Hydrogen is colorless, odorless and tasteless. Each hydrogen molecule has two atoms of hydrogen, which accounts for the H 2 we often see. Hydrogen is the lightest element, with a density of 0.08988 grams per liter at standard pressure, yet it has the highest energy content per unit weight of all the fuels (hidrogen fuel) – 52,000 Btu/lb, or three times the energy of a pound of gasoline.

Hydrogen is never found alone on earth — it is always combined with other elements such as oxygen and carbon. Hydrogen can be extracted from virtually any hydrogen compound and is the ultimate clean energy carrier. It is safe to manufacture. And hydrogen's chemical (hidrogen fuel) energy can be harnessed in pollution-free ways.

Hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) generated from diverse domestic resources can reduce demand for oil by more than 11 million barrels per day by the year 2040.

A good source of information on hydrogen is the U.S. Department of Energy's H2IQ web page, as well as the overview book, Hydrogen & Our Energy Future, which expands on DOE's series of one-page fact sheets to provide an in-depth look at hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) and fuel cell technologies. This overview book provides additional information on the science behind the technology — how it works, benefits over conventional technology, its status, and challenges — and explains how hydrogen and fuel cells (hidrogen fuel) fit into our energy portfolio.

Together with partners, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) developed a National Hydrogen Energy Road Map to provide a framework to make the hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) economy a reality. This Road Map outlines the challenges ahead to developing a hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) economy - including the necessary elements of a hydrogen infrastructure for not only on transportation uses but also distributed generation, since development of a hydrogen infrastructure would benefit both applications.

The National Hydrogen Energy Road Map and other pertinent documents are available on the DOE's Hydrogen, Fuel Cells, & Infrastructure Technologies Program website.

Hidrogen Fuel

original source: http://www.fuelcells.org/hydrogen/basics.html

DIY Hydrogen Fuel Cell - Hydrogen Fuel Cells That You Can Build Yourself (Hidrogen Fuel - DIY)

Hidrogen Fuel

You probably heard from someone about how he made his own DIY hydrogen fuel (Hidrogen Fuel) cell. Or perhaps when you read categories about cars or automotive, you come across topics about making your own HHO generator to make cars run on water. Just what is DIY hydrogen fuel (Hidrogen Fuel) cell anyway and how is it important in today's cars?

Why Water Powered Cars Are In Demand

Water powered cars are very much popular nowadays because fuel prices are getting higher and higher each year. Car owners are now being encouraged to supplement their existing fuel (Hidrogen Fuel) with water to minimize environmental issues. But most importantly, people use HHO generator on their car to lower their gas mileage.

The generator can truly be made right at home, even if the car owner has no background on automotive or mechanical engineering. This is because there are many DIY hydrogen fuel (Hidrogen Fuel) cell guides available nowadays. These guides can be downloaded for free off the Internet or it can be bought from bookstores and other professional sources. With simple instructions, technical diagrams, and components, people can already build a hydrogen fuel (Hidrogen Fuel) and run a car on water.

How Hydrogen Fuel Cells Work

Actually, the HHO generator breaks down the molecules of the water into the separate components of oxygen and hydrogen. Technically, you can't actually purely generate hydrogen (Hidrogen Fuel) out of water. Extracting pure hydrogen from water is not only difficult but dangerous as well. However, what we do to make cars run on water is to generate HHO gas or what is known as Brown's gas. This is used to fuel the automobile when HHO (Hidrogen Fuel) gas or Brown's gas combines with the gasoline fuel of the car. The generation of Brown's gas from water is the easy part and is the center of DIY hydrogen fuel cell plans.

Since it is easy to make an HHO generator, people can readily make this right from their home. They can get guides for free in the Internet or they can buy guides. No matter where they get the guides, they can truly make DIY hydrogen (Hidrogen Fuel) generators anytime.

Most people are already making HHO (Hidrogen Fuel) generator for their car. This is because Brown's gas increases gas mileage. Other notable benefit when cars run on water is the quiet and smooth running engine condition. At the end, the cars will have increased engine life. As for the environment, it is obvious that there is lesser air pollution from water powered cars.

Read this full guide that teaches you step by step on <a target="_new"
When properly stored, hydrogen as a fuel burns in either a gaseous or liquid state. Motor vehicles and furnaces can be converted to use hydrogen as a fuel (hidrogen fuel). Hydrogen has actually been used in the transportation, industrial, and residential sectors in the United States for many years. Many people in the late 19th century burned a fuel called "town gas," which is a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Several countries, including Brazil and Germany, still distribute this fuel. Hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) was used in early "hot-air" balloons, and later in airships (dirigibles) during the early 1900's. Gaseous hydrogen was used in 1820 as fuel for one of the earliest internal combustion engines. The U.S. Air Force had a secret, multi-million dollar program during the 1950's, code-named "Suntan," to develop hydrogen as a fuel for airplanes. Currently, industries use large quantities of hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) for refining petroleum, and for producing ammonia and methanol. The Space Shuttle uses hydrogen as fuel for its rockets. Automobile manufacturers have developed hydrogen-powered cars.

