Habits that Make You a More Positive Person

We keep hearing about the need to become more positive in life.

Tabloid articles and TV programs continuously emphasize upon adopting a more positive mindset. However, most of these mediums seem to preach more and explain little. Here, we are trying to talk about a more practical approach to becoming a better, more positive person. The best way to do this is to inculcate habits that help to develop a positive mindset. Some recommendations for you include:

Stop Being Judgmental About Others

One of the most vital steps towards remaining happier throughout the day and reducing negativity around you is being less judgmental. We often tend to develop a negative opinion about the people around us. Though we hardly express it, we nurture that negativity inside us. A better approach is to believe in the dictum of everyone being responsible for their own actions. Leave their actions and the consequences of the same to destiny. Don’t bother about others and don’t let their presence irritate you.

Always Pamper Yourself, if Possible do it Everyday

The idea of working like a horse throughout the week and binging on the good stuff on weekends doesn’t make a lot of sense if you are prone to harboring a lot of negativity throughout the week. A better approach would be to pamper and reward yourself for the smallest of achievements, on a daily basis. If you have been able to cut down on your sugar intake for the past three days, give yourself a pat on the back and treat yourself with a cookie. If you have been true to your control-smoking plan, gift yourself a new case for your mobile phone.

Exercise Hard & Exercise Daily

One of these easiest, most effective ways of sustaining your positive aura is to exercise hard. Some folks recommend walking or stretching as good exercises. Though there is nothing wrong with this approach, it would be better if you could exercise harder and work-up some real sweat. Strenuous exercising stimulates your body to release more endorphins. These hormones help to neutralize the action of anxiety and stress-related hormones, helping to keep you in a better frame of mind.

Embrace Change as Progression

Most people find it difficult to change their habits, routines or their way of thinking. Human beings have an inherent fear towards things that are different from the usual. This refers to everything from buying your shirt in a shade that you have never worn before or going out of your way to be pleasant to somebody. You can be a more positive person if you accept that for the better or worse, changes are always going to come your way. Thus, you might as well accept them. Once you develop a higher degree of tolerance for changes, most unpleasant moments in life would sting a lot less.

Meditate When Stressed & When Happy

It has been observed that people are prone to using meditation as a short-term means to relieve stress. Such folks are prone to becoming irregular with meditation or foregoing it when they feel better. A smarter approach to becoming a more positive person is look upon meditation as an essential part of your day. Equate it with the need to bathe daily. This will ensure that you are always able to keep the stress away and sustain the feeling of goodness within you.

Dreams; all of us have our own dreams. Not the dream that we have when we our asleep. But it is the idea we had on our mind that we wanted to happen. Ideas that we always wanted to happen someday. Each of us has our own personal dream. But having a personal dream doesn’t mean that we are the only one who will be enjoying it if it happens. Sometimes we dream not just for our selves, but also for our loved ones.

Everything we had right now comes from somebody else dreams. Maybe someone from the past dreamed about having a light in the dark, and then the bulb was invented.

Dreams are the ideas we had that help us to reach for something we don’t have at the time we are dreaming. Dreams help us to gain what is missing on our lives. Every successful human had a dream before they became successful.

This dreams of us changes as time goes by because we encounter different things that affect our lives. We may also get affected by the persons we meet or by the environment or community on where we belong. Sometimes what you dream right now doesn’t mean that it is still what you dream for tomorrow. But every individual has a dream, an ultimate dream that doesn’t change whatever happens. An ultimate dream doesn’t change whatever happens, whoever we meet and wherever we go. It is still the dream that we are chasing. Ultimate dreams are the dreams that we had from our younger years. We may dream of it by the time that we are not that matured yet. That is why sometimes we get confused, because when we get matured we ask our selves; Is it still our dream?

By the time we ask our selves that question, you may not realize it, but the answer is just there on the bottom of your heart. It was just covered by the pile of things that we encounter along the way. So maybe you will realize that you are still young. That you are still not that matured to decide or to handle this things. But one day, when you grow much older you will realize that the answer to your question was just right there in your heart. That your ultimate dream still doesn’t change.

But not all of us enjoyed the fruit of their dreams. Or not all of us are living the dream life as they say. Sometimes what happens is that we live in a life that is greater than we expect. We live in a life that is more than of what we dream of.

But of course, before reaching the “cloud 9” we first need to pay the price. We have to work hard for our dream. We have to fight for it.

