Released for Verizon Wireless, the Motorola Droid is a location aware device with voice recognization and multi-tasking capabilities. The handset runs Google's Android 2.0 operating system, offering a new mapping application that has voice-guided turn-by-turn directions, satellite imagery and high-resolution photos of the streets. LG Outs 1GHz Pico Projector Smartphone

LG has chosen to combine this hardware with Windows Mobile 6.5 which - while making some understandably run for cover - does make sense given the platform's Office Mobile productivity software. Meanwhile, another neat touch is the use of a 'Smart Sensor' - exclusive fingerprint recognition tech licensed from AuthenTec, which does away with the need for passwords.

Breaking with tradition, LG will launch the eXpo first in the US on 7 December in an exclusive deal with AT&T. Will it come to the UK? I'd suggest only if it proves successful. Furthermore, while it isn't exactly to my taste I certainly hope it does do well since manufacturers need to be encouraged to step up projector integration, not shy away from it - even if eXpo may have a form only Esmeralda could love...

T-Mobile Sidekick LX (aka T-Mobile Sidekick LX 2009)

We wrote about this a little while ago, and T-Mobile the other day actually confirmed this to be coming on May 13th, so any hardcore texters should really wanna pay attention here– this is probably the greatest Sidekick ever. Check it:

Thinnest Sidekick Ever– so says T-Mobile, whose word is pretty credible considering they are the sole sellers of Sidekicks (rhyming not intended)
3.2-inch F-WVGA screen with high-definition screen– This has an 854 x480 resolution, which in simple English terms, means not only the greatest screen on a Sidekick EVER, but one of the greatest screens on any phone out there today, on any carrier! This will make everything– the web, texts, your Facebook/MySpace/Twitter page, pix and videos — insanely clear and easy to use.
Flip out screen and QWERTY keyboard– The standard Sidekick design pretty much.
T-Mobile 3G– Like I said in the other post… FINALLY!
3.2 Megapixel Camera with Auto Focus, Flash and Video Capture– A nice camera for a phone, should be more than fine for your basic camera taking needs.
GPS with Windows Live Search– So you can map out where you wanna go. It also has real time traffic which is a nice touch

Mp3 Player with microSD card slot– T-Mobile actually throws in a 1 GB card in the box. Very kind of them

The Sidekick LX (interesting that they gave it the same name as an earlier version of the Sidekick) will be available for T-Mobile for $199.99 after rebate on a 2 year contract on May 13th.

INQ launches social-media mobile phone

The company, which is owned by Hutchison Whampoa, manufactures affordable social mobile devices targeted at the teenage market. The INQ Chat retails at £99 on prepay and is free on a £15 a month contract with unlimited data plans. The phone is currently being sold through network 3 stores and targets those looking to purchase phones such as the Blackberry and iPhone.

INQ will be promoting the phone through an INQ branded store at Westfield White City, which opens this weekend.

INQ phones provide desktop, such as Facebook, Windows Live, Skype and eBay, and put instant messaging, email, VoIP and social networking at the heart of the phone.

Jeff Taylor, co-founder and marketing director said: 'The launch of the INQ Chat 3G illustrates our determination to meet the needs of younger customers. They're after phones that are fast, capable, great-looking and priced sensibly. Just with our phones, our approach to marketing will break the tired, old formats that the old mobile brands have followed. That will encompass everything from how we look in retail, our presence online to our packaging.'
