I was looking for a way to spruce up the dozens of black-white combinations in my wardrobe and neon pink seemed like a charming option. Its not only an uplifting addition but instantly pleasing to the eye too. I threw on a pair of leopard print booties for brownie points on the quirk scale.

We've all had our share of rocking our white shirts a gazillion different ways (almost tapped the technique as well as the back of my hand) but how often is it that we stumble across a pair of crisp Navajo print trousers being conquered by the masses, and that too, with style beyond compare!

The Navajo print fundamentally originates from the Navajo tribe of native america. The tribal pattern was initially spotted creeping up on Proenza Schoulers runway collection but to bring it to us it had to unquestionably be - Zara. I think they're breathtakingly stunning and a statement piece that every wardrobe must have!

Mens Style 101

My guy friends have been asking for a post on Mens fashion since a while and when I stumbled upon these drool-worthy snapshots of stylish men on a streetstyle blog, I took out my notepad and jotted down a few tips that I would like to point out to see more men dressed like the ones in these pictures. Here goes!

Own a pair of white jeans. They are the equivalent of a womans little black dress.
Layering isn't just for the ladies. Fish out your waistcoats, double breasted jackets and vests and layer on! Keep it simple, don't mix patterns and you're good to go.
The world judges you by your shoes so if you're investing in one item, make the shoes good!
Brown belt and black shoes is an absolute no. Always match these two.
Plaid was a trend in 2010. Lets keep up with the calendar and leave the checks where they belong - in the past!
Cardigans portray effortless style.
Dress according to your body shape. If you're heavy on the belly, round neck tee's aren't for you. Instead, opt for collared ones.
Don't be afraid to wear pink. Just the fact that you took the chance by trying it is earning you brownie points.
Wearing a logo on your belt doesn't make you stylish. If you want to flaunt your bank balance, invest in a watch.
When in doubt, wear Ralph Lauren.
Shorts and a shirt make a fantastic combination. (Make sure the shorts aren't plaid and/or nylon)
Nike is for the playground. Keep it there!
Lastly, just as Barney Stinson would say - nothing beats a well fitted suit.

P.S. - Don't be intimidated by the pictures below. That can only be attained with practice. Nevertheless, you have to start somewhere :)

Whether its donning paisley prints with a cardigan, texturing leather with wool or rocking a navajo trouser, these men had me drooling for their style. This is the truest and most explicit form of eye candy! What makes it better? Its a rare sight.

What I'm Wearing - Vivacious in Vogue blazer, H&M white tee, Zara shorts, Dorothy Perkins belt, Topshop necklace, watches borrowed from my cook and Style Fiesta Store clutch.

Winter this year has been exceptionally great and this worked as a perfect excuse to finally exhaust the blazers that I was otherwise inappropriately wearing (considering the sauntering heat).

Black + white + denim has always been a winning combination. Easy, but nevertheless winning. With classic outfits such as these its always a good idea to experiment and go an extra mile with the accessories.

The multiple watch trend that I posted about earlier on the Style Fiesta Facebook page has been on my mind since a while and I couldn't wait to try it. The trick I adopted is to opt for straps and dials of different textures. If one is a metal strap, pick a leather strap for the next and you're good to go!

Coveting the Coveteur

During one of my many endless trips of painlessly stalking the Coveteur, I realized that while I was drooling over the shoe closets and french panes of Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Ciepluch and the likes, I was subconsciously constructing the bare walls of my own office (when I get one, that is).

Inspiration lies in every speck of dust. I positively believe that where we work, influences our efficiency by miles. So while we're busy swooning over the work of our favorite trend-setters, do we stop to wonder what it is that keeps them inspired? The Coveteur gave me a brand new way of inspecting the creative process that my self-proclaimed mentors were undergoing; a tinted view of what went on behind the scenes at my favorite websites/ labels/ fashion houses.

'Its more interesting to have just a picture of a small detail - then you can dream all the rest around it.

Because when you see the whole thing, what is there to imagine?

Inspiration Board - MINT

We're evidently aware of the 'Pastels' storm thats soon going to be hitting us (or has it already?) and my favorite from the lot is inevitably the 'Mint' block. Its begun to dominate the Spring 2012 runways and it wont be too long until it takes over our wardrobes. The fresh spearmint and pistachio hues act as perfect soothing agents, and mostly, if not always, are fantastic substitutes for white.

Cant wait to stock up on these gorgeous tints!

La Plage

This winter was stuffed with plenty of surprise travel plans for me. (And yes, that explains the absence of posts.) This was an impromptu outfit post done in Goa at one of the most stunning beaches there - Ashwem. Far from commercial, the slightest glance could put you at peace. We went with the purpose of a quick meal at La Plage, but the scrumptious french cuisine and hypnotizing atmosphere had us rooted to our seats for a long afternoon.

This outfit defines almost all of my Goa outfits - flowy skirts, tank tops, simple accessories and wind blown hair.

Grazia Debate - Comfort is Fashion?

For the January issue of Grazia I had to give my take on whether fashion was moving into the comfort zone. With creepers and uggs, pajama chic and oversized dresses, whether comfort dressing was the new mantra to being fashionable. I wrote against it.

Here's what I had to say. Would love to hear your take on it as well!