Burning hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) creates less air pollution than gasoline or diesel. Hydrogen also has a higher flame speed, wider flammability limits, higher detonation temperature, burns hotter, and takes less energy to ignite than gasoline. This means that hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) burns faster, but carries the danger of pre-ignition and flashback. While hydrogen has its advantages as a vehicle fuel it still has a long way to go before it can be used as a substitute for gasoline. This is mainly due to the investment required to develop a hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) production and distribution infrastructure.

However, things are getting started in this regard. Vehicle manufacturers Honda and BMW have set up hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) fueling stations as part of their efforts to develop fuel cell powered cars. At Honda's research and development center in Torrance, California, a PV array electrolyses hydrogen from water. The array generates enough hydrogen to power one fuel-cell vehicle. Additional power from the power grid is used to increase the hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) production capacity. The new station is supporting Honda's fuel cell vehicle development program for hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) production, storage, and fueling. Honda and a fuel cell developer are also working together on a "home" hydrogen refueling system for fuel cell vehicles. BMW opened a hydrogen fueling station at the company's engineering and emissions control test center in Oxnard, California. BMW is taking a different approach than most car companies, burning hydrogen directly in advanced internal-combustion engines, and is testing these vehicles at the Oxnard facility.

The California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP) is also building a hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) infrastructure. The CaFCP commissioned its first "satellite" hydrogen fueling system in late October 2002, in Richmond, California, about 70 miles from the CaFCP headquarters and a primary refueling facility in West Sacramento. This extends the range over which the CaFCP's prototype fuel cell vehicles can be driven. The fueling system uses electrolysis to generate hydrogen from water and includes a storage unit capable of holding 104 pounds (47 kilograms) of hydrogen(hidrogen fuel). It is capable of fueling a small fleet of vehicles and requires only one or two minutes per refueling.

In November 2002, the world's first hydrogen energy station that can provide fuel for vehicles and also produce electricity opened in Las Vegas Nevada. The station is located in the city's vehicle maintenance and operation service center. It combines an on-site hydrogen generator, compressor, liquid and gaseous hydrogen storage tanks, dispensing systems, and a stationary fuel cell. It is capable of dispensing hydrogen (hidrogen fuel), hydrogen-enriched natural gas, and compressed natural gas. DOE is also working with the city to convert municipal vehicles to operate on hydrogen.

Fuel cells are a type of technology that use hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) to produce useful energy. In fuel cells, electrolysis is reversed by combining hydrogen and oxygen through an electrochemical process, which produces electricity, heat, and water. The U.S. space program has used fuel cells to power spacecraft for decades. Fuel cells capable of powering automobiles and buses have been and are being developed. Several companies are developing fuel cells for stationary power generation. Most major automobile manufacturers are developing fuel cell powered automobiles.

Hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) could be considered a way to store energy produced from renewable resources such as solar, wind, biomass, hydro, and geothermal. For example, when the sun is shining, solar photovoltaic systems can provide the electricity needed to separate the hydrogen (as described above regarding Humboldt State University's Research Center). The hydrogen (hidrogen fuel) could then be stored and burned as fuel, or to operate a fuel cell to generate electricity at night or during cloudy periods.
Source: http://www.hydrogenfuel.net/

Hidrogen Fuel
<div id="seolinx-tooltip" (hidrogen fuel)

Hidrogen Fuel

Did you know that hydrogen fuel cars are already on the streets of many first world countries? General Motors and Ford already launched hydrogen fuel cars and currently, BMW has created a series of the same type of vehicle. General Motors already have thirteen hydrogen fuel cars roaming the streets of Washington, including 6 minivans.

Ford is still in the process of manufacturing 'Focus'. Other car manufacturers namely Honda, Toyota, DaimlerChrysler, and Nissan already have vehicles in the Army and even with the public.

With the launching of hydrogen fuel cars, many car owners no longer have to worry about gas mileage. If you want to save money now, yet you can't afford the hydrogen fuel cars, have your existing car converted. Of course, it can cost a little but the benefits are priceless.