Life is like a puzzle. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out the things that you’re dealing with. Most of the time you get confused if the moves that you’re doing is right or wrong. But life is about taking Risks. They say that the greatest risk in life is when you don’t take a risk at all. And yes I believe on that saying, because if you don’t take a risk at all you wouldn’t grow as a person. My father used to tell me that the troubles that we encounter in life are the one that molds as a person. These troubles are the ones that make us stronger if we survived it. As they say,”what won’t kill you will make you stronger. If you don’t undergo this troubles and failures you wouldn’t learn anything in life. You can’t learn everything from the book. They say that the best teacher in life is experience, and yes I can that it is true. In life you couldn’t win every time, sometimes you need to make those mistakes and failures for you to be a better person. But in our society, we have tended to look on the person from the mistakes that they have done in life rather than the things that they have learned from their mistakes. Giving a person a chance to prove that he has changed and learned his lessons is not bad at all; especially if we really know this person from a long time. Giving them a chance will help them to stand up from the mistakes that they have done. Most of us learned from the mistakes we have made but only few get a chance to prove that they have changed.

Chris Lao want to inform you...about auto insurance

Flood victim Christopher Lao, whose hapless outburst on GMA News programs last August launched an online wave of taunts and satire by social media users, stars in his own commercial which was released on YouTube on Thursday.

Lao plays himself repeating the same words, including the now-famous quote, "I should have been informed," that he uttered to GMA reporter Jun Veneracion, who is played by an actor in the commercial for BPI.

"This is my way of saying yes to life," Lao told GMA News. "Some good finally came out of this crisis. It became an opportunity. I can now pay for the tuition of my daughter."

Lao is currently studying for the bar exams next month, but took time off to shoot the commercial last weekend.

The commercial ends with the graphic, "Nature doesn't inform you." BPI used Lao to pitch its auto loans that come with one year free insurance covering acts of nature. In addition to BPI's YouTube channel, the ad is expected to air in cinemas.

Lao said that the advertising agency McCann Erickson had first approached him in September to sound him out about the ad. He admitted to being uneasy about the idea, but had what he called an epiphany, that "I won't think of what other people say anymore."

The production team that made the commercial showed him video of the news report so he could replicate the emotion of his reaction to the incident. "I was okay na at the time," he said.

According to Lao, he had gone through a depression after a version of the news report, shortened by a viewer to include just him, was uploaded on YouTube and shared widely, triggering ridicule on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The original news story featured other victims of Typhoon Kabayan. Lao had driven his car into a flooded street in Quezon City where it began to drift as a GMA News camera crew was shooting in the vicinity.

The Twitterworld was buzzing with mostly positive chatter about the ad, including at least one tweep confessing to having a crush on the buff Lao.

Song revival

Songs came from poem, but do you wonder how can a writer wrote all this ideas. Probably the idea didn't come from his mind, but from his heart. That's why many songs are revived today with there new arrangements or versions. Our taste in music change as time goes by but the message of the songs that we want to hear doesn't change. We all have experienced extreme emotions only with different settings or situations. Some of us got broke, some got to an accident and some got a broken heart. All this situations give us extreme emotions. But of course extreme emotions are not all negative feelings, there is also the positive one. If you had met the one, or you just passed your Bar or Board exam, or if you are just simply satisfied with what you have right now.

But if you can notice most of the songs that have been revived or had a different versions mostly are about negative feelings. It's maybe because most writers becomes more creative when they feel extreme negative emotions, especially when they have a broken heart.

Shooting Stars

I remember a line from the song of a famous rapper that says you only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow, cause this opportunity comes once in a lifetime. Well I guess his right, everyone of us gets only one chance to shoot for that opportunity of a lifetime. Some of us was able to shoot for that opportunity but only few of them are able to hit the target. And some of us had the opportunity to shoot for that special opportunity to turn their lives around but they are too dumb or to lazy to take the shot. In short very few of us was able to hit the target and turn their lives around. Very few of us take the risk, and their are less people who succeed by taking the risk.

But what if you've been waiting for this opportunity all your life and it still doesn't come to you. Would you get out of your comfort zone and try to search for it? Or you'll just be patiently wait for it?

Some succeed by just waiting for it, while others succeed by getting out of their comfort zones. But the sad part of the story is that many people fail to turn their lives around. Some failed because they just wait for it and do nothing. But what's disappointing is that some of us tried everything to turn their lives around but ended up with nothing. And some didn't just ended up with nothing, they also pay the price of taking the risk. They also lose something they already have because they play the game of life and pay the price for it.

Why I was absent yesterday

Living in a tropical country has its pros and cons. And when typhoon Pedring hit the country yesterday, I felt the consequence of having a tropical weather in your country. Most of the businesses and classes in manila was postponed due to the typhoon that was accompanied by a high tide. The bay walk in manila was one of the most affected area by the typhoon.

Should Filipinos be surprised about this giant crocodile?

