We believe there are two very popular ways people do this. One way is to wrap tobacco in paper and then burn it. Another is to take wet tobacco and stick in their mouths. We believe Greentip is the cleaner version of nicotine delivery. Thus, Greentip hopes to reduce the death and pollution caused by cigarette smoking.

Why can't we choose to deliver nicotine without the tar?

What is Greentip ? The atomizer is the heart of the e-cig, without it there is no vapor, there is no electronic cigarette. Atomizers should be a standard. Customers should not buy replacement atomizers!

There are some companies who do it right with the two piece model but to us that is not a sustainable business practice. The so called "cartomizers" are not high quality and it produces much more waste and manufacturing emissions.

Greentip will strive to provide our customers with a brand new atomizer for each cartridge pack. Heck, each atomizer can last more than one pack but just to be safe, we want to make 1 atomizer + 1 pack, a standard. The way we see it, customers should ONLY be paying for refill cartridges, not batteries, atomizers, chargers, etc. We want to be able to provide our starter kits and cartridges at the lowest prices so that ALL of society can benefit from this great product.

Although, smoking is prevalent in all socioeconomic classes, studies show that those in lower income classes are affected most. We want EVERYONE to enjoy Greentip. Greentip had no affiliations in creating this write-up. We only show appreciation for the research efforts put in by the ECA among other endeavors of theirs.

Myth: Electronic cigarettes are being sold to kids.
Fact: Electronic cigarettes are intended for committed smokers of the legal age to smoke. The industry advocates proper labeling, encourages retailers to check identification of customers, and insists that electronic cigarette companies in good standing validate age prior to transacting online purchases. The ECA has gone a step further and required proper labeling and identification for all its members to establish and continue their membership. In a recent industry study that included a random sample of U.S. electronic cigarette consumers, the average respondent's age was 44 years old. Further, with an average product price of about $100 (Greentip at $49.99), electronic cigarettes can hardly be considered kid-friendly.

Myth: Electronic cigarette cartridges offer many flavors to attract adolescent users.
Fact: All products—which are intended for adult consumers only—offer a variety of flavors. The preference for flavor is universal and not age-specific. Products of all types offer colors, flavors, and other variations to appeal to consumer tastes. To suggest that the cartridge flavors for electronic cigarettes were devised to appeal to kids is patently false and not substantiated by facts. Such an argument is tantamount to suggesting that nicotine-infused smoking cessation gums are available in mint and cinnamon flavors in order to appeal to children. Electronic cigarettes sold by companies in good standing with the ECA are intended for and marketed to long-term, adult smokers.

Myth: Electronic cigarettes make nicotine readily available to non-smokers.
Fact: Electronic cigarettes are marketed to current smokers, not non-smokers. Nicotine is widely available in over-the-counter products, including tobacco cigarettes and smoking cessation gums and lozenges, and no evidence suggests that these products or electronic cigarettes increase the consumption of nicotine by those who do not wish to smoke. In a recent industry study that included a random sample of U.S. electronic cigarette consumers, 96 percent of respondents were smokers purchasing the product for personal use, and 4 percent purchased the product for a friend or relative who smoked.

Myth: The contents of electronic cigarettes are unknown.
Fact: Multiple studies have been conducted and the ingredients are well-known. Numerous studies by different laboratories around the globe have identified that the vapor that is inhaled when using an electronic cigarette, depending on the manufacturer, contains approximately 20 ingredients. These include nicotine, which is regarded as generally safe for human consumption when ingested prudently and in accordance with proper labeling. By contrast, tobacco smoke contains 4,000 ingredients, including arsenic and carbon monoxide, and dozens of cancer-causing ingredients.

Myth: People consume too much nicotine with electronic cigarettes because there is no regulation.
Fact: The amount of nicotine in electronic cigarettes is much less than other over-the-counter products.
Tobacco cigarettes and smoking cessation products, like electronic cigarettes and many other non-smoking-related products, rely on consumers to regulate their consumption and use according to manufacturer labeling. No one can control the misuse of products when directions are not followed.

With that said, the intake of nicotine from electronic cigarettes appears to be substantially less than acceptable standards already in the marketplace. For instance, the consumption of a tobacco cigarette delivers about 1-1.5 mg of nicotine. With the average U.S. smoker consuming 13.9 cigarettes per day, they consume 14-21 mg of nicotine daily. Depending on the smoking cessation product, labeling suggests consumption of six to 48 mg of nicotine per day. By comparison, an electronic cigarette cartridge, depending on manufacturer and cartridge style, produces zero to 16 mgs of nicotine when fully consumed (after approximately 300 puffs). A recent industry study indicates the average electronic cigarette user takes 62.8 puffs per day. This suggests the average electronic cigarette smoker is consuming 3.36 mg of nicotine per day—far less than the amounts for cigarettes or smoking cessation products.