By 2010, General Motors will launch alternative hydrogen fuel cars. Although the cars use alternative hydrogen fuel, the price is just like that of internal combustion vehicles. GM and Shell are now partners; the latter has created stations for hydrogen fuel to meet the demand for the alternative fuel. The two giant companies projected that for every 200,000 hydrogen fuel cars, 300 stations are needed.

If you walk the streets of Europe, you will hardly notice that there are some hydrogen fuel buses roaming their streets. DaimlerChrysler introduced the said buses in 2004. You can find the buses in Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, Hamburg, Madrid, Luxemburg, Reykjavik, Porto, Stuttgart, and Stockholm. The buses function well regardless of the weather.

In fact, the buses provide excellent transportation during hot summers and cold winters; as well as in the hilly regions and flatlands. You can find hydrogen stations in the 7 major cities of Europe and each station is equipped with the necessary equipments like the electrolysis tools. Water is used to create the fuel for the stations.

An ethanol fuel car can also use hydrogen fuel cells. Ethanol has water and this is where the hydrogen is derived. If you use this alternative, you can improve gas mileage and at the same time supply the cells with the needed hydrogen. This type of vehicle is called water power car or hybrid car and it can run using ethanol or hydrogen.

If you want a clean and abundant energy source, choose hydrogen fuel cars. As long as you have a water source, you can use it to power your hydrogen car. At present, the fuel cells are quite large but developers are now trying to make it more efficient and more reliable. Just imagine the very first computers which were large but after several years, small versions were soon invented and launched. It will not be shocking if hydrogen fuel technology will rapidly develop.

One thing's for sure, hydrogen fuel cars do exist. Some people are still unaware of this fact but in the coming years, these cars will dominate the streets. Here's good news to everyone, if you want to address the global warming problem, have your cars converted if it is feasible.

Check your locality if you can find a hydrogen station. This is a very important decision that you have to make, so be sure that you will have no regrets. So far, users of hydrogen fuel cars do not have any regrets and with the advanced technology of today, improvements are on their way. So look out for the cars of the future.

About the Author: Gargi Nath,a Professor in English in a reputed college in kolkata for the last 5 years having done masters and Phd.A keen creative author and have written many articles on numerous topics. Many of the articles are published regularly in newspapers and magazines. Please visit my blog http://fuel-as-hydrogen.blogspot.com for more information on hydrogen fuel cars.

Hidrogen Fuel
<a href="http://socialposter.com/generator.php?tip=links&c=all&url=http://hidrogen-fuel.blogspot.com/&title=hidrogen%20fuel&text=" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5245523797764502322" />
Recently, most of the car manufacturers and their engineers work out with alternative fuel (hidrogen fuel?) sources to gain consumers needs based on the rising of the oil prices.

A lot of alternatives sources for automobiles are being created such as hidrogen fuel cars, electric cars and solar cars. By now there is no one can reach the public's eye which can utilized their money and useful enough to be their transport.
Hybrid recently becomes popular but it still not enough to fulfill consumer need where they still need to have full tank of gas! and its prices too much higher rather than ordinary cars. Solar cars still being tested by the engineers and it seems hard to be produce due to its highly costs.

Based on many information nowadays, hidrogen fuel had been discovered tremendously which some of it can run completely using the hidrogen fuel. Some engineers found that by adding hidrogen gives a extra power, uses less fuel and gives out only oxygen and some wastes. It is good news if that car can run almost purely by using water!!!

How Hydrogen Fuel Cells Work

Like batteries, fuel cells use chemical processes without combustion to create energy with a clean by-product. Because they do not work with the process of combustion, fuel cells never have partly used components, and therefore do not produce poisonous by-products (combustion engines produce carbon monoxide and a wide variety of other poisons, in contrast.)

Understanding Hydrogen As an Alternative Fuel Option (hidrogen fuel)

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKGXiTIS4bvKmrHBet53Y7XcJEIS-Sv8YMxCY-fp8Yxg2PUpO9l74HdRABWq6UstraHzrs5q2s-Hu6guSC-mIabqHkgubogZqNBmbWDThhIb4KzWxFOHnd7iRgtRxNShcxPv3_j-jN2kKI/s400/altfuel4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5235533016208778258" />
Like electricity, hydrogen is also an energy carrier which is produced from another substance. Hydrogen can be produced from a variety of resources like water, fossil fuels and biomass. Unlike electricity, this can be stored in large quantity for future uses. Sun, with its radiant energy gives us light and makes plants to grow, is a giant ball of hydrogen and helium gases. As we know, hydrogen is lighter than air, so it will rise in the air. For this reason, it is very difficult to find it on earth. So it can be found only in compound form with other elements.