Butuan City—After capturing what could be the biggest crocodile caught alive in the world, hunters are already talking of going after an even bigger croc, possibly lurking in the creeks of Agusan del Sur.

The monster, 6.1-meter (20-foot) saltwater crocodile ensnared on Saturday in Bunawan town after a 24-day hunt has already been named “Lolong” by the villagers—and experts say Lolong may not be alone.

Wildlife official Ronnie Sumiller, who has hunted “nuisance crocodiles” for 20 years and led the team behind the weekend capture in Bunawan, said a search was under way for a possibly larger crocodile that he and the villagers have seen roaming in the farming town’s marshy outskirts.

“There is a bigger one and it could be the one creating problems,” Sumiller told The Associated Press by telephone from Bunawan.

The captured crocodile has been named after Ernesto “Lolong” Conate, a Palawan-based hunter hired to help catch it.

But Conate died of a stroke a few days ago while working out the plans for capturing the beast, which was eventually caught by a team of crocodile experts and villagers near Lake Mihaba, one of the several lakes crisscrossing Agusan Marsh, the country’s largest marshland.

Josefina de Leon, wildlife division chief of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, said the beast was likely the biggest crocodile ever captured anywhere in the world.

“Based on existing records the largest that had been captured previously was 5.48 meters (18 feet) long,” she told Agence France-Presse.

The Philippine specimen would easily dwarf the largest captive saltwater crocodile, which the Guinness World Records website lists as Cassius, a 5.48-meter male which lives at an Australian nature park.

Press reports also describe other huge crocs including a 6.2-meter adult male killed in Papua New Guinea in 1982 that was measured after it was skinned.

Crocodile attacks

The hunt was launched after a local fisherman went missing near a marshy creek early last month and after a reported crocodile attack on a carabao.

Villagers also claimed that a crocodile attacked and killed a 12-year-old girl, identified as Rowena Romano, in the same waters on March 7, 2009.

Mundita Lim, director of the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau (PAWB), said the reptile weighed 1,075 kilograms and its body was one meter (3.3 feet) wide.

The PAWB has yet to have an estimate of the animal’s age.

No remains

“The community was relieved,” Sumiller said of the capture, but added: “We’re not really sure if this is the man-eater, because there have been other sightings of other crocodiles in the area.”

The local government of the impoverished town of 37,000 people has decided against putting down the reptile, and will instead build a nature park where it will go on display.

Pork and dog meat

The Bunawan hunting team, employed by a government-run crocodile breeding farm, began laying bait using chicken, pork and dog meat on Aug. 15 in an attempt to snare the beast.

But the reptile simply bit off both the meat and the line it was skewered on.

A heavy metal cable finally proved beyond the power of its jaws, and the beast was subdued in a creek late Saturday with the help of about 30 local men.

Beyond the mark of the hook inside its upper jaw, the crocodile did not appear to have sustained any serious injuries.

Star attraction

Bunawan Mayor Cox Elorde said that Lolong would become the star of the planned ecotourism and conservation park near the Agusan Marsh.

“We will take advantage of this crocodile as a tourism attraction and we hope it will help us generate income and jobs,” Elorde told the Inquirer by phone.

He said the people of Bunawan believed Lolong was not the only large crocodile lurking in the 113,910-hectare Agusan Marsh, which straddles several towns.

But Elorde disagreed with statements by PAWB officials that more searches for crocodiles would be launched. He said there was no more hunt for crocodiles in his town.

50 years old

Lolong, believed by some residents to be 50 years old, is now kept in a huge metal cage.

“We are eyeing a Guinness Record for Lolong,” Elorde said.

Relieved villagers in Bunawan threw a fiesta to celebrate the capture of the crocodile, which had to be pulled by rope by about 100 people from the creek to a clearing, where a crane lifted it onto a truck.

“It was like a feast, so many villagers turned up,” Elorde said.

“The villagers were saying 10 percent of their fear was gone because of the first capture,” Sumiller said. “But there is still the other 90 percent to take care of.”

Philippine laws strictly prohibit civilians from killing endangered crocodiles, with violators facing up to 12 years in prison and a fine of P1 million.

The world’s most endangered freshwater variety, Crocodylus Mindorensis, is found only in the Philippines, where only about 250 are known to be in the wild.

About 1,000 of the larger saltwater type, or Crocodylus Porosus, like the one captured in Bunawan, are scattered mostly in the country’s southern swamplands, wildlife official Glen Rebong said.

Crocodiles have been hunted in the country by poachers hoping to cash in on the high demand in wealthy Asian countries for their skin, which is coveted for vanity products ranging from bags to cell phone cases.