Myth: Electronic cigarettes cannot be legally marketed in the United States.
Fact: The FDA has not issued any formal guidance on electronic cigarettes. While it is true that some manufacturers had the importation of their products stopped or delayed earlier in 2009, it is also true that the FDA has only provided informal comments about electronic cigarettes through its spokespeople and has not issued any formal guidance on the topic. The FDA currently only has jurisdiction to regulate drugs and medical devices, and electronic cigarettes fall under neither of these categories.

Myth: You can stop people from smoking.
Fact: Tobacco smoking increased in the United States in 2008 for the first time since 1965. After a 30-year decline in tobacco smoking in the United States, the percentage of American adults who smoke tobacco increased in 2008 and for the first time since 1965—this despite decades of dedicated legislative and educational efforts. It is clear that some people will choose to smoke and that further improvement in public health requires accepting this reality and embracing innovative new products that are less hazardous than tobacco cigarettes and more effective than abstinence.

Myth: Smoking cessation products work.
Fact: Only three to seven percent of people who use these products are able to quit for at least six months.
While abstaining from tobacco smoking is a good goal, cessation products on the market have been proven in multiple studies to have a failure rate of around 95 percent. Pharmaceutical companies receive billions from the sales of these products while being well aware of their products’ lack of success and that the majority of sales are to people seeking alternative forms of nicotine delivery rather than a smoking cessation solution. Electronic cigarettes offer an alternative to traditional cigarettes and are not used for smoking cessation.

Myth: Nicotine is bad for you.
Fact: The long-term use of nicotine is significantly safer than tobacco smoking. Nicotine suffers from guilt by association with tobacco. The carcinogenic properties of nicotine in a stand-alone form, separated from tobacco smoke, indicate that nicotine on its own does not promote the development of cancer in healthy tissue and has no mutagenic properties. The Royal College of Physicians, as well as a study by the National Institutes of Health, indicates that there are no grounds to suspect appreciable long-term adverse effects on health from the long-term use of nicotine.

THE PAPER TEST

SIMPLE TEST THAT YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SEE WHAT GOES IN YOUR LUNGS.....
IT IS CALLED THE PAPER TEST !!!

Greentip's take on Addiction and Nicotine

We feel as human beings it is almost natural to be addicted to something. Whether its the internet, chocolate, television, or smoking there is an addictive gene inherent in all. Like anything cigarettes are something humans have been addicted for a long long time.

Why?

There is a social aspect about smoking that makes it addictive. There is also nicotine, which is one of the most highly addictive substances in the world. How can we humans take in nicotine to feed this addiction. Society has basically given us a few choices, smoke the fumes of burnt tobacco wrapped in paper or patches and gum. Patches and gum are boring...

Smoking is not bad. There is a social aspect about it that makes it very special. However, the way people currently smoke is not good for society. It KILLS people. If you do not believe this fact, one of us has to be insane.

However, nicotine is not the true culprit in this debacle. It is the tar, the chemicals produced by combustion, and smoke that does the dirty job.

***Technically Speaking***

Cigarette = Smoke

E-Cigarette = Vapor

Smoker vs Vaper

Smoking vs Vaping

************************

Greentip will not market or sell to minors. Smoking has not and will not be permitted by children or those younger than the minimum age law. It is an adult habit and should stay that way.

Greentip is an alternative. Unfortunately, for a socially stigmatized addiction but it is the better alternative.

Clearing Up the FDA Confusion

When Greenbulb LLC (Cyrille, Ryeon, Rudi, and Sunny) got started with Greentip, our mission was not to just deliver electronic cigarettes from one place to another, but to take a more holistic approach in educating the public with TRUTH, providing them with the best electronic cigarettes available, and ultimately creating a company that deserves the faith and trust that electronic cigarette users put in us. We wanted to create a MOVEMENT, a new beginning, a journey that starts from tossing out the cigarettes from our hands and ends at a tobacco-free community filled with fully satisfied supporters of our e-cigs.

As not just the co-founder of Greenbulb, but a wholehearted supporter of electronic cigarettes and its community, I would like to clear up some issues regarding the recent FDA report and testing on Njoy and Smoking Everywhere e-cigarettes. First, some basic review of facts:

Smoking KILLS (25% of the American population still smokes cigarettes and 440,000 people die every year from smoking-related diseases). Yet, 6 years after the invention of electronic cigarettes, there has not been a single report of death from its usage.