The most common methods of separating hydrogen from water, biomass or natural gas molecules are Steam Reforming and Electrolysis. The US is the largest producer of hydrogen in the world. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is the prime user of hydrogen as an energy fuel. Lots of Vehicles like buses, cars, trains, bicycles, cargo bikes, golf carts, motorcycles, wheelchairs, ships, airplanes, submarines, high-speed cars and rockets are all moving with hydrogen.

Many companies are currently researching the viability of developing hydrogen used vehicles. Recent studies have proved that the use of hydrogen in vehicles will increase its life as well as its speed. The use of hydrogen fuel used in vehicles can attain large and sustained reductions in oil consumption. A prospective advantage of hydrogen is that it could be produced and consumed continuously, using solar, water, wind and nuclear power .

One of the main disadvantages of hydrogen is that during the process of separating from water or any other element, it releases carbon monoxide which is the harmful to the environment. Because it is difficult to produce, handle and store hydrogen, it is very expensive. Lack of sufficient refueling stations are the main concern for hydrogen users. Green house emission is the other disadvantage of hydrogen. However, hydrogen is expected to be one of the useful alternative fuel to avoid our over dependency on the petroleum products.

Get a better understanding of the your options when it comes to alternative fuels including methanol, ethanol, natural gas, hydrogen and others. The hydrogen fuel technology is based on simple chemical reaction between Oxygen and Hydrogen, the reaction generates energy. The resultant energy can be used as power a Car producing only water, not fumes.

The California state (America) was first to use hydrogen powered cars, currently few hundred automobiles are running in California. The cars have special storage to store Hydrogen in form of gas or liquid and process converts the hydrogen into electricity for the engine using a fuel cell. This project is still in early stage, with more research the technology will become more robust and commercially viable.

Advantages of Hydrogen Fuel

The most important advantage of using hydrogen fuel is that the emission it outputs is water only.
Unlike other popular fuels used for energy consumption produce carbon dioxide (CO2).
With little tail pipe pollution, Hydrogen fuel is less pollutant as compared to other fuels.
Research shows when Hydrogen is used with fuel cell engine over internal combustion engine, it increases efficiency of car.

Disadvantages of Hydrogen Fuel

The cost to run a hydrogen fuel based car is high. Because it takes large amount of energy to liquefy the fuel.
There is a need for compressed Hydrogen gas, which will allow car to run for longer time. Currently research is in underway to make it commercially viable.
Once technology is perfected and means to get fuel are economical and commercially viable, then Hydrogen fuel may strike cord with people and car manufactures.

I believe in near future we will see more dependence upon alternate fuel source and one of them will be Hydrogen fuel. The governments and private industries are pumping lot of money in research to get clean, safe and environment friendly "Hydrogen fuel technology".

Already car manufactures have started building pilot projects to get car out using Hydrogen fuel. Honda has set its goal for 2008, where as GM and Merceds has set deadline around 2010. More depends upon performance of initial cars, if technology is easy to use and cost per car is within the budget of people, then Hydrogen fuel may become one of the alternate fuels.

Read more on Hydrogen as Alternate Fuel ...... The simple answer to that question is yes. However, there are some technical challenges to run a car purely on hydrogen gas (H2). The main issue is storage. To store sufficient amount of H2 to power a vehicle, it has to be compressed into a cylinder tank under high pressure. This will create a problem if there is a leakage and dangerous to the driver because H2 is highly flammable. Another way to use hydrogen on car is to implement the "on demand" system. What is the science behind the concept? This article will provide some useful information on the topic.

It is a fact that you can save fuel by converting your car to run on hydrogen gas. To solve the gas storage issue, a car can be installed with an electrolysis device. The device is basically used to extract H2 from water. This is possible because water is made of 2 molecules of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. For electrolysis to work, it has to be connected to the car battery. The whole circuit can be connected to a liner switch.

When the switched is turn on, hydrogen gas is generated and vented into the engine air intake system. From there is it sucked into the combustion chambers and mixed with gasoline. Due to the potent properties of H2, the gas mixture will burn more efficiently and produce more power. By supplementing hydrogen gas into the engine, it has the potential to improve the vehicle mileage thus saving cost.

The hydrogen "on demand" system works manually. When a car is moving, the driver turns on the switch to save fuel. When the car is idle, the electrolysis system is turned off to stop the production of hydrogen gas. With this simple setup, drivers around the work has the opportunity to convert their cars to run on hydrogen.

