, I am very sorry that you couldn't speak, but atleast you could say something through signs."
As they started to move on the highway, Jason started reading the newspaper he found in the truck.

As Jason turned to the 3rd page, a news item caught his attention.
It says "Missing adults reported:
Robert, a 37 year old male and Nash, a 29 year old male were reported missing in two different incidents.
One thing common to these two reports was, they both were heading to xx place from yy place. Police are investing these cases."

Jason turned towards the TD and said "How come a 37 year old and 29 year old are missing?"
"dude, its common sense that they are either murdered or committed suicide or died accidently"
"In any case they are dead unless they are running away and hiding from someone."

The TD said nothing.

Jason turned to the last page and saw another news item there.
"Serial killer on the run:
A pyschopath who killed 12 people so far, escaped from prison last night. Police released a photograph of the killer and asked for the public co-operation to find him as soon as possible."

Jason looked at the photograph and smiled. It is his photograph.

Only one survives as they move forward. Time will decide.

Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi

Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, the legendary exponent of Hindustani classical music, was tonight chosen for the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award. The honour for the 86-year-old vocalist, who belongs to 'kirna' gharana, caps a distinguished career spanning more than seven decades since he first performed at the age of 19.This was after a gap of seven years that the government selected a performing artist for the highest award, the last previous recipient being shenai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan.

In fact, the last time a person was chosen for the honour was Khan."The President has been pleased to award the Bharat Ratna to Pandit Bhimsen Joshi", a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said late this evening.Born in Gadag district of Karnataka on February 19, 1922, Joshi has already bagged several prestigious honours including Padma Vibhusan in 1991, Padma Bhusan in 1985 and Padma Shri in 1972.

Whatz in a Name? Everyone's got one. Is it that hard to remember a name?

In this digital world, everyone gets a chance to meet innumerable number of people be at School,Work, Internet or anywhere else. How hard is it to remember all the names of the people? In the first place why do I need to remember the names of every Tom, Dick and Harry I met might be a good question. But what if you like to and cannot? What do you do to recollect the forgotten name of a friend you met after many years?

Most of the people might have faced the situation I am going to tell. Forgetting the Name of a person whom you might have studied with, a long time ago and accidently meeting him after many years. Here is one such incident my roommate's friend faced infront of me in a temple recently.

After 5 days of mechanical life on weekdays, I find it very hard to do anything on friday evening. The mere fact that I have couple of non working days ahead make me think 'n' number of things but end up in sleep on friday evening. That makes me stay longer on that night and wake up late on saturday morning. Itz the same on that weekend too. But the only difference is I got a call early in the morning. It was my roomie and he called from his friend's place.

Roomie: "Where are you?"
Me: "Thatz my question. I am in the room, sleeping"
Roomie: "I am at my friend's place"
Me: "Ok......"
Roomie: "Wake up, We are going to temple."
Me: "We!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Rommie: "Ya, I will pick you in half an hour." Hangs up the phone without listening to what I say. Huh!.

Anyway got up and went to temple. Its a bright sunny day and the weather looks perfect. The temple surroundings are beautiful. As we entered the temple, we saw a guy holding a camera in his hands and staring at us. I thought he might be looking for someone to take a snap of his family. We walked past him and he didn't say a word. We circled around the temple and he is still there staring at us. I asked my roomie and his friend if they knew him.

My Roomie friend recognized him and said "I knew this guy, He was my college senior. God! whatz his name?"
Roomie Friend (RF): "Hey Guys I will introduce you to him, that way he will tell his name to you."
Me,Roomie: "Sounds like a plan"

The Guy comes upto us with his wife and son.

Guy to RF: "Did you recognize me?"
RF: "Oya, Its been a long time. By the way here is my Friend X and his Roomie Y"
Guy: "Nice to meet you, Here is my wife A and my Son B"
RF (inside his mind) : "Damn, he didn't say his name, let me try someother way"

Guy: "So How are you? How is life?"
RF: "Everythingz Fine."

They talked for sometime and then

RF: "Can I get your email id? So that we can stay in touch?" thinking he will know his name from the email id.
Guy: xyz @ mailsite .com
RF (inside his mind): "Damn it doesn't have his name?"

RF: "Ok then we will leave now, Do you have a visiting card? Here is mine." thinking that he will get the name from that atleast.
Guy: "I don't have any cards with me right now. We are leaving too. Meet you some time later."

Guy leaves the scene. While coming back

RF to us: "I tried a lot to get his name. I can't recollect his name."

After couple of months I met RF again and while talking, I asked if he remembered his name. He said "Nope, I gave him an email and didn't get any response too. Letz see when we meet again. I am going to ask him directly this time. Can't bear the anxeity."

That's the open ended story. I can't end this as it is a real incident. Thought of sharing it with others on the blog while thinking what else can I do other than asking the person directly for his name.