An electronic cigarette is a lithium-battery powered electronic device that delivers nicotine in a manner that regular cigarettes do without the carcinogens, tars, the terrible lingering odor, second-hand smoke, or yellow teeth.

Patches and gum are great alternatives to smoking (In fact, anything that steers you away from cigarettes is a great alternative); it works wonders for a lot of people. However, we know and believe the addiction to smoking is not just a physical need of nicotine, but a behavioral addiction – the full experience of smoking that include: picking up something that you can inhale, putting it in your mouth, taking a drag, seeing the tip light up, watching the smoke (in the case of e-cig, just vapor) come out of your mouth, without actually hurting yourself by smoking and its 4800+ chemicals. This makes electronic cigarettes the most suitable fit for smokers who are looking for a smoking alternative to cure their nicotine addiction in the near future.

Electronic cigarettes are not a health product. It contains nicotine and that is still a poison. However, it’s designed in hopes to deliver nicotine without the cancer causing chemicals so you can gradually decrease your nicotine intake and live a completely nicotine-free lifestyle in the nearest future as possible. According to the FDA regulations, we cannot make such claims that electronic cigarettes are a smoking-cessation aid product, because it has not gone through the years of medical research and testing that cost millions of dollars that to my knowledge, small businesses (which most electronic cigarette distributors are currently) cannot afford. Yet, the cold hard truth is this: there are over 40 carcinogens in a cigarette, electronic cigarettes contain none, despite the fact FDA recently did find Diethylene Glycol in Smoking Everywhere’s electronic cigarette (which I will get into). Logically, it only makes sense that e-cigs are the obviously healthier alternative (40 vs. 1 carcinogen, am I getting through you?)

__________________________________________________________

Now, you might have been hearing some ruckus on the news recently; FDA Warns About Carcinogens and Other Poisons Found in Electronic Cigarettes. I won’t get too political but I cannot help but feel obligated to inform the public of the less than glorious doings of the media.

If you watch the news or read the newspaper/magazine nowadays, you need to keep your mind more alert than ever and filter this constant flux of information that is being reported. Most people take many things they see on the media as cold hard facts and never question its source. Now I am not claiming that the government or every broadcasting company is out to hunt down electronic cigarettes in exchange of lobby money from tobacco companies – not only is that theory completely depressing but we have no evidence of that. All I’m asking the readers is to be aware of how the media tends to bend the truth. This is not because they’re necessarily evil, but it’s because they are nothing more than a business that’s out there to make money just like any other businesses. Like the following, it is important to pay attention to its language and do some background research beyond the single article you read. Luckily, with this report, we did the research for you. The actual FDA report of this controversial testing can be found here: http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Drugs/ScienceResearch/UCM173250.pdf). Here is Nate’s post from the official Electronic Cigarette Forum that completely mirrors my take:

The Press Release (thanks Krakken):

“Quote:

FDA NEWS RELEASEFor Immediate Release: July 22, 2009
Media Inquiries: Siobhan DeLancey, 301-796-4668, siobhan.delancey@fda.hhs.gov
Consumer Inquiries: 888-INFO-FDA
FDA and Public Health Experts Warn About Electronic Cigarettes
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced that a laboratory analysis of electronic cigarette samples has found that they contain carcinogens and toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient used in antifreeze. Electronic cigarettes, also called “e-cigarettes,” are battery-operated devices that generally contain cartridges filled with nicotine, flavor and other chemicals. The electronic cigarette turns nicotine, which is highly addictive, and other chemicals into a vapor that is inhaled by the user. These products are marketed and sold to young people and are readily available online and in shopping malls. In addition, these products do not contain any health warnings comparable to FDA-approved nicotine replacement products or conventional cigarettes. They are also available in different flavors, such as chocolate and mint, which may appeal to young people.
Public health experts expressed concern that electronic cigarettes could increase nicotine addiction and tobacco use in young people. Jonathan Winickoff, M.D., chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Tobacco Consortium and Jonathan Samet, M.D., director of the Institute for Global Health at the University of Southern California, joined Joshua Sharfstein, M.D., principal deputy commissioner of the FDA, and Matthew McKenna, M.D., director of the Office of Smoking and Health for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to discuss the potential risks associated with the use of electronic cigarettes.
“The FDA is concerned about the safety of these products and how they are marketed to the public,” said Margaret A. Hamburg, M.D., commissioner of food and drugs. Because these products have not been submitted to the FDA for evaluation or approval, at this time the agency has no way of knowing, except for the limited testing it has performed, the levels of nicotine or the amounts or kinds of other chemicals that the various brands of these products deliver to the user. The FDA’s Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis analyzed the ingredients in a small sample of cartridges from two leading brands of electronic cigarettes. In one sample, the FDA’s analyses detected diethylene glycol, a chemical used in antifreeze that is toxic to humans, and in several other samples, the FDA analyses detected carcinogens, including nitrosamines. These tests indicate that these products contained detectable levels of known carcinogens and toxic chemicals to which users could potentially be exposed. The FDA has been examining and detaining shipments of e-cigarettes at the border and the products it has examined thus far meet the definition of a combination drug-device product under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The FDA has been challenged regarding its jurisdiction over certain e-cigarettes in a case currently pending in federal district court. The agency is also planning additional activities to address its concerns about these products. Health care professionals and consumers may report serious adverse events (side effects) or product quality problems with the use of e-cigarettes to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by regular mail, fax or phone.