Are you spending more and more money on fuel for your car? The high price of gas has the average person thinking outside the box when it comes to their daily transportation. A year ago, if you had told your friends or neighbors that gas prices would approach $5.00 a gallon they would have laugh at you. Well, we're knocking at the door and, from the look of things, its about to be knocked off the hinges. (So hidrogen fuel will becomes your alternative to solve your fuel comsuption effectively)

Thankfully there is a solution to this problem (using hirogen fuel) that is more realistic than you might think. You can do what thousands of people across the world are doing - convert your vehicle to burn water and gasoline! (is it hidrogen fuel?) SAY WHAT?

Most people have no idea that there is a simple, safe and relatively inexpensive system that will help you to keep your hard earned dollars in your pocket and out of the coffers of the greedy cartels and oil companies. Instead of burning old fashion and inefficient gasoline in your vehicle, try burning hydrogen or HHO along with it(is it hidrogen fuel?). Not only will you realize better gas mileage, your vehicle will receive a boost in horsepower and will not pollute the environment.

HHO, also known as Brown's Gas, OxyHydrogen, Aquygen, and Klein's Gas, is quickly gaining popularity as an alternative automobile fuel(is it hidrogen fuel?). It is a water fuel technology that was invented by Nikola Tesla and has been around for over 80 years. The technology has been suppressed and kept out of the public arena for obvious reasons. (is it hidrogen fuel?)Wonder why?

For a $150.00 or less, you can convert your vehicle to run on water and gasoline; by using electricity from your car's battery to energized water(is it hidrogen fuel?). This splits hydrogen and oxygen molecules and creates a high efficient gas called hydrogen or HHO. This hydrogen is produced on an as needed basis; because it is three times more efficient than gasoline you will realize a significant increase in your gas mileage - 50% or more(is it hidrogen fuel?).

Your engine will perform better by running smoother and quieter and will also last longer. In addition, you will immediately possess an alternative fuel automobile (is it hidrogen fuel?) that is environmentally friendly because of a reduction in harmful emissions and carbon deposits.

What makes this water fuel system immensely popular is that you don't have to be a master mechanic to install it; a modification to your car engine is not required, and it will not affect your vehicle's warranty. If you do not like the system it can be easily reversed within 30 minutes(is it hidrogen fuel?).

Gas prices are skyrocketing with no end in sight, by acting now you can join the thousands of people who are experiencing amazing results from this alternative automobile fuel system. It is safe, affordable and will save you hundreds of dollars a month on your fuel expense(is it hidrogen fuel?).

Want to learn how to increase mileage (using hidrogen fuel), make your own HHO fuel cell and save tons of money? This is not a area specific phenomenon, instead it is a much bigger and wide spread spectrum. Herein, one needs to understand why do we need alternative fuels globally.

Our present fuel resources are not going to be around forever and with the ever increasing consumption their extinction is nearly unavoidable. Also our fuel resources which are mostly made up of fossil fuels are not renewable in nature.

Currently around the world the consumption of fossil fuels is 100,000 times faster than their natural production. According to an estimate the demand for these fuels will suddenly outstrip their availability in a matter of centuries-or less.

Another fact which should also be paid attention to here is that the consumption of fossil fuels is eating up our environment very fast.

No matter how safely the fossil fuels are used, they continue to take a toll on the atmosphere. This is because on combustion these types of fuels release various pollutants. These pollutants include dangerous gases like sulfur dioxide that causes acid rain.

Also the combustion of fossil fuels emit carbon dioxide. This harmful gas when released into the atmosphere makes a huge contribution to the greenhouse effect. This effect prompts the atmosphere to capture and reflect back the energy that radiate from the surface of the earth, instead of letting them to escape back into space. This causes global warming that melts the polar ice caps and affects weather all around the world. If not controlled it can also cause the extinction of mankind!

The rampant warnings of global warming are the biggest reason for the world to look beyond these fossil fuels.

The consumption is not the only thing that adds to the pollution. The development in technology has made it possible to extract fossil fuels in a much easier and more cost effective way. This has lead to the corporate race of finding more resources. This involves digging deeper and deeper into the ground. This further causes the scraping off ever more layers of precious topsoil.

Alternative fuels on the other hand are safer. They do not cause pollution in the atmosphere. Nor do they involve harassment of any natural resources. Also unlike the fossil fuels, the resources for the alternative fuels are entirely renewable. This makes it a smart decision to opt for the alternative fuels.

So now that we understand why do we need alternative fuels, we should act fast. There are many alternative fuels like Biodiesel, Ethanol and more to help us. We should make it a point to adapt these fuels and save our environment at the earliest!

Samuel Oliver writes for a website with a focus on alternative fuel, discovering the A-Z of alternative fuels and helping get the word out too Do We Need Alternative Fuels

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Samuel_Oliver