"As much as I'd like to believe comfort and fashion can co-exist, if you ask me to fluff around in pajama pants in the lounge area of a fashion week, its going to be a definite no.
Lets just say creepers give me the creeps and I wouldn't be caught dead in them. Who defines comfort? According to me, being genuinely comfortable is being dressed appropriately for your surroundings; comfort is as much a state of mind as it is a physical requirement.
I follow a very simple rule when it comes to style - If i look good, I feel better. Predictably, sleepers don't seem to have that appreciative aftermath on me. Im an avid believer of confidence dressing - if by wearing my 5-inch Giuseppe Zanotti inspired wedges I'll be able to tackle the world with more certainty, so be it! Its very simple - you've got to have conviction in your style. The twain can meet by taking the classic route instead of rolling straight out of bed.
Wear your most 'comfortable' blue jeans with a white well-fitted shirt (tucked in or not) and pair it with the most 'comfortable' pair of ballet flats you own. Throw on a pastel belt and a stack of assorted bracelets - I guarantee you comfort with easy style. No pajama pants required!"

5 minute style - It's easy, it's stylish and it doesn't require any shopping.

This is a technique I've mastered over time. Rummage through your basics and pick out your most comfortable pieces. I opted for blue jeans + black tank + cardigan + heels. Fitting needs to be impeccable. Determine your favorite statement accessory that you're positive can dominate an attire and voila! - You've got indulgent style in less than 5 minutes.

Each one of you possesses these fragments in your wardrobe so I'm hoping you try this out and let me know how it goes!

Animal Print Jumpsuit

What I'm Wearing - God Made Me Funky jumpsuit, Vivacious in Vogue Blazer, Style Fiesta earrings, Style Fiesta shoes and Ray Ban sunglasses

We all love a perfect balance. Black & white is the safest possible combination on a platter; but then again, an overloaded animal print jumpsuit isn't. Simple - balance the two. Tone down the overtly playfulness of the jumpsuit with a blazer that commands! I squeezed in a few gold accents into the ensemble for a hint of glamour with my accessories and as expected, it did wonders.

Maybe it was the wrong side of the bed (or the right) but I woke up with the sudden urge of wearing something daring today. Why would the thought of wearing white/black with a chaotic color even wander through your mind when you have a gazillion more interesting alternatives? Remember the riot of colors that would flash on out television screens a decade back when a particular channel was unavailable? That was my inspiration.

Over-dozing on prints and a turbulence of colors , these are a few pictures that are provoking me currently.

Drizzled in sparkling hand-stitiched rust and silver sequins this dress is everything you're looking for in the 'perfect' holiday season attire - fitting for December like no other. The tidbits of bronze + silver + gold gives you a sky-rocketing glamour quotient.

The super statement claw cuff I'm wearing was an impulse buy, and if there's one thing I've learnt over the years it's that impulse buys are the Kohinoors of your wardrobe.

All in all - however stereotypical it might be, I'm LOVING sequins! And sometimes its fun playing along with the trends of the crowd :)

Why Women Love Shoes.

I adore the sensation of crossing the threshold from the parking lot, into the sanctuary of a mall and finally on the doorstep of my favorite place in the whole wide world. The shoe shop. Hearing the low hum of voices, appreciative murmurs and wispy contrails of music as I step into the glass doors, admiring the inevitable over-commercialized shoe-glory as I loiter through the concourse and pass window displays decked out in gleaming shoe finery, I think to myself 'There's nowhere else I'd rather be.'

Shoes tend to have that dramatic effect on me, and millions of other women around the globe. They'r collected, savored, pampered, loved and worn with utmost adoration. Buying the perfect shoe or heck, even trying it on, can light up a woman's face. Its an unconditional relationship to say the least- no weight gain, and no mood swing can affect it.

Marilyn Monroe most definitely had her facts right when she said- 'Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.'

Lets take a second to thank Christian Dior for the dynamic birth of the 'Pencil Skirt' in the 1940's. Believe me, once you wear this trend, there is no turning back.

I was recently featured on UTV Bindass in a show called Style Police and this is the outfit I intended to wear for my big moment on TV. Due to an uncertain turn of events, things didn't quite go my way and I had to stick to a Little Black Dress, but ever since then it has unavoidably become the most commanding and magnetic ensemble of my wardrobe.

Pencil skirts inevitably bring with them a sense of power. Try it yourself, and you'll know its true!

Only once in a lifetime does your luck favor you so intricately that a blazer so perfect falls into your hands. The benchmark of a 'good' blazer is unquestionably its fitting; and mine couldn't get an ounce better even if it tried. You all are well versed with my partiality to gold accessories and tints and the buttons in Balmain-style transformed my look from trendy street to red carpet worthy.

Talking of blazers - fellow blogger Simin Lakhani of Vivacious in Vogue has a fantastic collection of coats, winter jackets, free-falling blazers and capes. We scarcely find attractive winter collections in India - and this might just be our savior. Check them out here.

Try this.

Keep your base an empty canvas. Preferably a white, black or grey, and accessorize with different hues of the same color family.

Lace has been reigning the trend radar for sequential seasons and this enabled my Little Lace Dress to dodge the 'too simple/plain' bracket. There was an undoubtable hesitation when I paired bright red beads with a slightly darker, more maroon-ish hued belt, but on completion - I loved how unpredictable the palette was.

This top was a fantastic purchase for the Diwali season. On days that I didn't feel like wearing heavy, traditional pieces, it allowed me to work a contemporary repertoire, and yet be well in touch with my roots.

What I'm wearing above is a very flexible outfit. To steer deeper into the traditional radius pair this top with a churidaar instead of skinny jeans and throw on an abstract dupatta.