Next is the FDA Safety Alert:

Quote:

Electronic Cigarettes
Audience: Pediatric healthcare professionals and consumers
[Posted 07/22/2009] FDA notified healthcare professionals and patients that a laboratory analysis of electronic cigarette samples has found that they contain carcinogens and toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient used in antifreeze. Some are not. Here are the facts:

Regarding Diethylene Glycol:

Looking at the Health New Zealand study1, the presence of Diethylene Glycol was not tested for. They seem to have based their tests on manufacturer ingredient lists and known tobacco carcinogens.

So what is Diethylene Glycol? The MSDS2 shows that chronic exposure to Diethylene Glycol can cause lesions on the liver and kidneys, as well as damage to the same organs. In the case of inhalation, the only first aid recommended is removal from the source to fresh air. The toxicalogical information is as follows:

Quote:

Oral rat LD50: 12565 mg/kg. Skin rabbit LD50: 11.89 g/kg Irritation: eye rabbit, standard Draize: 50 mg mild. Investigated as a tumorigen and reproductive effector.

—NTP Carcinogen—
Ingredient Known Anticipated IARC Category
———————————— —– ———– ————-
Diethylene Glycol (111-46-6) No No None

This shows that Diethylene Glycol is not a known carcinogen, nor is it expected to be found as one in the future. In addition, the dose required to kill half of the sample of rats tested is 12.565 g/kg and 11.89 g/kg for rabbits. Assuming this can be extended to humans, an average adult male would have to ingest 855.925 g to receive a lethal dose.

Is Diethylene Glycol the main ingredient in antifreeze? The EPA3 has this to say about antifreeze variations:

Quote:

Antifreeze typically contains ethylene glycol as its active ingredient, but some manufacturers market propylene glycol-based antifreeze, which is less toxic to humans and pets. The acute, or short-term, toxicity of propylene glycol, especially in humans, is substantially lower than that of ethylene glycol. Regardless of which active ingredient the spent antifreeze contains, heavy metals contaminate the antifreeze during service. When contaminated, particularly with lead, used antifreeze can be considered hazardous and should be reused, recycled, or disposed of properly.

Ethylene Glycol is the main ingredient in antifreeze. While straight antifreeze is toxic, the main hazard is from used antifreeze, which absorbs heavy metals.

What about Nitrosamines? Nitrosamines are carcinogens. Tobacco specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) are found in the liquid used by Ruyan in their cartridges. According to the Health New Zealand report1, the amount increases with the amount of nicotine, and the average is 3.928 Ng (or parts per billion [ppb]). The breakdown is as follows:

Quote:

Nitrosamines
0mg – 0.260 Ng (ppb)
6mg – 3.068 Ng
11mg – 4.200 Ng
16mg – 8.183 Ng

The highest amount found was in 16mg liquid, which had an average of 8.183 Ng. In comparison, Nicorette Gum (which is approved as an NRT) contains about 8 Ng. To put that number into perspective, Swedish moist snuff contains between 1000 and 2400 ppb nitrosamines, and unburned tobacco from cigarettes contains around 1230 ppb.”

Readers, I hope you took some time to educate yourself with facts and not what the media tells you. I understand that there are still debatable material from the FDA report. Nevertheless, we believe that electronic cigarettes are the obviously healthier choice for smokers. This is a revolutionary product without a doubt in my mind and I will not rest until the day that everybody in this world sees the product for what it is, not what the other uninformed or manipulative sources tell the public. In the next post, I’ll talk about what Greentip will do for you to minimize your concerns to provide you with not only the best quality, but the safest and most trustworthy electronic cigarette available on the market.

Until then,

Sunny Kwak
Greenbulb LLC
A New Beginning...

HEY CIGS!

We apologize for the obscene graphic and language in this cartoon.
It had to be done.

What does it mean to be green?

Being GREEN is not just about about being eco-friendly or being a tree hugger. It is not just about the environment. The way we see it, being green is a lifestyle decision. Yes, being green means having a conscience for the environment, treating it like your own but being green also means treating YOURSELF the best way possible. We need to realize that the earth's purpose is to allow all creatures of nature to coexist in a harmonious way.

As much of a environmentalist you are or a selfless servant of whatever, you must take time to treat yourself and to take care of yourself. It is good to be fair to the earth but you must also be fair to yourself! Theres really no point in trying to save the earth when you're hurting yourself! Also, a thing about "saving the earth". It sounds silly but we really must treat nature with respect. Just as the animal kingdom treats us with respect we must do likewise.

I will admit that I am no tree hugger, but I strive for a "greener" life. Why not? Its not any worse than having a normal one. I have to admit though that it is hard to be eco-friendly but sooner or later technology will catch up and make our lives a lot easier. Its easier to not be green because there arent that many choices out. Hybrids vs Traditional....Green Buildings Vs Brick/Mortar... BUT with a new generation, we are inching towards the "green" future.

WHY?! There are die hard fans of it but also die hard opponents. There will be haters but we will push through. We think this is a revolutionary product and that it will be beneficial to society in the long run.

Here are my thoughts. Cigarettes have already killed many many people. Critics say introducing this new product can kill even more! What I don't get is cigarettes have a proven track record of causing death. We know there are 4000 chemicals in them...63 of them being carcinogens. For electronic cigarettes, there are 10, all approved by FDA, none of them cancer causing. I just dont get it...it is probably politics, procedure, and the process of everything that is delaying the approval for e-cigs. We would gladly put our product up for testing by the FDA but we also do not have millions of dollars. =)

Until then, we choose to smoke an alternative cigarette with no tar and no carcinogens. We want society to use a green product so that "green ideology" can spread. People have questioned how Greentip is as an "eco-friendly" product and at first glance it seems like a good marketing scheme...but its not. Using something simple as a Greentip can cause others to follow suit in a "Green" lifestyle. There is one less person throwing away toxic cigarette butts, One less person breathing in toxic chemicals, one less person not utilizing precious land and earth for the cultivation of tobacco. Like a person driving a Hybrid vehicle, someone is taking a stand and setting an example.

Crazy thing I found:

“We have every reason to believe the hazard posed by electronic cigarettes would be much lower than 1% of that posed by (tobacco) cigarettes,” says Dr. Nitzkin in this online interview. “The testing guidelines in the current tobacco act (circulating through Congress) would represent a ban on electronic cigarettes, (yet) if we get all tobacco smokers to switch from regular cigarettes (to electronic cigarettes), we would reduce the US death toll from 400,000 a year to less than 4,000, maybe as low as 400.”

Interview of Joel Niztkin, MD, MPH, DPA, FACPM

Thats it for now, PEACE.

What is Greentip?

First of all I would like to welcome you to our blog. My name is Rudy , and I am 1/3 of the amazing group that is Greentip.

What is Greentip you ask ?

Well , to understand Greentip , you have to understand the force that is behind Greentip. Both me , and my partners are ex-smokers that meet 2 years ago at a college party.knowing each other for a while , it was clear to us that we had one thing in common. We were all smokers , that wanted to quit !

Personally , I know that I have been smoking since I was 15 years old. I cannot begin to tell you the damages that cigarettes have done to my health ( I have breathing problems). In our journey to quit cigarettes , we stumble up something called an electronic cigarette.A what? yes that's right an electronic cigarette.

Let me explain what it is. Well the generic def for this product is : it is a battery powered device that provides users with a simulated smoking experience. The device delivers nicotine by vaporizing a nicotine solution called e-Liquid. It is composed of 1 battery and 1 disposable cartridge. It looks and feels like a real cigarette.

But in my own words let me say this : It is a kick ass alternative to cigarettes , It looks and feels like a cigarette. Instead of delivering smoke , it delivers a flavored vapor that contains NO Carbon Monoxide , NO tar , and NO tobacco , ONLY nicotine. After my first try , I think that my lungs thanked me for the first time in my life. lol It is still amazing too me , how many ppl do not know about electronic cigarettes. My goal in this adventure is to inform ppl about electronic cigarettes , and make a difference in this world.

in progress...

We are Currently working on Website/Blog

will be up very soon :-)
